Extremely stiff at first, doesn't know where to put his hands or what to do
Guide him through that and give him reassuring little kisses and caresses and he will be putty in your hands

I gotta put this out there, Alex is criminally underrated/overhated.
Now, first things first: You don't need to like him if you don't want to, this is just my opinion because Alex is my favorite character in Stardew Valley and it's sad to see people dislike him, therefore never trying to get his heart events.
To be honest, at first, I wasn't a fan of Alex because I played a female farmer and he was being sexist. But I like that the more you get to know him, he starts to change and apologizes for his behavior.
I think it's pretty obvious why he might have these sexist thoughts when you first get to know him. (drumroll please...) Daddy issues! He never had a good father figure, considering his abusive father and George not being all that great at showing his feelings. All he really had was working out and magazines about it, my guess is that a bubble built around him where he only saw men as being capable of being strong and sporty because that's what the magazines showed him. Of course, this might not be true, but it's what came to my mind since he obviously doesn't hate women straight on lol (He is a mommy's boy and we love him for that.)
Now the real good side to Alex appears when you play as the male farmer and want to romance him.
Now it's no surprise to me that Alex thought that he couldn't have feelings for another man, considering after you get with him and you have low hearts with George, he tells you: "How can two men get married? It's unnatural... Hmmph. I guess I'm just "old fashioned"..." Wouldn't shock me if George is the reason why Alex thought that way, but his love for the male farmer was stronger than the fear of being shamed. And fortunately, if you have 10 hearts with George, he comes around and tells you: "I'll admit, I thought it was... strange... for two men to be together. But you're such a nice young man, and I know you two are in love... I've changed my mind."
So in my opinion, Alex is a person who has been shaped into a person he doesn't really want to be and the farmer helps him change into a better version of himself. (Don't hate him, he's just a little traumatized guy lol)
