The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) executive committee and its national board of directors have voted to suspend National Chief RoseAnne Archibald, effective immediately.
Archibald has been accused of bullying and harassment by four staff members. The claims are now the subject of an external investigation.
"The National Chief was suspended with pay pending the outcome of a current investigation into four complaints against her," the AFN said in a statement on Friday.
This is the first time a national chief has been suspended by the executive committee.
"She will be suspended until the Executive Committee reviews the investigation report and makes a final decision regarding her status," the statement said.

The Best Vaccine and Flu Commercials: Why haven’t they been shown in the states?!!
So I grew up in the military and if your parents were overseas, you watched the Armed Forces Network (AFN)
While I was living overseas there was pandemic flu, avian flu and swine flu epidemics going on so the AFN produced commercials encouraging basic precautions like hand washing, staying home when ill, and getting flu shots.
These were darkly comedic and informative.

News from British Columbia, 4 July
Property owners in Nanaimo and throughout the province must pay their 2023 property taxes by July 4 to avoid fines.
2. The BC Maritime Employers Association believes that further negotiations will not lead to a collective agreement in the ongoing strike at British Columbia ports.
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Canada went on strike on July 1, representing workers involved in cargo loading and unloading at over 30 B.C. ports.
The employers association claims to have reached the limit of their concessions on core issues in the bargaining process.
3. The transfer of notorious Canadian killer Paul Bernardo to a medium-security prison without the knowledge of the Minister of Public Safety has raised concerns and sparked a review of the decision-making process.
The emails released reveal that the Commissioner of the Correctional Service of Canada, Anne Kelly, informed senior officials about the transfer, including the Prime Minister's Office, prior to notifying the Minister of Public Safety.
The Minister of Public Safety, Marco Mendicino, admits that his office made a mistake in not informing him of the transfer but denies any intentional attempt to keep him uninformed, and plans to issue a directive to ensure direct notification of such transfers in the future.
4. The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) has voted to remove RoseAnne Archibald from her position as national chief, citing a human resources investigation and allegations of corruption as contributing factors.
Archibald claims that her suspension and subsequent removal are a result of her efforts to fight corruption within the AFN.
The AFN will remain without a national chief until an interim leader is selected, with an election scheduled for December.

APOLLO 13—is there anything better than the scene when one of the guys in houston walks into the room and is like "we gotta figure out how to make this fit into this using nothing but that"
SPOTLIGHT—peak competency porn, honest, hard working journalists using their skills to report on the story of sexual abuse in the catholic church and it actually making an impact. wild! i have rewatched this FAR too many times for it to be healthy probably lol
AIR FORCE ONE—ok this one is silly, but really is there anything better than watching hot president harrison ford beat up a bunch of terrorists on a plane and then face off against gary oldman using a russian accent? bc honestly, i can't think of any
A FEW GOOD MEN—i just love a good courtroom drama where people shout their confessions on the stand in front of everyone. also this has tom cruise at his peak, so really?? who can complain.
SHATTERED GLASS—this is a random deep cut that i first watched early in the pandemic? but it's just. it's got everything i love. based on a true story, young hayden christensen playing a con artist journalist, and then just...an even, steady story as other journalists pick apart his lies and his life falls apart. like?? i love it. i've rewatched it A LOT.
MONA LISA SMILE—a movie that is objectively not as good as the one it's trying to ape (dead poets society) and YET it's the one i get in the mood to rewatch all the time. like this is white feminism at its peak but it is, truly, a guilty pleasure.
ALMOST FAMOUS—if you'll notice from this list, another thing i clearly like is recent period dramas and this is a great one to just get into the early 70s music scene and have some fun. also philip seymour hoffman is PHENOMENAL in this.
THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY—this is a bonus eighth film that i am adding to this list bc i only just watched it for the v first time in december and i've already rewatched it twice since. i can see it becoming a comfort move for me. in this case, the competency porn would be tom's competency at conning and murdering lol

AFN Anatomy Practice Dump

He looks a bit creepy in this but honestly thats in character at this point. He's a creepy little dude when he's hungry.
I don't like this one I just wanted to practice the way his legs bend. I wanted to test how they'd look and bend at different angles. Don't look at it too hard.

I got bro in the beast hunch. Honestly this is probably what that rabbit saw seconds before getting mauled. I draw the tail after I finish the whole drawing usually so poor boy is tailless rn.
This ones suuuuper reference heavy and not my usual stuff. Very messy. Idk if I'll finish it since its a bit far from my usual style. I hate hands theyre so hard to make look right in a lineless style but fuck it we ball.
Its like half shading practice and half me seeing how realistic I'm willing to draw before I get bored of it.

Francis Arson George A.K.A. Gasoline (teamed up with Gabriel Arson Young A.K.A. The Gaslighter) has fire powers(they're fire proof too), loves to gaslight people, cool fire themed outfit (not fireproof), fire mohawk
Vahm Pyre. is a vampire, also a murderer, set in the future, hes a silly guy; fun at parties
Michael Weethabee. noir detective, paranoid, has been afraid of insects his whole life, hates vampires, low key gay, also set in the future. kind of obsessed with vahm tbh
William W. Williams. dystopian steampunk past. has a prosthetic arm. kind of a loner. HATES government he is so happy living like right next to a little commune. hes kind of a snarky bitch.
AfN characters:
Hero Hart. villain, silly little guy, yet to come up with proper name or costume for him (head in hands), he does the dean winchester mugshot face in his mugshots, had strict parents, electric powers. also fun at parties. sees the good in the world once he and hunter get together, once hunter dies he goes a bit apeshit and goes after nightingale on lure vengeance
Hunter Stillwell A.K.A. Brimstone. Has brimstone canary wings. hero. fights hero. hes a bit strict but loosens up around hero. he thinks hero is really sexy with a bloody nose (he gave it to him), dies. canary in the coal mine esque
Thea S. (I forgor her last name) A.K.A. Nightingale. power is to sing and command people with her song. she likes to manipulate people. everybody hates her. god forbid women do anything. I should make her a girlfriend.
