The Snapmaker 3d Printer and Laser Engraver
Getting a good 3d printer means that you go for one made from a material that lasts longer. For instance, the Snapmaker 3d printer and laser engraver have a whole metal frame that gives it strength and durability. So a good 3d printer will maintain its vibrant properties for longer. Knowing what 3d printer is the best and most durable is very important because so many companies claim their products have the longest life. But as for Snapmaker, our products speak for themselves. For instance, our all-metal design captivates many, not because of its sleek look but because of the strength, it has as well. You are guaranteed that it will serve you for longer. The quality of our prints is also of high quality signifying the great engineering behind the design of our 3d printers.
Tumblr media
As a consumer, you also have a big role to play in ensuring the printer's longevity. It is upon you to store it in a safe place that is well-ventilated and away from dust. If you plan not to use the printer for a long time, you should make it lie horizontally. You can cover it with a cloth to prevent dust from reaching the vital parts. You should also dust it monthly to avoid any buildup of dirt. Check for the wear and tear of the movable parts and replace them whenever necessary. Ensure that the filament is not damp, which may clog the nozzle.
For the best bargain on durability, go for a metal 3d printer. You can check our website to find out the 3d metal printer price. It is assured that you will find them at great prices.

I haven't seen anyone else post about this yet but 3dsqulpts on instagtam made a STL resin printing file that you can purchase here for $24 USD!!!
It is ONLY the file for sale, NOT the figurine itself---but there are many resin printing services on etsy should you (like me) NOT have ready access to a resin printer, and want to print & paint yourself! The artist states there are no current plans for a Griddle figurine but...... maybe if TLT fans show a lot of interest....???

So I love plants. And I love different kinds of houseplants. But I got hella annoyed not finding anything that fit what I thought would work for aroids and other tropical houseplants and went, "Oh, God, we've got that 3D printer, don't we?"
So I learned to 3D model.
It is very hard.
Anyway, I have another tumblr, and I love navigating tumblr, and was like, hmm, maybe people who grow plants may find them interesting? So I started one for my store. I launched yesterday!
If you don't like planters or don't need them, I plan on releasing nature-themed art pieces and other things too. To keep up with that, you can follow me here on Tumblr or on Instagram (or Facebook, but I'll be on Insta more. And here).
BUT why buy my planters?
Well, you can use them with your nursery pots (see above photo). You can use them with clear pots (see below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can use them with grow mediums with varying degrees of success. They're on sale for 25 USD, and there are discounted bundles as well as, I cannot stress it enough, we have FREE US SHIPPING unless you need it, like, in two days, in which case we HAVE to charge. I'm sorry, but them's the rules.
I don't have international shipping right now. My apologies, but duties and international shipping is EXPENSIVE and I am a new baby business, ok, I gotta work my way up to it!
Anyway, I bet people are like, why have a BRAND Tumblr and my question to you is, why NOT? The overlap between planty people and tumblr people is surprisingly big and I want to reach as many people with my ideas/products as I can.
So go ahead and send asks if you like about 3D printing, houseplants, et cetera. I can't wait to talk with you all and plan on posting here lots!

Adaine's Sword of Sight prototype is done!!!
There are a lot of things I'll be changing in the next build but this ended up looking nicer than I thought it would. I'm cleaning up the file a bit and then I'll have it on sale! I'm also going to sell it 3D printed and ready to paint if you don't have a 3D printer!

Everyone is afraid of China. And why shouldn’t they be? They have a large industrial base, paid for by American industrialists. They have a lot of money, given to them by American industrialists. And they have tiny, quirky cars, which I desire more than my next breath. It’s an unbeatable combo, and the only way to compete is to play a different game.
We are going to build mid-sized, boring sedans, and then sell them into the Chinese market in exchange for tiny quirky cars and exotic sports electrics. For our prototype, we have chosen to clone the Plymouth Volare. Panel gap is actually better than the original car by far, because we’ve used CNC machining (an old 3D printer we found in the dumpster, with a plasma cutter duct-taped to the end of it) to produce immaculate replicas of the original panel. And our welder is only high on modern synthetic drugs, not the impure and unpredictable strains of the 1960s. That means consistency, and a return on your investment.
Do we think that the Chinese market will buy these cars? There’s a pretty good chance. They sport a lot of features that every market wants. Four wheels. A steering wheel. A trunk. And if the doors are closed and the windows are rolled up, you probably won’t get wet in the rain.
Powertrain is a problem, we agree. It’s a lot of startup cost to open a factory that is capable of manufacturing to the precision tolerances required to produce an internal combustion engine. That’s why we picked the Volare. Those cars came with an un-killable slant-six engine. They’re so unkillable, actually, that we didn’t have to build new ones, just pull ‘em of the junkyard and spray-paint ‘em: they’re good to a few million kilometers, so there’s no need to actually do a rebuild. That’s recycling, which is environmentally friendly (if you don’t think too hard about what’s in the spray cans we’re using.)
Last, investors shouldn’t fret about trade secrets. While these cars haven’t been made for a half-century, there’s not enough of them left in existence to use as a reference to copy from. Any imitators will have to buy at least one of our cars, and maybe two or three, if our quality control doesn’t get better. That’s called guaranteed sales.
There’s been a lot of fear about American workers leaking secrets to China, as opposed to the more traditional format where American managers sell them in large chunks to China instead. Here at Switch Industries, we guarantee our investors that none of us know how to dial long distance. Half of our employees are too young to even have seen a phone, and they definitely don’t use email. Maybe a few of them might know how to switch to Pinyin on their computer keyboards, so we’ve pried the control key off of every keyboard in the office.

Meet new sewing pattern <Kanoko> Tote bag set
Meet the new item from Waffle Patterns Tote bag set <Kanoko> sewing pattern. This is a fun and functional tote bag 3 sisters set with many pockets. All sizes are perfect for daily use. Please make your favourite size with your favourite fabric. Those can be made with a relatively small amount of fabric, so, it is also nice to use your leftover fabrics from your stash.
Tumblr media
<design options>
3 sizes are available; L - grocery size, M - commuter size, and S - accessory size. The grocery size is quite large and enough for supermarket or fabric shopping. The commuter size is suitable for daily use and the size for about 10″ iPad and other small things like a make-up pouch, wallet, or snacks. The accessory size is a very cute mini size for small staffs like a lip balm or candy.
L and M are basically the same design. Both have large 3D-shaped pockets on the front, side pockets with pleats, and a small pocket on the back. There are 2 kinds of functional inside pockets, too. There are 2 options for the opening. The L size sample shows magnet fastener + strap + side release buckle opening. The M sample features a zipper opening. You can add a shoulder strap on M size.
S size has also front/back and side pockets and a very small inside pocket. The closure is a magnet/snap fastener and an inside closure with tape+button.
Tumblr media
<fabric recommendation>
The pattern is drafted for woven fabrics. Mid-heavy weight woven durable fabrics are suitable. like duck, twill, denim, linen, canvas or décor weight fabric etc. I think waxed fabrics or water repellent outdoor fabrics are great options, too. For the lining, plain cotton or linen will be a good option.
Depending on your fabric and your design intention, please consider using additional interfacing on the bag panels for adding extra strength or body.
Here are my sample’s materials.
The shell fabric of smoky pink samples is mixed twill. I wanted to add body on M size, so I used woven mid weight interfacing on bag panels. For L size, I only use interfacing on the facing parts to keep it light weight. I also made a sample of M size with mid weight denim + fusible fleece combo for stable shape.
The red and yellow plaid set are made with wool coating. Those are all leftover of my winter projects. I used woven interfacing on the panels on the M size. The lining is plain cotton.
Again, please consider the material combination depending on your fabric and design intention.
Tumblr media
<other materials>
The samples are using 30mm~40mm webbing for the handles and straps. If you cannot find perfect colour or width, making those with contrast fabrics are the option.
I used the shoulder strap from ready made bags, but you can make them by yourself, too.
For additional strength, I added the plastic plates on the base of M and S size. The special materials for the bag base are sold at notion stores, but I used plastic plate cutting from old clear files and ice cream package.
Please choose suitable materials/parts for your design and shell fabrics. I strongly recommend checking actual material samples as much as possible and experimenting your fabrics before start the project.
Tumblr media
<other>
For smoky pink samples, I used twill tape on the pocket opening of side and back pockets for strengthen and as a design accent. It is also good option if your fabric is too stiff or thick.

It took like less than a week for Dxg1rly to go from “I’m never taking 3D print orders again because I can’t keep up with the orders and it’s too difficult” to “oops, 2/3 of my printers broke and I can’t fulfill orders, so I’m opening MORE ORDERS to pay for the new printers I need to continue to fill the already collecting BACKLOG of orders, but *hey* the wait time will only be 2-3 months” Like she physically cannot keep up with these orders she’s taken and people are starting to complain and we know she can’t afford to refund people because she publicly posts what she spends all her money on immediately after people place an order during one of her “emergency sales” so at this point she’s just blatantly begging for money that may or may not even end up going towards things she says they’re for and half the time she’s asking for people to pay for things other people should have already paid for. It’s actually so silly, how are people still paying her??? She’s been doing this scammy “making people pay for other people’s orders” thing for like a year now at least and when she’s not doing this, she’s making some excuse as to why she cannot print or ship stuff while she constantly prints her own dolls for her own purposes, or she’s asking for people to make more orders (that she admits she can’t fulfill) to pay for supplies like resin (which she uses for personal projects) or the boxes which she’s been using as an excuse not to ship orders, but people have claimed that now that she has the boxes she’s come up with a new reason not to ship orders.
I know that people are saying it’s too soon to call it scammy because that makes light of the people who’ve been stealing tons and tons of money from people for years, but when is someone gonna actually call this out? As someone who works hard to have good business practices it’s absolutely looney to watch and it really disturbs me that people still pay and support her, but I guess with the way people are about throwing money away in this hobby and giving people “the benefit of the doubt” I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised, but still…

You collect BJDs??? Can you please tell me where you buy some? I’ve been wanting one for so long and only found design models on Etsy, 1 actual doll that cost $8000, and literally nothing else. I gave up on the search and have no clue any irl stores that could sell them 😭🙏
I wouldn't buy anything off etsy unless you're grabbing a Kabbit print, and those should only run you about $100 max for a blank doll. I'm going to put doll hobby talk under the cut, but yeah I can give you my rec-list
I bought my first BJD off of cpfairyland which is the official Minifee retailer, but if you're in the USA I would also suggest checking out Denver doll emporium! They have a few different brands and quick shipping if you buy in stock. Minifee are great starting dolls, they have a ton of different heads, they're an industry standard and you can buy a doll with their makeup already done. Which means you can put money towards clothes and wigs(which is the fun part anyway).
I am an anti-recast hobbyist, and I genuinely recommend not buying recasts if you want to make friends in the hobby. So I'm only going to be telling you legit sites, which also means dolls are going to be a little more expensive(but I'll give you some less expensive recs too).
Alice's Collective bjd(acbjd) is a great site the acts as a third party for a ton of different brands. If you want a doll that looks a little(or a lot) different from the standard fashion doll they have a lot of great options.
Jane's Dolland is another sight that acts as a third party seller. They sell blind box tiny bjds(that are great quality I have a few)(only $30 too) and a few other cheap brands. You might have to paint the face yourself, or find a repaint artist, but the dolls themselves can be as low as $50. I actually bought an Imomo doll from them to customize for my sister last Christmas and she was really great for a beginner bjd.
Withdolls has some tiny bjds that are really fucking cute. I have one and he was under $200. Their dolls are adorable, but their tiny doll sizing is a little hard to shop for.
I mentioned Kabbit dolls! Kabbit is a 3D print file available for sale on etsy super customizable and cheap if you have a 3d printer! Or a library with a 3d printer! I've done 3D prints through my local library and I have a friend that printed a Kabbit they really like. Dollightful also has a free tiny bunny bjd on thingyverse I think.
I have bought dolls off of Facebook and Instagram, but you gotta be willing to be a little mean if you buy second hand. Always make sure you get a certificate of authenticity! And know what the doll you want is worth! I collect 1/4 MSD sized dolls, the last 2 heads I bought were about $100 each but they were also harder to find heads. One of the heads was being sold with a body for $150(but I only wanted the head so I overpaid) so you can find cheap(authentic) dolls if you're looking.
I also buy a lot of artist dolls on pre-order. Which means I follow the artists on Instagram and then I am very patient, and lucky. BJD buying is a lot of hurry up and wait if you want to go the independent artist route. You can always check bjdsale on Instagram, the tag is full and people are always selling.
Depending on where you live you can check on Facebook to see if you have a local bjd group! I have one in my area and we are always excited to help new people in the hobby!! They'd have dolls for sale, but also would have more ideas on where you could buy online. Dolls are such a niche hobby everyone sort of knows everyone, and we love sharing with new folks!! If you have any other questions you can send me a dm and I'm happy to talk more ❤️

My Facebook memories reminded my that this documentary on Cosplay, which I wanls in, premiered 11 YEARS AGO.
I watched some of it today and I am amazed at how much cosplay, creation, and sharing our creations has changed. There are materials and technologies now that didn't exist when I started. There was no Worbla, no 3D printers.
Very few companies made products for cosplay -- coloured contacts, coloured wigs better than Halloween quality, sewing patterns, they weren't readily available. You had to binge-shop at Halloween Sales, special order, or go to theatrical supply speciality stores. Or, in my case, all the way to Harajuku.
And TikTok didn't exist. Insta didn't exist. Twitter BARELY existed. The only place to share your costume and carefully rehearsed skits and sketches was during the Masquerade of a convention.
I'm not pining for the past, I want to make that clear. I'm not saying that the way I had to do it, the harder way where you had to carefully pause films and sketch costumes because the resources weren't online and the ability to screencap was limited, was better. I'm not putting a value judgment on it. I'm just saying it was very VERY different.
And I miss cosplay. I'd love to get back into it but I feel intimidated by all these tiktokers and amazing makeup artists. You all have so much talent💜.
Maybe one day...

Folks, do yourselves a favor. Set aside 10 minutes, and read this. This is one of the best pieces of writing I've seen in months. In fact, the last piece I saw that was this good was a previous Cat Valente post from last December.
This piece distilled all my anger and hopelessness about not just AI art but the state of creative industries right now and somehow, by the end, I was crying happy tears. I found reassurance and inspiration and solidarity. This is a symphony in written form. Also she coined "WORDROOMBA" for AI which I think we should all adopt.
An excerpt:
"I find it pretty interesting that when most other advancements in automation have arrived, the sales pitch has usually involved describing ways in which it will improve the lives of every day people as a kind of sugary treat to drown out the taste of a dystopian future. Yeah, yeah, full self driving is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER but everyone will be able to operate their own robo-taxis and get SO MUCH passive income with JUST THEIR CAR it won’t matter (don’t think about truckers or infrastructure or the supply chain)! You don’t want to have to make small talk with cashiers anyway, right? Everyone is going to have their own 3D printer manufacturing plant in their living rooms, so it’s fine if factory work gets Thanos-snapped! Tipping is just so onerous, wouldn’t a robot waiter be super fun and even less social interaction? COME ON HUMAN CONSUMER, GET ON BOARD, I’M LOVIN’ IT.
But with ChatGPT, literally the first thing I heard about it was a Reddit donkey-chorus of HA HA WHITE COLLARS ARE ALL REPLACED GET FUCKED. DOUBLE FOR WRITERS, YOU’RE NOT ENTITLED TO A CAREER JUST DOING BOOKS AHAHAHA CAN’T WAIT TIL IT CAN CODE BETTER AND MAKE YOU HOMELESS, TECHIES.
There was real hostility to some of this sentiment. Maybe. It’s been hard to say who online is a real person and who is a script for some time now. Perhaps it’s because one of the canned responses to other industries falling to automation was: writing code is always safe because someone has to make the robots go. Or that art would be safe because human creativity can’t be automated. But now we’re all seeing that it’s entirely possible that it can, and no one is safe at all. So perhaps there is some schadenfreude at play as a big cultural domino falls and virtually no profession remains a safe bet to get out of the first half of the 21st century intact.
But fucking hell."
