My Chemical Romance (commonly abbreviated to MCR or My Chem) is an American rock band from Newark, New Jersey. The band's current lineup consists of lead vocalist Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way. They are considered one of the most influential rock groups of the 2000s and a major act in the pop-punk and emo genres, despite the band rejecting the latter label.
Founded in September 2001 by Gerard, Mikey, Toro, and drummer Matt Pelissier (and later joined by Iero), the band signed with Eyeball Records and released their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major-label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004. Shortly after the album's release, Pelissier was replaced by Bob Bryar. The album was a commercial success, attaining platinum status over a year later.
The success of the band's previous albums was eclipsed by that of their 2006 rock opera concept album, The Black Parade. A major commercial success, its lead single "Welcome to the Black Parade" topped the UK singles chart. The album solidified the band's following, despite negative coverage in the Daily Mail generating controversy. The band's fourth studio album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released in 2010. Bryar departed the band prior to the release of the album, and in 2012, they added touring keyboardist James Dewees. In 2012 and 2013, the band released a series of singles they had recorded in 2009 under the collective title Conventional Weapons. My Chemical Romance announced its breakup on March 22, 2013. In 2014, a greatest hits album titled May Death Never Stop You was released and a tenth-anniversary reissue of The Black Parade was released in 2016.
On October 31, 2019, the band announced a reunion show, which took place in Los Angeles on December 20, 2019. In January 2020, they announced additional shows and a Reunion Tour, which commenced in 2022 after a two-year postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic and concluded in early 2023.

Hello and Welcome!
This is a blog dedicated to Journey to the West, where anyone interested may join in and follow along in a journey through Wu Cheng’en’s classic. This reading group will be focused on the Anthony C. Yu English translation, which the ever-interesting @journeytothewestresearch has helped provide completely free to download and read as pdfs! The link can be found below:

In full awareness that everyone has their own busy lives and differing schedules, this reading group is working off of a “do-as-you-want” model. Everyone is welcome to submit their analysis, art, reactions, memes, criticisms, additions of context, etc. as we make our way through the journey, but there is no pressure but to have fun with the work!
That said, there is a reading schedule. This reading group has now made it through Volume 1 of this classic, and will start up Volume 2 on February 11, 2024. The reading schedule encourages all interested to read one JTTW chapter per week. This group then "meets" every Sunday, which is be the day participants are encouraged to finish that week's chapter and/or submit their creative/analytical pieces about it. Sunday will also be the day where I will give a quick recap of that week's chapter, and will mass reblog anything participants submitted to have that work in the archive. Again, this blog has now made it through Volume 1, and will start keeping to the reading schedule for Volume 2 starting February 11, so please have read “Chapter 26: Amid the Three Islands Sun Wukong seeks a cure; With sweet dew Guanshiyin revives a tree,” by then. You’ll find the reading schedule for Volume 2 below, and while not necessary I do encourage everyone to give a look at Yu’s introduction to this text in Volume 1 as well.
I want to end by stressing that it is completely understandable that new members would be concerned about joining after the reading schedule has officially started, and indeed after we have made it through the first volume. As such, I want to confirm that while this group encourages people to send in their submissions on Sunday for the chapter covered that week, you should feel completely free to both submit your stuff on any day of the week that’s best for you, as well as to send in art, memes, analysis, commentary, etc. for every chapter that has already been covered according to the reading schedule. In other words, all I’m going to ask is that your “late” submissions are in line with what happens in Volume 1 and/or chapters in Volume 2 that the group has already read as laid out in the reading schedule below. So for example you should feel free to submit the sketches you made about Chapters 26, 27, 28, and 29 on the Monday-Saturday of the week following the Sunday this book club finished Chapter 29, but please save your meme about Chapter 30 for the Sunday that chapter was scheduled to be read. So start, read, and submit as you can!

I think we all sometimes yearn for the days when we thought Marvel would let the Avengers be friends who all lived together and fought supervillains in between movie nights.
Though these stories weren't all written or set in 2012 post-Avengers 1 era, but they all feature that team hanging out, having fun, and supporting each other through difficulties.

Barnett Frank (born March 31, 1940 -) is a former American politician who served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1981 to 2013. In 1987, he publicly came out as gay, becoming the first member of Congress to do so voluntarily. From 2003 until his retirement, Frank was the leading Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, and he served as committee chairman when his party held a House majority from 2007 to 2011. Frank, a resident of Newton, Massachusetts, was considered the most prominent gay politician in the United States during his time in Congress.
At one point, Frank was one of the most powerful gay politicians in the country. And that is what pushes him from 'OK' to downright 'fuckable'. The cachet of his being a powerful gay politician has let him skirt past some sexual scandals that would have torpedoed most politicians' careers and, cumulatively, would have sunk any other career politician. From hiring male prostitutes, letting them work out of his home, growing weed on the premises, even fixing tickets. Barney, Barney, Barney… You can’t turn a hoe into a house wife.
Anyway, in 2012, he married his long-time partner, becoming the first member of Congress to marry someone of the same sex while in office. Surprisingly, he was a big dick top who liked twinks. Ok… maybe that wasn't a surprise.

Javy Machado's number for the San Diego Daggers is 11 for 2 reasons: Javy and Nat got married October 31, 2011, 11 days before their twins Trace and Jules were born on November 11, 2011 (11-11-11).
Jake and Ellie Seresin's daughter Kingsley was born March 30, 2012.
Javy and Jake have been best friends since they met in 2009 when they both joined the LA Kings.
Jake transferred to the Dallas Stars in 2012 after splitting with Ellie to be closer to a support system to help raise Kingsley.

For the record, I wish Kate well and a speedy recovery for whatever problem she has been admitted to The London Clinic for.
Because I do not believe for one second that she was admitted for "abdominal surgery." That was "planned." And needs to be in the hospital for 10-14 days, even though it's "non-cancerous."
Once you've eliminated surgeries related to cancer, then you've eliminated a whole bunch of surgeries that have long recovery times.
Hernia surgeries don't require three months of "recovery," and in the US, they certainly don't require you to be in the hospital (aka germ factories) for 10-14 days.
I suppose being in the hospital on iv antibiotics for a diverticulitis procedure is a possibility, except that the recovery from any kind of diverticulitis surgery is A LOT LESS than three months.
Easter is on 31 March 2024. Saying she won't do any public duties UNTIL April is two and a half to three months of "recovery."
And no, hysterectomies do not take that long to recover from.
Just ask Camilla.

The Duchess of Cornwall is to have a hysterectomy, it was announced last night.
Camilla will undergo surgery to remove part or all of her womb at the beginning of next month.
She will spend around four days in hospital then a further six weeks recovering.
The 59-year-old duchess will still go on a ten-day visit to the Gulf states with Prince Charles, beginning next Monday.
It is thought royal gynaecologist Marcus Setchell will carry out the operation at the private King Edward VII Hospital for Officers in London soon after she returns. She has cancelled a string of engagements.
That's right.
Clarence House announced when Camilla would be out of the public eye BEFORE the surgery happened. Not after she was admitted to the hospital.
Somehow Kate's "abdominal surgery" was "planned," yet William's entire schedule needs to be reworked all of the sudden? As in, announcing today that he needs to not do any public duties for a certain period of time until Kate is okay at home. Hey, it's not as if Kate has two parents who are retired. Two siblings. Other relatives. Or a nanny. Housekeeper. Other staff. Etc.
Because if this really was a "planned" surgery and not a sudden emergency, then why were KP comms teams leaking a trip to Rome less than a month ago?
And Russell Myers was leaking that Will & Kate were going to go abroad to visit the British military LAST WEEK???
Someone isn't being honest about what is going on, and it's definitely not me.
It sounds to me that The Princess of Wales had a nervous/mental breakdown and needed to be hospitalized. Except that they can't say that, so they're going with "planned" "abdominal surgery."
Because if it really was "planned" and not cancerous, then why wouldn't William be able to do an engagement here or there over the next few weeks? If the KP comms team is going to pretend that this is just a routine surgery--not urgent or emergent--then why is their behavior NOT matching the statements?
Crown Prince Haakon does engagements even when his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been ill.
Prince Albert works even when Princess Charlene has been ill.
But William's ENTIRE schedule needs to be reworked even though Kate's parents are retired and she has two siblings nearby and other friends and relatives? (And and other helpers...)

Happy 10th wedding anniversary to Andrea Casiraghi and Tatiana Santo Domingo!
The couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony in the Princely Palace of Monaco on 31 August 2013. A religious ceremony was later held in Gstaad, Switzerland, on 1 February 2014.
Their engagement was announced by Princess Caroline in July 2012, following a seven-year relationship. Tatiana gave birth to the couple’s first child Sasha Casiraghi, on 21 March 2013. Their second child, a daughter named India, was born in London on 12 April 2015. Their third child, a boy named Maximilian Rainier, was born in Monaco on 19 April 2018.

On This Day in F1: February 23
Present: Testing Day 3
History: 1958 Juan Manuel Fangio Kidnapped
February 23rd was the last day of testing and once more red flagged due to a drain cover. Instead of 2 sessions, there was one long session with drivers switching off halfway through.
With testing over, there’s only a few days until the first race of the year. The Bahrain Grand Prix will be on Saturday March 1st.
In 1958, February 23rd was not marked by the end of testing, but rather a kidnapping.
In 1957, President Batista of Cuba established the Cuban Grand Prix as a non-Formula One race. Despite it being a non-Formula One race, many F1 drivers did travel to Cuba for the race. The 1957 running had been won by Juan Manuel Fangio.
However, when Fangio returned to Cuba for the second running of the race, it was not as successful as his 1957 run. During practice, Fangio had set the fastest times and was the favorite to win. But on February 23rd - the day before the Grand Prix - Fangio was kidnapped by two men from Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement.
The intention was that Fangio's kidnapping would force Batista to cancel the Cuban Grand Prix and embarrass Batista's government. Despite the kidnapping of Fangio - the 1957 F1 World Champion - Batista ordered that the race happen while the police searched for Fangio. To ensure the race happened, Batista set up:
Roadblocks at intersections
Guards for all airports - private and commercial
Guards for the other drivers
Fangio was handed to the Argentine embassy after the race was finished and Batista's inability to find Fangio's captors was a sign that he was losing his power.
In an interview with the New York Times, Fangio asserted that his kidnappers had treated him kindly.
Instead of Fangio, Stirling Moss would go on to win the 1958 Cuban Grand Prix, but it remains a race marred by tragedy. Cuban driver, Armando Garcia Cifuentes was driving a Ferrari and was inexperienced. Six laps into the race, Cifuentes crashed into the crowd killing seven people and injuring 31 others.
