Here are all the mixed drinks at the Screaming Banshee for day 19 of the Drewtober challenge (I didn't do the root or birch beer this go around). In a bit of a twist, all of them were actually pretty good except for the Peat Bog (but with a name like that no real surprise). My top pick is the Leprechaun's Lunch (think a Shamrock Shake but mintier and less sweet), but the Afterglow was also pretty good (think a mocktail version of a tequila sunrise and you can't even taste the tomato juice)!
Day 10 - Secret of Shadow Ranch - Francis Humber’s Shadow Ranch Cake.
Shadow Ranch was both the first Nancy Drew book I read and the first game I played from the series! My parents bought it because it had a horse on the front and I was hardcore horse girl. (And if my love of centaurs is any indication, still am!)
Day 8 of Drewtober, Captain Cove's Fundae. I got halfway through making this IRL and realized my partner ate all the ice cream so maybe it will be completed another day :-P
You ever have an idea that got away from you? That was me for day 30 of the Drewtober challenge.
At first I was like, "hur, hur, hur, let's make a recipe to become Queen of Hades, ingredients= 6 pomegranate seeds.
But I already know I won't be able to do anything great for SEA (spoilers but a lot of that food is cured and takes a long time) and to have two low-effort days in a row was not something I wanted to do especially right at the end of the challenge…
So I tried to think about what other things I could do. Make something with pomegranate seeds, eh maybe… What did I like about LIE? Well I always really liked Xenia's Queen of the Underworld dress… maybe… but what is the connection to pomegranate seeds...
SSH is the first ND game I ever played all the way through, so today was special to me in @knock-off-krolmeister 's Drewtober fun (PS They also did an amazing drawing of the cookies here)! Here is a nice version of Taylor Sinclair's Oaxacan Cookies. I modified this recipe from the Washington Post a little bit to fit with my experience of Oaxacan-based chocolate (it is by no means accurate but I always remember tasting almonds and more spice in the chocolate).
Making this recipe has also made me come to a very bland headcanon. Headcanon and minor spoilers below the cut.
In the game, Taylor's cookies look like they have a white cream filling... but in all my research I didn't come across this as a thing. So my headcanon now is that Taylor couldn't handle the spice and put in a cream filling to make them more palatable to him but that is the part that went rancid (because let's be honest I've eaten my share of old cookies and never had that vomitous a reaction) since cream/butter based things are much less stable at room temp.... Like I said very bland headcanon lol
Drewtober, day 5... Mama-Mia Pizzaria pizza from FIN. I modelled my recipe off chain pizza joints so it is a little puffier than NY-style pizza... but FIN is in St. Louis not NY so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Day 7 of Drewtober was the Bone Yard's Birch Beer (if memory serves, kept on tap particularly for Vivian Whitmore). I don't have any birch syrup or birch saplings so no real world version today :-P
Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,
day 27 of Drewtober has come.
Birthday cake, a mark of happier times,
a tipping point for family crimes…
So I made a quarter recipe so my cake was very small (10 cm/ 4" in diameter at the widest point) and am not great at icing stuff at the best of time, so I wasn't able to fit the text on my version...
I chose red and black sprinkles to match Charlotte's dress for the inside, but I think I would recommend rainbow sprinkles to match the outside of the cake.
Big Island Mike's shave ice too expensive for you? Here is a pretty simple recipe for making your own for day 15 of Drewtober!
Here is my cherry, coconut, and banana interpretation (definitely my favourite flavours and not at all because I didn't have any other flavouring extracts or juices left).
Official Drewtober Food Prompt list. Feel free to complete it throughout the month of September or October (or whenever you want, really). Not interested in art? Bake or make the foods and share a photo of what you created.
Thanks to everyone in the Clue Crew who wrote to me with suggestions on what foods might be best for the games I was waffling on. I greatly appreciate all the help!
I'm happy to reblog anyone's work or photos if you either tag me at @knock-off-krolmeister or use the hashtag 2022DrewtoberFood.
Let me know if you want me to post this challenge on Instagram as well, and what month you were thinking of doing the challenge. I'll provide more information later on about which account I'll use if enough people are interested in participating.
It needs more work and suggestions from everyone, but I wanna make a monster list too for Drewtober, with monsters based on things you encounter in the games. That might become the October one...
My first kick at the can for day one of Drewtober as instigated by @knock-off-krolmeister here. For the menu item from Maxime's, I went with the Daryl, which I assumed that Jake designed to represent Daryl a.k.a. basic as white bread (at least in the remaster)
