hm… I dunno if I can say I have like. A concrete process. i am self taught and like by no means an expert on art and therefore I may not be able to provide the greatest advice but i can try to make sense of generally how I draw!

most of the time when I do digital I start out with a rough sketch and then go to lineart, but sometimes (esp cause I just don’t always enjoy doing lineart) I just skip that step and use my rough sketch and color that in. But usually when I am working on a bigger fullbody character for the rough sketch I will draw just their base body first on one layer and draw things like their hair/clothes/accessories/etc on other layers to kinda help me figure out where things are gonna go, so it’s less messy if I need to change something.

As for poses, I use CSP and it’s 3D model tool is super helpful for me, cause I struggle with proportions and posing if I don’t have a good reference. However the one catch is that sometimes if you rely too much on those models your posing can look stiff, so sometimes (if I have the spoons) I will draw a simple stick body like usual over the model, and then draw another stick body next to it but this time I’ll try to exaggerate the pose. Make it more interesting. sometimes I’ll do the same w facial expressions.

Tbh a way I’ve improved my expressiveness is just by studying/taking in art styles I really like. like for example I love the styles in some anime and also some 80s/90s cartoons, so sometimes I take the time to just look over how those art styles move and flow and sometimes I just practice trying to incorporate some of those style changes in my art. (ngl I think one of the biggest factors in my art becoming more expressive over the past year or two was watching one piece lmao)

For things like shading/coloring, I’m not as much of an expert and I still need to learn a lot in that department, but one thing that has helped me is shading the same piece two ways. Learning that there are hard shadows on an object and softer, ambient shadows as well. Usually when I am doing a nicer piece I will go in with a harder paintbrush to add in my hard, defined shadows, and then on another layer I will add soft shadows to the piece with an airbrush. I’ll do the same with lighting too. It adds a lot of depth.

Evaluation

· Briefly explain what your final piece is and how you came up with the idea.

My final piece represent 3 different outfits that represents a woman in her daily life.

First, she could be a sweet women being comfortable in her own personal space at home.

Two, when is about business she takes it seriously and is involved in this field.

Third, she can be a loved woman and all her attention is going to be on her partner and dinner but unfortunately i did not have time to finish this off, i did wanted to but when i was working and cutting the pieces in squares in Photoshop i forgot to cut the main face and small details of the last idea (dinner) it is a shame that i did not complete it but as soon as i will give this project in hand i will take my time with this one

So what i did was a photo shoot in the studio together with my model i chose 3 different outfits that represent the ideas that i gave you above.

The idea came up as soon as they introduced us the finale piece and i just knew that i want to chose fashion because i am into it but there is always a but so what happened is that, first i wanted to create a triangular prism 3D net with those 3 different outfits that i have taken photographs of and that it is that was supposed to be my finale piece but when my teacher came over to discuss about my finale image he made me think more deeply of how can i created more 3D so i researched on google images what materials can i use to build my 3 D sculpture so i thought about a plate fork knife spoon that represent the third outfit such as the dinner date because again if we use connotations, spoon knife plate fork makes you think about having a dinner either at home or restaurant, then a board for the second outfit business (smart) a board represent business because there is where you are going to write, analyse, resolve your ideas problems so what else i could have chosen for my sculpture support but a board? and finally a cushion i researched a cushion to be the support of my sculpture 3D because it represent being yourself at home.

What inspired me to be honest nothing too much but of my previous work that i like working with fashion i thought of the studio and i said that i will take my photographs in the studio and because i used a cardboard to lift my sculpture up is because i have done it before 2 years ago when it was introduced to us in the classroom as a 3D.

· Why did you decide to use the method of creating your 3D sculpture?

I decided because when my teacher came over to me and made me think about it i was really struggling to find something that it will show as a 3d sculpture so when i thought about it i reminded my self that i know a method and i practiced it again and i said to my self that i shall take the risk and not experienced it again but put it in practice this time.

· What materials did you decide to use and why? What materials did you try? Discuss thickness, how you assembled it, what method of sticking/fastening and why? Do the materials relate to the space the sculpture is placed in? The materials that i used are cardboard, double tape, scissors, glue and paper. I decided to use those materials because cardboard is thick enough to stuck my photograph on it so i did it and then the double sided tape it helped me out to build, lift and stick either cardboard or the small little blocks made out of cardboard. I tried to use glue instead of tape but “i tried” it was not working because when i tried to stick my board it wouldn’t t stay but move slightly so i said no and also if i was to use glue instead tape when i was building the small blocks it wouldn’t be the same because the tape is quite thick and has got a bit of height and wide so i used it the tape so it can reach the blocks,although the glue was a way much faster i decided to not use it and take my time with the double tape which i had to use the scissor for every single bit of blocks and photographs stuck on the cardboard. I think it does relate as the photographs talk what it is about and the little details around the main photographs are saying that it relate to my sculpture.

I feel somehow relieved and to be completely honest i don’t like this project not at all and i am not finding excuses because maybe of the lack of ideas but 3d things are not my type and somehow i managed to do this one as well and what i am trying to say that in the future hope i don’t welcome more kind of this projects and the process was a bit tiring as i had to be patient with all the pieces that i had to stick and especially the tape but in rest everything went smoothly.

How would you change the outcome if you had more time

I would have completed the third idea of dinner if i had more time but unfortunately i did not get enough time and the first outfit i would have put my model to wear socks instead of shoes because it looks more like she is at home.
