I don’t know how I never played any of the Nancy Drew games as a kid, I love point and click and I love Nancy drew and I would have been all over them!! My sister and I are playing through them together now and it is just an absolute joy. (She is however much better at puzzles than me so idk maybe they would have frustrated me as a kid)

Also it’s giving me some inspo to ~actually~ practice drawing and backgrounds etc. so anyway here’s treasure in the royal tower WIPS. I really want to do some actual illustrations from these games.

Also Evelyn/gabsmoulders streams are just prime content for background comfort noise when pain flares or fatigue keep me in bed.

Did Her Interactive just announce an announcement for a new game as an April Fools day joke?

Highlighted letters in the email spell out “Thirty Four” but the red letters in Nancy’s letter spell “you’ve been hacked”.

So I had a random dream about a new Nancy Drew game and the whole game just took place in one room but there was like a time travel type mechanic you had to use to solve different puzzles to solve the bigger mystery. Each time leap would take you to a different point in the Nancy Drew history (i.e., 1930s OG, 1950s sanitized, 1970s ND/HB, 1980/90s Files, 2000s Girl Detective, etc.) and different clues would be revealed depending when you were and what tech you had available to you... sort of a love letter to the girl detective and her past...

The bonus day of the Drewtober challenge was the Johnny Cakes from MID. So not to potentially step on any toes, but the ones in-game just seem like pancakes to me. The ones I am more familiar with are more like cornmeal patties. It could be a regional difference thing, but here is a recipe for the Johnny Cakes I am more familiar with.

I really did try to get the patterns but it just was not working for me in the slightest that day. My griddle wasn't working great (hence the very pale cakes) and my carefully cut-out stencils blew into the sink and turned to soapy piles of paper.

Last official day of the Drewtober challenge!!! Thank you @knock-off-krolmeister for setting all this up and generally being awesome!

I chose Harðfiskur as my option from the Misti Skip menu. If you have an opportunity, I'd recommend trying it as I think it is delicious! I got the steps for how to make it from this website.

I live in a place with shared outdoor space so I couldn't do this one IRL without causing a bit of a stir... Hope other people choose to do this challenge in the future, as it was a lot of fun to do and I'd really love to see other people's interpretations of the food from Nancy Drew, whether it be in art form, recipe form, fanfiction form, or some other awesome way!

You ever have an idea that got away from you? That was me for day 30 of the Drewtober challenge.

At first I was like, "hur, hur, hur, let's make a recipe to become Queen of Hades, ingredients= 6 pomegranate seeds.

But I already know I won't be able to do anything great for SEA (spoilers but a lot of that food is cured and takes a long time) and to have two low-effort days in a row was not something I wanted to do especially right at the end of the challenge…

So I tried to think about what other things I could do. Make something with pomegranate seeds, eh maybe… What did I like about LIE? Well I always really liked Xenia's Queen of the Underworld dress… maybe… but what is the connection to pomegranate seeds...

Today was a free space to look up traditional Maori cuisine in the Drewtober challenge. I've only ever had one Maori meal and in it was a Hāngī. It had a bunch of different meats like chicken, pork, and seafood (kai moana, I think is how they referred to it), and a lot of vegetables. Part of that meal was also fry bread.

I found this recipe for fry bread that seems very much like the one I had then (even if I messed it up in the execution by trying and failing to make triangle bread). Above is my adaptation based on the recipe I found and from tips my friend gave me back in the day.

So I spent a lot of in-game time making the prompt for day 28 of the Drewtober challenge because I had to regroup after bawling my eyes out after some of the cutscenes and phone calls.

This type of cookie was called Jammy Dodgers around me, but I am not sure if they go by this in Scotland.

Typically these things are about 5 - 7.5 cm/ 2-3" in diameter and that is what I assumed they were in the game but the prompt said giant so this one is about 20 cm/ 8" wide. The flavour profile is gingerbread so you can play with the spicing if you prefer more cinnamon, fewer cloves, etc.

Ladybird, ladybird fly away home, day 27 of Drewtober has come. Birthday cake, a mark of happier times, a tipping point for family crimes…

So I made a quarter recipe so my cake was very small (10 cm/ 4" in diameter at the widest point) and am not great at icing stuff at the best of time, so I wasn't able to fit the text on my version...

I chose red and black sprinkles to match Charlotte's dress for the inside, but I think I would recommend rainbow sprinkles to match the outside of the cake.
