Day 10 - Secret of Shadow Ranch - Francis Humber’s Shadow Ranch Cake.

Shadow Ranch was both the first Nancy Drew book I read and the first game I played from the series! My parents bought it because it had a horse on the front and I was hardcore horse girl. (And if my love of centaurs is any indication, still am!)

Most of the fandom's popular opinions I agree with, actually. I have a few hot takes, which are not objective assessments, but personal opinions. 😉

Three things that are over-rated:

-Having a crush on Henry Bolet. Don't @ me, I just...I can't comprehend the appeal of this skinny, anemic-looking white boy. He clearly isn't taking his recommended daily multivitamins. Henry doesn't need a girlfriend, he needs a therapist, Prozac, a walk in the sunshine and a hardy meal of steak and salad.

-"Shadow at the Water's Edge." I don't like math or jump scares. It wasn't the worst game, but it definitely wasn't the best compared to other games in my opinion.

-"Warnings at Waverly Academy." I didn't hate it, but I don't rate it as highly as many fan do. Also...gosh darn air hockey...gosh darn spoons.

Three things that are under-rated:

-Mini golf in "Secret of the old Clock." A lot of people find it annoying but back in my day I was a miniature golfing QUEEN.

-"Sea of Darkness" as a game. Everything about it was stunning and I don't think fans acknowledge it enough.

-"The Shattered Medallion." A lot of people were disappointed by it, and the plot WAS really bizarre, granted, but I liked the ambiance and the games. It was bright and cheery and the absurd characters made me laugh.

It’s me yo girl… jk I don’t think anyone follows me but it’s okay I’m just vibing and typing out my Nancy Drew thoughts bc THE NEW GAME IS COMINGGGGGGG! I’m so exciteeeeeed. They just posted more shit on Instagram/FB, I’m living for it, and I’m p high. So yeah, anyway…I was thinking about how I’m especially looking forward to Nancy Drew and the Mystery of the Seven Keys (sidenote: wonder what the acronym is going to be?!?!? MSK? MYS? KEY?)bc I LOVE the ND storylines in general. Even the games that I really don’t fucks with and play as often (I’m looking especially at you, CRY, RAN, and MED), I still love clicking through most of the conversations, playing out the little side missions/mini games, and just exploring the overall gamescape. So…

Even if KEY (I’m going with that for myself for now) is as horrible to play as MID was, it will (hopefully!!!) still have a good storyline and fun little tasks and random phone calls … all of those classic ND things that make all the difference. Like… even with MID, I really did love the Johnny cake thing or whatever, and it was kinda cool to explore “Salem” and learn some history. I also LOVED the herbs task. But, of course, HATE HATE HATE the non-point-and-click… I can’t even put into words whatever the fuck MID used to move around! I am sure there is a word for it, but frankly, I don’t care to use it. I hated it. 0/10. Still hate it. But, again, I know I’ll go back to it SOMEDAY bc I get in just the right mood… all bc of that storyline and the characters … and the herbs!!!!! But back to KEY…

The Czech Republic?!?!?!? I cannot WAIT to see more of the environment. I am SO EXCITED to find out how/why ND finds herself there. And, of course, I’m looking forward to playing the coffee (I think???) mini-game that HER keeps teasing!!!

I’m also LOVING the clues that HER keeps posting. That energy is really great and so appreciated! And, special shout-out to all of the fucking smart ass mofos out there who keep solving their little hints and clues and puzzles (which are all HARD AF, in my humble opinion) and then posting them for lazy ppl like me!!!! I love a good walkthrough, love all of the helping hands… I do really TRY to solve a lot of puzzles myself, but when it comes to the more difficult ones (especially these clues that HER keeps posting! Like damn!), I usually need some assistance, lol.

Hey OFMD fandom, the Ineffable fandom sends their Mascot. I was supposed to do this many days ago, but the OFMD tag on tumblr was filled with... things. This time, I gained my knowledge from Pinterest instead, and I, Asmi, of the Good Omens Fandom, am rooting for you all!

THAT BEING SAID. WHAT THE DEVIL IS THIS SHOW MEANT TO BE? AS USUAL, I UNDERSTAND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS, BUT TAKE A SUMMARY ANYWAY:

It is gay. Of this at least, I am very sure.

There are pirates. The pirates are the above gays.

There is a guy named Ed who is Blackbeard, and he is very soft and shares trauma and has grey hair.

He is in love with Stede, who writes him bottle letters and throws them away.

Ed is not happy about the throwing away part. I think he wanted to read the letters.

They read the letters together.

There is a guy named Lucius and someone kisses him and they do a victory punch. They break up because of fish.

Someone named Izzy has a redemption arc.

There are colonisers. They are British. This makes sense, at least.

The colonisers are not homophobic, they merely find love pathetic.

In the 1600s male pirates married each other and that's where the term 'matey' originated. I do not know. This is what Pinterest yelled at me.

Uh Ed pulled a Crowley on Stede and instead of Alpha Centauri asked him to run away to China with him.

Stede ran away from him instead.

Izzy was not a father figure to Ed. Discuss. It is something involving horniness and unrequited love.

Izzy died.

Ed was upset under a blanket. Stede respected this.

Ed built a blanket fort. Is this a running theme?

I understood nothing more because I can't make out whether 'ship' refers to relationship or the actual fucking ship. What does 'Steve does fixing in the ship' MEAN IS THIS MARRIAGE COUNSELLING OR NAVAL ENGINEERING?

EVEN THOUGH I UNDERSTOOD NOTHING, THIS SEEMS LIKE A GAY FUCKING DISASTER. RENEW IT. GO SLAY OFMD THE GOOD OMENS FANDOM IS BEHIND YOU.

Sad News Time

Unfortunately, if you visit the shop, you will notice that the majority of my products are no longer listed. My PC, at least for the foreseeable future, is no longer functional. All of my shop data was on that computer and I’m not sure if any of the data is recoverable. I’ll fill orders while supplies last. She’s finally done!! (From this WIP) I could probably continue refining if I wanted to, but I’m calling it here. Love ddi, loved making this.
