#1x1 resurrection

I rewatched the first episode of "Secret Invasion" which is called "Resurrection" (how dare you). And I don't really have any new thoughts but I want to shout out how Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion, the Lightning Lord) playing the ridiculously named Prescod in the opening, says the word "Skrulls."
I like to imagine the director being like, "we're going to push on you when you say this made up word and it's going to be cool." And him being like, "Okay here I go."

Señor Dixon Goes To Spain?
Let’s indulge in some wild speculating, based exclusively on hypotheticals and wishful thinking.
Tumblr media
Well well well! Daryl might be going to Spain! Excellent choice, it’s a beautiful country, I highly recommend, 10/10. And while it seems to have been officially confirmed just now, it’s not entirely surprising for people who’ve been paying attention.
We heard a reference to Spain already back in TWDDD 1x1 L’âme Perdue, when Isabel showed Daryl around the convent, and they came across a radio. Isabel mentioned that the last person she’d been in contact with was a Spaniard a few months ago:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When seemingly random stuff like this gets brought up, it’s normally fair to assume it’s symbolism or foreshadowing, and I felt pretty certain Spain would come up again sooner or later.
Then later, we meet Losang. He’s the leader of the Nest, and he first came in contact with the nuns and Laurent on his way back from a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. "Compostela" refers to "the field of stars" under which the pilgrims traveled, a reference to the Milky Way.
Tumblr media
That certainly tickles my TD brain, concidering how many astronomical references we have had around Beth, such as Sirius and Venus, satellites and eclipses to name a few.
Camino de Santiago to Santiago de Compostela is one of the world's most famous pilgrimages, and can be reached through a number of different routes. Isabel's convent was situated relatively close to the starting point of the French Way:
Tumblr media
I have a whole theory in my drafts on potential references to El Camino de Santiago from years ago, which I might have to revisit now. Also, keep in mind that the working title of TWDDD was "Pilgrim":
Tumblr media
But the most compelling thing about filming in Spain is an absolutely brilliant discovery made by @galadrieljones back when the final season of FTWD aired. We see Dwight, Morgan and Sherry share a scene, and a series of coordinates were given, supposedly to a P.A.D.R.E repeater station.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In reality, the coordinates corresponded with an area of the Atlantic Ocean near an archipelago called the Canary Islands. The islands, though situated off the coast of west Africa, are Spanish territory, and are famous (and slightly infamous, to be honest) for hordes of pale, vitamin D-deficient, sun-deprived north Europeans like myself as a holiday destination.
Tumblr media
The part of it that’s particularly interesting for TD is that the etymology of the word Canary/Canarias shows it is derived from Latin “Canis”, meaning dog.
Tumblr media
And as we know, that’s Sirius symbolism. Sirius means return/rebirth/resurrection. It refers to Sirius the Dog Star, who returns to the sky one morning right before dawn, after having been “just gone” for some time. I've written many posts on that, here's one.
There’s even a particular type of dog breed that’s associated with the Canary Islands, Presa Canario:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a fun fact, in TWDDD season 1, Daryl’s original plan to get home involved getting on a boat that would eventually take him to Newfoundland, Canada. That’s also a dog reference, it refers to Newfoundland dogs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As I’ve been saying, dog symbolism is Sirius symbolism, we learned that from 4x13 Alone. It means return/rebirth/resurrection. Daryl’s plans to return via Newfoundland fell through when he had to save Laurent from walkers, but the symbolism of it is still valid.
And as an extra fun fact, there’s even a location on Newfoundland, Canada, with the name Canary Islands…
Tumblr media
…do with that what you will...
Another really interesting thing about the Canary Islands is that they provide an excellent starting point for transatlantic crossings. This is due to the consistent trade winds that blow from east to west, and sailors have taken advantage of this phenomenon for centuries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, we don’t know if Daryl will make it to the Canary Islands, and even if he doesn’t, I’m still exited about Spain, for the reasons laid out above. But the potential reference to the Canary Islands through the coordinates from FTWD is a super interesting clue, and it involves dog/Sirius symbolism, which makes me very happy.
Also, the coordinates from FTWD supposedly led to a repeater station, which is a radio reference. That means, the repeater station is a Sirius symbol both as a radio reference, as well as a dog reference, in that the coordinates in reality points to a stretch of ocean near the Canary Islands.
Whatever the coordinates were meant to signify, they sure as hell didn’t point to no repeater station in Georgia.
So yeah. Might be nothing, but could be something. The off-season is for speculating.

Delicious in Dungeon Reading Diary Vol 3
Spoilers, obviously
So they confirm that dog guy on the B team IS a kobold, and not a different species.
You can tell the author has actually played DnD, cause a debate on what does and does not count as cannibalism is very authentic.
Since they are focusing on the kraken having eaten too many mid-size monsters, I wonder if it's an invasive species, or just grew too big for the ecosystem to support it. It seems to be the later, since they don't seems surprised to see it there.
1x1 lego brick
Tumblr media
Oooh Marcille backstory.
I wrote in my notes that it's interesting that they have Falin be seen as a worse student then Marcille, cause in the present the opposite is true. But then they show that not only does falin have much better practical knowledge, it's shown at the end that Marcille likely exaggerated how good she was in school, so that clears that up.
What ISN'T cleared up is how it makes no sense that Falin and Marcille were in school at the same time. Marcille is WAY older then Falin, this much was confirmed in the mimic chapter. There is a slight chance they explain this, but for now it seems like a plothole, albeit on that doesn't really matter.
Oh crap, SHE'S here, from the first chapter.
Tumblr media
I was wondering how death worked in this setting ever since they mentioned resurrection magic, to the point where I considered typing up a bit about it, asking questions like "do people just live forever if they can consistently get rezed? Does it not work on death of old age?" So it's neat to get an explanation that it's a dungeon thing, plus it helps explain things like ghosts and zombies.
This is wrong. He's practically naked without his helmet. Also how I won't be able to help but notice whenever his eyebrows should be visible under his helmet.
Tumblr media
Hmm. So mana doesn't come back passively, or at least not in the dungeon. In a way that almost makes it another nutrient that needs to be balanced in their food.
Excuse me? Propose? That should be very interesting when next we meet him.
Tumblr media
Makes me wonder why he of all people chose to leave Laios' party. Like surely saving her would be easier with the others.
Well this is just adorable. Especially how Chilchuck's doesn't line up so it's patchwork.
Tumblr media
Overall another good volume. I would say it gave me less to chew on then volume 2, but we're talking individual volumes of manga here so and difference in quality is very small. (Plus most of my thinking and theorizing last volume was because of one chapter). I have already checked out the next volume from my library and saw it has the red dragon on the cover, so that is very exciting. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Good morning on the last day of this first ever Greysnow week! Today is an extra day that we pay the iron price for, so I'm continuing that theme by shamelessly reccing OUR fics today.
Near Mint (surface marks do not affect play) by MymbleHowl @st-clements-steps
Rating: E
Summary: All Time Top 5 Break-ups (in chronological order)
1. Robb
2. Jeyne Poole
3. Renly Baratheon
4. Kyra and Patrek
5. Gilly
Jon Snow is not getting into the Top 5.
Dany says: Where do I start with this gem? It's the High Fidelty AU I had no idea I needed until @st-clements-steps came up with it and then I was already gone, hook, line and sinker. The title in itself is already genius, but then when you read further that pales in comparison to how fucking brilliant this is. The AU is perfectly translated and all our beloved characters and their stories drafted for the fic fit seamlessly. All the Top 5s are hilarious and relatable and/or discussable, and inside all of that you have two sad boys who need to find their way back to each other ♥️ Please do yourself a favour and go read it, and then go and read all of the author's works, because Greysnow or not, her way with words is one of the most unique and fascinating things I've ever encountered.
Mirror at the Wall by @selkiewife
Rating: M
Summary: Theon is reunited with a resurrected Jon at Castle Black. Jon has suffered significant memory disturbances and Theon must help him remember who he is.
Dany says: This. Fic. Is. SPECTACULAR. Two men, broken beyond recognition, but still there, still alive and now reunited after being through the wars - and they do recognize each other (sobs galore!!) The attention to both Jon and Theon's characters is stunning, the descriptions gritty and evocative, the whole AU idea so so SO good. Special mention to Satin, the true MVP. 2 more chapters of this masterpiece are coming, and I couldn't be more thrilled! Go and read and subscribe and bookmark, you won't regret it one bit.
Law of the North by theonsfavouritetoy, aka @owlsinathens, aka – well, me
Rating: E
Summary: Balon Greyjoy has once again declared himself king, sealing his son's fate in the North. Jon doesn't like Theon, never has – but he also cannot stand aside and watch an innocent man being put to death. So he decides to do something that'll change everything.
Dany says: I had a really hard time trying to choose one out of my 100+ Greysnow works (I have either too much time or too little self-control, or both), but in the end I decided to go with my longest fic (so far, I'm pretty sure 1x1 will be double that in the end). I can't objectively say anything about the quality, but I can tell you it was a blast to write and I still love everything about this fic.
....you know what? Since I'm paying the iron price, I'll be even more shameless and rec another of my fics.
Tighter by theonsfavouritetoy aka me
Rating: E
Summary: Theon carefully exhales, feeling his ribs expand against the fabric enclosing his torso, safe and comforting, and yet…
“Tighter.”
Dany says: So, there's this corset in a world where corsets don't exist, and from there everything snowballed and took on a life of its own, resulting in a massive project of a post-GoT Theon lives AU that I'm still in the process of tackling (Using this chance to say that the next ch of 1x1 is in the works). And it all started with Tighter. Which is a fantastic ficlet, and I'm only cringing a little saying that out loud. Please go read it 😏

Three/Tree/Trunk, Arm, and Red Head Symbolism via @frangipanilove
@frangipanilove:
So basically, I interpret the three/tree/trunk symbolism as different manifestations of the same symbol. It tells the story of resurrection.
Tumblr media
I’ve come to view cuffs as variants of this. Think of an open cuff, how it forms a number three. Three is synonymous with tree which is synonymous with trunk. Thee trunks = trunks of cars = number 3 symbols.
You brought up the arm symbolism above. I have a lot to say about that, but for the sake of brevity, let’s just say that arm = weapon. When Leah cut Daryl loose, the ropes were the cuffs in the scenario, cuffs and ropes are synonymous. First the cuffs/ropes were “closed”, then Leah used her RED knife (remember it’s synonymous with arm) to free Daryl, to “open the gate”, or basically what I like to call “red controls the gates”.
Tumblr media
Then think of the way an OPEN cuff forms a number 3. I always think of the red symbolism as something that indicates the presence of “gates” between the realms. They can be opened and closed, sometimes you benefit from the shelter of a closed trunk (like in Still). Other times, the same trunk can be a death trap (like the Beth walker in 5x10).
In Coda, we saw the arm symbolism intertwined with the red symbolism in the bloody red cast in which Beth hid her scissors (weapon, synonymous with the red Swiss Army knife Leah used to free Daryl). What we never saw was the immediate aftermath of the events at Grady, but we did see how the symbolism was applied in FM when Leah freed Daryl.
Tumblr media
The red knife (red controls the gate) was used to free a character from imprisonment (a metaphor for the death realm). We also saw that in Fear, when Alicia took a bite in the arm, developing the fever, which should have killed her but didn’t.
The arm symbolism is tied to escaping “death”. Beth had all kinds of arm symbolism happening to her, the cast, the scissors, her suicide attempt, her bracelets, and we see how arm symbolism is used to show how it’s entirely possible to “escape” death in this universe.
Tumblr media
In 5x10 we saw Carol give Daryl Beth’s knife. That knife represents Beth both to him and to us. And it’s a symbolical weapon that she can use to “defend” herself against “death”, if that makes sense. This again ties into what I discussed a few weeks ago, about how Morgan cut Rick loose from the ropes only after he was convinced that Rick was “cool”, meaning no fever. “It’s the fever that kills”, juxtaposed with young Alicia saying, “isn’t the fever’s supposed to kill the infection?”
See how it’s all interconnected? The scene where Leah cut Daryl loose in FM always seemed like a parallel to the scene from 1x1 with Morgan and Rick to me. Morgan cutting Rick loose represents “escaping death.” He would only do it after he was certain Rick didn’t have the fever, and it parallels Beth and Daryl stepping out of the trunk in Still. The trunk and the OPEN cuffs represent resurrection.
@wdway:
I was just thinking about the grouping of the pictures of the scene with Daryl/Leah in the tree trunk and Beth/Daryl in her prison cell open door. I did not use the prison scene initially because of the tree trunk connection with the car trunk. Now I'm re- thinking. It should have been Beth/Daryl at the open prison cell door, Beth/ Daryl in the trunk of the car and the 3rd (rule of 3) Daryl/Leah (Beth proxy) in the tree trunk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The car trunk represents imprisonment and then Resurrection and I always want to point out that Daryl helped Beth into the trunk, but Beth freely got herself out of the trunk alone. The prison cell is the ultimate imprisonment symbol. The open door just like an open trunk Beth freely came out of to Daryl. That makes sense to why the scene took place the way it did with Daryl standing just outside her prison cell door. Lastly Daryl and Leah in the trunk of the tree, so reminiscent of prison embrace except this time Daryl is the one that left the trunk of the tree, freeing himself from the imprisonment and of Leah. Just a few wild thoughts.
Daryl arguing with …
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@frangipanilove:
@wdway, I would add here that the whole Carol situation from s3 offers some insight into how the three/tree/trunk symbolism is applied. Remember how Carol got lost in the tombs, and Daryl thought she was dead. He even made her an (EMPTY) grave, decorated it with a Cherokee rose and grieved over her.
Tumblr media
When we later saw a jeep Cherokee in Coda, imo it was a subtle message to us from tptb about how Beth will survive. It was a reference to the three/tree/trunk symbolism. The Cherokee rose on Carol’s empty grave = Beth’s “grave” in a trunk. Carol survived by hiding in a cell in the tomb, Beth’s prison cell with the “3” symbolism is synonymous with trunk symbolism through precedence that was established with Carol in s3. And the Jeep Cherokee in Coda is synonymous with the resurrection part of the trunk symbolism.
And as we often see around the three/tree/trunk symbolism, the “trunk” can offer protection, like in Still and in Carols case in s3. But it can also be something that imprisons you, like we see in 5x10 with the Beth walker.
Tumblr media
In s3, Daryl found Carol’s knife, which he took as to mean Carol was dead. He thought she was reanimated in the cell. He struggled with the fact but eventually he opened the door (synonymous to the “gate”, synonymous to opening the trunk). He expected to find Carol reanimated, but instead he found her alive. He “bridal-carried” her out of the tombs, exactly like he carried Beth out of Grady, and it’s entirely purposeful.
It ties the tree/three/trunk symbolism around Beth to this one very significant example of someone close to him that “came back” from the dead. So many elements of the three/tree/trunk symbolism around Beth was first introduced around Carol.
Tumblr media
Remember how I’ve been talking about “redhead” symbolism? Leah’s red hair in FM? Before Carol disappeared in the tombs in s3 she was wearing a red headscarf. It was this red headscarf that sparked Daryl to start looking for her in the tombs. It was her red scarf that made him start to suspect that she was dead. Red controls the gate. And upon investigating further, he also found her knife which he interpreted as definitive proof she was dead.
In 5x10 we saw Carol give Beth’s knife to Daryl, which for the audience was “proof” that she was dead. It was pretty much the only time he heard anything about her until very recently. But, as was the case with Carol in s3, Beth wasn’t dead. Daryl still thinks she is, but I suspect he’ll learn the truth soon.
Tumblr media
In FM, we saw the red symbolism around Leah. Her hair, her red Swiss Army knife. We saw the three/tree/trunk scene in FM, an obvious remix of the eye-contact dance from 4x1. In the trunk scene from Still, the “red” symbolism was Daryl’s rag that held the trunk shut, the red rag was the key to their survival that night.
In s3, carols red head scarf was what had Daryl initially believe that she was dead. In Still, Beth was the one who untied the red rag and emerged from the trunk, alive and well. Not only did she do it herself, but she is also literally a person who “controls the gate”. She can move in and out of the underworld. She controls the “gates”, not the other way around.
When tptb used elements on the scenes from Carol’s fake death, the eye contact dance, three/tree/trunk symbolism in FM, they knew what they were doing. It was so shamelessly done I knew there was no way it was an accident. This was supposed to remind us of Beth directly.
Tumblr media
You initially talked about the parallels between Leah and Carol. I believe Carol’s fake death from s3 is instrumental to understanding what tptb are going for in paralleling Carol and Leah like that, at least on the symbolic level. Carol’s fake death was like a symbolical “dress rehearsal” for Beth’s fake death. We saw the tree three trunk symbolism, the knives, the redhead/“red controls the gates” symbolism …And when we saw the same symbolism pop up around Leah, it is imo a sign that we’re about to come full circle.
The redhead symbolism, the knife symbolism, the arm symbolism, the dog/Sirius/return symbolism. There was so much that was directly lifted from Beth and Daryl’s moments, like your screenshots demonstrates. None of that is an accident. I’ve talked so much about the river in FM as a symbolical borderland between the realms. It feels like what we see with Leah is something that reminds him of Beth, and maybe it’s because they’re in that liminal space between the realms, where the veil is thin and he’s “closer” to Beth.
I should stress that I don’t believe Beth’s literally in the death realm, she’s very much alive in some other part of TWDU. But as far as Daryl’s concerned, she might as well be in the death realm. And when I’ve talked about Leah as a Huldra, a creature of the underworld, I mean someone, who like Beth, is able to control the “gates” between the realms. She can move between the realms, she’s able to thrive in the liminal space between them. Carol has elements of this as well, as demonstrated by her surviving the tombs in s3.

The Sims 4: Survey of British Literature Legacy Challenge (#BritishLitLegacy)
Generation 1: Beowulf
Bodybuilder Aspiration
Military Career – Officer Branch
Traits: Active, Bro, Loves the Outdoors
You are Beowulf, hero and future king of the Geats. You pride yourself in your strength and valor in combat. Your fellow Bro friends regularly call upon you to join them at the gym – and often at the karaoke bar, where the sounds of your merrymaking anger your nemesis, Grendel.
Neighborhood brawl is your favorite holiday. You always participate in it and must fight people until you win at least one brawl.
You answer when your friends come calling. Any time someone asks you to join them (at a bar, gym, festival, etc.), you must say yes unless you are at work or about to go to work. When you’re at the bar with others, you always order a round of Barley Bales for your group.
Max the singing skill. While singing karaoke, make an enemy. If/when that enemy dies, you must make one of their family members your new enemy.
In your youth/young adult days, you gained a lot of your athletic skill from swimming. So, you must always have a pool of at least 1x1 tiles on your lot, no matter how little money you have.
As you progress through the military career, prominently display your military medals in your home.
Generation 2: The Nun’s Priest’s Tale from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales
Country Caretaker Aspiration
Self-Employed as a Farmer
Traits: Self-absorbed, Animal Enthusiast, Slob
Lot trait: Simple Living
You are Chaunticleer the rooster. (Well, kind of.) A large portion of this generation is a legacy challenge with your chickens—see below. They are your primary source of income. You may also build/make/sell things for extra money, but no one in your household may have a traditional a career.
You must begin this generation with one rooster named Chaunticleer and one hen named Pertelote. Think of this requirement as a legacy challenge of the chickens’ descendants. Your goal is to always have at least one “heir” chicken that descended from the original pair.
>> If chicken incest bothers you, you may manage your coop so that you replace elder chickens with a new unrelated mate for your heir-chicken, as needed.
>> If chicken incest doesn’t upset you, you may complete this requirement simply by having your chickens maintain their numbers without ever purchasing new chickens.
Win at least one chicken and/or egg contest at the Finchwick Fair.
Befriend any foxes that frequent your lot. Rabbits are cool, but what does the fox say?
Flirt with potential suitors constantly. You must have at least six significant others before you marry or settle down with your life partner.
Generation 3: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Motivations: Mansion Baron Aspiration
Athletic Career -- Either Track
Traits: Ambitious, Self-Assured, Unflirty
You are Sir Gawain, the youngest and most honorable of King Arthur’s knights. You live your life in search of the Green Chapel, the glorious mansion where your fate awaits you. Married sims find you extremely attractive, but you steadfastly reject their advances.
Become BFFs with someone who is married. That sim’s spouse is romantically interested in you (you can cheat for this, or just flirt with them a bit initially), but whenever they ask you out or come on to you, you refuse.
Surround yourself with situations that run the risk of death. For example, keep a cow plant, piranha pond, exploding toilet, fireplace with furniture next to it, etc., on your lot.
Cheat death at least once (i.e., die and be saved). You may want to give yourself a spouse or household member with high charisma skill so that they can successfully plead; otherwise, you may choose to have a household member resurrect you, and/or add your ghost back into the household.
Green is your favorite color, and you will always live in a green-colored house. (Yes, I know the knight is the one who is *actually* green, but I thought this would be a fun addition.) Ultimately, your green house will complete the mansion baron aspiration.
If you have Realm of Magic, befriend one of the three sages to represent Morgan Le Fay.
Generation 4: Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet
Motivations: Soulmate Aspiration
Critic Career -- Food Critic Branch
Traits: High-maintenance, Jealous, Romantic
You are Romeo/Juliet. In this interpretation of the story, you meet someone in high school who will change your life forever. At first, you dislike this sim, but the relationship quickly turns into passionate love instead. Luckily, a little birdie from the future warned you not to drink any poison, which inspires you to join the Food Critic career. (Because the legacy couldn’t continue if you died at age 13.)
Meet your future spouse in high school. At first you dislike each other (you do not have to go all the way to enemies; the dislike can be minor), but then almost immediately turn that dislike into love. You must get married the day that you age up from teen to young adult.
For some inexplicable reason, you are enamored with the theatre. At home, in secret, you max the acting skill even though you never actually participate in acting/drama/etc.
Because you fear accidentally ingesting poison, you feel the need to make your own beverages. One of your hobbies is making fizzy juice in your backyard. For added challenge, make the juice from plants you grow yourself. (If you don’t have Eco Lifestyle, you may choose a different food or drink related hobby.)
You and your spouse are madly in love. Throughout the course of your marriage, your goal is to woohoo in every available woohoo spot that you have installed in your game.
>> Locations include: Observatory, sauna, hot tub, bed, tent, shower, waterfall, closet, pile of leaves, sleeping pod (Get Famous), coffin, party bush, Brindleton Bay Lighthouse, rocket ship, money vault (Get Famous), dumpster, hot spring, ice cave (Snowy Escape).
Generation 5: Milton’s Paradise Lost
Leader of the Pack Aspiration
Secret Agent Career -- Villain Branch
Traits: Evil, Outgoing, Insider
You are Lucifer-turned-Satan. Everyone sees you as evil, but in reality, you’re just slightly mischievous and very misunderstood. As a teen, you fall out of favor with your parents and are left alone in the world. In response, you find yourself constantly seeking belonging as leader of a notorious club.
Style yourself (clothing, house/décor, etc.), however you’d like to interpret Satan and/or Lucifer. Interpretations include Goth and/or punk, extremely beautiful, angelic, and/or sexy, or a good old-fashioned lots-of-the-color-red and/or hair/hat styles that resemble horns.
Move out of your family’s home as a teen. You may take money from your parents to build your own house, but after the house is set up, you must earn money to pay the bills yourself.
Create your own club and earn the “notorious club” trait. Club activities may be whatever you wish, but your goal is to recruit as many people as you can to join this club. Try to recruit friends of your parents into your club (just to make them mad).
Win a voodoo doll from the humor & hijinks festival, and use it at least once a week.
Any time you are socializing and scroll past the option to “dare someone to streak,” you must do it. For added challenge, you may add other mischief interactions to this list.
Generation 6: Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels
Archaeology Scholar Aspiration
Political Career – Politician Branch
Traits: Child of the Ocean, Kleptomaniac, Snob
You are Lemuel Gulliver, an adventurer and accidental diplomat who just won’t stop going on adventures (no matter how poorly they end). You build your life learning about other cultures and sharing your own, but deep down, part of your heart will always belong to the sea.
Live in Sulani, where you participate in island living activities: swimming, boating, playing with dolphins and/or mermaids, sun-tanning, drinking kava, etc.
Your primary goal is to complete the Archaeology Scholar aspiration. Use the Politician career to make money, but don’t prioritize reaching the top of that career.
To represent your voyage to Lilliput, you must have triplet toddlers at some point in your life. (You can cheat for this, adopt, or just add them to your household in CAS.) To escape from Lilliput scot-free, all three of the toddlers must reach level 3 in all of their skills.
To represent your voyage to Brobdingnag, you must adopt a very large dog at some point in your life. The dog must have at least two negative/difficult traits.
After accomplishing the archaeology scholar aspiration, you become a recluse. Retire and/or quit your job, and change your lot trait to “private dwelling.”
Generation 7: Lord Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage
Writer Career -- Author Branch
Serial Romantic Aspiration
Traits: Romantic, Noncommittal, Vegetarian
You are Lord Byron—mad, bad, and dangerous to know. Although the rest of our generations are inspired by fictional plots, you live life according to Byron’s semi-autobiographical poem. You are a creative visionary, but also an unapologetic disaster bisexual who gets into trouble a bit too often.
Reach the top of the writer career, with a preference of working from home. As a writer, attain and maintain at least 3 stars of fame if you have Get Famous.
>> Earn enough reward points to purchase the Creative Visionary trait
You are a vegetarian who takes their health very seriously. Eat primarily garden salads and harvestables in order to attain the “health nut” lifestyle as soon as possible.
Live in a home that is inspired by nineteenth-century décor. If you have the Vampires pack or Décor to the Max kit, try to use those items, especially ones you don’t normally put in your builds.
Have at least 3 children with 3 different sims. All of your partners adore you—and yet, you have no interest in a serious commitment to any of them.
Either never get married, or if you do, continue cheating with many partners of many genders. Earning the player trait through your aspiration will help with this.
Generation 8: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
Motivations: Nerd Brain Aspiration
Engineering Career -- Mechanical Branch
Traits: Genius, Paranoid, Loner
Lot trait: Science Lair
You are Victor Frankenstein, the scientist in Mary Shelley’s novel. Many people think you’re a doctor, but you didn’t even make it through undergrad. You are so obsessed with discovering the secrets of “life itself” that all you can think about is building your Servo… until things go horribly wrong.
Meet your sole romantic partner in childhood, and remain close friends with them throughout your life. You may never live with your partner (see below), though you may have children and raise them in your own household.
Excel in high school and earn multiple scholarships to start college (attempting a robotics degree) but drop out after completing your first semester in order to build your own Servo at home.
Get engaged only to have your spouse tragically die during or immediately after your wedding—you may use a cheat for this. You will want to have children/potential new heirs before the wedding in order to make this work.
After your spouse’s tragic death, you must decide (or flip a coin): Does your Servo join your household and become your only friend, or will you blame them for your partner’s death and scorn your own creation? (Or, I mean, I guess you could freeze to death and move on to the next generation if you prefer.)
Generation 9: Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre
Master Mixologist Aspiration
Unemployed/Mixologist Career
Traits: Child of the Islands, Family Oriented, Erratic
You are Bertha Mason. (You thought I was going to say Jane Eyre, didn’t you?) You thought your spouse was great when they swept you off your feet, but it turns out this person only married you for your money. Now, you find yourself locked in the attic, plotting your escape.
Begin your young adult life in Sulani, working as a successful mixologist. You are happy on the islands where you feel at home, though you may not get married or have children at this time. Instead, you must move on to the next step before reaching the Adult life stage.
When a mysterious stranger comes around, AND/OR if the game gives you the “married for money” prompt, you get married in a rushed, whirlwind romance.
You must move away from Sulani and quit your job in order to live with your spouse, which makes you sad. In response to your sadness, your spouse locks you in their attic.
You may not leave the attic (use door locks to do this), though your spouse is allowed to come in and out. You may put appliances, a bar, etc., in the attic, but your room is not allowed to exceed a 5x5 square for living space, plus an attached 2x3 bathroom. Whenever your spouse enters your room, be mean to them and/or fight with them.
>> You have two options to escape the attic: 1) If your spouse dies on their own without cheats; 2) If at least one full room of the house catches on fire. You may build fire hazards into the home in order to accomplish this. If your home catches fire but a sim puts out the fire before it grows very big, you have not yet accomplished your task.
>> You may live your life however you wish after your escape, including a divorce if your spouse has not yet died. (Let’s give her a happy ending, OK?)
10. Virginia Woolf’s Orlando
Renaissance Sim Aspiration
3 different careers culminating in Style Influencer
Traits: Gloomy, Foodie, Art Lover
You are Orlando, the titular character of literature’s queerest time travel story. You have aristocratic tastes and enjoy relaxation, fine food and the arts, and being pampered. Each new week of your life is more and more different from the one before.
Every Sunday, start the new week by changing your clothing. (At least change whichever outfit you will wear the most that week. This is usually the “everyday” category.) Swap between masculine, feminine, and/or combinations of both freely. Gender is a social construct.
When you swap your outfits, also change at least one “like” from each of the like/dislike categories. Then, change your décor and hobbies for that week accordingly.
In this challenge, you are happily polyamorous; you can cheat to add the Player trait if you like. When you choose to settle down, both your spouse and your significant other live with you.
When you get to set trends as a Style Influencer, select historical/period pieces. The costumes from Get Famous are especially encouraged.
Frequent the spa if you have Spa Day; and/or dine at experimental restaurants and/or the hottest spot in town; and/or take at least one expensive vacation per life stage.

A List of All of Dean Winchester’s Injuries
Yes. I did. I did go through every single episode of Supernatural and recorded every time Dean got injured. Do not question me, I know what I did, I had no one tell me ‘no’ so I did it, and now I’m done.
Now, this list might not be the most accurate. I did not sit down and watch every single episode in full, eyes glued to the screen for every time Dean got injured. I only skimmed. Here’s a gif I made to show how I did it:
Tumblr media
(sorry it’s bad quality it’s the first gif I’ve ever made) I skimmed through the episode and used the little preview screen to look for any time there was fast movement, blood or a spell that might require someone cutting their palm. I also kept an eye out for angel-banishing sigils. Since I only skimmed, there’s a chance I missed some injuries or even times that Dean was magically healed. So again, might not be an accurate list but I did my best. Feel free to tell me anything I missed.
Here’s a key to help you through the list: - most of this lists the actual injury, e.g. “cut on left temple” but other times it’ll list an action that may cause injruy, e.g. “thrown into wall”  - “thrown into/against” means that he impacted the object, but the object did not break / he did not go through it - “thrown through” means that the object broke on impact and he ended up on the other side - “internal pain” means that someone used magic to do something to him, but I have no idea what, all I know is that he looked in pain and was mostly gripping his stomach - “handcuffed” means actual handcuffs were used, “tied around wrists” means either rope or zip-ties were used - “punched” means just punched in the face, any other area on the body will be specified - any episodes that aren’t on the list means he wasn’t injured in them
Some misc notes: - I do not include any injuries that don’t actually happen, e.g. future visions, nightmares, hallucinations or a fake reality - I might be inconsistent with the amount of times I specify what was used to knock Dean out, and not listing what was used. Sorry about that. It’s because I either just couldn’t see the object, or I was lazy that day - I don’t usually specify the size of the injury either, I usually just say “cut”, sorry. I only realised like 6 seasons in that I probably should be specifying the size, and also taking screenshots, but I couldn’t be bothered going back and fixing it, nor could I be bothered specifying the size from then on. I’m sorry, it was just going to feel weird if 6 seasons in I only then start specifying - I don’t include possessions, but I do specify when injuries happen while possessed - I include some commentary of what kind of injuries I thought should’ve happened based on the action - There will also be a list for Sam’s injuries posted later, but there will not be one for Cas. Going into this, I only wanted to know Dean and Sam’s injuries for some redesigns I want to do, I didn’t feel it was necessary for me to know Cas’ because he won’t have scars in my redesign (at least his vessel won’t). Please don’t expect me to go back and make a list for Cas, this already took up so much of my time and I don’t want to do it again.
Let’s begin, shall we?

Sirius Symbolism in TOWL (and a few words on the Apple/iPhone symbolism)
(…and also, a convoluted “Coda” reference…)
Now that TOWL is finished, I want to say a few words on how the symbolism we know and love consistently continues to be used in TWDU. TOWL was a show predominantly about Rick and Michonne, and revolved mostly around their story and their resolution. The exceptions were episodes 1x4 and 1x5, which I’ve talked about other places, (and also here and here).
Tumblr media
The Sirius symbolism is very much still in play, we saw evidence of that already in episode 1x1 Days. I’ve talked about Sirius symbolism and how it’s synonymous with fire (because Sirius means scorching/glowing) in multiple posts over the years, for example here.
In 1x1 Days, Rick is flying the helicopter with Okafor, then decides to tell a story from his childhood. One night, at seven years old, he wakes in the middle of the night because he’s thirsty. He goes to get a drink of water, then discovers the farm is on fire, and his father is badly burnt. His father tells him not to worry, the fire will help promote next year’s harvest. His father says it may look like the end of the world, but in reality it’s the beginning of something new, something better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s the essence of the Sirius symbolism. It means rebirth, resurrection and…
...reunion!
Because immediately after Rick tells his story, the helicopter is hit, and goes down in flames:
Tumblr media
And what happens next is basically what the Sirius symbolism is all about…
…reunion with loved ones:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember that the Sirius symbolism was introduced into TWDU as far back as in TWD 1x1 Days Gone Bye. “Seriously” were among the first words spoken, chronologically speaking, in a flashback from before the outbreak, from before Rick’s car accident that landed him in a coma, the coma we saw him wake up/resurrect from in 1x1 Days Gone Bye (read more here).
(the word "serious" in TWDU is used as code for Sirius due to phonetical similarities)
And if anyone still wonders what this whole Sirius thing is all about, Rick actually articulated it eloquently in 1x6:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...sometimes things have to burn to come back.
This comment, from 1x6 The Ones Who Live, was in reference to his story from 1x1 Days, in which he told the story about the fire, then crashed, then immediately reunited with Michonne. This time, in 1x6, is was foreshadowing his return/resurrection/reunion with Judith and RJ.
And on that note, I want to touch on the Apple symbolism some, because it’s tied right into the Sirius symbolism. Remember we first saw the Apple iPhone in 10x13 What We Become, when Michonne found his boots and a Apple iPhone in an old abandoned boat, marked with the numbers 762, on Virgil’s island. This was the first “proof of life” from Rick, and it was what convinced her he could still be alive. It was what prompted her to go out searching for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the coda of the TWD series finale, 11x24 Rest In Peace, the symbolism around the boots and the Apple iPhone was partially fulfilled when we saw how the boots and the iPhone ended up in the boat marked with 762. We saw Rick Grimes, clearly alive, trying to escape the CRM, leaving his backpack with the boots and phone on the boat, before he was recaptured.
Tumblr media
Apple symbolism was always closely tied to Richonne, but we did also see it around Daryl in TWDDD a whole lot, which is promising. Read more here.
And, we eventually saw the apple symbolism completely fulfilled in the last few scenes, when Rick and Michonne, after having neutralized the CRM, returned to Judith and RJ in a CRM helicopter. We first see Michonne holding the Apple iPhone, the one first seen in 10x13...
Tumblr media
...then, the reunion happens...
Rick Grimes, The Brave Man, is "resurrected", "reborn" and reunited with his family.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we do know it’s tied to the Sirius and "fire" symbolism because watch this scene from TOWL 1x3 Bye:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“…sometimes things have to burn to bring things back…”
Rick, upon deciding he no longer can remain hopeful of ever getting back to his loved ones, burns the iPhones, thinking he has to let go. But as we know, the symbolism isn't about letting go, it's about rebirth, resurrection and reunion...
Sometimes things have to burn in order to came back...
Once he burns the Apple iPhones, he (or rather, TPTB) activates the Sirius symbolism, and a "reunion" is subsequently lined up in his near future.
That's Sirius symbolism. And it was fulfilled in an episode called The Ones Who Live...
This is some A+ foreshadowing by using Sirius symbolismon the part of TPTB. And this is the type of symbolism we see around Beth constantly! She's among "The Ones Who Live".
Finally, a few words on the coda.
Which coda, you ask?
Well there wasn’t really one, I’m just trying to be cute with word plays. There was, however, a small nod to Cotton Tail, the rabbit from TWD 4x15 Us, an episode in which Daryl almost killed Len Claimer because he indirectly offended Beth, or so to speak. Read more on that here. Long story short, the rabbit from 4x15 Us 100% represented Beth, and in particular, the part that Daryl got, “the ass end”, represented 5x8 Coda, because “the ass end” of “Cotton Tail” is a reference to the Latin word “Coda”, which literally translates to “tail”. Len specifically described Daryl as someone who had lost himself "a piece of tail". This was directly after he had lost Beth. Beth is the piece of tail. Beth is Cotton Tail.
We didn’t get a coda per se in TOWL 1x6, but in a roundabout way, I’d say we still got one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cotton Tail!
Sure, maybe that makes me delusional, but then again, I am TD, so why not? I embrace it!

StrangerVille Survival Challenge
TOS
This challenge is loosely inspired by Pinstar's Apocalypse Challenge; however, my challenge is more focused on the StrangerVille story and designed to make use of much of StrangerVille's content, so I think it's different enough from Pinstar's challenge to stand on its own.
If you repost, edit, or write another version of this challenge based on mine, please credit both Pinstar and myself and link back to both our challenges. Thank you!
Story
The Mother has utterly destroyed StrangerVille. There is nothing left but abandoned buildings and a town overrun with toxic plants. Most of the inhabitants have fled in terror, but the few who remain are infected... and highly contagious, but your Sim knows they can't be the only survivor who is still healthy. Others are out there somewhere. Your Sim must find a way to live in this dangerous new world and look for other survivors.
Objective
Start with nothing but an empty plot of land and a desire to survive. Build a fully self-sustainable fallout shelter and gather up a colony of fellow survivors who will help you grow your base. The challenge ends when you have a colony of 8 Sims and have built a finished, self-sustainable shelter that can accommodate your entire colony. Each member of the colony must be assigned a role and be masters of their role's skills.
Getting Started
Reach Act 3 of the StrangerVille Mystery story any way you want with a random, disposable Sim. I highly recommend downloading TwistedMexi's All Cheats Unlocked mod and using the command narrative.start_narrative narrative_strangetown_act3 in the cheat console to just set the story to Act 3 immediately. If you don't want to use mods, then just get to Act 3 using as many cheats as you like with this random Sim. The only purpose of this is to enable the crazy weather for the challenge.
Make a young adult Sim in CAS. This Sim can have any appearance, gender customisations, traits, aspiration, voice, and walk style you want. You may use any CC you like on them that doesn't affect gameplay in any way.
You may use the in-game personality quiz to determine your Sim’s starting skills and traits, but you must quit any career it assigns you as soon as you start playing and you must still remove all your starting funds.
If Cats & Dogs is installed, you may give your Sim one pet. Only one. The pet can be a cat or a dog of any breed/mix, and have any appearance and traits you want.
Move your household into any bulldozed, empty lot in StrangerVille.
Open the cheat console with CTRL + SHIFT + C and type in testingcheats true, followed by money 0. Then type in testingcheats false.
Overall Rules
No mods that give you an unfair advantage in the challenge. Mods that make any aspect of the game easier for your Sim or help your Sim in any way in the challenge are not allowed.
No cheats of any kind except for bb.moveobjects on for creative building purposes. Any cheats the challenge specifically instructs you to use are okay, but only when the challenge specifies it. For example, you can use the money cheat only to take away all your Sim's money at the beginning of the challenge. You can't use the money cheat again after that.
Lifespans must be set to Normal with Auto-Aging On for all Sims. Sims must be allowed to age naturally. No early birthdays. No prolonging life/preventing death/resurrecting dead Sims.
No careers! No rabbithole careers. No active careers. No work from home careers. No custom careers. No careers of any kind. Period. The epidemic in StrangerVille has caused the job market to collapse. Sims must make money by selling items they've crafted, harvested, or collected.
No member of your household can leave StrangerVille. All roads going in and out are blocked off and the bizarre weather has made travel too dangerous. Sims may travel to other lots in StrangerVille but cannot use any forbidden luxuries on those lots (toilets, showers, etc). Assume all appliances and tech are broken on these lots.
The cell phone is forbidden. Autonomous phone interactions can be cancelled without penalty, but you cannot use the phone for any reason. Cell towers have been knocked out, leaving phones out of service.
You may purchase in-game rewards with satisfaction points you earned properly without cheats, but Potions of Youth are off-limits. You are limited to one Money Tree. You may not exploit the glitch to get more Money Tree Seeds.
Shelter
With harmful airborne spores everywhere, its only a matter of time before your Sim breathes in so much of it that they, too, succumb to this terrible illness. It's not safe to be outdoors for long periods of time and infected Sims roam the streets at night. The weather has knocked out power lines and the water tower, severely limiting your Sim's access to electricity and indoor plumbing.
As soon as you are on your empty lot with $0, time starts ticking. You have exactly 24 hours to build an underground shelter that is protected from the elements, otherwise you fail the challenge. If you started a new save file, this should be exactly 8:00AM the following morning.
Your shelter must be entirely underground and protected from the harsh StrangerVille weather (so a door separating your shelter from the outside). The shelter does not need to have anything in it. It does not need wall coverings or flooring. It doesn't even need to be more than a 1x1 square. As long as your Sim has somewhere they can stand that is completely underground and protected from the elements, you've passed the first 24 hours. (HINT: Fishing in Shady Acres can be both profitable and an easy source of food early on in the challenge).
After the first 24 hours, all Sims in your household have a strict 9pm curfew. All Sims must be inside the shelter and remain in the shelter from 9pm to 7am every night for their own safety.
You can only have one item that uses electricity in each room of your shelter. Lights must be candles, oil lamps, or the DIY wall light that came with StrangerVille.
Your shelter is lacking in indoor plumbing. You may only have three “plumbing” items in your entire shelter. You are limited to:
Rustic basin sinks
WooHoo bushes (GT or JA – not subject to the plumbing item limit)
Portable camping shower (OR)
DIY shower (SV)
The homemade toilet and bath craftable on the workbench
Food
The Mother's infection doesn't seem to have affected the water or the fish in the town, but nothing grown on land outdoors is safe to eat. It's all been contaminated by airborne spores. The epidemic has caused all the local shops to shut down, making grocery shopping a thing of the past. Your Sim has no choice but to find a way to grow their own produce underground.
Sims may not eat anything they do not have all the ingredients for.
Sims may not eat any meals that do not require any ingredients. All meals must require at least one ingredient.  The only exception to this is the birthday cake. Sims may cook and eat birthday cakes, but only for the purpose of celebrating a birthday. A Sim must age up using the cake.
Your Sim may not grow anything above ground, not even if it's indoors. All food must be grown underground in the shelter to protect them from contamination. (HINT: You need medium wall height to be able to grow trees underground)
Sims may catch and eat fish that they've caught.
Sims may not purchase, plant, grow, harvest, touch, eat, or carry bizarre fruit. No bizarre fruit may ever come into contact with your Sims or be brought into the shelter. No Sim may ever interact with a bizarre plant. If any Sim in your household comes into contact with a bizarre plant or bizarre fruit, they must be killed off or kicked out immediately.
Grow Your Colony
Once your Sim has established a proper shelter and a way to safely grow their own produce, it's time to start thinking bigger. Surely your Sim can't be the only healthy person left in StrangerVille. There must be others like them out there somewhere, hiding, struggling to survive. Wouldn't it be nice to band together and form a colony of survivalists? If they could just find them in the sea of infected Sims wandering around...
No Sim in your household may interact with an infected/possessed Sim. If a Sim in your household autonomously interacts with an infected/possessed Sim, they must be immediately killed off or kicked out of the household in order to protect the rest of the colony. This applies to all Sims regardless of age or relation to any other Sims in the household.
If your starting Sim interacts with an infected/possessed Sim, they must also leave the colony. The role of Leader then gets passed to another Sim in the colony. This is the only exception to the rule about not changing roles in the next section. If your starting Sim is the only Sim in the colony, you fail the challenge.
Your Sim cannot add the first new member of the colony until the shelter functions like a proper “home.” It must have:
A method of bathing and using the bathroom inside the shelter
A method of cooking and storing food inside the shelter
Enough seating for at least two Sims
At least one garden planter
At least one fun item
Two beds. If your Sim and the new colony member have a suitably high relationship, you may have one double bed, instead.
You cannot add a new colony member to the household until there is a bed for them inside the shelter.
New colony members may be added to the shelter either by inviting existing Sims to move into the household or by having natural-born children within the household.
You cannot invite a Sim to join your colony until your Sim is Good Friends with them.
No new colony member can bring any money with them when they move in. Use the money cheat to remove any funds they bring with them.
Colony Roles
In order for your colony to thrive, you're going to need some organization and structure. As the leader of your colony, you'll be assigning each new member of your colony a vital role. That Sim will dedicate their lives to fulfilling their assigned role for the benefit of the colony. There are lots of things to be done to keep the colony running smoothly and lots of Sims needed to perform those tasks. If everyone works together, the colony will stay strong in the face of this terrible tragedy.
When a new Sim joins the colony, assign them a role from the list below. That Sim must master the skill linked to their role. You cannot change a Sim's role after it's been assigned so think carefully. If a Sim masters a skill for a different role, it won't count towards the challenge. The Sim must master the skill that matches their role.
Sims aren't restricted to only performing duties within their role, but try your best to keep everyone as focused on their role as possible. It helps build their skill faster.
While toddlers and children cannot officially take on a role and perform their role’s duties, they must be prepped to accept their assigned role when they become teens. They must master the toddler and child skill on the list linked to their future role. A toddler or child who does not master their role’s skill before they age up is a challenge fail.
If you started with a pet in the household and therefore cannot fulfill all 8 roles, the pet automatically takes the role of Spy. The pet does not need to do anything special to fulfill this role. If the pet dies before the end of the challenge, you must add a Sim to the colony to become your Spy.

1x1 “Rebirth” This is how Terry finds the Batcave and I love that a) in the first 22 minutes of introducing us to their protagonist, they wanted us to know that he’s the sort of person who will try and rescue a trapped animal (though I’m assuming rabies is no longer a problem in this time, because oh my god do not do this, don’t put yourself at risk of being bit - call a professional. also probably don’t dress up as a bat and try to fight crime. these things should go without saying.) and b) the symbolism of Terry freeing a trapped bat so it can fly again - both as representing resurrecting the Batman mantle and for getting Bruce out of his rut and back in the world - is just *chef’s kiss*.
