it's quite a dishonest framing that you say hussein was "regarding you with suspicion" baselessly even though you've publicly state on your blog how you believe zionism is an "intracommunity" discussion.
they at no point even mention that they blame you for "israel's actions". they assumed you were talking about zionism because of previous pointed statements you endorsed where you say zionism should be only discussed by jews. its not imagined, you straight up said this? and you claim that hussein is antisemitic for assuming you're saying the same thing again just with more inclusive language? And it coincided a few days after me posting that tributary post about "defining yourself as zionist or antizionist"? So he assumed that it was in relation to it? sure you might not have meant it about zionism this time, but with previous statements you've made/endorsed you don't exactly have the right to act like you have no idea why they would assume that and misconstrue this as an antisemitic attack where he's conflating zionism with judiasm when you literally agree that zionism should only be discussed by jews, which means you yourself are conflating zionism and judiasm.
Tumblr media
but ok, i guess, they were just taking your words out of context because they're "antisemitic". I even saw this ask last month and assumed you were talking about zionism in your recent post because of this statement you published and told him privately thats what i assumed you were talking about. Not because of you being jewish. But because i remembered this statement you agreed with because i was so offended reading it. And yeah it's a really bad statement that I'll remember because of how antipalestinian it is so sorry I don't think you get to claim the moral highground???? You didn't exactly disagree with any part of this person's statements?????
And like I would have left this alone but hussein often gets called antisemitic by people you associate with and reblog from, and it really shows how little compassion you all have for Palestinians (which btw as I say over and over, we have a right to point out harmful rhetoric that impacts us) who have a "knee-jerk reaction" to these things when we quite literally see our communities call for the deaths of our friends and family by starvarion and bombing in the name of zionism and when we call it out irl we get called antisemitic. You could have like sent an ask or publicly clarified your intentions but you just jumped straight to calling him antisemitic. Which the onus of responsibility is on YOU because of your previous statements. Why would we assume you mean something different based on past experiences???
Rhetoric like "zionism is an intracommunity issue" is stuff that has literally led to death of our loved ones so of course we have "kneejerk reactions" when there is literal proof of you saying these things before. We are not doing this because you're Jewish, we are doing this because we see and experience first hand this rhetoric and youre perpetuating it blatantly and you have people who follow you who look to you for perspective on "israel/palestine". It's so disingenuous to claim he's an antisemite when he's literally finding common talking points zionists perpetuate against us and call it out. And saying "I don't support the likud government or Westbank settlers" means nothing to us because our families were expelled from palestine before likud and settlers happened. Trying to separate modern day zionism from its colonial roots from the 1800s is at its core anti-palestinian, no matter what other conversations you want to have.
Again like the only reason this matters is because people follow you and look to you for perspective AND you reblog/interact with people we have pointed out as harmful. I literally would not care enough to make this post if i didnt see your posts spread enough times around here. So it's not because you're jewish and framing it like that is really dishonest when the person pointing this out was a palestinian who lost family due to zionism throughout multiple generations of their lives.

btw in the tmagp launch celebratory stream alice's voice actor said her favorite scene that'd been recorded by that point was "alice and sam go to a place". so i suppose we'll be getting that next week :]
other notes. this statement (hey! actually a statement this time! what the fuck) was SOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
the cursed dice angle is so good, the way the statement giver took on that role (roll), played the part, UGH it's so fun. the theme of choice that was brought up is also so good- just. ONE more roll for old time's sake :) especially given that this is a TMI statement and how HUGE IMPORTANT of a theme choice and free will were in tma, felt very fitting. fantastic, loved that.
continuing on my stuff about the entities in tmagp- once again some things here feel very on the nose, particularly the statement giver literally calling himself a mysterious stranger. this feels like a fun little red herring to me, for people a bit hung up on the entities stuff. that's how i interpreted it, anyways. i wanna know more about this world so fucking bad, dude.
also, the institute's in manchester in tmagp, not chelsea/london. which means no milbank prison, no panopticon. interesting. (though soemthing that was known from the arg already- i really need to deep dive on that. tomorrow, maybe.) statement taking and artifact storage are still a thing, evidently, but noting that there's no mention of an archivist or anything like that. and the subject/agent/catalyst stuff, that's Very interesting.
once again, chester bringing up a magnus-related statement, here in obvious reply to what sam was talking about- just when he was considering to celia about dropping his investigations- clearly (imo) to goad him into not leaving it behind. excellent. and fun given the first TMI-related incident with redcanary had the obvious conclusion of THE MAGNUS INSTITUTE IS WEIRD AND DANGEROUS while also having enough mystery to draw sam in further. sam's seen the canary die in the coalmine and has made the decision to keep digging and that's fantastic.
now! characters! sam's paperwork :) VERY intriguing that he's getting all this stuff and celia's got none of it- he said it was due to that box about the response department, but i've got my doubts about that being the reason he's being saddled with all this weird stuff. also the questions on the thing made me laugh, very good. sam and celia have such good interactions, i love how they bounce off each other. also, with regards to the paperwork- i think there's a connection to be made about the statement giver's continued rolling of the dice (it always felt like my choice.) and sam filling out all this creepy, utterly pointless paperwork to "refuse to give it the satisfaction of giving up".
GWEN AND LENA. nigel dickerson, you know, from tv? possibly. i don't watch television. i do hope we'll be seeing exactly what gwen is being told to do next episode.. delivering something, keeping calm, recording the detailed reactions to what's being delivered. maybe we'll get a bit more of a clue as to what the oair is actually for. i do like that gwen's not become one bit less indignant, skeptical, and disrespectful towards lena now that she's got this job. i'm very excited to see her on her fist job she's gonna suck at it i think
i'll admit i was a little surprised to see teddy again. i was worried for a sec he might be going in the direction of getting dragged back to the oair, but nah. not yet, at least :) and ALICE. ALIIIIICE auaaaaagh!!! i don't know if i have much to say baout this part that isn't just (shaking a plushie in my mouth like a dog). very neat that she has agreed to help sam investigate this and actually go to the institute when she's been so staunchly don't get caught up in the creepy stuff! leave the magnus institute stuff ALONE you don't want to get into this spooky shit! like.. she does not want to get involved with spooky shit and she doesn't want sam to get involved with spooky shit but she cares about him and their friendship a lot and this is obviously important to him. so. (plus, the thing about alice's brother having been at the institute alongside sam and gerry..) i like them both so much. i am so excited for next weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Another question, I think I may be becoming fixated on your blog: what are your trans headcanons regarding Ghirahim?
(btw I agree transmascs are cool)
*evil transgender smile* so glad you asked
based on the fact that fi is genderless, i assume ghirahim started out this way too. when he gained more of a sense of self, he started identifying as male and wanted a body more customizable and relatable. both in a gender way, and mortal way. so he made this 'hylian' form!!
i feel like a common hc is that this is also something fi can do, like its an inherent sword spirit ability. ive never been a fan of that? like why would it be a thing that normal sword spirits need to do. what utility would it be to someone like fi. so i think it's some sort of other, unrelated magic that ghirahim learned for himself. like his teleportation and resurrection abilities. gender affirming spells, if you will.
another common hc is that he is also genderless, but he is very obviously a gay man to me. gender is a performance and he is winning. he is gnc but still very much a man. plus usage of gendered terms- "busy boy", "lord"... its important to me!!
as for body type, he's "on T" and i don't think i've ever actually drawn him with top surgery scars but i absolutely love it when people do. like why haven't i yet?? this is a piece i really love.
he doesn't voice train so it's still a bit on the higher end (can you tell this is my favorite tone of voice)
and i love to point out that his hylian-looking form is much slimmer and smaller than his spirit form. i have nothing to add to this, its just very gender to me
Tumblr media
speaking of, a common misconception is that he hates his spirit form!!! i personally believe he still loves it very much! he goes on and on about how beautiful and tough his black arms are when he first reveals them. he makes no comment about hating his spirit form or anything. even though he obviously prefers his squishier form, his original gives him no dysphoria. he's just one of the lucky trans people to have multiple forms (like mettaton!)

OH BOY I need some AIR after playing Cloutchase Vol 2!!!!
Time for the customary screenshot dump! Spoilers under the cut!
But first, some spoiler-free teases to further encourage you to play the game yourself first!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aight here we go
Hrrrrrrrrrrrrgh I started with Amino and then had to wash it down with Discord cause oof the cringe flashbacks to middle school
Tumblr media
They really went all out on the accuracy didn't they. It just like me fr (derogatory) (inaccurate)
Tumblr media
We need to talk about this split second of dialogue btw- I caught it just in time oh my god WHAT- they should kiss I think
Tumblr media
I played this with a friend actually and she gave Kik a Beetlejuice voice and it was amazing. My friend did all the voices actually and I did the narration and she was great and accurate it was a real fun experience. I've never even heard of Kik before this but she HAD and knew what to do XD
Tumblr media
THE FREAKIN WARRIOR CATS ROLEPLAY. I know EXACTLY how it feels to be dragged into a WCRP when you've never read the books or know anything about the series, more middle school trauma for you there
Tumblr media
Amino's route was positively perfect I have no notes I am going insane I am going feral I need therapy I need a monkey onesie-
Moving on, Muffy was in Discord's route! That was so neat to see! Also the crypto ending was so funny look at this:
Tumblr media
We also need to talk about Twitter X. Just look at him
Tumblr media
Amazing. Perfection. He is disgusted with us, as he should be
Tumblr media
Ok in regards to actual Discord, I freakin love him. Again, I was playing this game with a friend, and she said his trans experience was so relatable to her. Then I spoke with another friend and he said the same thing. We all agree he's very gender looking, even tho two of us are femme XD
Tumblr media
When we finished the Good Ending my friend said that Discord's feminine persona looked a lot more fake than initially thought now that we knew the truth, and that's honestly great character building. The maze was such an interesting way to get to know Discord better too, even if all the mythology reference were askew lol
Tumblr media
I think both versions of Discord are incredibly cute and adorable but Masc Discord is my favorite cause he just looks so much more comfortable in his own skin if you know what I mean? Or maybe I'm just projecting idk
I've actually hit 12 photos already so idk why Tumblr wont stop me from adding more. Maybe it's different on desktop than mobile idk
Anyway I loved both routes and I wish I could gush about them more but I have a certain social experiment session in an hour (shoutout to the two people who actually read through my experiment tag) so I'll just leave it here
But gosh I loved these two they were amazing I want to play them again aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Tumblr media
LAST NOTE BUT THERE ARE ACTUALLY A PAIR OF CREEPY TWINS AT THE END OF THE SHINING HALLWAY BTW
Tumblr media
Calling it now it's Thesaurus.com and Dictionary.com (two of MY ocs that I haven't even DESIGNED yet ffffffffffff now that Webtoon's done I guess that's my next project)

Hi, it kind of came out of nowhere but do you think that Marvus's music would be actually good ? Like I can't imagine some 14-15 yo kid, supported and working for other kids, being professional (not that teenagers can't be great artists, but in the context of Alternia it's just different). It just kind of cracks me up if IRL he really made shitty mixtapes that hypes everyone up lmao and Teals would just work as some weird ambassador for purples/artists that resolve teenage drama haha
What do you think ? Do they have enough cultural background to compose things for themselves or Condy gave them just enough space but not quite so things can't evolve?
great blog btw i like tour writing :)
Hi!
This ask got me deep diving haha. I'll get to some more, long, rambling headcanons under the cut, but here's the short of it:
Canon tells us he has a huge, cult like following, so his music is likely "good" (which is subjective, but we'll get to that later).
He already had a background (loosely speaking) in entertainement before he got famous by being a contestent on Slam or Get Culled (which keeps him relevant; most contestant series bing back previous winners, so he's very present in the entertainment sphere). In my opinion (and this is entering headcanon territory), this means he's had plenty of relevant training regarding... hmm how to put this. Finding and keeping an audience? Putting on the entertainer's face and saying the right words? Public relations stuff, you know? Does that makes sense? This does imply that his music is somewhat commercial and easy to sell, however (although I choose not to headcanon that. Popular fanon and I agree on one thing: I like the idea that his music is kinda silly yet clever with excellent samples a la young gravy).
The idea of teals being the auspictices between the music/ entertainment industry and like, just the general population is a super fun world building element haha! I love that. I've always seen certain castes being culturally predisposed towards certain quadrants, and teals have always read as ashen-predisposed to me. Might be the neurodivergence speaking, though, haha.
That being said, the entertainment industry- both on earth in real life so likely on Alternia- is the forefront of propaganda. And while Marvus styles himself as a musician, he's actually somewhat more of a politician.
Before I deep dive under the cut, the TL;DR is: imagine if Hatsune Miku worked for, idk, the CIA. That's... kind of how I see Marvus lmfao (although not a super literal parallel obviously; I don't think Marvus works for anyone beside himself). I'm at work so this post is pretty rushed, but hopefully you can get my jist.
So here's the thing that has always stuck out to me: Marvus and the music industry are kind of one in the same, you know? Made to get stuck in your head haha.
This puts him in a very powerful political position. It's noted in his friendsim that his music is "super woke and definitely not casteist at all." As MSPAR attended that concert with Zebruh, it's important to note that weirdo castists were on their mind. To me, this says that Marvus's music is so open for interpretation that people will always hear exactly what they want.
(I know the popular opinion is just that he's psychic pulling psychic fuckery, but honestly that's no fun for me. Marvus is very intelligent and conniving, and I'd prefer to deep dive into that.)
You know what Marvus has that most seadwellers don't? An audience, an opinion, and the means to make it all happen.
I think it's worth noting that when I say "politician" on Alternia, it's honestly more like an influencer? Cridea, for instance, strikes me as someone with a political agenda and political pull (and I don't think it's a coincidence at all that they're linked in act 2). They are, after all, young adults at best (I see Marvus as 19 on Alternia).
Do I think Marvus went into the inustry with politics on his mind? No, not at all. He was- in my headcanon- just a sixteen year old kid with no delusions of grandeur at all. He simply was that good.
The only problem is that he doesn't really hve anyone he's working for. He's religious (canonically, and imo to an extent), so it's very possible all of his power plays and messages have a subtle religious tie-in. Mostly, though, I think he's in it for himself. Mirthful Idolotry: he's an idol. This isn't sustainable in the long run, though, so I always wonder about what might cause his downfall in the future.
I think he's intelligent enough to come up with clever word play, and frankly there's the caste element as well.
Anyway. Because politics are involved, I'd be shocked if off-world trolls (trolls who are like Tirona for instance) aren't involved in the effort.
So do I think his music is good? No.
I think it is evil :o)
Anyway, random headcanon: I think music on Alternia has a slight buzzng sound to it that only trolls can pick up the subtlties of. For humans, it sounds like that cicada buzz sounds of flourscent lighting.
Hope that was anything haha.

Here's the third, and for now final, part about Mio! This is gonna be a bit NSFW btw, although there's no smut ^^ I'm gonna talk about:
Raphael, Mio and sex
BDSM
Mio’s sexuality
Raphael, Mio and sex
Mio hadn't had sex before Raphael bought him. He has some basic education on how sex works and knows a couple things beyond that from his coworkers and others talking about what they’ve done but I imagine information on this topic isn’t as easily available in Faerûn as it is in our world. Also, living in close quarters with his parents, he rarely had the chance to masturbate and was never really interested in it to begin with.
Raphael decides he wants to have sex with Mio in part because he is genuinely attracted to him but also because he wants to see if Mio might become an alternative as a dom to Haarlep. While Raphael doesn’t have a virginity kink, he does like the idea of Mio only being allowed to have sex with him, further tying Mio to him and making him more dependent on him.
(This doesn’t go both ways btw, Raphael still has sex with Haarlep and other people. Also, Raphael still sees him as a pet, their relationship hasn’t changed in that regard. But, like, they’re both of sexual maturity for their species, they’re sentient intelligent beings, they can communicate, it passes the Jack Harkness test, so it’s fine.)
When Raphael asks Mio to have sex with him, Mio says yes pretty quickly. Mio likes being touched by Raphael so he reasons that he would also enjoy sex with him. But he also agrees to it so quickly because he doesn’t really want to say no to anything Raphael asks of him and he wants to be useful to Raphael and stay in his good graces. In a healthy relationship Mio might have said that he’d like to wait a bit longer, but would definitely want to have sex at some point.
Raphael strongly prefers to bottom and Mio has no problem with that, since he doesn’t really know what he likes anyways. Raphael generally prefers to let others do the work in bed he has to at least show Mio some things and makes an effort to make sure that Mio has a good time too. He wants Mio to like having sex with him so he will actually want to continue having sex with him. He can be lazy later.
Mio generally enjoys sex, he especially likes that he’s the one giving Raphael pleasure. Usually, when Raphael pets him Mio only receives and he kind of feels like this is a way for him to pay him back. He enjoys being able to see how his actions make Raphael feel good. While he also likes coming, it doesn’t really matter as much to him as making Raphael happy.
Mio has a bit of a problem in that he doesn’t get hard as easily as Raphael would like him to. While he finds Raphael attractive and seeing and especially hearing Raphael during sex does turn him on, he also needs a good amount of physical stimulation, which he sometimes forgets because he’s more focused on making Raphael feel good. This is mainly only an issue because he kinda needs a boner to fuck Raphael. But also Raphael at some point implies that Mio might not find him attractive enough. (More on that below.) (Also I should mention I don’t have a dick and don’t know anyone with a dick I can ask dick related question. If anything here is inaccurate it’s because Mio is an elf, their dicks just work differently, ok?)
BDSM Part 1
(Ok so I think people in Faerûn know what BDSM is (there’s a dominatrix in the game, after all) but probably call it something different. To keep things simple I’ll call it BDSM and use BDSM related terms. Also wanna mention that I don’t have a lot of BDSM experience and might get some things wrong but some of the stuff here is intentionally bad BDSM etiquette, I’m aware of that, it’s part of the story.)
Raphael has only really subbed for Haarlep and doesn’t have much experience with other doms, especially not completely inexperienced ones like Mio.
Haarlep, as an incubus, has some inherent knowledge when it comes to sex related stuff and they probably picked up some things over the years, especially because they went to a position where they are supposed to leave their partner alive at the end and not just take their soul, which is what incubi usually do. Still, they mostly rely on their instincts and being able to sense if what they’re doing pleases their partner or not.
Raphael is lazy when it comes to sex and doesn’t really bother to try and improve. He’s picked up some new ideas from various erotic novels and is willing to try some new stuff, but doesn’t want to put in much effort to implement these ideas. His partners have rarely complained (he’s fine in bed, not great but not so bad anyone in their right mind would dare complain). He doesn’t care that much what Haarlep thinks about his skills in bed and Mio doesn’t have anyone to compare him to.
He wants Mio to become his dom for several reasons. Haarlep is getting lazy with their scenes because they’re bored and just do things they’ve already done a hundred times, not bothering to come up with something new. Raphael wants to have sex with someone who is actually attracted to him and he also hopes that Mio will have some new ideas. He of course knows that Mio has no experience in that area. And he likes that Mio has to essentially change his own more submissive nature just to please Raphael.
Raphael also, somewhat subconsciously, wants Mio to be his dom because Mio is not dominating by nature. He would have been less likely to ask someone to become his dom when they are also dominant outside of the bedroom. While he likes to be occasionally challenged, he would be hesitant to let someone like this put him in a vulnerable position and would perceive this kind of person as a threat. With Mio, he doesn’t have to worry about that because he knows that Mio is only pretending to be dominating, and only because Raphael wants him to.
Raphael gives Mio very little instructions, basically just telling him he can do whatever he wants with Raphael and he will let Mio know when he doesn’t like something. This puts a lot of pressure on Mio and despite Raphael’s assurance he’s still very afraid of messing this up. As inspiration on what to do, Raphael gives Mio some erotic novels.
Mio has a hard time being dominant because it’s so different from their usual dynamic. As Raphael’s pet, he’s always the one getting orders and he just has to follow them and everything will be fine. Now he suddenly has to come up with things for Raphael to do, while also having to make sure that it’s something that Raphael would actually like to do. They haven’t had sex very often yet and since Raphael won’t just tell him what he likes, it’s completely on Mio to make sure that the sex is enjoyable for Raphael. And on top of that, he needs to make sure he gets a boner so he can actually fuck Raphael.
Mio suggests they do something that is essentially roleplay, so that it doesn’t feel like he’s commanding and hurting his owner. Raphael likes this idea because he’s a theater kid, but also because in this roleplay he can be more of a brat, which is what he usually prefers but has avoided so far because he knows Mio wouldn’t want to continue if Raphael shows reluctance.
Raphael introduces the idea of a safeword, although he doesn’t call it that. While Raphael knows about this kind of stuff (roleplaying, safewords etc.) he doesn’t want to just tell Mio about it and let him think he came up with it. He kinda wants Mio to think what they’re doing is special and new and all their own ideas.
With Haarlep, Raphael never really did aftercare. That’s not because Haarlep is a bad dom, but because Raphael doesn’t need aftercare. He’s a cambion, and in addition to their physiological differences to mortals, they also have psychological differences. Raphael might be exhausted or filthy after a scene, but he doesn’t need to cuddle or get some refreshments. He takes a bath and maybe a nap because he likes to and has the time and resources. But he could just as well go back to work and be fine. He knows about the concept of aftercare but isn’t aware that he doesn’t need it because he’s a cambion, he instead thinks that that’s something some subs need and it doesn’t occur to him that doms might need aftercare too. However, this doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t benefit from aftercare or wouldn’t enjoy it. But at this point he hasn’t ever tried it and sees no reason to bring it up to Mio.
They kinda do at least some aftercare by accident. They cuddle afterwards, Mio asks if what he did was good and if Raphael liked it and they might bathe together. Raphael assumes this is because Mio likes to cuddle, wants feedback to improve and of course they bathe because they just got sweaty and they might as well do it together. It doesn’t occur to him that Mio might do these things because he needs physical affection, assurance that he did a good job and to spend time with Raphael back in their usual dynamic of Mio being Raphael’s pet. Mio himself isn’t aware that he needs these things either, he just kinda does them on instinct and because Raphael lets him. He’s never heard of aftercare and so he doesn’t know that they should do these things after every scene, or that he might need even more.
They don’t talk much about their scenes beforehand, other than what Raphael needs to know for the set-up of a roleplay. Raphael explains it’s because it would ruin the surprise for him and he finds it more exciting when he doesn’t know what’s going to happen. This puts all the work on Mio, who not only has to come up with the scenes but also make sure they go in the right direction. If Raphael does something unexpected (because he doesn’t know what Mio had planned) Mio has to improvise. Mio doesn’t feel like he can just stop the scene and tell Raphael that they’re going off script, he thinks he has to make sure that things go the way he’s planned or change things on the spot to please Raphael.
Raphael also doesn’t want Mio to ask Haarlep for help or advice, except for specific, pre-approved instances. He says it’s because if Haarlep teaches him he’s just going to end up with the same skills and knowledge as them, and then Raphael might as well keep sleeping with Haarlep. This keeps Mio from potentially seeking out other resources of information, so relies heavily on the erotic novels Raphael gave him (which aren’t always accurate) and what little information Raphael gives him directly.
To summarize: Raphael is shit at BDSM, partly intentional (keeps Mio from seeking out good resources, doesn’t do research himself), partly unintentional (he just isn’t aware that mortals like Mio have different needs than cambions when it comes to sex).
(Ok from here on there are some heavy spoilers for my fic. But that stuff is really far in the future, literally months from now at the rate I’m currently publishing lol)
Raphael (unintentionally) gets the idea in Mio’s head that if he doesn’t take care of his erection issues he might stop having sex with him. This causes Mio to secretly do something dumb (I don’t want to spoil the details) and the incident gets Haarlep involved. They realize how much of a trainwreck the whole situation is. They have a talk with Raphael and basically tell him if he wants to keep Mio around for longer and not have him be an anxious mess he has to change some things. Raphael does want to keep Mio and wants him to be his dom, so he agrees to hear Haarlep out and take their advice.
Mio’s sexuality
(While I think that terms, or equivalents, like Hetero-, Bi-, Homosexuality etc., exist in Faerûn, I think that’s something only scholars would use and the general population just says “Oh I’m into guys/women/everyone.” and don’t use labels as much.)
Because of the incident Haarlep sits Mio down and they have a talk. Haarlep explains to Mio what erectile dysfunction is, that’s not uncommon with mortals and that he can use potions for it or that he can just use a dildo or strap-on instead of his actual dick to fuck Raphael.
However, Haarlep thinks that that’s maybe not what’s going on. They ask Mio a bunch of questions:
What kind of people is he attracted to? Men and women equally, he probably has a preference for tall races (elves, humans etc.) but has noticed that he sometimes likes dwarves when they have a very stylish beard (Sidenote, I think in a world like DnD with different races it’s not uncommon to have a racial preference, the same way someone might prefer brunettes over blondes).
What does he think about when masturbates? He doesn’t know, he almost never masturbated when he lived with his parents and now that he has sex pretty regularly he doesn’t have the need to.
Does he find Raphael attractive? Yes, of course!
What does he find attractive about him? His face and wings and horns. The way he sounds when Mio makes him moan. His voice. The way he dresses.
Does thinking about Raphael right now turn him on? Yes? Maybe?
Has he ever felt that way about other people? Probably, but he can’t really think of anyone right now.
Haarlep also changes into a bunch of different people, asking Mio how he feels about them. Mio says to some of these forms that he finds them attractive but none of them really turn him on.
Finally, Haarlep says they think they know what’s going on. Mio is like, you know what’s wrong with me? Haarlep assures him that there isn’t anything wrong with him, he just feels none or very little sexual attraction compared to most other people (He’s asexual, but Haarlep doesn’t know that word) and that he might have mistaken finding people attractive with sexual attraction. They also think that Mio just doesn’t get aroused easily. That doesn’t mean he can’t have sex or that he can’t enjoy it, though!
Haarlep explains that you can have sex without having an orgasm, that that doesn’t need to be the end goal. They ask if Mio would still want to have sex with Raphael even if he doesn’t come. Mio says yes, absolutely, he never really cared that much about it anyways and it might make things easier, especially if he can just use toys instead. He really likes having sex with Raphael and thinks he might enjoy it even more if he doesn’t have to worry about getting an erection and can just focus on making Raphael feel good.
(Haarlep has suspected that Mio is ace for a while because they, as an incubus, can feel people’s arousal and when they are attracted to someone. They just hadn’t had a reason to bring it up, since Mio enjoyed sex with Raphael regardless.)
Haarlep is like, great, now we just need to explain this to Raphael! Mio is a bit scared about how Raphael will take this but Haarlep assures him they’ll take care of it.
They bring Raphael into the conversation and explain the whole ace thing, making sure that Raphael understands that Mio still wants to have sex with him. They explain that Mio getting an instant boner whenever Raphael wants him to has always been unrealistic, he’s not an incubus, he doesn’t have control over his body like that. They can still have plenty of fun with toys and Mio not coming at the end doesn’t mean he doesn’t like Raphael or doesn’t find him attractive.
(Special shout-out to this post by @/tavyliasin about asexuality and Raphael, it helped me find some of the terms I used here!)
BDSM Part 2
Then Haarlep gives Raphael a lecture about how much of an idiot he is for not doing his research and not even giving Mio proper aftercare! Raphael argues that he’s the sub and he’s never needed aftercare, to which Haarlep counters that he also doesn’t need to eat or sleep because he’s not mortal, he has different needs from Mio and also, doms need aftercare too!
They basically have a long conversation about all the stuff Raphael and Mio have been doing wrong and how they can fix it. Haarlep emphasizes that they are also not an expert on long-term BDSM relationships with mortals, and that Raphael should find someone with more knowledge on this. Or, barring that, at least get some actually useful books on the topic, and not just semi-realistic erotica.
Raphael reluctantly agrees that Haarlep might have a point and agrees to get Mio some better sources of information. He still doesn’t really want to put in much work himself but is willing to at least learn the basics and talk more with Mio about how they want to do things.
They slowly figure things out. Raphael gets Mio books about BDSM and he gets a lot of ideas he probably wouldn’t have come up with on his own. The books are mostly focused on mortal races though, so they still have to figure some stuff out on their own in regards to Raphael being a cambion and having different needs. Mio is allowed to practice some things with Haarlep and ask them for advice (as long as it doesn’t involve sex) and it helps him be more confident when he does things with Raphael later. For example, he practices bondage on Haarlep and can then tie up Raphael much quicker and easier when he does it in a scene.
Mio really enjoys coming up with different scenarios and ways to please Raphael and there’s little Raphael isn’t willing to at least try. Raphael still lets Mio come up with scenes, because the few times he tries it they end up way too long and complicated. (Instead of a simple BDSM scene he writes a three act play, and even he can admit that might be a bit much.) But they go over the rough structure of the scenes before they do them and Raphael knows what he needs to do during the scene to get to where Mio wants them and can give feedback beforehand if necessary.
They solve the “Raphael wants to be surprised” problem by having Mio come to Raphael with a bunch of ideas every once in a while and Raphael telling him if he likes them or not or what he’d want to change. Then Mio uses these ideas during scenes without Raphael knowing exactly when they will happen.
Raphael also realizes that he’s really used to Haarlep being able to intuit what he needs, he learns that he needs to actually tell Mio when he’s in the mood for something specific, ideally some time before they do a scene so that Mio has enough time to both mentally and physically prepare for it.
Sometimes Mio comes up with ideas that he needs a third person for and Raphael eventually allows Haarlep to join them for these kinds of scenes. Haarlep is pretty happy about this, as it’s different from what Raphael and them have been doing.
There are a few things that Mio won’t or simply can’t do and when Raphael has a need for these things he will still go Haarlep. Mio doesn’t have a problem with Raphael continuing to sleep with Haarlep, although he does get a bit jealous when Raphael sleeps with other people. (Keep in mind that Raphael still owns Mio though, they are not in an equal relationship, so Mio can’t forbid Raphael from having sex with anyone.)
Regarding aftercare, they pretty much keep doing what they’ve being doing so far (cuddle, talk about the scene, maybe bathe together) but they also find that Raphael likes to just relax for a few minutes when they’re done with a scene and that Mio likes to praise him for doing well during this time. Mio also likes to be the one to clean Raphael, which he usually does himself when they’re just casually bathing together. Mio often sleeps in Raphael’s bed after a scene, Raphael might take a nap but since he doesn’t need sleep he’s generally gone before Mio wakes up again.
Also, if the scene involves Raphael bleeding (Raphael is both a sadist and a masochist, so he loves it when Mio hurts him) Mio needs him to take a healing potion after and wash the blood of Raphael himself. Raphael would prefer to let it heal naturally (he heals pretty quickly as a cambion) because he wants the pain to last longer but understands that this is something Mio needs to feel comfortable with hurting him to this extent.
Mio ends up really liking:
Dirty talk (loves that he can make Raphael come undone with just his words and likes to both praise and degrade him)
Bondage (loves the way Raphael looks tied up and has a lot of fun coming up with new ways to do so, especially enjoys involving Raphael’s horns, wings and tail)
Dressing Raphael up (Raphael has so many beautiful clothes and Mio loves seeing them on him, also he discovers that Raphael in lingerie gets him really turned on)
Using his strap-on (he gets a magical strap-on that lets him attach anything, especially the variety of dildos they now own. Sex becomes so much easier for Mio with this and Raphael doesn’t complain either once he sees how many dildo options there are)
Using toys (Haarlep relies a lot on their skills and abilities as an incubus, so they used toys pretty sparingly. This means that most toys are also new to Raphael and they both have a lot of fun with them)
Using magic (Mio actually learns magic not for sex related reasons but finds he enjoys finding ways to use newly learned spells in the bedroom)
Receiving oral (Raphael is pretty good with his mouth and it’s one of the few ways that almost always gets Mio off. Raphael also enjoys it, especially when Mio holds him by the horns)
~~~
Ok that’s all I’m gonna write down for now. I honestly thought this was only gonna be like 2-3 pages, can you imagine? I have a lot more I could say about Mio, maybe I’ll make another post in the future. But I also wanna leave some stuff for the fic! Anyway, hope y’all enjoyed reading about my pretty boy Mio <3
Hi, I've been enjoying your fics (esp the fluffs) in ao3. Thanks for that btw!
Idk if you're currently available to accept some prompts but might as well suggest one;
So I've been having this hc where levi started using his actual surname "ackerman" after he found out from kenny about it. I want to know how will hange (ofcrs) and the others will react to it. Thank you!
Erwin is the one, who finds about it first, by the virtue of being Commander.
It's mostly accidental too, and happens when he reads through one of Levi's weekly reports.
He skips over rather dull- in Levi's unbiased opinion, at least- details in the beginning, goes right to the final conclusion, which as week after week goes by, remains almost unchanged: Mikasa is the best out of bunch, Connie, Sasha and Jean are adequate and make a decent team, Armin and Eren are okay, mostly, but are still better suited to work with Hange.
Erwin takes it all with only quiet hum as his reply, however- however, his eyes widen a fraction, when he sees Levi's signature.
"Not just Levi anymore?" is all he asks, as he regards Levi with a raised eyebrow.
Levi falteres, although the question was more than expected, and his reply to it was already prepared. He puts down the watering can and steps away from Erwin's plant he's been tending to. Looks his Commander in the eyes, as he says, "Old man, he-" a curse slips past his lips, and Levi shakes his head with a sigh. That kind of stuff is still hard to share, even with someone as close to him as Erwin. He makes an effort, though. "Told me about our family, and all that. Could be a load of bullshit, of course, but- it feels kind of nice. To know where you come from."
There, he said it, and with minimum amount of cursing and cringing too. A job good done, if Levi can say so himself.
"Levi Ackerman. It certainly has a ring to it," Erwin says, after a moment of pensive rubbing of his chin. How does he do that, Levi wonders, how does he manage to look as a fucking pillar of wisdom, while he simply touches his face. Must be a talent, or- a special power of the Smith lineage. "Although I must admit," the hand is gone from his chin, and in a blink of eye, gravely serious Commander Erwin transfroms into Erwin, a little piece of shit. His lips turn upwards, as he gives Levi a look that fills his blue eyes up to the brim with mischief. "I always expected you to take a different name. We all did, actually."
What- what can he possibly mean? Levi feels lost, lacking the context to understand a joke. Is it some kind of tradition he doesn't know of? Something he's not privy to because he grew up in the Underground? Or is it just a case of Erwin being Erwin - a barely comprehensible motherfucker?
Maybe, it's a bit of both, Levi decides, but just to be thorough, he asks, "What?"
"Nothing," as expected, Erwin gives him nothing more than a quiet chuckle. "Forget I said anything. You may now go, Captain Ackerman."
Levi wants to flip the bastard off, but- subordination and all that shit must be maintained, so he doesn't. Not, at least, until the door to Erwin's office is closed.
___
The next to discover the news are the kids, damn them all. They swarm Levi like a cloud of flies, surrounding him from all sides.
"So!" It's Sasha, who gets the closest to him. And yells the loudest. "You're, like, Mikasa's brother? Or- or uncle? It's so-"
The expression of disgust he pulls at the mere suggestion of being related to the most annoying (after Yeager, naturally) member of his squad is mirrored almost scarily accurate, by none other than Mikasa.
Perhaps, Levi must admit, there is some truth to Sasha's words. But even if they're related, they're definitely not as close as the girl thinks. Distant cousins, perhaps, but that's all Levi agrees to entertain.
"It's kinda weird," amongst the chatter of others, Levi picks up Jean's voice - it's much quieter, whispered into Connie's ear. "I thought Captain had a last name already. Just kept quiet about it, you know-"
Connie's confused shake of a head confirms that he doesn't, in fact, know. Levi doesn't know too, so he drones out Eren's question to Mikasa, and leans a little closer to Jean and Connie, curious to hear the explanation.
Can it be related to Erwin's previous nonsense?
"You know," Jean continues, after granting his friend with a disapproving glance, "To keep that thing- between him and Hange-san in secret."
"Oh," Connie stretches out, delighted. He giggles, elbowing Jean in the side. "That thing." Just as quickly, though, his enthusiasm dies out. "But if Captain actually has a last name, that means- ugh," the boy hangs his head, shoulders slumping in defeat. Levi is utterly lost, again, the conversation between two friends all but incomprehensible to him. "That means that you were wrong. Damn, we owe Mikasa our lunches now."
Why do they? What has happened? What the fuck is going on?
Levi wants to ask, he feels, knows it even that he needs to know. What was that, what thing between him and Hange? Is it so secret that even he doesn't know?
Does Hange?
He should probably ask her about it. But for now- Levi hurries to turn away from two boys, before they take note of his curiosity. Whatever is going on in his squad (and possibly, whole regiment, "We all did, actually", Erwin had said), he doesn't want to become the topic of yet another gossip.
___
He goes to find Hange as soon as he shakes off his squad, but- it turns out that getting rid of six over-excited teenagers is much easier than finding one, incredibly hard-working scientist.
Hange is not in her office, and when he comes to the training grounds, she's not there either; he visits the research facility, but finds it empty too, except for Moblit, who smiles apologetically and says that, "Hange-san is running some errands. Truthfully, I'm not sure when she'll come back. Or if she'll come back. Maybe, you'll find her at dinner?"
Except, of fucking course, Hange skips that too. Frustrated and not an inch closer to finding an answer to his puzzle, Levi grabs some leftovers from the kitchen and goes to eat in his room.
And that's where - fantastically - he finds Hange.
She sits at his desk, brows furrowed and lips plucked, discontent all but written on her face. It's- it's not an unusual expression on Hange's face, especially after a long day of tiring work, but she rarely comes to him, when she's in that kind of mood, so Levi feels the need to ask. Before he can even open his mouth, though, Hange looks up, her finger immediately shooting upwards, to point accusingly at him.
"So when were you going to tell me about this?"
"This?" Levi sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. He had his fill of the riddles today, and now Hange - instead of helping him solve the previous ones - is adding another one? Unbelievable. "What exactly are you talking about?"
"Your last name! Everyone talks about it, but I didn't even know you had one!"
Oh. So it's this thing, again. Levi is thoroughly done with it.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Hange persists, one hand on her hip. "Are we not friends?"
"Of course, we're friends," he replies, without missing a bit. Early on, Levi has learnt that arguing with Hange about that is absolutely pointless. Besides, it's not in his nature to deny the obvious. "And I did tell you about it, when I spoke of-"
"Kenny the Ripper, yes," Hange nods, "Your uncle who you thought was your father."
"Exactly," he shoots back. "You already know everything."
Hange shakes her head. "No. I still don't know why you decided to take his name. And when you made that decision. I mean, you knew that you two were related, so why didn't you take it-"
"I wasn't sure. And I thought he was my father."
Hange cocks her head to the side, looking exactly like Levi was feeling earlier today, in Erwin's office and with the kids - utterly confused.
"I don't follow," she confesses at last, in a small voice.
Levi exhales, and comes to sit at his bed, motioning for Hange to do the same. Once she is there, and her shoulder brushes against his, he explains, "I thought he was my father, a father who, at first abandoned my mother, then did the same thing to me. I wasn't exactly fond of him, in case you haven't noticed, that's why I didn't take his name. But when I found out that he was my mother's brother, I-"
"Oh," Hange breathes out softly. "It's not his name that you took. It's your..."
"My mom's, yeah."
"Oh," she repeats again, this time even softer, much gentler. "Want a hug?"
Without waiting for his answer, or- more probably- already knowing it and seeing right through his bullshit, Hange embraces him. Her hands wrap around his neck, chin lands on his shoulder, digging into his skin and making her touch feel tangible, real. Levi exhales, puts his arms on her waist, allows himself to relax, get lost in the warm cacoon of Hange's affection. And if he pulls Hange a little closer, if his grip on her seems desperate in any way, she is kind not to mention it and patient enough to continue holding him.
"You know," she begins, and Levi shivers, when he feels her hot breath on his neck, "I know it's a little stupid-"
"You're stupid," he shoots back, smiling, when he hears Hange let out a short chuckle.
"Well yeah, I can get a little stupid, when I'm not busy being a brilliant genius, but I was thinking-"
"Yeah?"
"Before Kenny and all that mess, I was thinking that, maybe, and it was foolish of me, I know-" get to the fucking point, Levi wants to demand, but all that gets out is a frustrated grunt. Hange picks up on it all the same, chuckling heartily, before she continues, "Levi, have some patience. But, yeah, I was thinking that since you don't have a last name, then maybe... well, you could take mine. I mean, you already have a name, so that's not necessary, but-"
Levi drones out the rest of the sentence and the rambling that follows after it. He ignores everything else too - time, the world itself seems to be put on a pause, as he wonders: if that was the others have meant earlier? Can Hange mean what he hopes she does?
"Four-eyes." He can't help it, his voice comes out too raspy, too shaken, when he breaks the embrace, inching away until he can look into her eyes. "Do you-" he doesn't quite know how to formulate his question, what words he must use to make sure that Hange is absolutely on the same page as he is. So he tries again, "I didn't exactly pay attention to it, but in the Underground, when someone asks you to take their name, it usually means that-"
"If they're lucky," Hange chuckles - nervously, with fingers fisted into her shirt so tightly her knuckles turn white. She glances up at him, meets his eyes, then fleetingly moves her gaze away. Levi wonders if the red on her cheeks is the trick of light or his own imagination. "It means that, um, that someone loves you very much. And wants you in their life."
"And..." his heart beats too fast, too loud, he barely hears himself. He takes a moment to clear his throat, then, feeling far more scared than in the moments when he has to face a horde of titans, he asks, "Am I that lucky?"
Hange is smiling, which Levi feels acutely, when she presses her chapped lips to his cheek. "So, so lucky, Levi."
He closes his eyes, scarcely breathes, as he lets the feeling wash over him. He is lucky, he is loved. And-
And he loves back, so, so much.
And that's- oh, Levi realizes, that's what everyone has been going on about. The thing between him and Hange. So secret that everyone knew about it but them. Perhaps- Perhaps, in their duo, Hange is not the only one stupid.
"I already have a name," he says, and wonders if that feeling inside of him, the one that blooms so vividly, threatening to take up all of the space in his lungs, is that fear or elation? Only Hange can answer this question. "But if it doesn't bother that someone-"
"That someone," Hange giggles, presses another kiss to his cheek, seemingly as overwhelmed as Levi feels, "would love you all the same. That is, of course, if you-"
How can he not, when Hange's been there for him since the beginning, when Hange is the smartest, the weirdest, the kindest, the funniest, the the, the best out of all of them. For Levi, at least.
"I do," he says, eyes flicking up to meet Hange's, to let her know that he means it. His palm lands back on her waist, so when he reaches out to Hange, he is steady. He glances at her, to make sure that what he's about to do is okay, and with Hange's permission granted in a form of a nod, he puts his lips on hers.
He means the kiss to be short, chaste, but when Hange tangles her fingers into his hair, when she pulls him closer and closer until he's all but on her lap, he can only melt against her and do his best to follow her lead.
Hange is passionate, impatient, and she kisses him like she means it, like she has been dying to know what his lips taste like. And that feeling- that fear that was almost suffocating him, now disappears, turns into a delight so forceful it leaves him dizzy.
When they separate - inevitably, which makes Levi wonder if there is a way for humans to survive without air, if Hange, his brilliant Hange can figure that out, for the sole purpose of allowing Levi to spend the rest of his life just right there, on his bed and in Hange's lap, their lips touching - Hange grins at him, eyes darkening when she catches a sight of his swollen lips.
"Levi Ackerman," she says, announces it, like they're on some sort of an official meeting, and not in the privacy of his bedroom. Her voice is loud as she speaks, and her tone is cheerful and proud, "and Hange Zoe. Separate, but stronger together."
"Mm," Levi nuzzles into her neck, missing her lips already. "And extremely lucky."
"So lucky," Hange agrees, before she lifts his chin. She craddles his face between her hands, caresses his cheeks, while her forehead presses against his, and this- simple touch, filled with so much love- feels as good as kissing. Even better, somehow. "Who cares about names anyway?"
Certainly not Levi, not while his heart is full of love, and his hands are full of his Hange.
And as they kiss again, he smiles.
Lore Theory #1: Beliefs
Tw: for talking about cults, mentioning cults, talking about religion
I feel one of the most ignored aspects in the game is Ennioch, the backstory of Gnosticism, the religious undertones, and the fact that Andrew Allen himself confirmed that there is a parallel within those with Mortimer and Owen-
Tumblr media
After watching the MS I immediately associated a lot of religious themes and subjects as I had some time being involved in the church and served for some time (I had no choice. I am agnostic btw) I had some familiarity and actually experience some of the doubts and questions regarding faith and such.
This actually goes in hand with Owen canonically being considered a God and that phrase Mortimer says about no one being able to strive with their God keeping them.
Also, Riley was called an atheist for not believing Owen was her "father"/creator, which pretty much makes blatantly clear that the puppets are not Owen's actual children but his creations as He's basically God.
So, seeing this tweet and thinking of the religious aspects, made me think about this question:
Do the puppets have an actual religion?
I am not sure, but I think the game has some undertones that probably could incline that there might be it. This is my take on Daisy's phrase:
"A family that prays together, stays together."
I don't see this as a clue of the puppets being related because of a nice little thing called "Show Don't tell" exists and the game pretty much follows it. This phrase in particular feels more related to a religious environment. Something that you would hear in a church or well in a cult as there are religious undertones in some cults (E.I. Jehovah Witnesses, Jonestown.)
I did ask some people and a cousin in how would they take the phrase, and they do agree it has more of a religious connotation than a family related one. This is obviously up for interpretation unless the devs say otherwise.
For the sake of theorizing, I'll be leaning more towards this being a religious theme within the Midnight Show itself (I also don't think the puppets are related so yeah-)
I guess the closest thing to what a religion is for the puppets would be the concept of what is a God to them and the themes involving Gods as Owen is the equivalent of what is a religious entity (mostly Christianity) to our world. He is basically the creator of all things the Puppets know and the one who created them and brought them into a purpose.
Not to mention Atheist puppets are a thing in the game, so I suppose this would count as a religion in the game as there are some mentions of religion in the game (my friend Stich told me she does agree with me in that aspect)
Some themes regarding the religion in the game.
So, Mortimer and Owen are technically Gods in the game. One is confirmed as the God of the puppets, and Mortimer refers himself as a God several times throughout the game (One of the many reasons why I don't see a connection within him and Owen's dad) and has an analogy about power and using concepts that I've seen Machiavelli talk about in the prince (I had to read that book)
I'm mentioning this because I want to talk about Riley being a puppet atheist and a recent discovery that I made regarding Riley that finally puts my whole "Something doesn't feel right with this" regarding how she actually sees Mortimer. Here is my take:
Since Riley doesn't believe Owen is her "father" (since he's considered the father of creation) what if she calls Mortimer her "Father" not because she sees Mortimer as a Father (which thinking more about it, she only says that but I haven't seen more into if she loves him as a father) but rather because it's the most logical answer to her own existence, and she just sees Mortimer as a leader (cult leader TBH)
Riley is a logical person, and she tries to find ways that in her mind she believes work and can be explained through factual evidence (Hence why she's looking at Lord of the Rings as evidence to prove evolution)
As one of my besties put it, all Riley knows is that she was brought to life by Mortimer. She has zero idea how the hell does that magic work, but all she knows is that there must be a logical answer that links Mortimer without the relying on of the supernatural
Riley would, must likely try to find reasoning and logic in the unexplainable and look through things through critical eyes and believe the stuff she has with value. Mortimer was pretty much was that.
I think Riley was most likely to believe Mortimer was her "father" and the puppets evolved through how her methodological mind would perceive things. Why would she believe the human man, what puppets think as castle could possibly be her "Father"/creator?
Owen is not made out of what she is, he doesn't even look like a puppet, but Mortimer is the exact opposite. The evolution theory is basically the whole science vs religion sorta stuff. Riley is using the evolution to disprove Owen (the lab rat) created her.
I do believe Riley eventually started to accept the fact that Owen created in the later years as she doesn't seemingly seem to see Mortimer as more of an individual who she's close but not exactly a father, and she probably called Mortimer "Their true Father" out of respect (as she surprisingly still has some) as
Mortimer hasn't shown any discomfort or care about being called father
Riley only called him that on one tape directly, and later in the tapes I believe it's imply she doesn't really see him as such.
Riley respects Mortimer as a leader, and just wants his approval on her ideas as he's the one in charge and the one she feels the safest around platonically (I am wondering if she actually feels a mix of different feelings, but that is just stretching things)
Besides this being something Riley would do, I do think this is her way of trying to explain one of the themes that we do face in our day to day which is:
What is exactly our existence, and how are we different from a similar concept?
I do believe Riley's metaphor of not knowing how to use a microscope is about just not knowing what some mysteries in their existence have or what exactly is life to something that was simply an inhabited object.
This is obviously a reflection to us and the mysteries of the universe, and I do believe Mortimer is abusing this as he's trying to be the one who holds all the answers but as Riley puts it "She knows that he is just as clueless as she is."
Riley is more observant and a thinker about stuff. Something that the puppets don't really question as they are adjusted to a way of life, which reminds me a lot of the human world and also a bit of cults (to a small extent.)
I am still trying to figure out why the others do see Owen as a God instead of Mortimer, so I would love your POV in this as well.
asdjzekhkjerhf 304 was?? hysterical???? I hadn’t laughed like that in front a show in a long time, I was literally cry-laughing during the online team meeting. gilles’ face 💀💀💀 I could rewatch the ep rn just for this… franchement, merci chloé for sharing your germs with everyone, so worth it 🙏 btw céline complètement croclove de la petiote while adam is trying to keep a semblance of health & safety measures in the workplace, ICONIC. (so many germs-related reaction gifs to make. "LES GESTES BARRIÈRE !")
let’s not forget daphné’s power trip and her gender equality crusade, is it me or did she wink when they told céline the murderer was a woman? je l’adore 😭😂
gilles, vraiment, friend of the year 🥲 because daphné might just eviscerate him when she finds out he lied to her 🥲 ("vous allez tellement bien ensemble" je l’ai mal pris pour lui mdrrr) and it’s cute how jealous he was of timothée, lol!
timothée is way too sweet, actually. like, we know he’s not really meant as a love interest for morgane, but it’s too bad we don’t even get a chance to believe in their relationship (as opposed to morgane & ludo for example) though I’m glad he’s around, tbh, because "ma sirène" is my new favorite term of endearment 🤣🤣
OMG anon, I'm so happy for you that you enjoyed this episode!!! I'm not particularly fond of it myself so I'm glad you gave me more reasons to like it!!
I must say the flu epidemic was extremely fun, I knew from the start that it was obviously bound to happen when Ludo said that Chloé had a fever, and watching that trainwreck was like witnessing a car crash lol 😂 I agree that in that regard, the Zoom meeting was particularly delightful 😍 Also Adam x his steam inhaler is my new ship (really though, between the absence of Beardie, the inhaler, and the thermometer stuff, he was peak sexiness in this ep 🤣)
Céline babytalking Chloé felt kinda weird to me, she never really struck me as a kids person (even when she talks about how she basically never sees her son in season 2, like... she doesn't look devastated so much, you know?) but for some random reason she seems to be obsessed with Morgane's children this season (cf. when her first concern when Morgane was attacked at home was, actually, the kids that weren't even there).
But -- ah, why am I even trying to understand the characters this season? Characterization who? lol. Où avais-je la tête 😅
I 100% agreed that Daphné winked about the murderer being a woman, and she was definitely proud. I love her so much, but this woman is deranged 😂 Also the way she went borderline scary when asking Gilles about who was Timothée's conquest made me laugh so much!! The poor man, torn between his loyalty (and scare) towards Morgane and his scare (and loyalty) towards Daphné lololol!! Their fake dating idea was genius and Daphné's réaction was priceless ("maintenant que tu me le dis c'est évident" looooooool). But also wait until you find out how it all resolves because I have a feeling that you won't get disappointed 😈
Also what do you mean Gilles was jealous of Timothée?
Timothée is boring (imo) and borderline creepy, and I must say I cringed at "ma sirène" but also agreed that it was kinda hilarious. What did you think of the pseudo-romantic scene (grand gesture, rain, champagne metaphor, heart-shaped fade to black, etc) in the end? I might have vomited in my mouth a little 😆
But I have to admit I really enjoyed Morgane trying and spectacularly failing at hiding Timothée from Ludo AND Gilles lol (also Gilles who genuinely thought Timothée was just being rude for wandering naked in Morgane's house... someone protects this man at all cost 🤣)
(also the way Ludo was super chill with his ex's sex life, this man is a GEM 🥰)
Obviously this analysis wouldn't be whole without its crumbs of angst, so I'll leave you with the fact that Morgane's break-up speech was embarrassingly bad because she's usually never the one who leaves. 😢
See, this is why I wasn't behind the idea of jimin getting a fashion brand endorsement, even though I knew it was practically unavoidable. I agree with you and anon that menswear collections tend to be considerably less interesting than women's, so I don't really keep up with it. I kept an eye on it this season because of Jimin, and I wasn't really surprised by anything.
Regarding JiminxDior, I actually loved the W Magazine shoot and the styling. I think all the looks chosen fit Jimin perfectly. I know that posh, elegant Jimin has made a big impression on us, but don't think the sport-inspired is weird on him, since I feel like that's where his personal style has been leaning towards lately. That being said, the suit he wore yesterday did nothing for me (neither did Hoseok's outfit, btw. A semi-skirt on a man? Groundbreaking.) It didn't help that he wasn't wearing any accessories, which are such a signature of his. It felt like it was missing something. I liked some of the looks on the runway, and I think the right stylist can make them work for him.
I know that many felt like Saint Laurent was a better fit for him, and I thought that their collection was lovely for the most part, but honestly, it seems like it's more what we'd like to see Jimin wear and not what he actually wears. I don't think that's what his take on androgyny looks like.
I'm just rambling here, but the point I'm trying to make is that I don't think that any of these brands are Jimin enough for him to go and marry them. I'm kind of mourning the fact that he pretty much lost his right to experiment, and I wonder how will this play out on everything related to the visual part of the album, the photoshoots, the videos. But well, in the latest interview he said he wanted to learn about fashion and bring something new to the brand, so I guess we just have to wait and see how this pans out.
You pointed out something that should be obvious and self-explanatory, which is that indeed a lot of these talks are just what we want to see him like, and that might not align with what Jimin wants, the direction he's going for and that his style changes, whether we like it or not. We can observe, discuss and criticize, there's nothing wrong with that, but at the end of the day it's his decision.
I'm sure all the things you pointed out about how this brand deal will affect not only his style, but all his lines of work, was thoroughly discussed. How will it pan out eventually, I guess we have to see. Endorsing a brand doesn't necessarily mean that it will extend to his music performances, his music videos and everything related to that side of his work. We have to wait until February to see that and despite a collab and becoming an ambassador and slowly but surely coming back in the spotlight, I still believe we don't have any clue about how his solo work will turn out. But this period is nevertheless exciting!
Hi! I read your Odysseus = Darrow post and as someone who did classical studies for many years i wanted to offer you my two cents on the matter because you always give the best analysis so you might find this interesting. I start with the premise that always and forever i’m a darrow stan and a lysander hater, even though i find interesting his path under a narrative point of view. Odysseus is a kind of complex character and I feel that according to how you read his story he can be also similar in many ways to Lysander. I mean, if we think of him as the hero who did not want to leave for war for fear of not returning, but was forced to to save his son, who had the brilliant idea which allowed to win the war, then traveled for years trying to go home to his wife, plus the whole plot with his son, which is also the most known version of Odysseus, then yes, he indeed is Darrow. But under a certain interpretation, he is a man who, although known for his intelligence, benefited from the help and protection of powerful figures like Athena or Circe, often taking merits of other people’s actions. Like there are a lot of different version on the whole plot of the Trojan horse which don’t put him in a very good light (in modern terms), which is very similar to lysander’s whole plot in DA. Also his arrogance and curiosity (always according to certain interpretations) lead him in his travel which caused the death of all his mates. And these are the main traits with which Lysander is presented in IG, especially the curiosity with bad consequences (for others). So I feel like this is a kind of addition to your interpretation of “Lysander is a foil to Darrow”, which i always love to read whenever you add something more. Like they are two faces of the same coin but Lysander is the bad side. Plus, it’s very indicative that Odysseus is particularly linked to two figures which are Diomedes and Ajax and if nomen est omen, it’s a key thing. As for Iliad Ajax, the relation with Odysseus indeed mirrors that of Lysander and RR-Ajax in a brilliant way. As for Iliad Diomedes, we still know too little of RR Diomedes, but it’s interesting because it depends on the direction he will take, whether he will join Darrow or not. Actually, if I haven’t bothered you too much, I think the greek hero which mirrors darrow the most is Achilles. in GS, the Jackal told him to be achilles and learn from his mistakes, which i think is really the key of darrows character. achilles wanted a short life with glory, darrow would have chosen a long one, happy but without glory, but “his enemies bought him war”. I feel this is the whole point: Darrow is trying hard not to be Achilles, but events are bringing him down to that path (though i have no doubt he will succeed). And he is also trying to not be perceived as Achilles, as a glory and fame driven man. The references are many: the whole rage thing, which is another similarity, or even the fact that Darrow is notably fast and often mentions the speed of his feet in duels, which is a distinctive trait of Achilles. And as for Patroclus, Darrow had a lot of people who were his Patroclus. Btw i’m really sorry for how long this turned, I hope I haven’t annoyed you. Have a nice day!
That's very interesting, thank you for your input and you never bother me, you are always welcome to share stuff.
I did not mean it too literally, though. Pierce is not trying to re-tell homeric ballads, he's just inspired by them.
It's interesting to be to see the similarities. Regarding the Darrow = Odysseus/Ulysses, I actually think that Darrow will get to come back to his family after his own odyssey, it's not meant to mirror Ulysses' adventures back to Itaca. He's had his own stuff to deal with and will continuw to have others, it's just that he'll succeed. Also, I sort of disagree that he's most similar to Achillies, because the Golden Son era ended 10 years ago for him.
In Golden Son, I agree that he has similarities with Achillies most of all, but it's Dark Age now. Darrow doesn't 'try not to be like Achillies', he'als legitimately not like Achillies.
Back then, he was self-aware enough to know he shouldn't be fooled by the adrenaline his own glorious stunts gave him back when he was a wee over 20. Now, it's basic instinct, there is no point in Dark Age where he had Achillies tendencies - all he did was his best to survive. And his rage was not a huge part of himself as it used to be, he was in survival mode, he was driven by trying to move forward, not by his own spirit raging at the worlds.
He also mentions that when he was younger he would attribute sheer will and dedication to people who would stay days and nights to do their part, while kow he knows full well it's stimms, as he himself uses. Rage alone cannot fuel him. He cannot even afford it to rule him like he used to do. His purpose is not glory or martyrdom - it's a home to go back to, no matter how impossible it seems.
Also, Lysander being a foil to Darrow is not about being the other side of the coin, it's about being a cheap replica or rather, a bad replica in order to highlight the original. His traits are twisted to highlight Darrow's.
For example, Darrow is extremely hard, if not impossible to manipulate. While Lysander is played like cheap kazoo.
At the same time, Lysander is his own person, being a foil is used to characterize him, not flaten him.
But I do find the Ajax and Diomedes parallels interesting. I kinda hope the RR guys will have something to do with Darrow directly and I wonder if they will parallel the homeric counterparts someway, beyond a bunch of similarities.
Thank you for your input, it's fascinating.
Howl on, 💖🐺
VIRGIL PROPAGANDA i can't believe i forgot to do this for a couple days </3
SO. i have looked through cantos one through seventeen of inferno so far, and here is a very summarized and somewhat interpreted version with a focus on virgil being virgil-y. bit long (I wrote that before I finished I lied) but I'd like to think it's a fun read so perhaps consider reading? <3
but before that i just want to briefly point out that in virgil's pov, what happens before he and dante start their journey through hell is that he (is dead and) lives forever in a section of hell known as limbo because he was born before jesus - it's explained as like. not painful as there's no physical punishments like there are in the rest of hell, but virgil and the other virtuous pagans still are denied hope and god (which is very much a reflection of dante the author's beliefs), so it's pretty much infinite longing for something that will never happen.
so when a cool lady from heaven (beatrice) goes down and is like "hey can you help guide this soppy crying guy (who is alive btw!!) through hell?", virgil kinda agrees without hesitation. partially out of the goodness of his heart but also because he can't hope for his situation to change (same as all the other dead people in hell), and as a lot of the dead people who appear throughout the poem, all he can do is have memories of him passed onto the living through dante. inherent tragedy counter: 1
(and also btw once virgil does start to personally care about dante he will never be enough to help him completely - virgil's thought of as the embodiment of human reason, and while dante the author thinks that's cool and all, he establishes that this isn't enough to achieve paradise - you need divine love. inherent tragedy counter: 2. which beatrice is the embodiment of. inherent tragedy counter: 3. who btw is the woman that dante is in love with or something despite mixed signals at times. inherent tragedy counter: 4)
((yes i feel really bad for virgil, dante was wrong when he said the divine comedy was a comedy and not a tragedy, what the heck))
cantos 1-3: BUT ANYWAYS, dante comes along, says "have pity on me" as his first words to him, speaks "with bashful forehead", and tells virgil to "regard my manhood, if it be sufficient" (last part is taken out of context but whatever). virgil goes "sure whatever", holds dante's hand and looks happy (which comforts dante), and they both go to hell. dante faints and potentially causes an earthquake
canto 4: dante unfaints in limbo with no explanation of how he got there (virgil totally carried him), and they talk to some other old dead guys who are friends with virgil. here is where virgil gives dante the only smile that is present in the whole inferno
canto 5: they go look around the circle of lust, dante is very sympathetic while virgil is not (as is a pattern with him - virgil does not show sympathy towards sinners not in limbo). dante faints again.
canto 6: dante unfaints in the circle of gluttony with again no explanation of how he got there (virgil totally carried him again). author dante says towards the end that virgil and dante were "speaking much more, which I do not repeat". suspicious.
canto 8: virgil kisses dante "on the face" (hm) in a boat. and also he compliments dante's mother for birthing dante i guess. "Thereafter with his arms he clasped my neck; / He kissed my face, and said: "Disdainful soul, / Blessed be she who bore thee in her bosom."
canto 9: medusa appears! virgil goes "dante cover your eyes" so that he doesn't look at her and then covers dante's eyes himself too just in case. kinda cute in my head despite the threat of death
canto 13: virgil holds dante's hand and they walk around in a forest (of suffering reincarnated but we can ignore that). also, not specifically related to my whole virgil moments thing, but author dante wrote this a while earlier: "I think he thought that I perhaps might think"
canto 15: the canto about the circle of hell with sodomy-but-maybe-it's-not-homosexuality! virgil says exactly 5 words (in the original text, number depends on which translation you use). what are you thinking tell me your thoughts i need to inhale them
but for some context on what the circle is, basically, yes, it's the circle for "violence against nature" and there are gay people in dante hell here, but there are also gay people not in dante hell. which has lead people to speculate on whether the people in this section were here for just being gay and dante the author just changed his mind later without editing the section or if the people here did other stuff, like dating people who are much younger than them (don't wanna say a specific age range because i haven't stumbled upon anything talking about just how young but yeah,,).
plus dante the author was more likely at least more sympathetic to gay people than most 1300s medieval people - i've read in several places that the city he lived in, florence, was a lot more casual with homosexuality compared to other italian cities (think the punishments being a fine vs death) dante acts probably the most amicably to the sinners here than to any of the other sinners in other circles sans limbo, and his irl teacher who he looked up to plus a lot of people from florence (which says a lot because he is very very dedicated to his city) are down here
canto 17: virgil tames a a whole dragon looking monster thing for dante and they go ride it in the sky. virgil goes "hey climb on first so i'm in between you and its poisonous stinger tail <3, which dante does. dante also is thinking "i'm gonna fall of the creature, please hug me :(" but doesn't manage to say it out loud. virgil hugs him anyway! (the creature is named geyron and you could totally google it to see images of them riding it btw).
and that reaches the end of the summary for now, but two more things to note about the actual character of virgil:
i was skimming through robert hollander's notes alongside the poem, and at least twice he mentions that it's unclear whether virgil has mind reading powers or can just read dante really well. interesting to think about
on virgil with beatrice: virgil, as he was entrusted by the task of getting dante through hell by her (and therefore by god), references her a bunch when he and dante periodically encounter authorities being like "don't pass". this works and he does it pretty well, doesn't really specifically comment on her personally. i wonder what he's thinking.
UMMM but that is all for cantos 1-17!
keep in mind that i am in no way a proper literary analyzer, was skimming it, and cannot read normally half the time even when i'm not skimming. in fact, while typing this up, i glanced at a website called "recapping dante" and thought it said "kidnapping dante". therefore this is a pre-emptive "i am wrong about something here even if i do not know what it is"
so please take with a grain of salt and vote virgil for gayest classic lit loser anyways <3
thank you! lucky i didn't miss this :)
(i'm off to school now, i can't post any more propaganda until the polls end)
(regarding this ask) Thank you for answering so quickly!!
Lol, I'm not great with keeping the dates in order, the minor details simply escape my memory. But 001 being in his mid-30's makes sense... even though he sort of looks younger? To me? Idk if it's the actor or the way they showed him to us, but I'm honestly really thinking that his age matters, somehow. In his revelatory speech he goes on to say (i'm paraphrasing btw) "Humans go about a day just to get to the end. They live a day, a week, months, years, decades just to meet the end." The emphasizing of time moving forward here, in words, and the scene with Nancy looking at his memories where the grandfather clock's hands move backwards, an action, surely isn't a coincidence, is it? I was curious so I did a search and apparently in the books there's a girl who can see visions of future. Showing someone with that same power in the show seems impossible given what happened, but I'm pretty sure that 001 has powers relating to time. It's a hunch with no other support other than what I've written above, but I'm going to stick with it until S4B/Vol. 2 proves me wrong.
That brings me to my next point: The Upside Down not having any definite answers. Specifically about it being stuck on Nov 6, 1983, the night Will was taken. Now there are two options, A) UD has been stuck like that AFTER Will was taken or B) UD has always been stuck like that. Not exactly always, but maybe since a certain someone entered it maybe... *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Of course we don't know for sure if UD has always been there or El created it, but either way 001 is smart enough to have figured out in the what... 5+ years he's been there that he's stuck in time? So obviously he knew something was going to go down that night, and if he did have visions about it, he knew exactly where to sic the Demogorgon.
Now that I'm thinking about it, what if 001 is the reason the Mindflayer wants to come to the real world? This human from another dimension comes in, and MF sends someone to investigate, right? They're a hivemind so once they do have 001, they have access to learn about this other world. And lo and behold, a few years later El (& Party) is thwarting even the MF's plan.
And about Dr. Brennan: I saw that post asking if he's evil or not, and while I agree about there not being a black/white scale to judge people in real life unlike in fairytales and myths, I do think Dr. Brennan is more on the evil side than the good. His curiosity sparked with the arrival of 001 at his doorstep, and then he told the little kid's father the kid died, and started promptly experimenting on him (probably promptly). Now, years pass by, and he's amoral and does it "for the science". Tortures kid, breaks them, molds them, experiments on them. I even agree that after what happens he feels bad, so very, very bad, because this wasn't supposed to happen, but then he basically asks El to open the gate to another dimension, and that shit just doesn't fly with me. Mostly because I believe he knew about 001 being the true cause of it all, he had recordings, didn't he? So he knew about it. But what really, really fucks me up is this — before the last episode, anytime we were shown the clip of El in the rainbow room after it was all done, that mirror? It was intact. It seemed like an observational room (like the ones in a police station in an interrogation room) and there were probably no cameras. So Dr. Brennan probably didn't know about 001 being the real culprit.
Ugh. This show is just — ugh. Forces you to think, rethink, keep rethinking. But I'm still on the "Dr. Brennan is more evil than good" train for now.
I have one more question, or basically rant lol, but I'll send it in another ask, just because this one has already gotten too long.
~ FF
I think it could just be that he's a young-looking actor.
The show really diverged from the supplemental materials at this point. Prior to this, the Lab was shown as taking in kids with different sorts of powers. Now, though, they've undone all of that and made it so that they all were taught the same powers, though how they've obtained them isn't clear. It's always been assumed that El was born with them, but is that the case for them all?
Again, I don't really know what to make of the Upside Down being frozen on November 6, 1983. Nancy does name drop Will, referring to it as the day he went missing. However, I've seen some fans quickly jump in with that being the day El opened the Gate by making contact with the Demogorgon. Given that they've already established that El sent Peter there, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that it's more linked to her than Will. I mean, why not. Will gets less important and El gets more important with every season.
Brenner was probably changed by the massacre. He only had El left at that point, and he may not have felt comfortable bringing in any new kids after that. He was also shown inspecting the cracked wall where Peter was forced into the Upside Down. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to figure out what that all was. There were cameras in the Rainbow Room. Peter made sure El was aware of that so Brenner wouldn't catch on to his planning. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he disabled them, though. But we have to keep in mind that Brenner retrieved the security footage for that day, even though he wanted to go slowly, just to give Owens the progress he asked for. We even see Brenner hesitate somewhat as he does so. He knew it would be hard for El to watch, so I'm inclined to think he knows what it shows. That, or he never watched it and just assumes it is what he thinks it is.
Just like what he said, heroes and monsters are fairy tale concepts. Brenner is neither, but he has both good and bad in him. He does not deny this. In his mind, I think he's aiming at a "greater good" that justifies the questionable things he does. Whether any of us agree with him, well, that's another story.
I know you've talked about your headcanons on angel/eldritch horror gojo before but 👀
I love them so much please do it again
HELLO !! SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER THIS PROPERLY I HAD TO GET MY THOUGHTS TOGETHER.
here is my gojo is an eldrich being propoganda tag
The short version:
Six Eyes gives Gojo the ability to see through time and space, basically, but he also inherits the memories of the Six Eyes.
His blatant god symbolism was not lost on me even the first time thru lololol, and the more we learn about the Six Eyes, the more confusing it gets.
Manga spoilers for Hidden Inventory + Star Plama arcs and JJK 0 under the cut. I checked the wiki, but had a lot of assumptions about the relationship between the Six Eyes and Limitless/Infinity, so I'm just working with what I remember to be explicitly stated in canon.
Source: just trust me bro
The first thing we learn about the Six Eyes is that Gojo can see much more than what is in his physical field of vision. Idr if it's explicitly stated in canon, but it's generally agreed upon that Gojo physcially covers his eyes to reduce the amount of information the Six Eyes is feeding through his brain.
The second thing we learn is that the Six Eyes reduces the the consumption of cursed energy while using cursed techniques (including domains) to a negligible amount.
In the Hidden Inventory arc, Gojo figures out to Reversed Cursed Technique, which then allows him to abuse the Six Eyes' cursed energy consumption reduction by essentially creating a feedback loop where the Six Eyes would enable Gojo to have RCT active at all times to counterract the physical depletion that would occur from having Limitless/Infinity constantly active.
Now into my own headcanons, because this shit isn't enough on its own.
It started with the Star Plasma arc, where we see our first look into Gojo's childhood. The particular scene I'm talking about is told from the perspective of Fushiguro Toji, then a part of the Zenin clan, who had gone out to scope out the competition send his regards to the Gojo clan. Important to note here is that Toji has his Heavenly Restriction and is already established to have zero cursed energy. The two things that stuck out to me in that couple of panels were the way Gojo was drawn as a child, and Toji's reaction.
As a child, Gojo is drawn to be very clearly intelligent and insightful, wearing a serious expression with a heavy, perceptive gaze. Certainly not the typical way a child looks at a grown man that is very clearly a threat. On top of that Toji's reaction is as close to fear or apprehension that we ever see from him. Toji instinctively knows that Gojo is much more than just perceptive.
Basically what I'm trying to say is Gojo knows things, sees things that he shouldn't.
The natural extension of this, is that he inherits the memories the Six Eyes, which gives him much more experience than he would have in his twenty seven years, even as the darling of one of the Great Clans. In addition to this, he is able to manipulate space on a molecular level, which requires a much deeper understanding of math physics than most twenty seven year olds with degrees in physics might have.
The natural extension of the above, then, is that Gojo can see through time (which btw is probably false since the Six Eyes did not detect Kenjaku in Geto's body). This is more for flavor and horror purposes than anything remotely related to theory lol. I'm just very attached to this passage from my box Gojo wip
He could see faces superimposed over skulls as he waded through the ever-shallower heaps of remains. He hesitated to call them human
All this to say: I think Gojo's conciousness is an extension of a collective conciousness accumulated in the Six Eyes, which thus makes him an eldrich being in my book. He might have tentacles who knows.
Regina spektor anon again (hi!!!) Getting through mash at an unbelievable pace cus ive been putting it on while i ink a 20-something page comic. Im at the end of s7. Margaret being part of hawkeye and bjs little crew is amazing. Her lightening up a bit and also getting more, like, consciously written as sad and hardened by her experiences is soo good. Also i think by s7 theyve finally (correctly) landed on the idea that she does not need to be paired off with hawk or charles or any main cast male in order to justify her presence. Thank god for that cus her Platonic Chemistry with ppl, esp hawkeye, is off the charts. Shes my favorite character i think (her and hawkeye anyhow)- shes just so compelling. Shes also getting a little more masculine sometimes. You see her in fatigues and shit like that which yknow👀. Sapphic hotlips agenda (i know what was up when that old childhood friend came to visit). Btw I love Charles. Hes awful and elitist and a chauvinist but hes definitely a far better foil than frank cus he's capable of holding his own against bj and hawk and he's not a warguy rlly. (I say this with great affection for larry linville and for frank as a character, cus he was great too!! Its just that i like charles more) and watching charles warm up very slowly is great. I tend to not be on charles's side but its very satisfying to watch hawkeye get put in his place sometimes and it also makes it a lot more satisfying to see ppl get one over on charles because its actually a challenge. Speaking of which, i loved in love and war and inga Very Much. What stellar episodes. I demand More slamming hawk into the ground about his misconceptions and fuckups (affectionate) especially regarding women. Also the show made me cry again- when hawkeye tells radar off and makes him cry, margaret's little dog monologue, and especially especially when mulcahy punches that wounded man during the xmas ep??? :,>( the shame he felt was so relatable and touching. again thanks for introducing me to this series, its such a joyful experience to get to know this piece of art and experience it. Ooh oh also, i wanted to weigh in on the Where To Start Debate. While im not a purist and i think any way a person comes to a piece of art is valid, imo the best way to do MASH is to start from the start. The sexism and racism was genuinely very disheartening, and the cornier, sitcom-ier writing does make it feel a little less essential than subsequent episodes and seasons but honestly if you're in for the longhaul it ultimately deepens the experience cus so much of subsequent MASH is invested in interrogating its past, generally thru giving margaret more of a voice and by complicating Hawkeye's role as the guy we the audience are meant to agree with and identify with. The satisfaction that comes with deepening Margarets characterization and taking her problems more seriously is partially predicated on, for example, the early shows casually dismissive attitude regarding instances wherein she was sexually assaulted or harrassed or demeaned. I hope they continue doing that. I know that that isnt an experience everyone wants, but it feels rlly cool to watch the show learn empathy and grow from its crueler, fratbro-ish perspective to something more holistically empathetic. Sorry thats soooo many words dont feel obligated to respond if its too much. I just have thoughts. Thanks.
aaaaaaa hi anon!!!!!! i love reading your thoughts dw <3
margaret's character arc is definitely one of the best things in mash. everyone say thank you to loretta swit for fighting for her character
and yes wlw margaret is so real!!! some ppl hc her as a lesbian, i personally prefer to think of her as bisexual bc her relationships with men on the show are too important to her character to consider them comphet. 2 me. all headcanons are beautiful though love is love
i'm so happy you like charles! he's definitely a more fitting antagonist for the kind of show mash became by season 6. the way his character is explored does add a lot more depth to the show (and at some point i feel you'll find yourself rooting for charles too lol. maybe! maybe not) and dont worry there will be more slamming hawkeye into the ground. maybe too much even
and i think you're right about starting mash from the pilot! part of my enjoyment of mash is about seeing how it changes, evolves and confronts its own shortcomings. for some people that might not be the case though, so i generally think if someone's not vibing with season 1's pacing or jokes but still wants to check out the show, s2 is a solid place to start. it has a soft pilot AND it's one of the best seasons of television ever like literally win win
youre always welcome in my inbox!!! i'm v jealous of you experiencing mash for the first time tbh so i'm living vicariously through you lol
