Part 2: Unfortunately for Byaku, Phantasos appeared behind him and blew into his ear. She spoke in an eerie voice, “Hello.~ You look very delicious.” She took a step back and giggled at his reaction. She was not into scaring people like her brothers were but pranking people was fun.
۞ ┊ Byaku really thought that the night's pranks were over. The entire night he has been nothing short of harassed by his fellow Specter companions. At least, the ones on his level. His superiors disliked participating in 'children's play', as Lune once put it. But, woe, the poor teenager completely forgot about a certain goddess that loved to torment him.
Tumblr media
۞ ┊ "AH!" the man jumped out of his skin -- his fists tightened and he became as stiff as a wooden plank. He really hated this day, every year...
He was, yet again, seconds away from opening Purgatory.
But the boy turned and gave a pathetic whine when Phantasos turned away from him with a giggle. "Aah... You and Bi Fang are going to kill me one day!!"

Jack-o'-Lanterns
Back after watching the first Venom movie I wanted to write fic of it but never did for a few reasons. Now, my love for these two having been renewed by watch the 2nd movie, I finally have. So this is my 1st Venom fic, I had ot make it Halloweeny because it's that time of year.
-
Eddie’s meandering train of thought derailed and faded away as Venom nudged him to a stop to look at the skeleton hanging in the window of convenience store.
“It’s fake,” Eddie said, quickly cutting Venom off before he could bring up anything under the assumption that it was real. That conversation could’ve only led to another discussion about eating brains and Eddie was not in the mood for that. “It’s made of plastic.”
Venom’s emotions were harder for Eddie to detect and make sense of but even so he was pretty sure Venom was mildly disappointed by that. I guess it is better that way. If it was real, it could only be a child’s skeleton and that would be bad. But still, why is it here? This isn’t the kind of thing Mrs. Chen normally puts up in the window.
Oh right, of course he didn’t know, he’d have no way of knowing, he was an alien. “It’s a Halloween decoration.” Which meant it was October. How was it already October? Time only ever seemed to accelerate even when one’s life was shaken to the core via suddenly sharing a body with sentient alien goo.
Halloween. Venom seemed to almost sound the word out. I believe I’ve heard this word before on TV.
“It’s a holiday celebrating, uh… scary stuff, I guess. Like ghosts and vampires and… you know, other scary things.”
We’re scary. So does that mean it is a celebration of us?
“No. You’re an alien so I’m pretty sure we don’t count.” Or at least Eddie had never seen any alien stuff being related to Halloween before. “Besides it’s supposed to be fictional stuff. It’s not supposed to be about anything real.”
More disappointment from Venom but quickly banished this time. And the pumpkins with faces cut into them are part of this Halloween too?
Eddie hadn’t noticed before but there were indeed a pair of jack-o’-lanterns placed to either side of the hanging skeleton’s feet. “Yep. They’re called jack-o’-lanterns.”
Venom thought about it for a few seconds before speaking again. I like them.
“Yeah, they’re pretty cool.” With that Eddie moved on, entering into the store. Passing by the counter, he lifted a hand in a small wave in way of greeting Mrs. Chen.
This being a frequent shopping place of theirs made finding everything they’d come here for easy. There was one addition though. Near the counter, against the end of the center row of shelves was a small box filled with pumpkins. Upon approaching the counter, Eddie slowed to look at it.
It had been a long time since he’s last carved a pumpkin for Halloween. For a few years after moving into his apartment he’d had a couple fake jack-o’-lanterns to put out as decoration that had sense gotten lost somewhere. He’d considered replacing them a few times but had never felt compelled enough to bother. This year though things were different and by ‘things’ he meant his whole life practically, so why not have a little fun? Venom had said he’d liked the jack-o’-lanterns in the window after all. So with a shrug he grabbed two of the smaller sized pumpkins from the pile and added them to his basket.
What are those for?
“We’re going to make jack-o’-lanterns.” It was a bit early in the month for it but if he put it off for later there was a very good chance he’d never get around to it.
***
Venom sat back, watching as Eddie hollowed out the pumpkin. He sat on the floor, facing the TV – it was on but neither of them were paying attention to it – holding it between his knees as he scrapped a spoon around inside it. He put all the guts – as he’d called them, they weren’t anything at all like real guts – and seeds in a bowl next to him.
Once it was about as hollowed out as it was likely to get with Eddie doing it, he put the spoon the side and picked up a knife instead. Using an inelegant sawing motion, he carved two triangle shaped holes near the top followed by a mouth shape underneath with two ‘fangs’. The end result was a wonky face. The smile was lopsided, the fangs placed unevenly upon it with one being notably larger than the other. The eyes weren’t quite the same size or shape either and one was place just a bit higher up than the other.
Eddie hated it. Venom could taste his displeasure. It was almost exactly like when he tried to write an article only to ball the paper up and throw it into the trash – or delete the document if it was typed – instead of attempting to publish it anywhere. It was bitter and unpleasant.
It’s cute. As far as Venom was concerned its wonkiness was endearing no matter how Eddie felt about it.
Instead of feeling comforted as Venom had hoped, Eddie grew annoyed. “Yeah, yeah, I know it’s not great.” He’d thought Venom was teasing him. “It’s been a long time since I last carved a pumpkin, all right? Not that I was ever really good at it but I used to better. It doesn’t matter anyway, only like the two of us are ever going to see it. … Whatever though. You want to do the other one?” He looked over at the other pumpkin on the ground next to them.
Yes! Needing no further invitation, Venom took control of their hands.
First, he carefully placed Eddie’s pumpkin carefully to the side before pulling the second one closer. He then followed the steps Eddie had done when carving though Venom did it much faster and more efficiently. In all, in about a fourth of the time it had taken Eddie to finish his, Venom had completed his jack-o’-lantern. It was an approximation of his own face. Halloween was supposed to be a celebration of scary things after all and by human standards they were scary.
“Wow, you’re a narcissist,” Eddie said with a chuckle as they looked down at it.
You like it though. Venom could feel it and Eddie had to know that by now.
“Well, I guess it does look cool.” He was feeling a bit better too which was good. “How’d you get so good at this?”
It’s easy. I have your muscle memory to work with, I just make it better.
“Hmmm… Let’s just go put them on the window sill.”
Venom snaked a tentacle out of their back to grab Eddie’s pumpkin while he stood up to walk them over to the window sill. There was barely enough room to place the jack-o’-lanterns on it. Following Eddie’s lead, Venom placed the pumpkin facing inwards; no one would be able to see them through the window anyway.
“We’ll get lights for them next time we go out. I forgot to get some this time. And we might want to carve more before actual Halloween. They don’t exactly last a long time.”
Oh, more? That should be fun. For now though he was pleased with what they had. Eddie still wasn’t but he was just like that sometimes.

Typography Tuesday:
Spooky Halloween Skull & Devil Borders!
It’s almost Halloween and there’s no better way to celebrate on a Typography Tuesday than sharing some borders featuring those things inside us that prevent us from being big piles of goo (skeletons) and those little demons that threaten to draw us into darkness from Specimens of Printing Types and Ornaments Cast by James Conner & Son, printed in New York by William L. S. Harrison for James Conner & Son in 1852.
These borders are particularly nice for all your, oh I don’t know, holiday or maybe birthday party needs! You know, “memento mori” and all that. Wouldn’t you like to get a spooky Halloween card featuring these borders? I find the skull and crossbones particularly inviting and festive! And what exactly are those little devils chewing on?
Happy Halloween to all you ghouls out there!

Cas x Reader Halloween Drabble
I’m currently working on chapter 3 of the Cas x Reader, Crowley x Reader Series, but haven’t had time to finish it yet. The last week of classes was Hell with over 10 assignments due on the same day, and a math test, I haven’t had much energy to write. But, since its mid-October already and I just got so pumpkins yesterday, I thought a cute Halloweeny drabble was in order!
Cas X Reader Halloween Drabble
Pairings: Castiel x Reader
Summary: Y/n is carving a pumpkin; Cas is confused. (~520 words)
Reader Gender: Any
Reader Sex: Any
Warnings: None really, just some cute fluff with adorable, confused Cas
 Pumpkin Carving
You had just finished laying some newspaper out over one of the tables in the library, and brought your pumpkin and carving knives in. Standing back and surveying your setup you smiled. This was the first time in ages you had gotten to carve a pumpkin for Halloween, and you were excited. You sat down and set out to start carving a toothy grin into the orange gourd, right as Cas popped up behind you. “Hello, Cas,” you said, used to his sudden intrusions by this point, and not like they were unwanted, Cas was a good friend… and kinda your secret crush, but we won’t get into that.
“Hello, Y/n,” Cas replied in his signature rough voice. “Come sit with me!” You said excitedly motioning to the chair beside you. “You seem very enthusiastic today,” Cas spoke in observation as he took a seat in the wooden chair beside you. “Yeah, I am. I finally get to carve a pumpkin this year!”
“You’re excited about carving a gourd? …Does it taste good?” Cas said cocking his head questioningly as you dove in with your knife, carving a classic jack-o-lantern face.” You laughed at his response, “No, Cas,” you said shaking your head and failing to hold back your chuckles at his response.
“I’m not gonna eat it,” you said still looking down at your pumpkin as you carved it, “I’m gonna put it outside. Like a decoration.” “You decorate your house with chopped vegetables?” he asked still looking quizzically at the orange pumpkin in front of you. “Ummm… yeah, I guess so.”
“Hmmm,” Cas looked from the pumpkin to you cocking his head to the side. Those beautiful blue eyes still full of some many questions, but you could tell he was holding back. After finishing the mouth, you turned to Cas smiling. And wiped your forehead with your arm, but ended up smearing pumpkin guts on your face. “Is this customary aswell?” Cas asked looking up at your forehead. “Huh?” you said following where his eyes were looking, and then you felt the pumpkin goo drip down your brow. “Oh, dang it!” you exclaimed. “Here,” Cas said summoning a washcloth from the bathroom into his hand, “Allow me.” Before you could realize what was going on he started wiping your forehead clean with the warm wash cloth, and you blushed at the close proximity. “Uhhhh,” you mumbled dumbly looking at his intent face as he washed you free of the orange goo.
He finished and removed the rag from you head, closely inspecting your face to make sure he got it all. Your cheeks flushed even more and your body temperature began to rise as you felt his gaze upon you. This felt so intimate. But then just as suddenly as he began he was gone. He backed away and stood up, “Thank you for explaining this human tradition to me,” he said and poofed away.
You were left with some increasingly unsolved emotions and tension, but little did you know Cas stood behind a wall only meters away trying to calm his fluttering heart and feelings as well.
