What would you say are your more controversial opinions about the hp characters?

ohhhh okayyy. i feel like my opinions on a lot of the characters aren’t controversial because i dont feel super strongly towards anyone in any negative light but here are some i could think of at the top of my head:

i’m glad the malfoys faced more extreme backlash after the second wizarding war. a lot of people in the fandom seem to be very sympathetic towards draco and scorpius for getting dogpiled with the brunt of it (which yeah, it sucks, especially for scorpius) but the prejudice makes complete make sense to me. if i was someone who didn’t know scorpius’ character, and had someone from my family get killed in the second war due to death eaters or something— seeing the malfoys still be wealthy and walk around freely without any jailtime, i would be bitter too. they’re hated on but they’re still one of the richest families ever, so they’ll live LOL

another anon has asked about this and i haven’t responded to them yet but when i do i will link it here for my reasons. basically: the best character in the cursed child is harry potter. i think the way they wrote his character and ptsd carried the play. it was def his story, not albus’.

i do think dumbledore has some aspects of him that may be considered morally gray, but mostly i dont think he is. he does everything for the good of the world, and his complete selflessness leads him to sacrifice anything for it— even himself and the people he loves, when necessary. i completely understand why people wouldn’t agree with his methods though.

james potter isn’t a sunshine character he’s a dickhead. fans of him made him a golden retriever character to be more palatable for modern times. i like him the way he is: an asshole and then less of an asshole 👍 this is what true stanning looks like

pansy parkinson is racist and out of all the female side characters, developing HER is so questionable from fandom

harry had questionable descriptions about a lot of male characters to make people think he could be a little 🏳️‍🌈 there was bill, there was sirius, there was cedric. but draco is not a part of that list. harry was not feeling draco whatsoever throughout the series but drarry shippers cling to that one ‘obsessed’ line

furthermore, harry rejecting draco’s offer of friendship wasn’t a sad or a ‘what if’ scene. draco was being a classist piece of shit and harry didnt want to fuck with that, there isnt any way in any timeline he wouldve accepted draco’s friendship.

slytherin sucks just generally lol. people want so bad to pluck anti-heroes out of a series that was written specifically with the mind to make all the characters suck.

hermione and ron’s drama isn’t as toxic as people make it out to be. yes, this includes the time hermione sent birds after him. people act like its the end of the world but she was tackling puberty and the end of society soooo i give her a pass to tweak out.

mostly every harry potter character has horrific names. like literally mostly everyone. even the name harry potter 🙁

movie romione wasn’t that bad LOL

severus snape’s ‘redemption’ or whatever was so ass. he bullies kids for five years and then everything is chill because… true love? on harry’s mum? are you kidding me 💀

weasley family angst goes hard but people (especially percy stans and some ron&ginny stans) acting like they’re the most toxic family to walk the earth make me want to rip my hair out and eat it. molly loves her kids guys shes not evil. jesus.

genuinely trying to think of more but i can’t right now…. maybe i will reblog and add to it. i feel like most of my opinions aren’t that controversial though 😭

Unpopular opinion? Maybe, I’m not sure! I didn’t really like Devlin at first (To be fair I didn’t exactly Love Albus either but-). He was so stuffy and a kiss ass and so rude to his brother. His character development was really really nice! And his voice for him really well!! I would’ve never guessed he’s the older brother haha~ (Please tell me he’s shorter than Albus, that would make everything x1000 better lol).

I am curious though, why does he like Faithful? Or rather, what specifically about her? Because she’s ‘holy’ and he’s a Paladin? Does his reason change?

He's actually taller, which I think makes it hilarious.

Why does Devlin like Faith? Well, it was because of association. Faith was the only sane person he could trust in the world after he was kidnapped. Maybe that gives him some form of Stockholm.

Either way, in canon, he's over her now.

i won't write great about the fantastic beasts characters because it's been a long time since i've seen it but i tried my best, i hope you enjoy! :)

Gellert Grindelwald

i feel like this man is possessive as hell

more of an isolating and protective yandere

he doesn't want anyone pressing a finger to any hair on your pretty little head

above all else he is driven and charismatic so after his obsession develops, he will immediately sneak in there and manipulate you

but he also wants you to depend on him, that way you will never leave

he wants to make you his whether or not you know it

he fills and indoctrinates you into think all muggles and wizards supporting them want to hurt you, that he's only trying to protect you because you're so special

he almost wants to curse you for gripping his heart so tightly, for controlling him without even knowing it

he has few qualms about killing in front of you but he'll try not to, just not very hard

when it comes to the wedding, he might try and convince you by inventing a false prophecy that if you don't he'll die

you wouldn't want to hurt him so, will you?

he doesn't like physically telling you how much he loves you, instead he'll say things like "We belong together." or "You're very special to me."

he does make an effort to keep you protected and feeling secure

and he doesn't like other people talking to you too much

if you also had a deep connection with Dumbledore then Grindelwald would make sure to server that tie, whispering lies about him wanting to betray or hurt you

as far as kids go I think he would them to keep his lock on you and to further his line but I'm not sure how deeply he would care for them

if any of them favoured your features however I think he would grow especially fond of those children in particular and teach their sibling to hold them in higher esteem

i think he would grow quite clingy over you, always keeping you on his arm when it's safe

Albus Dumbledore

this man already has a mischievous spirit and high charismatic presence so i feel like he could get you to trust him easily enough

after that he puts in all the works, fixating on you being in his life and drawing away for just long enough to keep you longing and missing him

he wants you to want him too, unlike some of the other yanderes who don't care so much about making your relationship real, he needs it

he would give you gifts in forms of sweets particularly so you associate them with him

he will insert himself into the most intimate parts of your life so you can't escape him

he doesn't want another lover to let him down like Gellert did so he manipulates what you can and can't do whether that be your friend suddenly avoiding you or you start feeling mysteriously ill out of nowhere

as a husband he is attentive and will likely bring you to live at hogwarts by his side, never leaving his sight

he doesn't lock you away though, he doesn't need to when he has you safely among the school

how much trouble can you get up to under his watchful eye?

he gets a certain thrill when there is danger about and you crawl into his protective hold

if you start teaching he will encourage it in fact, liking the way you integrate your lives together

as far as children goes he doesn't really want them, your always surrounded by them and watching grow, if you really want one then he won't mind you giving some extra support to some of the kids or being particularly parental but other than that he's not fussed

he is a regretful man and so i think he also makes a point to make sure none of those regrets include you even if his antics get quite obsessive, giving you flowers almost everyday and smothering you with affection as soon as he wakes up even if you're still asleep

if you ever died he would want to go with you and enjoy "the next great adventure" by your side

he doesn't intend to live without you

Aberforth Dumbledore,

in his school years that instead of negotiating, he preferred to settle things by duelling and combat

therefore i imagine he would approach this in a similar way

unlike his brother, he does not dedicate himself to winning your affection or charming you, he may very well attempt at developing a love potion or just take you away

he was not above using underhanded tactics against his foes and you would see this in how he interacts with you, for example he might use polyjuice potion to gain your trust in someone you are close with's body

he doesn't care how he gets you, just that he does get you

i think he could very well be a punishing yandere if you do not give in to him

as for the wedding i think he would want a small ceremony if any at all

potentially could use influencing spells such as the imperius curse if he won't get caught

i could see him wanting you to have a daughter with him so he could name her Ariana to honour his sister

whether or not you are a wizard/witch yourself, he is far more powerful than any other and he knows it

legilimency is frequent in your relationship, he doesn't see much point in asking you something if he can just know it already and the more he finds out the harder he falls, your thoughts infiltrating his brain is what fed his attraction to you in the first place

he will hold a grudge if you try to escape and will make the effort to make sure you watch while tied up as he blocks off every possible exit you could make

eventually his trust will be earned back but it might take a year or longer

Percival Graves

this one was a bit trickier because out of everyone i know the least about him but i think he would be a calculative yandere...precise

he is ambitious and serious

he does care about what you want and is willing to develop a romantic or platonic arrangement but he will always see you as his

if you're not married to him then you won't be married to anyone at all

he will trick people carrying romantic interest to you with rumours and lies about you until you come crying to him, he likes to comfort you and will do whatever it takes to feel your warm body in his arms

he will consistently take you to work events and slowly make you dependent and close with people connected to him and only him

he doesn't mind how long it takes until you get to the point where you accept his advances, he can wait

all because he knows it's necessary and once you are together then he will never have to work so diligently for it ever again

the wedding will seep of extravagance and he will keep the ceremony intimate

this is for you and him, no one else

he doesn't particularly care if people try and convince you to leave him, he dispels any of your worries by telling you they are poisoning your mind

he knows them better than you do, he assures, listen to him and no one else

he won't be a very bloody yandere i don't think

he's got too much at stake and he knows that if you ever found out about it then everything would be over

i don't know whether or not he would care for children, i think he would prefer to keep a small family

Severus Snape

this man has already lost one woman he believed himself to be in love with, he doesn't want to lose another one

and if anyone takes away the person he is infatuated with then there will be hell to pay

he has the dark lord on his side now but he is also a skilled potions master, if someone gets to close to you he can easily slip an extra helping into their cup or food of something less...appetising

enough to maim them seriously, maybe in an indistinguishable way

he will only resort to murder as a last stitch attempt

he can't lose you, he refuses to

he won't propose, he knows he won't accept no as an answer anyway and will force an agreement, perhaps threatening those you care about so he can keep you

as far as archetypes go i think he would be on the eliminating side of things

Lily chose James over him and so he simply won't give a choice this time

doesn't have the energy for such things

he doesn't have time for it and he's not lenient either

surprisingly he's not too possessive, he will keep a keen eye on the friends you choose but won't hurt them if he thinks he can trust them enough

he's not particularly fond of children so i don't think he would push the subject but if you wanted them i could see him begrudgingly complying

when he sees harry he is still furiously raging at the sight but it will be subdued if you have children of your own

i could see him locking you away once the war is started no matter what side he is on

Voldemort killed Lily, he will have no problem kill you too if you're on the side of the order

whichever side of the war you are on, so will he

Backstory

Born in Nova Scotia, Canada to immigrant muggle parents, Paisley grew up in a small fishing village just on the outskirts of a port city. Because of this, she spent many days on fishing vessels with her father and older brother, while her mother worked as a teacher at the schoolhouse in town. When she was eight, her mother fell gravely ill and unfortunately passed away from complications of scarlet fever. Her father, Pierre, often struggled to balance work obligations with raising Paisley and Mathieu, and more often than not her older brother was left responsible, which caused her to develop a great deal of independence.

Being from a non-magical family, Paisley's magic was a startling discovery. It revealed itself when, while arguing with her brother, she made a milk bottle spontaneously explode in frustration. The following morning, two members from the Ministry for Magic arrived, explained magical abilities to her and her family, and promptly enrolled her in the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

She was sorted into the Horned Serpent house, based on her high level of intelligence and ambitious, goal-oriented mindset.

Paisley excelled in her studies, her hunger for knowledge consistent, and while graduating from her fifth year she was recognized for her advanced magical comprehension. She was hand-selected by the Minster for Magic himself to take part in an accelerated graduate program at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, and with great excitement she transferred at the start of her sixth year. Having researched the Hogwarts houses before her arrival, she anticipated being sorted into Ravenclaw... however the mysterious rumours about the Slytherin house fostering several dark wizards in history captivated her curiosity, and thus the sorting hat placed her there instead.

Soon after arriving at Hogwarts, she was captured by a well-known criminal, who subsequently bit her and changed her into a vampire against her will. The details around this, and why she was selected specifically, are still unknown...

HP Rec Fest, Day 19

@hprecfest couldn’t come up with a better prompt on my birthday if they wanted 😂 my moment to be the horny on main has finally come (pun intended) and I had so much fun planning this rec post - it’s been a long time coming too, as naturally this was the very first prompt I checked when the fest started! You can probably guess just by looking at this rec list that I’m a big smut fan and champion. I love reading it, talking about it and reccing it. The fics I reread the most are PWPs and I’m even more obsessed when they offer hot dirty talk (am actually picky about it!) and exceptional character development. In fact, some of the most insightful, sensitive and sophisticated character studies I’ve seen come from deeply underrated smutty fics and I’ll die on this hill!

Today I’m breaking my own rule of only reccing two fics and avoiding stories I’ve recced before because a) this is too good an opportunity to scream about my faves again b) it’s my birthday and I can do whatever I want 😌 the Drarry rec was actually bit more challenging as my usual smutty favorites involve rare pairs. I’ve been working hard to highlight lesser known fics but this time I’m staying true to the request - which of course it’s completely subjective - and chose my favourite even if it’s a widely known and popular fic. I love how desperately wanton Harry and Draco are for each other in this fic! I keep replaying every dirty word, every slutty kiss, every chaotic and intense af sexual encounter they have over the course of this superb and deliciously long case fic/secret relationship series. at this point everyone and their dog has heard of, and read, this series but if you haven’t yet you’re in for a treat! block your schedule this holiday season and go grab some popcorn for this brilliant masterclass in writing, flangst and smut - so much top notch smut to feast on you’ll want to live in this universe forever. you’re welcome!

Am I biased due to my particular fondness for age gap and sharing/cuckolding kink? Maybe so 🌝 but I promise you this is unlike any other smut you’ve read before - it’s not only smoking hot with the kind of self-indulgent, relentless athletic sex that leaves you sweating (and horny), it’s also pov multiple written in the first person and how brilliant is that??? birds sells herself short in the AN saying this is just 30k of pure unadulterated porn but I’d argue this is actually a masterpiece, an extremely clever, nuanced and perfectly executed character study, mainly of Scorpius. I am impressed beyond words by what birds was able to deliver in 30k of yes, unapologetic kinky smut. DILF Draco, wanton Albus and sweet conflicted Scorp are a sight to behold and will live rent free in your mind after you read this 🪦

Bonus:

Utter Cockslut (A Worthy Cause) by Lokifan (Drarry, Draco/others, E, 7.5k)

Harry grinned darkly. “All right, Draco, get ready for the last few. Make sure you’re good for them; I’m a man who keeps my promises.”

Draco went up on his toes, craning round to see the next wizard. He strained to make out faces in the murky light; after being fucked by Weasley, he knew it could be almost anyone waiting for their chance to have him.

He felt anxiety shiver through him deliciously. Harry went and spoke to the wizards there, his voice low and businesslike. Giving them instructions on how to use him, maybe? Draco hurt from desire.

gangbang galore!!!! this fic has been one of my favourite PWPs to revisit for some years now. I’ll never get over Lokifan’s smut tbh, every fic was obviously written to check my personal boxes and the pacing, characterization and dialogue are so masterfully done I’m always gutted when it’s over. they’ve written smut for some of my favorite ships and they’re all equally delicious but nothing beats (hehe) this one: downright sinful and decadent as the summary suggests but also surprisingly very sweet! established drarry doing the nasty together is my comfort food and here you can feel how much trust and love they have for each other. Harry & Draco are 100% connected throughout the whole fic and the bits of playful teasing, desperate affection and tender aftercare in-between fucks made me swoon! this is a must read for anyone who loves to see Draco getting some diq and loving it, but also to my fellow Dron fans out there! their smutty times are deliciously hot and so funny too, with a lovable horny Ron being egged on by the devils. HBD me! 😂🎉

I've got four HP headcanons I won't budge on, ever

In no particular order:

1. Minerva McGonagall is a lesbian. I refuse to acknowledge the supplementary material the TERF wrote online, tyvm.

2. You don't have to dunk your face into a pensieve in order to enter the thoughts in it. A touch with your finger or hand is enough. It's just how Harry first entered one in his fourth year and nobody has seen a reason to correct him. Dumbledore always lets him enter first in HBP because he finds it incredibly funny and endearing and honestly it's gone on for too long to say anything at this point and he always allows himself a little chuckle before following which is why he always arrives only when Harry has already finished taking in his surroundings in the memory

3. Albus Dumbledore and Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody had a short and ill-fated relationship after the 1st war, which slowly developed during all of those court meetings. This conveniently answers the question why the most powerful, cunning, manipulative wizard of his age (Dumbledore) didn't catch on that Moody, whom he apparently knew well, wasn't moody in GoF. He kept his distance, didn't ever look too closely at fake Moody because of residual pain and complicated emotions.

4. While we're on the point of ignoring what the TERF said, the decision to make Harry an Auror will never not baffle me. How on EARTH can you misunderstand your own main character this fundamentally? (Yes, I know the answer, centrist Blairite Libertarian) The only logical career for Harry, especially after re-reading DH, is DADA teacher at Hogwarts.

How do you feel about the fact that Bellatrix was Voldemort’s concubine/lover?

This ask prompted a real coleslaw of emotions.

Top level, I can't take the Cursed Child seriously as canon. I'm a purist about text to begin with — no word of God or adaptation can change what you put in the original books, and if the author wanted the text to be different, they had their shot — but, even if not, the Cursed Child is bad. Like, it's My Immortal type bad. It's the kind of bad that makes you glad it didn't come out closer to the original books + movies, or it could have had a Game of Thrones-type cratering effect on discussion and fandom. The Albus/Scorpius dynamic is cute — everything else about it sucks. It is a no-fly zone for good ideas. The Golden Trio are all twisted into funhouse mirrors, Voldemort has a daughter, and most perversely, the absolutely horrific mutilation of Cedric Diggory's character (in no world did that boy become a Death Eater! he was KIND AND DECENT! and he DIED ANYWAY! that was THE FUCKING POINT!!!!!!!).

Second layer: let's say that Bellatrix/Voldemort is canon and explored beyond the writers going "whoops gotta find a working womb for Voldemort's kid." That's a really interesting dynamic. It's a horrible dynamic! It's a motherfucker of an age gap to begin with, and it would have started when she was in her late teens to early twenties! Plus, she was married. To another man. So that would have to be explained? Because she obviously wasn't always so mindlessly devoted to Voldemort that she couldn't entertain connections with others? But that's not to say that I'm against it as a narrative decision. Tom Riddle is (captain obvious moment incoming) a Bad, Bad Man, and the idea of him seducing a younger woman is actually an understandable extension of his connection with his followers that's not explored in the books. Because, like: the Death Eaters are a cult! Riddle runs a death cult. Cults use sex to manipulate members. One of the oldest tricks in the book.

Third layer: this could be a kind of interesting move for Riddle, who as a villain is never developed all that much, and doesn't have much in the way of humanizing qualities. Because Riddle is anti-love as such. He doesn't believe in it, and if you believe Dumbledore, he's not capable of it. (I don't really love this take on the character, but I think that Riddle thinks this is the case, and Dumbledore is so grizzled and jaded by the years that he believes him. Dumbledore's great failure with Tom was never seeing past the person Tom wanted him to see — or, rather, looking at Tom and seeing Grindlewald when he should have seen Harry.) So for him to harbor enough affection for Bellatrix to take her as his (only?) lover, when he doesn't seem to need it to convince her to join him (and he doesn't really need her support, anyway) creates a wrinkle in the Story of Voldemort as we're told. It suggests that either Tom or Dumbledore (or both) is lying about his capacity for love— or at least his capacity for human attachment. And that Tom isn't so unique as either of them would like to believe.

Also, it adds a wrinkle to Bellatrix's character, too: even if they met when she was an adult, there's manipulation happening there that's clearly one-sided and unequal. or at least, there probably is. and if it's consensual, or if she aggressively pursued him— that's interesting, too. my point being: this isn't a bad idea, necessarily. it's a bad idea because i don't think the writers of the Cursed Child thought about any of that when they were trying to find a womb for the Voldebaby.

B. A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.

Challenging! These days I largely get into canons after figuring out there’s a ship I’ll like, and I’m pretty accurate at guessing that. Last time it happened was probably… Bunny from The Charioteer? Which I went into for the main ship, Ralph/Laurie (a good ship!), and then I read @mildredmost’s Golden Age. That fic absolutely got me shipping Bunny/Hazell, a ship that doesn’t interact in the book, and more broadly cemented my love for Bunny as a character. The power of a great fic!

K. What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Haaaa well I do tend to like characters who don’t develop, but. I’ll shout out the book I just finished, Henry Henry by Allen Bratton, whose main character Hal is delightful. He’s a terrible person and doesn’t really get less terrible by the end, but what develops is our understanding of him, and perhaps his own sense of self. That’s the sort of development I most enjoy. ❤️

T. Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Yes!!! Tom Riddle/Voldemort can feel love: romantic, platonic, every sort you can imagine. Albus’ speculation was only just that, speculation, and certainly Albus has no personal experience with the matter in order to actually know. Not that I’m reading HP fic anymore, but back when I was active in the fandom, I wouldn’t read or would drop fics which made Tom incapable of love. My least-favorite way of handling villains, tbh. He is interesting to me if he can love, has loved, and makes the choices that he does regardless.

Brainstorming child units for some 3 Houses characters

I really enjoyed making child units for "Engage" characters, so I wanted to do the same for "3 Houses." These kids would be available as the game is now, though I like to imagine they live in a "golden route" world where the wars didn't result in the death of any of the students (Edelgard included). And I should clarify: in my universe, these children could be the oldest in their family; it's possible that their parents had more kids afterwards (besides the possible kids they can have via different pairings). And just because I didn't list a character here doesn't mean they don't have kids; I just listed a few people here. And this goes without saying, but these characters descriptions are reliant on the fact that the child units are not related to each other, otherwise they'd obviously be different.

Artiya, child of Byleth. Given Byleth's own mysterious childhood that still remains shrouded in mystery, they make sure to always keep their child Artiya close at hand, just as Jeralt did with them. Of course, they're grateful that Artiya happens to have a bit more emotion to them--though to Byleth's chagrin, this makes it easy for their opponents to manipulate them. As such, Byleth has decided to keep their child's ancestry a secret--though Seteth, Rheya, and Flayn are always close at hand, as their family.

Blue Lions

Albus, son of Dimitri. Despite making peace with his own demons, Dimitri's precocious son Albus was quick to read his mind, and just like his father, shouldered the burdens of his family, vowing to always protect them. Thankfully, Albus lacks Dimitri's killer instinct, but has regrettably inherited his bad dancing, making him easily flustered at social gatherings, and will frequently ask Matilda for assistance, and Dedue is more than happy to embarass himself if it means protecting Albus and Dimitri's honor.

Lonato, son of Ashe. When Lonato was born, Ashe knew immediately that he wanted to name him after the man who cared for him so deeply. As the new head of House Gaspard, he was expected to teach Lonato about the mannerisms of being a ruler, though Lonato--much to Ashe's pleasure--was more concerned about sincerity than charm, and vowed to become a knight and leader worthy of his father's legacy. Rumor has it that an archer in Faerghus looks identical to Lonato, and they occasionally swap lives out of Lonato's altruism and the archer's natural eloquence.

Felicity, daughter of Felix. Unlike her father, who has his own history with Dimitri, Felicity is quite proud to be the friend of Albus. It was mentioned once that when they sparred, they were like bolts of lightning in the sky--and that Felicity outmatched him and the prince developed an interest in magic instead of physical weapons. Ever the tactful one, she kept the prince's interest a secret and helped him to hone his craft in every physical weapon known to man. This inspired her to become a teacher herself, aiding youths in the kingdom who couldn't afford a formal education in the field of combat.

Johanna, daughter of Sylvain. Extremely beautiful, she was the exact opposite of her father in virtually every other way: she was studious, had chaste romances, and was more awkward than charming. Worried that she'd be raised to be seen as a bride-to-be similar to his own childhood, Sylvain taught her a great deal about self-worth and understanding that love should be earned, not bought with titles or prestige. Johanna took this to heart, being a sweet and kind friend to all those who needed it.

Black Eagles

Gisila, daughter of Edelgard. Raised as the heir to the empire, her life has been under strict supervision, whether she likes it or not. Despite Edelgard's best attempts to educate her about equality, Gisila's inborn talents and intelligence has made her believe all the more in a rigid hierarchy. She isn't afraid to use dirty tactics to reach her goals--namely manipulation, especially blackmail--but this isn't to say that she doesn't care about others. Those in the empire revere her as a goddess on earth, despite her mother's attempts to dissuade any future churches rising and becoming corrupt in the way she views Seiros.

Alaric, son of Hubert, is just as dangerous and sneaky as his father--only his social skills and deception are much better. He knows how to put a smile on your face before establishing the finishing blow, but unlike his father, has no issue letting the royal family do their own dirty work if they wish to. His upbringing revolves around the royals, and he has no problem with this, given that it brings him power and prestige. Ironically however, he has found himself to be a somewhat devout man, twisted as he may be, and has his own personal morals that he refuses to compromise.

Talia, daughter of Linhardt, is just as much a voracious reader (and insatiable sleeper) as her father, which has earned her the moniker "The Sleeping Scholar." However, she has mastered breathing techniques to make it difficult to tell when exactly she's asleep and when she's pretending. Just like her father, she desires an easy life and often tries to play neutral party--though this sometimes results in her having to be a double agent. Of course, in contrast to her father, she does have some feelings of respect for her house, though her power does more than enough as the next leader of House Hevring.

Wolfgang, son of Dorothea, is the most talented muscician in the realm. Trained expertly by Manuela and his mother, his voice has a siren-like quality, as well as having learned to play instrument he has been introduced to--though he has a fondness for the piano. He cares greatly for his image and prefers performing to studying, but despite his vapid first impression, he is shown to be quite capable and kind to others.

Orion, son of Petra, is a master of linguistics. Never truly forgiving Fodlan for having made his mother a political hostage in her youth, he generally stays in Brigid unless on a political mission. He doesn't have much to say, but know that he understands everything everyone else says!

Golden Deer

Matilda, daughter of Claude, is strangely even-tempered--most of the time. While she often conducts herself with grace and ease befitting her father, she does carry some of his troublesome traits. When she really gets in the mood, she carries out wild and seemingly self-destructive plans that risk a great deal. Even her father is worried by her recklessness. Of course, her schemes always turn out for the best, and she doesn't do them often, so most everyone lets them slide.

Gaston, son of Hilda, is the most handsome brute you'll ever find. However, he's a rose with sharp thorns; he'll only surround himself with those he views beneficial to his station, often trying to seduce nobles of higher rank than him. He doesn't have too many friends, but those who he chooses to befriend will have his undying loyalty--unless you come between him and his shallow goals, of course.

Helena, daughter of Lysithea, is...a disappointment. In contrast to her prodigy of a mother, Helena is completely average in her studies. Lysithea believes it's because she refuses to apply herself, but Helena always manages to divert her attention by having the servants make her something sweet--or cooking it herself. Hmm, perhaps Helena is exceptional, just in a different field than anyone could've foreseen.

Luther, son of Marianne, is just as quiet as his mother, albeit not as pessimistic. He's taken to the Church, having found solace in their divine teachings, and is a delight to be around. His softspoken voice makes him easy to approach, and as most don't know about his crest they feel comfortable being around him. He's noted as a great and wise friend, though some wish he was more outgoing.

Lorelai, daughter of Lorenz, the most fashionable woman in the realm. Inheriting her father's flair for the dramatic, she is seldom seen without a rose in her hair, similar to the rose he keeps clsoe to his chest. She always flaunts her status (though usually without malice), and embraces the hierarchy in Fodlan, though she often speaks out about the cruelty to those of a lower status. She and Gaston get along quite well.

3 Hopes

Dianthus, child of Shez, is about as different from their parent as you may expect. They abhorr their parent's mercenary past and are a stickler for the rules, leading to a strain in their relationship. However, due to Shez's protectiveness over them and Dianthus's compassion for others keeps them together. They place their comrades' safety at the priority, and has a somewhat naive look on life, putting them somewhat at odds with the world leaders.

Lemme know what you think! At some point, I'll probably add an Ashen Wolf child unit or two, or perhaps another member of the 3 main houses.

HP Rec Fest - Day 1

I'm starting late, and I certainly won't be able to keep up, but I want to add some of my recs to the mix because I love the idea of this fest so much. So just to get started:I

@hprecfest - Theme: A favorite fic under 5k

Flip by snarkyscorp, 544 words, Snarry. Explicit.

Their second time was bittersweet, soured whiskey on Harry's breath and a look in Snape's eye that could bring down buildings.

My shortest rec, a compression of Snarry dynamics into five intense erotic encounters. There's anger, cruelty, dubious consent, passion, and apology before they reach an understanding. I love fics that can do so much within such a small compass.

2. i stop somewhere waiting for you by zillah37, 2773 words, Snarry-ish. Death fic.

"Harry?" Severus's words were slurred and he seemed to be concentrating on nothing, "Harry, why are you wearing the red robe?"

Hermione closed her eyes tightly. Right after she administered the potions, Severus would ramble on for awhile before falling asleep. She couldn't make herself leave when it happened.

It was the only link she still had to Harry.

This is a moving look at the complicated forms of compassion in the aftermath of Voldemort's defeat - one in which Harry died. Snape, curse-damaged and wracked with grief, has come to Ron and Hermione's house to live out his last days. It you want your heart wrung, read this.

3. The Boy Who Lived by Delphi, 3521 words, background Snape/Dumbledore. Mature.

Someday, perhaps, he will find himself holding a photograph, and he will peer down at the flickery image of a man with a pinched mouth and tired lines around his eyes, a man who was not really so tall or so fearsome, and he will think: 'He was only thirty-eight.'

But not today. Not yet.

Okay, full disclosure, this fic was written for me, but even if it hadn't been, I would still consider it a work of art. It packs so much insight and character development into a tightly woven fabric, a fable composed of poetic analogy and clear-eyed judgment. The portraits in miniature of Severus, Albus, and Harry touch something essential in each of them (although some readers might take issue with this version of Dumbledore), and it shows Harry maturing through the desperate need to understand. The last lines, in which this knowledge is embraced, and why, still make me tear up.

4. Lover Boy at Play by @danpuff-ao3, 4448 words, Snarry. Explicit.

Potter is a virgin, to be fair, but Severus isn’t a fair man and the sex is still bad, virgin or not.

Here's a wonderfully smutty fic, and believe me when I say Danni knows how to write hot, rough, emotional sex. It's set during Harry's school years, and Snape's obsession with the obnoxious brat plays out in a crude erotic power struggle Harry's determined to win. But he's just as obsessed, and by the end, I'd say he has the upper hand. I'd also say they both win. What started as snarling passion and possessiveness goes so deep it stirs more vulnerable organs as well. (Snape just won't admit it yet.) Bonus kink: Parseltongue! (Locked to AO3)

5. Life's not made of gold by hapaxlegomena, 5007 words, Snape/Harry. Explicit. (Yes, I know this exceeds the word count limit, but only by eight words! Let me cheat!)

He felt pleasantly loose by the time Snape stopped pretending to read his potions journal and came to sit beside him on the sofa. He sat close to him, much closer than he had been to Harry since letting him into the house; but Harry wasn't alarmed. It wasn't frightening, once you knew what he was after.

In the mood for a creepy, sensual fic that leans into Snape's perversity and the feeling of wrongness usually associated with underage fic? Only here, Harry's an adult. The elusive atmosphere builds at a leisurely pace, and one of the strangest things about it is the way Harry's complicit. He gives himself over to Snape in a scene of dreamy, dubious consent, but he doesn't need to. He seeks it out. And of course they don't talk about it. The fic vibrates along the erotic strands between Snape's longing for Lily and whatever it is he's doing with Harry; and raises the question of why Harry keeps coming back for more. (Locked to AO3)

I'm back >:) with a fun question this time.

If BW were to take place in the planet of Manas(where MotH takes place), what class of magic would each of the main cast get? Like necromancer, wizard, etc.

And what about if MotH were to take in New Tenesse? Which class would each one get?

Hmm...this is quite difficult to do without breaking too much canon, but I'll try my best.

Albus wouldn't have been ousted as someone to be hated or despised. That being said, he'd definitely become some sort of soldier. Maybe a warrior of Fusfeimyol, most likely specializing in offensive boosting enchantments and other battle spells. Fighting, not to survive, but for the thrill solely. He'd be a Battlemage.

Devlin wouldn't be designing weapons. I actually think he'd let his creativity shine in the way it wants and become a toy maker. Technically, still an artificer, just in a more fantastical and in a profession he enjoys much more.

Faith would become a school teacher in the impoverished nations like Fusfeimyol. She'd probably run into Albus at some point. Actually that's pretty cute now that I think about it lol! The Gladiator and the School Teacher. Adorable.

Now, let's move to the MotH cast! This was a bit trickier so I wrote out their stories in this world.

Zed would be considered weak by most standards for Paladins. However, his heritage would anoint him a great deal of prestige. In this AU where the MotH characters are swapped with BW characters, I would say that Zed would be a son of the Paladin King. But not just any Paladin King, a king who would be assassinated, most likely by the Triad, and force Zed to escape into hiding. If the Triad were to ever catch him, he'd be killed, or worse...this makes Zed a nomadic warrior with no clan or family to call his own. Constantly running, or else he'll suffer the same fate as the rest of his family.

Raze would probably have completely different powers. She might not even be a star captain considering the relationship between New Tennessee and the Landstar. Raze would most likely be one of the founding Paladins, or at least one of their children. She could be a Sister Paladin, or a Knight Sargent, until meeting Magreos. Together they'd most likely try to start a clan and succeed actually. Magreos would be able to vent his violent tendencies in combat as a sort of sharp relief, however that could spell bad news for their relationship moving forward...

Makkaro would be a Knight for sure. While he is smart, he's not technically minded. No, instead he is on the side of justice and fighting for honor and truth. Makkaro, being as smart as he is however, would make him a target for the Triad to be watchful. They like keeping their fighters dumb. They don't think, they kill. Makkaro doing both is a dangerous combination. Even more so when Makkaro inevitably picks up reading when he falls in love with the Paladin King's daughter (Gienne), resulting in him getting captured by the Triad who scramble his mind and make him black out all of it, before sending him back to his family under the guise that he suffered some form of demonic attack and physical trauma which developed in the form of Amnesia. From that point on, Makkaro would be afraid to do any more fighting, in fear of what might happen.

Gienne, as I said would be the Paladin Kings daughter. She might actually be inducted into the Triad, given her position and intelligence, but I think Makkaro would make her see passed that. This of course would lead to Triad interference again, where they would make her hate Makkaro and want nothing to do with such a sniveling coward who can't pick up a sword and doesn't even remember her. After that, she'd be sent back to her blissfully happy life as a princess.

Sorry for how long this all was! You may have noticed how depressing the lives of the MotH characters are on New Tennessee. Surprise surprise, it's not a happy world lol While a lot of clans do enjoy the thrill of hunting monsters and being blissfully ignorant of those in power behind the scenes manipulating everyone, characters with as much importance and personality as these would typically get screwed over. And fast too.

I don't think anyone will ever understand how obsessed I am with Harry Potter Next Gen in my head.

Like I do not consider Cursed Child canon, and there's very few things about it that I actually like (aka: Draco being a good dad, the dynamic between Albus&Scorpius, that's it). But I have been developing an entire next gen world in my head since I was 12 years old. I know these characters inside and out- my version of them anyway.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE consuming content about them by other people, even if it doesn't match up with my personal hcs.

Part of me wishes we could organize this fandom like the marauders, where everything is fanon, but agreed upon. But at the same time, I have zero desire to let go of all of the personalities, dynamics, extra characters, and hcs I have created in my head and idk how the two can co-exist.
