*The Cassarian sketch is specifically in reference to a post-series spin-off that she and I have been writing together for some time now, which I might post more about in the future, we'll see.

It's been so long since I've attempted to draw most of these characters... My favorite thing in this entire set ended up being that Mateo, because I have not drawn him very much and I was fully anticipating him to come out looking so much worse than he did, LOL. (Side note: please forgive the missing hands, these were not meant to be finished pieces, just some relatively "quick" sketches)

im trying to articulate how heart-wrenching it is that jesse gets punished for being vulnerable and open all the way through the series but i think it’s best encapsulated by the fact that hank forces jesse to film a confession tape where jesse has to relive the trauma of shooting gale and todd killing drew sharp, crying and in clear mental anguish the entire time, and that experience accomplishes literally nothing in the end. the tape doesn’t protect him or get anyone responsible convicted or punished. hank still doesn’t see him as anything more than a resource, a disposable junkie, even as jesse’s sitting on his couch sobbing. the neo-nazis find the tape and sit around literally mocking this footage after they enslave jesse, laughing at his display of emotion. he’s constantly exploited and punished for being open about his feelings. i guess that’s why its so effective and beautiful that jesse doesn’t ever let this stop him from continuing to show emotion. why it feels so cathartic when he sobs and screams as he speeds away from the compound: they didn’t take that part of him away from him. he was laughed at, tortured, used as a bargaining chip, but he still cries and shows his cards and is a messy, emotional human all the way to the very end. they could’ve ended el camino with the shot of him driving into alaska with that kind of peaceful, but not super emotive expression, but they didn’t. they ended with him looking over and imagining jane with him. one final show of his love and emotions and how it has caused him suffering and pain, but didn’t ever break him.

And it had worked, somehow. He had never even dared to think about picking up a pair of scissors. Vitali let a single scream leave his lips as he threw the scissors down into the sink, gripping the edge tightly again as he nearly lost his balance. He was out of breath; shaky, shallow inhales providing him with just enough oxygen to not pass out, and he slowly looked back up at his reflection. And in that split second of realization, he regretted it. All of it. A sudden clarity washed over him and his sobs faltered, deafening silence washing over the bathroom as he carefully brushed his now neck-length hair out of his face. I still stand by the draft ramble I posted about how scum villain's characters are remarkably easy to love and incredibly beginner-friendly especially if you're new to xianxia/wuxia content! Sqq's narration is essentially like he's one of your Tumblr mutuals who's been in a hyperfixation for way too long that he knows everything and can't help but explain it in excruciating detail every time he gets the chance

The parallels and differences between these intimate moments of two separate parties speak volumes about the relationship (and timing) of Elizabeth/Anne and Darcy/Wentworth. Darcy and Elizabeth hold each other’s gaze for one brief, electrifying moment, while Anne and Wentworth can’t even bear the agony of looking each other in the eye. One holds the promise of a beginning between two strangers, while the other is amidst a sea of torment and repressed longing between estranged lovers.

Episode 3 of Dead Boy Detectives is the best one yet. The murder is absolutely brutal, but it's tightly plotted and has so many great character moments throughout.

This is the most attached to Charles I've felt so far. He's currently furthest down my list of favourites out of the main cast, but his performance was really moving this episode. I also loved how it highlighted his relationships both with Crystal and Edwin, and the jealousy that Edwin feels there. Interesting that that jealousy seems to go both ways, too, with Charles being the last to leave Edwin and Monty alone at the end.

Edwin and Charles are unlikely friends in a lot of ways, but I do buy it, especially when he occasionally makes Edwin smile. Here, Edwin is confronted with the fact that he actually doesn't know many of the deeper parts of Charles' life, and that he maybe hasn't shared all of his own. Really nicely done.

Edwin's sexuality crisis continues to be really compelling. I actually adore his dynamic with Monty. I know he's literally a plant by Esther, but their tiny interactions so far have so much chemistry. I also have Thoughts on why Edwin is more open to him than the Cat King, and it's the plausible deniability of it all. The Cat King was extremely upfront about what he wanted from Edwin, and Edwin could not quite bring himself to admit he even understood what that was. Whereas with Monty he's able to retreat behind his protests that "he is a boy and I am a boy, if anything he just enjoys ghosts".

Also! Crsytal and Edwin are becoming friends!!! Crystal's my second favourite character and I'm so happy they're warming up to each other. Edwin is such a spiky character but I love him and want everyone else to love him. On that note, him being understanding to Niko about her trauma also made me very happy. Edwin is not budging as my favourite character!

Small things:

Esther continues to have the best, most over the top performance. Perfect, no notes.

Niko yaoi enjoyer and general weirdo, I love her so much <3
