ok im unexpectedly sleepy but i keep seeing seperated aus for rottmnt and heres who i think should go to who based on the best possible outcomes for all children involved, the angst starts after they meet alright? anywho:
first up donnie, idk why we like to torture him with draxum WHEN HIS FATHER IS RIGHT THERE. yes i know science/alchemist combo hed be unstoppable but
a) his dad thinks hes the funniest
b) donnie really craves attention from splinter already in canon, you can play with splinter being more intentive with his son but not showing it in a way that donnie clocks
c) i think splinter was very overwhelmed with having four sons all the sudden on top of himself being mutated hed probably be able to handle the stress better and therefore provide in ways he was tried but ultimately failed in
d) i dont think the lair without donnie would exist the way it does in canon
e) friendship with april (since its implied or at least has been so fancanonized that those two were friends first)
raph, clearly cassandra or the foot clan. not much explanation other than hed be really fiercely trained, yet i can see him realistically retain all of his canon cuddlieness. theres an ongoing fight between him and the paper origami method, he respects it but stuffies for life man. also i think him and cassandra deserve to be besties <3
mikey i think obviously matches up with draxum.
a) as in canon and other shows, hes actually more skilled than everyone else so im gonna say its gonna be tough for him but hed see through draxum's training with ease
b) hes itty bitty and could and already has melted draxums heart+he was co-raised by the gargoles. he is a master of steering draxum down the right path. except maybe that path may be a cooler path, not a righteous path. mikey reminds me of my sister and i think my sister would be the one to end up on some kind of watch list
c) master of emotions, could see him getting his brothers back together. enough said
leo's a little harder. everyone puts him under big mama but i think hed honestly be really miserable underneath her. i dont think shed be a good mom at all, which is why i recommend señor hue-SIKE CAPITÁN PIEL
a) in canon leo is actually kinda sus in the morality department. he cut warren in half on instinct and then immediately claim it was because he was on his head, definitely aimed for the kill on draxum, etc. he would totally be fine being a pirate
b)connection to señor hueso thats not immediately direct, i think it better he makes the bone man warm up to him.
c) knows everything about everyone on a side of the yokai world that you wouldn't get from stationary big mama yet also keeps him outta sight of draxum.
d) leo in a pirate shirt honestly, i just really liked his outfit
e) would fit with his dramatics

i wanna do a long morrowind video analysis because i think a lot of the current ones are very lacking. don't get me wrong, i am the brand of autism that likes hearing someone talk for 8+ hours recounting various plot elements and summaries beat by beat in a piece of media. it's one of my favorite things to watch, actually. but i feel like that isn't really getting into the meat of morrowind.
anyone can write a detailed plot breakdown and synopsis of a video game questline. anyone can do that for every questline in the game. anyone can do that and say "this is good writing. you just heard me talk about it and think it sounds good. therefore, morrowind is a good game". you can even do that with fallout 3 and i think you'd be missing that all of the plot elements dont necessarily tie in together well, or why they should tie in together to make the story more cohesive. you can ignore logical faults and claim its a good story. the analysis is also very surface level and lacks any depth. someone can say "well i dont like chosen one narratives. therefore i think morrowind is cliche and bad based on your explanation".
it also just lacks anything personal in the analysis. i don't learn anything from whoever is giving it like what kind of narrative pieces they like and why. what backgrounds they have. all i've learned is that they did tasks in a game and found doing those tasks rewarding.
morrowind is a game with lots of complex world building, obscure references, and connections to much larger, real life things. things like religion, politics, the nature of war, and psychology. it's filled with morally grey people and morally grey situations that you the player are forced to be an active participant in and forced to think about and question. the morrowind analyses that are so common are like if someone signalis without really touching on the king in yellow, just mentioning offhandedly that it's a real life story, and then moving on.
however. i am not very good at narrative analysis. i haven't taken an english class in 11 years or so. im good at character studies and smaller analysis, but i feel like i can't really do large narrative deep dives and pick it all apart. i really want someone with a better grasp of those concepts to do that instead because i have no clue how to do it myself.
maybe i'll just do character analyses instead

ive been thinking a lot about free will as of late, as philosophy is one of my special interests, and though i usually come at it from a strictly deterministic perspective, ive considered a possibility that free will may be an emergent quality of the brain and consciousness.
famously, decartes said "i think therefore i am", which points to the objective existence of consciousness at least in the self, and while we have no cogent explanation for consciousness that im aware of, i argue that it is an emergent quality of the brain, and so free will may as well be as well.
i do find myself attached to a non-free will worldview still though; many people dismiss anti-free will arguments as problematic, as they argue that it trivialises ethical descision making, but this is precisely why i embrace it: if we belive that people are not morally responsible for immoral actions, we are more likely to treat them with dignity; if people's harmful actions are the result of their environment, not libertarian free will, we should be more invested in improving their environment than punishing them.
i have more to say most likely, but i dont want to make this post too long. i would be delighted to share in some discourse on this topic, as it fascinates me

Hello everyone! I am Hazelyn Baggay, 17 years old born and raised in Pinukpuk, Kalinga. I came from the bountiful harvest of the north, province of Kalinga. I am a jolly person and friendly person. But I am also quiet especially around strangers and people that Im not close with. I honestly, is not a talented student, dancing, drawing, singing Id say I am alien to all but one thing is I know for sure about myself and it is to learn and willing to work hard just to have those talents. I am small in height but big in size. Yes, I am fat but it is not a problem for me because I know that I have the power to change my physical features. I can change myself but unfortunately, I am lazy with exercising and I really eat a lot. I believe my strength is my attitude, and I like to take up challenges and think to accept both success and failure in balance way to move forward. I want to say I dont leave any questions altogether as I believe in myself and my work. On the other hand I also have my weaknesses which includes being away from my family. Honestly I easily feels homesick whenever I am away from my siblings and parents. My short-term goal is to finish all my academic activities given to me and just live life happily and stress free. As for my long term goal, is to be a medical technologist and a successful business woman in the future. Therefore, I always challenge myself to improve and steady growth. I always want to move out of my comfort zone because I know that it is where I can find my strengths that I have never encountered before. I love to watch how I progress and move through my journey. My moral is never to intend to harm anyone on purpose. I believe there is nothing more painful than the feeling of being hurt. I know how it feels because I often feel it whenever someone shouts or scolds me. My dad has anger issues so, he often cant controls his emotions consequently, he tells words that are sometimes offensive which hurts me all the time. As I have experienced it I dont want anyone to feel as how I always feel so it became my moral. Furthermore, my motto in life is “YOU CANT LET YOUR FAILURES DEFINE YOU, LET YOUR FAILURES TEACH YOU”. This is how I manage my mistakes and failures in life. Whenever I make mistakes or things that I regret I dont think about it hardly, instead I take it as a life lesson so that in next time or the future I will be able to use as a basis on how I should act or work. Because I believe that if you are just stuck with your failures you wont make any progress in life, as a famous Filipino adage says “All people makes mistakes”. It conveys a message that it is normal for a person to make mistakes, and with those mistakes it is normal to regret things or to blame yourself but always think that you need to move, stop caging yourself into something that will not make you someone better? Right? Forget the mistakes and move on but dont forget to not repeat your mistakes again. I will run this online blog geared towards the explanation and showcase of my experiences inside the SPUP. It will be platform where I will share my life as Paulinian. It is a stepping stone for me to emphasize what are the things and decisions inside a senior high school student’s mind and point of view.
Where do i see myself 10 years from now? Was my learning in SPUP vital to where I'm leading to?
-We are all studying in order to fulfill our dreams and as for me 10 years from now i can see myself as a registered medical technologist. I believe that i can reach it although it wouldn't be easy i willl take the challenge and work hard to reach my goals. My journey will be hard and, now as i start a new chapter of my life i can feel how heavy and lonely is the path to success. But as long as i have God and my family with me it will not be a lonely and sad journey. Instead of complaining how bigare the problems, i will look at the beautiful saide of it and will not think about it hardly in order for me to attain the dream job that i have always wanted. Furthermore as i juggle to reach my dreams my school will be my foundation for it gives the learning s and kniwledges that i will be needing in my future life. Yes, my learnings in SPUP will play a vital role on the place that i am leading to. Although it wasn't that long since i started to enter SPUP i observed that it doesn't just nurture students to academically competent but also to be culturaly responsible human being. Even for a little bit of time on SPUP i learned a lot especially on my etiuqettes and proper attidtudes which will be very big help on my future life. So in conclusion, i know surely that my school will give me a lot of learnings that will make me into what i have always wanted to be.
Was STEM the best choice after all?
-Yes, STEM is still the best choice for me. Although it is hard , i know that it is the best strand to help me get ready on my future course. The term STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)focuses in invoking 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, cultural awareness, collaboration and problem-solving which i think will be a great introduction on my future coarse. With all its impresive and advance learnings on technologies, sciences and mathematics it will be a great start for me on my journey on beconing as medical technologist. STEM empowers critical thinking skills which include conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, and evaluating information through observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication. As such, students will be encouraged to answer questions or solve problems not based on memorization but based on actively engaging with the material to understand the issue at hand and solve it using logic. These kinds of situations better reflect what is expected in my workplace – experiencing situations like this early in my education will better prepare them for my future.
What course will you take in college and why?
- I will be taking medical technology as my course in college. I am taking it because i love it, i love seeing things and substances tha are not visible in the naked eye. It is super interesting to encounter small living organisms and learn about how they are formed or how they can be differentiated. Also, this course is what my mom had always wanted to be if they were finacially stable before. But as my mom can afford to send me in a university that can offer thus course shr wants me to persie it and fulfill her dreams. My mom didn't forced me honestly, this course is what i also wanted even on my elementary days. Lastly, i chose the course because i want to help people with illnesses and help to mitigate or kill the deseases inside their bodies. Also to help on stoping dangerous deseases on spreading and killing the mankind. And as a normal human being i chose it because the monty payment on this job is good and i think it will be able to support me and my parents in the future.

one of the arguments I hate is the lgbt rep defense where people try to go but there is a lack of lgbt rep if you are against bb or say it shouldnt have happened you are a homophobe bs. also the implications we are calling bb forced because of the genders involved comes off as projection since I have seen them claim blacksun was forced on the viewers going there are plenty of possible same sex ships they should do one of those instead. the lgbt rep card isnt a valid shield from criticism.   good writing is the most important part for shipping and the chemistry involved caring about the lgbt community or being part of it doesnt mean you have to ship a same sex ship over a het ship in ship war it doesnt mean you have to support a same sex ship like bb  being teased when you feel it was badly written.  I have seen people go there are plenty of shows with het ship canon ( as if we only liked blacksun over bb because it was a het ship  we arent mad that the het ship didnt happen we are mad that years of buildup were thrown away for a ship that just had popularity . blacksun shippers have more reason to be upset then bb shippers would if say they hadn't thrown away the years of buildup for blacksun and  had a scene where blake goes I love you you are like a sister to me  or another scene which emphasized that blake and yang were just friends.
something I was citing :
I think my initial disdain for the way Sun and Neptune are written came from how sick and tired I am of straight ships being forced on the audience when lots of us are in the lgbta community. Part of it was because my gay ships were sinking I’ll admit but honestly I’m just sick of forced straight ships especially in one of the only shows with enough well written female characters to /actually/ have believable gay ships. I don’t think I hate Sun and Neptune but I do hate how forced the ships are.
I think this is all the explanation needed(and all you need to dismiss people trying to take moral superiority over liking Bumblebee). Something the toxic side of the fandom loves to do is project and project hard. They cannot understand why someone would not think like them or like the things they do unless there’s something wrong with them or they contextualize it through what they themselves would do.And that’s one of them accidentally explaining how that relates to Bumblebee: wasps like it because it’s a gay ship. They thought Black Sun was forced/bad because it was not a gay ship. Therefore, since everyone must either think like them or be defective, clearly you think Bumblebee is forced because it’s not a straight ship. You don’t like it because it’s gay.“
basically they are just calling blacksun forced because it was a straight ship if sun was a girl they wouldnt make that claim so I cant take anytime I hear someone try to pull the you would ship bb if it was a m/f pairing  or wouldnt be calling it forced if it was a m/f pairing for if sun was a woman and yang a man they wouldnt be shipping bb and would call bb forced
if whether you ship  a ship or not  is determined by genders involved  like say if two ships were paired against the other and what causes you to ship one over the other  the pairing  is genders involved  it is a shallow reason   representation isnt more important then good writing
to the person that there were enough female characters for beliavable gay ships blacksun being canon wouldnt have taken away that possibility there are plenty of possible same sex ships like white rose or freezerburn or heck elderburn (the w/w ships  dont need to stick to relationships inside the team
team rwby dont have to all get into relationships with each other just because arkos and renora were things   just because team jnpr a team with an even split with males and females being partner ended up ship teased doesnt mean white rose and bb had to be things   there is nothing wrong with the idea that say yang ends up in a relationship outside of the team with a chick
heck say in the possibility that they all end up in het ships  there is nothing wrong with that  promising lgbt rep doesnt say that team rwby will be lgbt ( I still remember arryn referring to blake as the straight friend  which adds to my statement )
and no the fact that the song include yellow beauty and black the beast isnt evidence besides the fact the  songs  as crwby stated arent meaningful to show ( paraphrased)
they outright stated that they werent looking to replicate the stories there are multiple people who can fit the role of yellow beauty
look at  adam he referenced the beast but ended up being an antagonist relationship
you can say  bb as a platonic relationship
with blacksun fitting the beauty and the beast ( for sun helped with blakes development which is what the beauty did for the beast )
and blake  showed actual romantic interest in sun while she didnt show it to yang ( and yang didnt show romantic interest in blake sorry but winking at blake isnt flirty  yang asking for a dance isnt romantic coded ( not helped by how we only saw a piece of it before  sun takes the dance which yang had no problem with )
adam going  I will destroy everything you loves  includes friends and family  yang then appeared he saw her reaction then went starting with her  for she was nearby. that isnt evidence of romance also there was no reason for sun to lose the arm but there was plenty for yang ( getting injured isnt ship tease)
blacksun got years of teasing , mutual attraction and development
( undoubtedly if sun was a woman and yang a man the people who shipped bb just because of lgbt rep would be mad and say it was queerbaiting they would be angrier than blacksun shippers were
blacksun got actual teasing it actually could be called queerbaiting in the above scenario unlike the situation where if bb didnt become canon ( for claims of queerbaiting would just be people who shipped a popular ship  and saw evidence where there was none misusing it  just because a ship is popular doesnt  mean it has actual evidence bb was just popular in the fandom because it involved 2 hot girls there was a reason why appeal to popularity is a fallacy there is a reason those people got angry at sun because blacksun was given so much while  bb hasnt gotten anything   the only way they could find anything is by wearing shipping goggles and twisting facts
)
to be treated equally to het ships means that same sex ships are just as open to criticism for bad writing.   you can care about/be part of  lgbt community
and still call out bad writing when it comes to a same sex ship and say that it shouldnt have happened.
its not like there wont be other chances for a same sex ship  in other shows ( reference to what  I saw someone said to korrasami shipper in an argument )
it really doesnt matter that there arent many shows with canon same sex ship  good writing is more important then that if a ship is forced/bad writing they deserve criticism like the last minute retcon korrasami which required korra to be ooc in the last two min and was something bryke only thought of when the finale was being made  ( korra and asami are incompatible ) and the narrative pointed to show ending with korra single with a hint to makorra getting back together  given they had overcame the flaws that led to the b2 breakup ( and figured out proper conflict resolution arguing is not the problem it was handling of it ) neither of them were ready for  a relationship  with anyone.    korra and asami were barely friends they barely interacted  (censorship explains a lack of say a kiss etc not lack of interactions in general ) asami showed in remembrances she couldnt support korra the way she needed to while mako showed he could when facing zaheer.
asami showed she was the one most likely to just view her as the avatar  ( which was korras  problem ) while tenzin proceeded to help korra by talking about her growth as a person while mako got a speech about what korra meant to him and how she inspired him a talk about korra the person .
or direction change bb
people can be against bb and korrasami while still being lgbt  / non homophobic/ supportive with the idea of lgbt rep. just because you support lgbt community/ arent homophobic doesnt mean you have to be okay with every same sex ship
its not like people supported every het ship

i feel like theres this thing where like, some marginalized group has the incorrect position on something (like, women being more likely to be anti-vaxx and anti-nuclear, or like, early on POC had higher vaccine hesitancy altho it seems like thats been significantly reduced now, nice) where people give some explanation in which this isnt the marginalized group's "fault", and is instead the result of opression or whatever, and its like, its not WRONG but i think its...missing something?
the thing is, those arguments apply no WORSE to relatively privileged people who are incorrect, but it feels like the framing is that when privileged people are wrong thats a moral failing on their part, but we dont want to say that about marginalized people, so we're careful about sympathetically tracing some theorized cause of the wrongness. and it just feels like this weird mental gymnastics to maintain an inconsistent viewpoint.
like...you can either say "being incorrect about important issues is a moral failing, and therefore marginalized people who believe in anti-science nonsnese are doing something morally wrong" or you can say "being incorrect is a result of your specific life path, and its something we (the correct) should aim to fix, but it isnt like, a moral failing, there but for the grace of god go i", but its transparently silly to say one for one group and one for another

I realy like your analysis on the kaito-maki-shuichi relationship. So i was wondering who in your opinion has the best relationship dynamic within the cast?
Aaaa thanks! I'm more or less pleased with how it came out :D probably could be shorter though haha
-tech
As for the best dynamic... hmm.
Judging based on what I mentioned in the previous post about strengths being highlighted and weaknesses being dealt with in one way or another and believable emotional bonds that help each other, I'd have to say...
Kokichi and Gonta
For sure, it's gotta be them.
Narratively:
They are canonly a dynamic duo, working together and using their different strengths to help one another in areas the other is lacking in. It feels like they can both truly shine when they cooperate, and that's exactly how it should be.
It's very nice to see them work together because they both bring something different to the table that truly helps the other, and not always in ways you would expect at first glance. The brain and brawn thing is expected, but the extent to which they compliment each other is unparalleled by any other dynamic in the game.
Kokichi -> Gonta
Admittedly, Kokichi does less for Gonta narratively than Gonta does for Kokichi, but to be fair I would expect someone like Kokichi to be the one others help shine, not the other way around. Kokichi, as the Ultimate Leader, is more like the protagonist while Gonta is the supporting character.
For the most part though, Kokichi's narrative role relating to Gonta is to show us that Gonta isn't the happy-go-lucky himbo the rest of the cast thinks he is, allowing us to see that Gonta has depth, specifically that Gonta's morals are definitely different than what one would normally expect from someone with his personality.
The rest is something that relates more to their emotional bond, but for now I'll just say that Kokichi allows us to see Gonta's insecurities, flaws, and dedication to his friends (both the cast and Kokichi) and this improves Gonta's character immensely.
Gonta -> Kokichi
Gonta, as a character, shows us just how human Kokichi can be, especially during chapter 4 but also in little moments throughout the game as well. Whether it be lashing out at the others, being soft (like, so, so soft) with Gonta, his cooperation skills, or the depths of his sadness and loyalty, Gonta drags these reactions out of Kokichi one by one like it's his job, which it is! Narratively, Gonta's job is to allow us to see glimpses of what goes on in Kokichi's heart, something incredibly rare and precious to me.
Gonta also really allows Kokichi's ability to strategize and lead people to shine. Like, really shine. Chapter 4 was the best showcase of Kokichi's talent of leading people, but that's because he had Gonta following him. Any captain needs a crew and any Ultimate Leader needs helpful and supportive followers that believe in him. This goes alongside Kokichi's major weakness throughout the game.
Kokichi's biggest weakness is that he's placed himself into an antagonistic position. Seems smart, until you realize that hes the Ultimate Leader and he just alienated himself from literally everyone, losing any potential bonds/followers he could have made. He shot himself in the foot by forsaking some leadership options when he's the Ultimate Leader. It's the thing he's best at, but he put limits on himself anyway to protect everyone from Monokuma's attempts to break them apart.
He can still get the group to do what he wants, but it takes a considerable amount of effort on his behalf in order to do so. Gonta makes up for that by being the follower that Kokichi desperately needs. Gonta believes in Kokichi enough to go along with both of his plans, to the extent that he still goes along with them even they involve kidnapping and killing the other characters.
There's also the fact that Gonta's dedication to the others might've helped Kokichi decide to keep helping everyone, but I'll get more into that in a bit.
Emotionally:
This dynamic also makes a lot of sense from an emotional perspective. You can actually see why these two outcast characters would want to come together and hang out with each other, and why they view the other so positively: they are each other's ideals.
Kokichi -> Gonta
When Gonta needed a friend and someone to take him seriously/not dismiss him, Kokichi was there to hang out with him, seriously listen to him, and explain things to him that he didn't get the first time. Where the other kids were scared of him due to his size and talent, Kokichi had the confidence to ignore Gonta's natural intimidation and the kindness to hang out with Gonta, despite being so scared of bugs he literally foams at the mouth when they touch him.
Kokichi still regarded Gonta as a friend after that incident though, when most people (justifiably) would've held a grudge and cut him off. Gonta has some very obvious rage issues and reacts pretty impulsively to the things that upset him, but Kokichi is very patient with others, and almost forgiving to a fault at times, so he's willing to stick with Gonta and try and work through their problems instead of abandoning him. This would no doubt be something that Gonta desperately wanted from a friend, seeing as he's very self conscious about appearing as scary.
He loyally sticks by Gonta and readily offers advice, support, explanations, patience, etc... I mean the list goes on. I really do think that his relationship with Gonta is a showcase of how Kokichi would act around someone he really likes, like I'm talking about this being the basis for how I think Kokichi would act around DICE levels of emotional intimacy. I think this is Kokichi at his best, friendship wise. Especially because even during events that take place outside of the main story we never see Kokichi act this way around anyone else, even with the people I would also consider to be his friends (mainly Miu, but also sorta with Kiibo as well.)
They didn't know each other for long, but if you really look at it, it's plain to see that Kokichi really valued Gonta as a friend. I mean, I dont think someone who yells about wanting to live during his FTEs with Kaede would willingly offer to give his life for (no discernable goal) for just anyone y'know? Plus, throughout the game, he uses some of his friendliest and softest sprites during his conversations with Gonta. Even visually you can see their bond.
It's a very subtle relationship when compared to some of the more overt pairs throughout the game (aside from some key moments in chapter 4) but it's there, and honestly I can think of very few characters that share this close of a bond in the whole series game.
They actually kinda seem similar to Aoi and Sakura in a way, but somehow they compliment each other more... damn.
Gonta -> Kokichi
Likewise, Gonta also became Kokichi's friend and didn't seem to mind the lying at all, something that means a lot to Kokichi based on his Harmonious Heart Events, because it means that Gonta doesn't want to be friends with someone different, he wants Kokichi, lies and all. This is Kokichi's #1 wish.
I think that meant more to Kokichi than anything else, because this is his way of life. He leads with lies, he plays with lies, and he protects himself with lies too. He wants to keep lying and Gonta not being bothered by that is literally the exact thing that Kokichi yearns for in the best ending for his HHE.
Gonta also caught on to the times that Kokichi was extending olive branches and accepted him. It's subtle, but Kokichi did try and befriend people as long as he could do it without having to change himself and Gonta was one of the people that responded to that positively. Gonta readily befriended Kokichi, probably understanding first-hand what it's like to be an outcast because of misunderstandings and personality traits.
This is why Gonta's death (especially since Kokichi felt like he was fully responsible for it, despite what Gonta said) was so traumatic for Kokichi and why he reacts so negatively to it, he lost someone he never thought he would ever meet in the first place. More than a few of his dialogue lines have him imply that he's used to being hated for how he chooses to live his life and that he expects this kind of treatment from people, so finally finding someone who won't hate him for that and then losing that friend so quickly with his own plan had to have hurt immensely.
Going off that, Gonta is the one to convince Kokichi to remain friends with everyone and try his best for them despite how they treat him, and he also desperately begs for the others to do the same thing for Kokichi. He knew he was leaving Kokichi alone, and he wanted to try and protect him.
While the other members of the cast don't seem to remember this or care much about it after the whole "I'm the mastermind" bit, we do see Kokichi trying to protect the group after chapter 4 by trying getting rid of the motive to leave (therefore "ending" the killing game by making sure no one plays it) and by trying to remove Kaito, who has shown himself to be a harmful influence.
I think Gonta's words really got through to Kokichi, and while it did unfortunately lead to Kokichi dying for everyone's sake, Kokichi might not have tried to save everyone if it hadn't been for Gonta's last wishes. Why would Kokichi want to help people that actively hate him and bully him if not for the pleading of his greatest friend in the game telling him to keep protecting them.
In a sense, Kokichi during chapter 5 fulfills Gonta's original wish to be useful and protect everyone even at the cost of himself, with Kokichi doing exactly that.
Interested?
If you asked me for moments that I feel showcase their bond nicely so you can get a feel of it for yourself, I'd point you towards the dialogue they share during the 4th trial investigation and their meeting before the Insect Meet and Greet was very nice (you'll have to read between the lines for the former though!) If you want to see what I'm talking about, I would definitely recommend rewatching those. The moments prior to Gonta's execution are also always a good look at how much they meant to each other.
If you're really interested, I'd also recommend watching through their bonus content (LHEs, FTEs, HHEs, etc) and thinking about how their desires are reflected in each other, it's interesting to think about at the very least.
TL;DR?
Overall, they have an amazing, yet unsung, dynamic between the two of them and I would like to see more people recognize it. It's very brief and doesn't have a lot of story time, but it feels more meaningful than any of the "main" dynamics in the game with 10x the screentime. It has substance to it. It's satisfying and gratifying to watch.
It also makes fucking sense, unlike a particular dynamic that takes up a majority of the fucking story for nOTHING–

Sight defects are notorious in the 'close-knit' communities.
Each insists on hair decoration, but it's almost part of their heads, which you can call bad animation or deformity resulting from too much intermarriage.
Momma's 'thing' just resembles lumps.
It's them space ticks at it again.
Tumblr media
Even the hedgehog is round in this house, which may imply he's an illegitimate offspring of one of 'em.
What about inbreeding suggests practitioners won't stoop to even greater infamy?
Stufful's dad never arrived did he?
Funny that, and a bachelor like Oakie-Dokie residing nearby knew nothing about it.
All that bathing in Cuprenol does terrible things to a man.
Tumblr media
Ever wondered what'd go down in the marriage of Tweedledum and Tweedledee? Well here you are, yer deviant.
A pair of pudding-faced, gormless Cabbage Patch Dolls, each with snouts, black button eyes and glandular issues, and they don't share DNA even when they do?
Tumblr media
Oh yes, Lusamine met a total stranger also possessing her lime pies and effusive mane of unruly, ice-blonde slats.
Total coincidence there.
He came to Alola, he says. On a prison ship.
Tumblr media
It's just one head in triplicate!
Oversized an' all: sure sign of genetic tomfoolery.
Dot Nose, Bridge Nose, Fish Eye: bloody serious case we have on our hands.
Now you understand why she failed to remarry: no other brothers cuts yer options ter nil.
Incest is of course, relative.
Whatever dæmon they worship, some are more pious about it than their fellow perverts.
The more dedicated the believer, the greater insistence on keeping things running in the family.
They'll show off their interwoven connections to the neighbours in a smug game of one-upmanship.
The more lapsed follower will tolerate copulation with distant kin.
These sinners are naturally despised and forced into menial labour, whereas the fanatics just so happen to be rolling in wealth.
Consider:
• Lana's family get by on a fisherman's salary, apparently.
Yeah, yeah, as if the state doesn't have to subsidise their medical bills.
• Sophocles don't go hungry, he has a lab, a giant hamster wheel, a portable hologram in a Pikachu, and he's so rich he not only had the roof fixed, but can move down the road in the meantime.
Oi! The rest of us get by putting a bucket under the leak!
• Lillie has every material possession possible, but no spine or company.
Oh the irony that top sickos should be so resistant to the lure of family obligation.
Hey, yer didn't say that earlier!
• Lusamine is fawned upon for her pwehshush research to the extent she can abandon her children, turning her daughter into a nervous wreck and her son a moody, absent drifter, and it's up to them to understand her work comes first.
• Mohn (by name and nature) fannied about with worm holes until he got sucked off by another dimension.
What did yer think would happen?
Yet on his return, is he knocked on his arse as he deserves?
No, because of incest privileges. The in-group take care of their own, and worse.
Tumblr media
Mallow's mater and pater both share hair, thick brows and close-together peepers of murky green.
The contrast in noses suggests something lesser than siblings, but then again other differing aspects are forgivable.
She is of a lighter pallor, being dead, and wanting an open coffin, had a shave beforehand, which is a frightening nod to morality.
Woman, are you ashamed of our love?
Well Abe went along with it, thus is also culpable of this grotesque bristle denial.
Being unclean, he's gotta cook the dinner.
Tumblr media
And this lot milk the cows.
On the surface, Kiawe's old 'uns aren't identical. You might think some heretical decency has finally sneaked in under the oppressive Alola regime, but it ain't that simple.
These people pray to a volcano as if an earthbound deity, so are nutters.
One aspect you must remember:
Tumblr media
Ol' Granpappy the Island Kakuna, i.e. a dried-up chrysalis.
Tumblr media
'Cause Pappy got Momma's tufts...
Tumblr media
And Dadda's humourless mouth, oblong head, straight-line nose, rectangular eyes and pin pupils.
Well that's not how it's s'posed to go!
I'm thinking Granpappy, as one of them there Kakunas, is in a position of power high enough that he's able to wilfully flaut the laws he imposes on others, like how popes had kids in the Good Old Days and no one took a blind bit o' notice.
He's a rebel I tells yer.
He don't play by the rules.
No sister-wife for him.
Not when he's got a sexy cousin a-waitin'.
A little bit of new blood's crept in, disgracefully so, that's why the whole lot's punished by living near an active volcano.
Surrender 'em to the flames!
Kiawe makes such a big deal about Pappy, and sod the other three grandparents.
Except he only had two!
What is the explanation?
1. Bone-idle writing team.
Character design is foundational stuff. If yer can't even be arsed to do that properly, nothing you do is worthwhile.
I mean, come on, repeating the same model that blatantly?
Halfwits so limited in imagination shouldn't be working in any creative industries.
I blame modern diets.
A whole generation's grown up timid and risk averse because they were taught to fear E. numbers as kids.
I make it a rule to suspect any sod unaware of the joy of a blue tongue.
They've never lived, man!
Where did you think it'll end when dangerous, pretend edibles like houmous, avocados and quinoa replace the wholesome, nourishing fare of biscuits, cake and crisps?
Stop toying with the fundamental principles of the universe!
The mess of the modern era screams systematic abuse of too much kale and not enough sugar.
2. Incest
Alola is extremely insular.
It's implied to be a tourist destination, but no amount of degenerate outside influence appears to have diluted the weird customs it still upholds.
They didn't even think of starting a League until Ash turned up with all his wild exoticism, and why's that?
A. Inbreeding has destroyed their capability for innovation.
B. Many thousands of years ago, Alola got well annoyed its dirty habits weren't exactly catching on as it strove to spread the Satanic message.
Thoroughly confounded in its plans for world conquest, Alola shut itself off in a purification ritual, which is why later developments popular  elsewhere, such as replacing beasts of burden with machines, never caught on.
3. Alola isn't Hawaii, it's a combination of Australia, a penal colony, and Crete, where lived the lepers.
Specifically it's a dumping ground for all the regions' sex offenders to keep their own societies clean.
Of course, the guilty took their nearest and dearest along too, since they were on the receiving end, and loved it.
This explains the large amount of foreign Pokémon, since the owners are also from abroad.
Now I think 'anging's too good for 'em, but these wet-willy countries insist on storing up trouble for themselves, for if cinema has taught us anything, it is that mutants will always escape.
Nature finds a way, however abominable.
Since so many on Tumblr simply love Alola, they aren't about to admit the slightest weakness in the creators' abilities.
Therefore, incest is the acceptable answer to all and sundry.

for the ask meme (TES, obvs): 3,9, 13 (for naemon), 23!
thank you!! i wrote this all last night and i havent checked for coherency or errors so forgive me if it’s a bit scatterbrained at times (although yall should be used to incoherency coming from me ghhgfg.)
____
3.) Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
someone said that they didn’t like serana and i was already sitting on the decision to unfollow them for other reasons and that. that was just the Final Straw.
but i think that’s it…? im so petty + impulsive (deadly combo) at times that maybe i did unfollow over a TES opinion another time but i can’t remember hgufuhfhxdfh
____
9.) Most disliked character(s)? Why?
OOF this is a hard one, ill list the ones that come to mind rn;
molag bal. needs no explanation
darren guitar or whatever his name is. im sorry to anyone who likes him but i just.. can’t. he’s so obnoxious. he was toned down in summerset, probably because different people were writing him if i had to guess but in the main and daggerfall covenant questline? awful. his goddamn womanizing jokes at every second of the day was “kim, there’s people that are dying” at its finest.literally one or two “haha ladies amirite fellow man ;)/haha ladies amirite……… lady ;)” jokes can be.. bearable albeit still annoying but there was so much more than that. or they were so obnoxiously written that it seemed to be more frequent than in actuality, either way, darren guitar? 0/10also my view of him hasnt gotten better since someone sent me a rude ask about how darren had more personality than prince naemon in-game due to me joking about how i don’t like him and then subsequently blocked me for being irritated about the rudeness of the ask + the fact that im 99% sure they were the anon that appeared in my fucking inbox defending darren guitar every single time i breathed a single word about him
i completely forgot he existed until you listed him as disliked and now i hate him even more. that fucking. bard from the bannered mare. the one that harassed carlotta until you told him to fuck off. i hate that dude. always have
abnur tharn. mildly obnoxious with some amusing lines until you find out what he did to queen ayrenn like. small dick mannimarco joke is now renounced, little man. Perish.my view on Estre is Complicated because she’s a really neat character and villain and ranks as a favorite in the latter department but from like, a moral standpoint i loathe her.also while it wasn’t like. pelidil levels of shittiness i’m not fond of how she hurt naemon– but then again……. now that i think of it, i really don’t know what’d she COULD do other than keep him in the absolute dark until he inevitably gets caught up in the Shitshow otherwise. i wouldn’t suppose naemon to be 100% willing to join in her efforts or even keep completely quiet about them if she did decide to talk to him about it or let him know; and for all we know, she could’ve planned to do so eventually in some way– but the suddenness of the AD hero’s infiltration of the veiled heritance probably ruined any semblance of a plan she could’ve had. so on second thought, even from a “naemon is a perfect being and i will protect him with my life and loathe all who hurt him” standpoint, i don’t dislike her too much. let’s just reduce estre to like.. honorable mentions on my “disliked characters” list then lmao(also “moral standpoint” as if queen ayrenn is anything close to the pinnacle of absolute morality. estre is objectively worse on that front, though, so i suppose i still stand by that)
speaking of which i really… don’t like pelidil. again, moral standpoint. and “naemon is a perfect being and i will protect him with my life and loathe all who hurt him” standpoint. otherwise, he’s a neat villain and the quest in which you cut him down was one of the more impressive quests in the game IMO, or even in the entire game series. good build-up.
this is getting too long so i’ll cut it there, that’s all the characters that come to mind rn anyways hfhgdhg
____
10.) Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
hmmmmmm
i guess if you view it in such a way, liking him is kind of unpopular– while there’s still a lot of those who even if not actively talking about him as a character, have praised his character/took his side/whatever, there’s also a good amount who don’t. not really in considering him a poorly written character, but rather from a (sorry to bring this phrase up so much so far) moral standpoint.
also, considering him in a semi-unironic “he did nothing wrong” way, which i do, is kind of unpopular– and i can understand that, in some ways. i dont think him snapping at the scene of the orrery was under his 100% control nor was anything subsequent, but there’s still the fact that he still is in an “i deserve the throne, fuck off” mindset in coldharbour, which, unless he’s STILL affected by the mantle and/or the orrery, is obviously a negative change in viewpoint compared to the “i’ll swallow my bitterness and remain loyal to my sister and the dominion, she is the rightful queen and i am just her shadow” you saw prior.
granted, i’d argue that even then, you have to consider the influence that pelidil had over him prior (as some have accurately put it before– whispered poison into his ear). especially with the fact that naemon’s quite young for an elf at… 26? around that age-range. i dont think altmer’s minds work in the way that, say, hobbits do, in that they age slower and this includes their mental capability, decision-making, etc.. (they obviously don’t) BUT, compared to an elf with more experience, there’s a bit of an… imbalance there. pelidil WAS the one who served naemon instead of the other way around so you’d figure the opposite if anything, but again, naemon = impressionable and emotionally vulnerable at the time.
anyways, got off-topic; my point was that naemon, when you consider the influence that pelidil and any other secretly heritance people that interacted with him, even when you use the fact that he still seems “corrupted” in coldharbour to frame him as bad… that ain’t it. there’s also the fact that he is being tortured, at that moment. big part of it. he PROBABLY isn’t in the right state of mind, to put it simply. but then again, i mean, one could still argue a whole “cool motive, still murder” take on it, so whatever. i dont know man ghfghduhbdfg
YIKES i rambled, holy shit. sorry. but otherwise, i dont think i have too many? there’s not much in the prince naemon…. sub-fandom, at least not enough to be able to render one opinion as unpopular compared to the next
(and i. Guess that headcanoning him as trans definitely has the potential to be unpopular. but i dont really talk about it or “enforce” it much other than off-hand comments that might imply such, drawing him with top surgery scars, etc.. so it hasn’t exactly been given any room to be considered remotely unpopular. haven’t gotten anon hate, snide comments, etc.. about any of it at all so it’s cool. but i’ve brought it up because… you know how fandoms are; if there was more to the prince naemon “fandom”, theoretically, it would be and therefore kind of IS an unpopular opinion. “does your arm hurt from reaching cassius” ok look, i just felt like i needed to provide one more unpopular opinion about naemon and i couldn’t figure out any other than that. but yes. yes, hurts a little)
____
23.) Unpopular character you love?
unpopular as in commonly disliked, or unpopular in… amount of people that like them? with the latter, it’s def naemon. i love him with all my heart gfigufhgdugdfh but then again who didn’t know that
with the former… hm. the thing is a lot of characters disliked in this fandom are disliked with good reason IMO– nevermind. almalexia. not to open any #diskhorse wounds but almalexia’s one of them ghdfhguhg jot that down
and i’ve heard some talk that veya is kind of unpopular, what with the recent summerset developments? yeah, fuck that, veya’s one of my favorites. this fandom (or. any fandom lets be real) has an awful tendency to praise any goddamn male character’s flaws or “negative” depth as redeemable character complexity and something that can be looked past, and yet, you see even REMOTELY the same amount if not more character depth in a female character and they’re hated. pointing this out is nothing new but it’s truly just…. something to behold.
and on that note im just going to renounce my prior statement of “a lot of characters disliked in this fandom are disliked with good reason” that’s the dumbest shit i’ve ever said. or perhaps an addendum stating that it’s only applicable to male characters is more in order? or that it’s the opposite for male characters: liked with bad reason. or… liked with over-exaggerated reason disproportionate to the actual amount of depth, complexity, and/or likeability said character actually has, paired with hatred for female characters with the same amount of complexity. “bruh don’t you obsess over prince naemon–” Yeah And What the Fuck Of It
anyways moving on sorry i got distracted hgdfgyfgh. that’s all the characters that come to mind? disregarding characters that are unpopular in an unappreciated sort of way rather than a disliked way, i really dont have a lot

yeah so because of recent events and all regarding sh/adam here comes this:
This is my last post on this topic.
Either way I tag them as #discourse from now on. I know I am personally very uncomfortable with discourse generally and this blog is dedicated to my art and I actually wanted to actively avoid any discourse. But this is a topic that hits closer to home I need to vent it out.
But mt opinion, long story short is: I pretty much despise Adam because he expected Shiro to choose Adam over his own happiness and so far hasnt done anything to redeem himself. Explanation under the cut.
So, as I mentioned in previous posts: fuck Adam. I'm not gonna dip any deeper into how I think Shiro deserves someone who will be able and happy to unconditionally support him and how I think that person is Keith and how much I love Sheith because of it. I'm not even gonna mention what Shiro deserves or Keith after this.
So, I watched episode 1 of the upcoming season and finally i feel better making a post about Adam now.
In the end, though, it didnt change anything on my previous opinion.
Adam's decision of not waiting for Shiro and leaving him because of the Kerberos mission and because he simply didnt have the mental energy to seeing someone he loves deeply suffer, is selfish but understandable. And there's nothing wrong in being selfish. Although even if obviously the stress people who have disabled beloved ones is nothing compared to what the disabled person has to go through, it doesnt change the fact that it's still stressful and everyone, whether disabled or not, has to decide for themselves what is best for their mental stability and health and if they want to put themselves through such stress or cant. Deciding that you cant doesnt make you evil. Wanting your loved ones to be safe and alive and well isn't wrong.
Still I cant go all "I love Adam!!!" and "he did nothing wrong!!" not because I'd be prioritizing Shiro anyway, but because of Adam's ultimatum and how Adam saw one option as the right and one as the wring one.
"Takashi, how important am I to you?". That's what Adam said. I dont remember how exactly Adam phrased it but after that he outright told Shiro that Shiro would have to choose between having Adam in his life or the Kerberos mission. Between someone who Shiro loved and wanted to be with for the rest of his life or a dream he obviously had devoted his whole life to, the dream of his life. Between Adam or winning the fight against his disability by not going down without a fight. Because we know that there was no hope for Shiro no matter how much he rests and all Shiro could do was decide what to do with his remaining time. (I have an idea of what Shiro's disease is, and if it is then I have some experience with it, which makes it all the more personal to me and makes me all the more angry at Adam and anyone who sides with him.)
And I know some people are okay with giving up their dreams or ambitions to be with their loved ones. Shiro obviously isnt that person though.
Shiro was disabled. Shiro knew it was a miracle he had come this far anyway despite his disease (Adam did say Shiro already broke all sorts of records) and he wanted to go further. He didnt want to stop already. To Shiro it probably felt like giving up to his illness if he had stopped. As a disabled person giving up to your illness is the ultimate defeat. Personally, I'd much rather die. Adam KNEW how much value the Kerberos mission had, that this is the last chance Shiro would get. Yes, it was a life-threatening mission, but Shiro would rather die than give up to his disability, or so it seems to me.
Think about what a miserable life that would be to Shiro. Think about how depressing that would be. Adam would rather see Shiro alive but miserable with no real chance of recovery than what? Dead? No, because no one would want Shiro as a pilot if they thought he wouldnt make it back alive enough and able enough to safely pilot them back. They wouldnt even have considered him, but obviously they did. So Adam would rather have Shiro in regret and miserable surrender for his last few years before the disability kicks in full than achieving his ambitions and being happy and proud. And all because of being selfish? All because ADAM didnt wanna be alone? I would get it if Adam's concern would be that Shiro wouldnt pilot them all back safely, but that obviously isnt Adam's real concern here if he starts iff1 with "Takashi how important am I to you?".
That's what rubs me so wrong with Adam, that's why I really hate him, to be honest. I'm not saying he's evil or a person you should hate and demonise. Adam is just human. But honestly? What does it tell me about you if you absolutely adore Adam after thats all we get from him and you think he did nothing wrong in wanting Shiro to give up his ambitions for him? What does it tell me about you that you'd want Shiro to come back to earth to Adam, who gave up on Shiro? That you'd want Shiro to regret leaving Adam, regret not giving up on himself? If you dont think Adam needs to apologise and redeem himself, if you think Shiro is in the one in the wrong-
If it weren't for the ultimatum, I wouldnt hate Adam. If Adam had just said he couldnt bear seeing Shiro suffer then I would let Adam go like that. If Adam had said he thought the mission is too risky and he couldnt bear waiting for Shiro to come back, I wouldnt judge Adam. If we meet Adam again and he apologises for his outburst to Shiro and means it, Adam redeems himself in my eyes. I still wont like him and I still dont think he's deserving of Shiro. I still wont want them to be together because I think if Adam didnt have the strength to be with Shiro with his disability until the end, then how can Adam be sure to be able to be with Shiro now that he's scarred (both literally and figuratively) from a galactic war Adam hadnt been there to experience and therefore couldnt ever truly comprehend the consequences of?
Adam isnt truly evil for what he said. Evil is a much stronger word I reserve for truly evil people. Because people say bad things under stress, say things they dont mean or regret, voice their thoughts in a wrong way all the time. Or sometimes they mean what they say but think better later, realise their mistakes and make things right. Stress does that to you. But owning up to it is what counts. Owning up to the consequences, owning up to people not liking you for that anymore or leaving you or outright avoiding you and despising you, that's what makes you a good person.
You can tell me all you want how Shiro should think about how his actions make other people feel. That he should have considered Adam's feelings and think twice about the Kerberos mission. Amd I hope he did. If not that was wrong of him too. But we all have to make our choices and decide when to be selfish or not. When to prioritise ourselves over other people. When you have to leave people for the sake of ourselves. Being selfish all the time is obviously not a good way to go, but leaving your life completely up to others and only living for other people's sake and be miserable for it isnt either. If you're going to live to make others happy then do it only if it actually does make you happy, too. Shiro wouldnt have been if he had. He knee that. Or maybe he would have been anyway, but neither decision would have been wrong of him.
Shiro risking his life to achieve his ambitions was part of his fight against his disability. It was part of not giving up. Adam couldnt respect that. He disrespected Shiro's struggles not by leaving Shiro but by forcing Shiro to choose between him, or winning that fight. Thats why I think Adam did something extremely wrong. I hate Adam because I hate people who prioritize themselves over people's recovery and happiness, expect people to, and then have the nerve to not even regret it.
In retrospect it wasnt really Adam giving an ultimatum to Shiro that was wrong. It was Adam expecting Shiro to choose him and get angry at Shiro for choosing his own happiness over Adam's.
Again, if Adam regrets it and owns up to, apologises, then I will hate him less. I will still dislike him, but I wont think he's a bad person. But so far that's not what we got and until we see that I wont think Adam did.
So miss me with all your pro-Adam and Sh/adam or A/dashi posts. Miss me with all the "voltron better end with a reunion and a wedding between them!". It makes me truly uncomfortable to see it. Im not bashin on the pairing either, you can ship whatever you like. I dont think people who like Adam or want him to get together with Shiro again are bad people because of that. I dont think people who understand and not dislike Adam because of his actions are either. I wont hate on people if they dont understand why this is my opinion or simply didnt take the step of spending all that much thought on the morality and seriousness of it. But man am I uncomfortable with people who take Adam's side.

I've never asked anyone this because I feel like a total idiot for not knowing, and you talk about it a lot so I think I'll get a good explanation on it. What exactly is an anti? And a stan?
Dont worry you’re probably lucky and relatively drama free on here if you’re asking, and the term ‘anti’ has only been a widespread ‘thing’ with an actual reputation for like….a year or two really? a couple years ago i didn’t see many fights or obnoxious posts about this stuff tbh.
Thing is, an ‘anti’ really shouldn’t be considered a bad thing. if you ask one of them, they’ll say theyre against abuse, harmful sexual practices/kinks, power imbalances, pedophilia etc. and it’s like yeah! of course im against that!
But these days when you see me or most others complaining about ‘antis’ it’s because these people like to attack others for the fiction they’re into by cramming anything they don’t like into those categories. Those things are now buzzwords, that are steadily losing their impact and meaning because of how antis use them to condemn any fictional content they don’t approve of, and therefore they are blurring the definitions of those things, watering them down and making them less meaningful and easier to just ignore. for instance, if you ship a villain with a hero they may call it abuse, and so you’re an abuse apologist. yep. if you ship highschoolers together and you yourself are over 18 then you’re a pedophile. you write fic about them having sex then guess what you’re creating child porn. Even a significant age gap might cause them to call someone a pedophile holy shit, I’ve legit seen people seriously think that an age gap of, say, 10 to 15 years is gross in any circumstance (because omg the older one was 10 when the younger was born!!! aging up is unacceptable!!), no exceptions (which i take personal offense to along with scores of other people because i’ve BEEN IN a relationship like that and they were the best ones, fuck you if you’re going to judge that on a surface level when it’s none of your business and both people are over 18).
To a typical anti, ships or fiction with ‘dark’ elements or morally gray issues involved is bad, and you’re bad for being interested in it even on a fictional level (sometimes even if you’re coping for your own issues through it?), and you’re encouraging minors to think stuff like abuse and age gaps and such are ok in real life etc etc. Being interested in these circumstantially problematic topics in your fiction means, to them, you’re making it like it’s ok for predators to groom kids into harmful real life practices. you’re saying abusive relationships are romantic. You and your fictional explorations are changing reality into a dangerous environment for people who don’t yet know the difference between fiction and reality. There’s no nuance to it, no subjectivity to it, it’s bad, you’re bad. Your fiction should be WHOLESOME! You must ALWAYS constantly extrapolate and elaborate on what points are wrong and which aren’t, clearly and loudly, or else you’re EXCUSING AND NORMALIZING the bad parts!
It doesn’t matter how much you explain that fiction is fiction and that creating fiction does not mean you endorse the subject matter with abandon. And antis are the ones who can’t seem to see a difference between fiction and real life here. it doesn’t matter how much you tell them that an 18 or 19 year old dating a 17 or 16 year old does not mean pedophilia (holy shit, pedophilia is sexualizing PREPUBESCENT children how many ships do you actually see these days that legit involve a child??? And yet I have to see people being called pedophiles every day and being told they are predators because of their freakin run-of-the-mill ships, ALL of which involve people 15/16 and up??? S T O P).
Most significantly, it doesn’t seem to matter to antis that it’s fucking gross and unacceptable for them to harass and judge people over their fictional interests, or bc they are into bdsm/kink, or to be telling people to ‘go choke’ and die because of the fiction they like to explore. it doesn’t matter to them if you point out the common conflicts and dramatic elements and literary exploration used in fiction by pros, because storytelling is storytelling, and ask them why they’re not calling those authors out for such ‘harmful subject matter’ (example–i like to tell them to go attack GRRM for writing Game of Thrones, go bother the creators of Hannibal, go string up Stephen King if people aren’t supposed to enjoy and be interested in ‘dark’ elements in fiction, and explore the shadier sides of human nature in a safe and speculatory way. Please.)
FICTIONAL INTERESTS AND CREATIONS DO NOT MEAN YOU ENDORSE THE SUBJECT MATTER IN REAL LIFE WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. And my interests, as someone who has their own life and their own mind and their own agency, are not going to be dictated by some strangers on the internet telling me what I can or can’t be intrigued by because ‘minors might see it and think it’s ok in reality’. Antis can’t seem to comprehend what’s wrong with that thinking if their lives depended on it.
Anyways…….i’ve ranted enough lmao. As you can see I get real heated about it because it’s just ridiculous and I’m sick of seeing it. Oh, and a ‘stan’ is short for ‘stalker fan’. It’s used in both casual and accusatory ways for both fiction and irl. Casually is just you really love a certain character or celeb and probably will always love/follow them no matter what they do. In an accusatory sense, you might see antis calling someone a stan of a character just for still liking them even though theyre bad (i would be considered a Loki stan for instance….and it might be considered a bad thing, that is, if antis were consistent across the board for which bad guys are unacceptable lol. Funny, you don’t see anyone getting lambasted for liking/shipping/writing about certain villains that are considered ‘acceptable’?? i haven’t figured out exactly why antis target certain things and not others. Oh that’s right, because it doesn’t make any good sense and it’s personal with them and it’s a power move to feel morally superior, and antis are kinda like a hive-mind cult mentality, it’s seldom based on a logic you can apply across the board). ~

'Don't Believe a Word,' a Look at Language and Power (and Why Dolphins Have Accents) https://www-nytimes-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/01/01/books/review-dont-believe-word-david-shariatmadari.amp.html
Tumblr media
Personally, I'm always suspicious of linguists (I'm looking at you, Steven Pinker) who trumpet their aversion to so-called 'language snobs' or more specifically, the prescriptivists because I have a strong gut feeling that it represents more of their political stance (i.e. Liberal) than actual scientific research, albeit they would be the first ones to shove their scientific 'superiority' down everyone's throats and threaten to alienate as an outcast anyone who dares breathe out an objection to their groupthink. Besides, I have a theory that for all their pizazz, what these linguists really want is to pander to our lazy, self-entitled generation so as to make them malleable to certain leftist and atheistic weltanschauung (I will write about the explanation for this on another post), I mean, isn't that what college or university is for? I'm not saying that the prescriptivists are entirely correct, I do believe that language obviously evolves, as evidenced from the changes that English (to cite just one language) went through, but to think that internet slang is the epitome of language evolution rather than a trendy gobbledygook that I'm certain will eventually fade away into the annals of 21st century curiosities is downright stupid and dangerous. It teaches kids to be irresponsible about the language they use, which will ineluctably result in failure of communication and therefore the death of a healthy discourse between mankind. This is probably what they want in the first place, for come to think of it, if anything goes in language then the same could be said of life, no rules, and no respect for authority, a total annihilation of morals. If a person writes and speaks like somebody who's only got half a brain cell, then how can he effectively communicate his ideas to the world? Again, I think language comes in many forms and as the article briefly touched upon, as long as the communicators have context as to what they're talking about, then it does not matter whichever verbal calisthenics or even gibberish they make use of, BUT, I also think that language and grammar should be grounded on a solid foundation so as to leave no room for confusion and miscommunication. In other words, there is a reason for the existence of rules.
To conclude, my thesis is that we should be wary of the prevalent bastardization of language, lest it reflect the same careless disregard with which we handle the other aspects of our lives. When that happens, we become more susceptible to brainwashing, and if there's one thing about propaganda I know, is that the propagandist must make people feel good about themselves before he plants the seeds of his ideology so as to make the people more receptive. If people today are constantly applauded for breaking the rules of language, they will come to associate the feeling of being lauded with rebellion and who knows what other rules they shall break? Suddenly I remember the saying that goes, "they first ask for a finger, and before you know it they're demanding the whole arm" (translated from Filipino).
Therefore be careful of what you say (or write) and how you say (or write) it because as Heidegger puts it, language is the house of being, therefore our use (and misuse) of language gives us a clear picture of how we as a generation fare in the grand scheme of things.
"For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." -Matthew 12:34
Perhaps this downward spiral could get even worse, or perhaps I'm just a Luddite and we are actually at the acme of a linguistic revolution/evolution, which if true, is the worst.
Either way, it'll be interesting to see how language develops in the coming years. Will English "as she is spoke" survive further bastardizations, or will there come a time when it shall become totally incomprehensible so as to have someone say, "it's all Greek to me?" This happened with Old English, and will most likely happen again, but still it doesn't erode the fact that language, at the disposal of today's youth, is easily recognizable by its fixation on trifles (memes) as well as its haughty refusal to accomodate viewpoints that are different from what political correctness dictates.
There's really no circumventing it: let's call a spade a spade while we still can before this linguistic 'evolution' kills off everything sane and sacred.
