🕊My favorite room in my favorite style / We are in one of those rooms in Drottningholm Slott that connects virtually on the private wing of the current Kings: behind the Gustavian screen, in the lower floor, starts the apartments of Queen Silvia and King Karl XVI Gustav. The whole room was reupholstered in the third quarter of 20th century for the wedding of one of the sisters of the King, and had this elegant appearance. Here we find one of the treasures of the Castle, a bureau plat made by the famous cabinet maker Georg Haupt in 1770. This piece is considered one of the first representations of neoclassical style in Sweden and was gift to Queen Louise Ulrika from his husband. On this day 70 years ago, King George VI sadly passed away at the age of 56. Princess Elizabeth was then notified by her late husband Prince Philip of Kenya.

Queen Elizabeth was only 25 years old and was the mother of two children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Princess Anne was not even two years old at this time. Prince Charles was 3 years old.

We gather as a nation to celebrate the founding of Queens. We all come together from every country to celebrate Queen's 70th Anniversary 💜💜.

Hey! I’m trying to get into reading more for my New Years resolution and I thought I would just ask random blogs I follow. All the ones I see on the tag are like all the same?? I was trying to see some different ones :) thanks! 🕊

Oh that's a cool initiative !! I love reading and I actually had in the back of my mind this resolution to read more books (and less fanfics haha) this year too ! But anyway here goes :

Non French books I read in French :

- Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness (one of my fave trilogies ever, I will never shut up about it, if you read it get ready to get hurt)

- The Rest Of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness (yes again. I love Patrick ok. And this is just a small book, a “friendly satire of YA literature” as it is described on goodreads haha and its mostly about friendship and its just SO GOOD)

- His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman (my beloved <3)

- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin (yeah I know everyone has seen the show...... but the books are amazing and I love them....... waiting for book 6 for 9 years now has been agony)

- Under the Dome by Stephen King (it's my fave novel by King and idk what you think about King and I would have a lot to say about his work, positive and negative, but I still love it and I love horror and I love this one book in particular.... I also liked It (except for The Scene iykyk), The Long Walk and the first part of The Stand)

- Circe by Madeline Miller (also : The Song of Achilles. They're both great buuuut Circe is my favorite by a bit. You've probably heard about The Song of Achilles, Tumblr is big on this one haha)

- Malgré tout by Jordi Lafebre (it's a graphic novel and GOSH I'm in love with the artstyle - "malgré tout" would be translated to "despite everything" and it's just a lovely love story that we discover backwards, going from the end towards the beginning and GNNN just read it or just look at it because it’s beautiful)

French/Belgian/Quebecois books I don't know if they got translated in English (but I don't see why not + I hope so actually because they're so good) :

- Tobie Lolness by Timothée de Fombelle (it's so well written and poetic in French, I hope it translates well in English if you read it, but not only that, the story, the characters, the atmosphere, everything is just captivating so ! Can’t recommend it enough)

- King Kong Théorie by Virginie Despentes (an essay on man/woman relationships, prostitution (Despentes is a former pornstar), rape, etc, I think everone should read it at least once. Also, by the same author, you have the trilogy Vernon Subutex that I’m reading right now which is about a man in Paris becoming homeless and going from friend’s couch to friend’s couch, I’m at the third book and it’s great too !! A bit slow and confusing at the start but I devoured the second book and now I’m close to the big finale)

- La Passe Miroir by Christelle Dabos (I believe it's The Mirror Visitor in English : it's so well written in French, I don't know how it translates in English but anyway : there are four books, I'm at book 3 and it's soooo gooood, my fave is book 2 for the moment)

- Celle que... je ne suis pas by Vanyda ("The one... I'm not", a graphic novel, first book of a serie of 3 books, book 2 being Celle que... je voudrais être, "The one... I would like to be" and book 3 being Celle que... je suis, "The one... I am". I remember being obsessed with those when I was a teen. Will probably buy them one day, if not very soon bc now that I talk about it it's being too long since I read them haha)

- Stupeurs et Tremblements by Amélie Nothomb (she wrote A LOT of books and I read like a little dozen of them and this one is not necessarily her best but I don't know when I think of her I think of this one first. Her books are really easy to read and weird and uncomfortable but really engrossing. I can also recommend you : Hygiène de l'Assassin (her first book), Métaphysique des tubes, Les Catilinaires and Cosmétique de l'Ennemi)

- Les Nombrils by Delaf and Dubuc (”The Bellybuttons” - okay, if you check it you're going to think 'wth is that why would someone recommend it' and yeah okay EXCEPT it's fucking good ?? The first volumes are mostly one page stories and the main intrigue is really light BUT around book 4 the plot really picks up and starts to get more serious and gives more depth to the characters and ahhhh maybe its just the nostalgia talking and also the french part of me bc its actually really popular here but idk I still love it and I can't wait for the next volume)

- Culottées 1 & 2 by Penelope Bagieu (two graphic novels about more or less famous women who did whatever they wanted !! In English, it got translated into “Brazen” I believe ! Can’t recommend it enough)

There ! Don’t know what it’s worth (maybe you’ve already read everything haha) but that was fun to do (and a bit depressing too bc I realized I didn’t have much to recommend actually but yeah whatever I’m going to read more too :D) ! Thank you for the ask, hope at least one of these will grab your interest !
