This is me singing Green Finch and Linnet Bird from when I played Johanna in Sweeney Todd this past October! I feel fine posting the picture of myself from it since we had to perform in masks to comply with our venues rules lol
i was wondering what your thoughts on the apocryphal bible/gospels were? π
No clear answer for me yetβI am very interested in them, though, and studied some of them when I was reading The Women's Bible Commentary.
The Lutheran perspective on them is generally, in Luther's words, "These books are not held equal to the Sacred Scriptures, and yet are useful and good for reading.β (x)
For a variety of reasons, modern Protestants tend not to accept Septuagint as the inspired Hebrew Bible, and hold up four "criterion for canonicity:" apostolic origin, universal acceptance, liturgical use, and consistent messageβalthough some think this idea is silly.
I don't know enough about Biblical history to back up an opinion, and I don't think any human can judge whether something is inspired Scripture (or however you view the Bible). I didn't grow up reading them, but as I'm looking more into them, I think at the very least they're beautiful historical literature that can inspire our faith.
