Toothbrush Insect あれ？オレの歯ブラシってどこにいった？最近やたらと歯ブラシがなくなる。昨日の夜にはあったはずなのに、なぜか朝になるとなくなっている。この1ヶ月の間にもうすでに３本も歯ブラシがなくなった。ネズミか何かの仕業だろうか。どうしてなくなるのだろうか。その理由がやっとわかった。なんとオレが歯ブラシだと思っていたのは歯ブラシの形をした虫だったのだ。いつの間に歯ブラシが虫に変わっていたのだろうか。この虫は歯ブラシに寄生して虫に変身するらしく、どんな歯ブラシでもいいらしいのだ。とても変わった虫だ。この先歯ブラシは何本なくなるのだろうか。

It took three trips to photograph this stinky but absolutely amazing parasitic plant: Rhizanthes infanticida. It has a similar lifestyle as its cousin Rafflesia, in fact, they grow next to each other in this forest in West Sumatra.
