he is a very good friend. never a snitch. definitely would be loyal to a truly close, respected friend over any cause - just bc he’s too aware of everyone’s mortality... even that of causes. what matters in the interim is, well, what matters- & he does not actually believe he’ll outlive the cause. or that anything ever gets achieved. he’s just. in this life. shrugs.             it is what it is. he could definitely adapt to a peaceful life a lot more easily than some harbingers. while he has a lot of bloodlust, he’s just... balanced? temperate. his division between friend & foe is very clear & nuanced - & so is the overlap between them. he’s just... able to enjoy a quiet life.

he’s kind of boring, honestly? could fish for hours & would love to just fucking fall the hell asleep & wake up realising he missed every catch 10/10. ahh, the chill life...

"holy shit"

wriothesley raises an eyebrow as he flips through a few documents in bed, he looks your way with anticipation. he watches you blink at your phone, proceeding to look back up at him, then back to your phone in utter disbelief, eyes wide and mouth agape, he can't help but chuckle.

"i just got some email confirmation, of- hear this, three hundred, three hundred fucking dollars."

you say, shoving the phone in wriothesley's face. he squints at how your phone is set at a level of brightness that put even the gates of heaven to shame. he stays quiet as he barely skims through the email before shrugging.

"yea i know, i paid for it."

as he says so nonchalantly, he sees your face distort into that of pure horror. what does he mean by, he paid for it?

"you really don't remember?"

he laughs. the sound of his voice usually makes you feel various emotions, all dancing around the themes of love and passion, but now you would have to add straight terror to the list as your heart sinks to the depths of your stomach. his big hands let go of your phone, and make its way to cup our cheeks.

"when i picked you up last night, you were pissed drunk-"

he chuckles as he interupts himself. his thumbs caressing your plump and soft cheeks. you await him to continue, dreading to hear what ridiculous scheme you managed to come up with while drunk.

"and though i'm not sure where you got this idea from, you kept insisting that i wasn't spending enough money on myself-"

"no...."

you interupt, gasping as you realise where the conversation was headed. wriothesley smiles at your reaction. clearly he doesn't feel like the situation is that big of a deal and it leaves you baffled at the fact he seems to be taking it so lightly.

"i simply said i'd rather spend my money on you and i really don't think i've seen you look so excited in my life. we spent the evening browsing your wishlist, you certainly had some odd things saved might i add."

he laughs again so unphased, while you were absolutely destroyed and horrified by your actions you were visably shrinking under the covers.

you couldn't bare to look at him, face red and the feeling of guilt was so heavy, not to mention the embarrassment you felt. you were really going through it... once again his warm hands make its way under the sheets and snaked around your waist. there's a soft hum of your name and as relieved as you are that he doesn't seem angry at the three hundred over dollars missing from his bank account, you simple can't bring yourself to look him in the eyes as he joins you under the blanket.

"my my, aren't you cute."

he says in that awfully familiar tone, the one he uses when he knows he has an advantage over you. he looks at your flustered face, the same face that manages to tug at his heartstrings everytime he sees it. you mutter countless apologies and promises that you'll definetely pay him back, as you bury your head into your hands.

"hm? i'd much rather you didn't sweetie, no matter how much money you decided to milk out of me it'll never reach the extent of which, i love you."

bonus: you decide not to look through the list of items that drunk you had insisted on getting and throughout the next few weeks, you and wriothesley would find packages addressed to you on the doorstep. it feels sorta like christmas and you open it together, some items are so ridiculously niche and some even straight up useless. you both have no idea what to do with it but it does do a good job at making the both of you laugh. wriothesley's favourite is when a piece of clothing comes, obviously he asks you to model it for him, spinning you around and even going as far as whistling at you when it's something excessively skimpy.

It’s rare that the significant other of a popular Internet personality is as well liked as you, let alone your relationship in general. Assured that at least a few of Tenko’s audience will ask where you are at the beginning of the stream if you aren’t sitting next to him or atop his lap regardless of what he’s categorized his stream as. You love that they’re excited to see you both, how you interact with one another, that they’re interested in seeing at least a fraction of how you spend time together. Perhaps it’s a bit parasocial, you know, their desire to glean portions of your private life but you both do well on keeping what’s important private.

But you hate that his audience likes your joined reactions with their favorite streamer most when it involves anything to do with horror. Decaydaddy’s popularity amplified by his pure lack of reaction to horror games in any capacity. A lot of viewers found it easier to watch the gameplay that they couldn’t play themselves because he was so levelheaded and unbothered. The most they ever gleaned of his fright were simple raised eyebrows and a huff of breath at a jump-scare or two.

But you, oh you, poor thing, they get real alleviation to their terror from yours. Jolting, flinching, wincing, whimpering, covering your face, and heaven forbid you scream loudly enough he has to pet your hair.

And no matter how many games you watch him play you’re never desensitized to whatever they entail. You try, you do, you’ve gotten used to analog horror at the very least; only displaying mild discomfort in the form of hilarious grimacing but nothing more.

You can never say that about anything to do with the paranormal, however. And Tenko is kind not to subject you to it at all, he knows how badly it affects you and your wellbeing far outweighs the desires of faceless usernames on a screen or subscriber count.

But this game, Supernormal, you’d suggested it to him. Thoroughly surprising him over the fact as you moused over wishlisted games while curled in his lap before the stream started, raving about its usage of in game voice recognition as well as how there was a mystery about it. Assuring him it was nothing like Phasmophobia and or Demonologist.

Oh how you regret recommending it now as the gameplay only grows more perturbing.

“If she’s supposed to be helping you help her why the fuck does she keep doing creepy shit!!” Your own fingers covering your eyes because you really can’t deal with the fright anymore. The effect only worsened by how the lights are off in your own shared room.

No saving grace of the usual accent lights, purple or red depending on his mood or the genre of game he’d be playing. Nor the reprieving underglow Tenko had fastened to the baseboards of your bed frame for soft lighting.

“It isn’t a horror game if she doesn’t,” his voice still even while yours warbles. You don’t think you’ll cry but fuck maybe it would make you feel a little better? Like hell you will on stream though, Tenko has told you plenty about how weird people can be without going into too many details.

Details Touya has no problem telling you, however. Skin heating while he explained ‘you have no idea how many people will get off to a screenshot of your face with that precious little pout and that glassy look to your eyes’.

Yet still you can’t school your features well enough, not that Tenko really wanted you to either. But he does prefer for those moments to be saved for when you’re underneath him or when his nose is affectionately bumping against your clit just like you both like.

Pulled quickly from his wandering thoughts when you yelp again and Tenko’s hand comes off the mouse to grip at your hip comfortingly. Falling still in the game without pausing it as you turn your head away from another heart palpitation inducing scene.

Covering your own eyes after seeing the girl slamming her head into the light switch on the second floor. Tenko whispering imperceptibly, “you don’t have to watch, I can pause the stream for you.” You appreciate him for it, shaking your head before tucking into his throat in a way that you can still see the screen.

“I think she wants you to turn off all the lights, that’s the second time she’s touched a light switch,” and you’re correct, he moves about the ground floor first. Flicking off all of the lights until enveloped in complete darkness as you glance over at the rolling chat on his second monitor.

Use the mic, use the voice recognition, talk to it! And you relay the comments to him, knowing he’s too focused to glance over at chat like he often does while gaming.

Watching with rapt attention for the red mic icon to appear at the bottom left hand corner of his screen before you speak, “ask her the prompts, it’s picking up your mic right now ten.”

He responds with a hum, taking the time to rub your leg with the hand he takes off the keyboard as he opens the pause menu. Reviewing the prompts to ask because it won’t answer anything besides the specifically posed question.

“Three knocks for yes, two for no,” you say in unison, taking in a deep breath and fishing his hoodie below Tenkos desk as he breathes in evenly himself.

The first question he poses, “Are you friendly?” Calm, a ringing silence to you before hearing the two slow knocks follow. It actually makes you relax a bit. At least it’s friendly.

“Where are you,” a distant knock this time, against a windowpane instead of the sound of wood like the previous question.

“Show yourself,” your eyes flit nervously to the pulsing icon before the question Tenko had asked appears in subtitles at the bottom center of the screen.

“Look behind you,” feminine but also overlaid by the signature whisper of the same voice to appear vulnerable as well as a deep gravely male voice.

‘Please don’t turn around’ you whisper but Tenko doesn’t hear, he had no intention of turning either. The specter rushes him from the front, ghostly pale and covered in blood with sightless milky eyes in an instant before your scream rings out in the room. Jolting against Tenko who barely flinches.

He almost pauses the stream, almost cuts off completely when your breathing is more erratic than he’s comfortable with. Glancing to the side hoping you hadn’t moved your rescue inhaler but you calm yourself quickly. Peeking through your fingers that had flown to your face protectively, Tenko’s hand rubbing soothingly against your bare thigh, preparing to ask if you’re alright before you speak.

“Friendly my fucking ass.”

Its close to the holiday season so this is on my mind but it always baffles me when families say their children (whether adult or not) are "hard to get gifts for."

What do you mean theyre hard to get gifts for?

And it usually boils down to not that child being actually indecisive, the child probably knows what theyd like, but now that they no longer write santa letters families decide they need Different Stuff because theyre No Longer Baby.

And i know theres going to be people saying "we just give candy" or "we send each other wishlists" which is FAIR and healthy to do. Communication is a must!! But thats not what I mean. What I mean is families stop listening to the childs hobbies.

There are parents who see their children playing games and suddenly decide thats toxic and put a boundary that theyll never buy their child a game. Or anything to do with games. There are people who decide that a persons infatuation with soft toys or artistic dolls is immature so dont you dare participate in their collecting hobby. There are families who hear people say "this is my hobby" and decide that its cringe/immature/stupid/worthless/disgusting and ignore anything to do with it.

And of course... If the person doesnt match their assigned gender, then suddenly the family scrambles for what gifts theyre supposed to get for their afab niece that doesnt include jewellery or a perfume or a dress, or they still get it and the receiving party has to deal with the fact that their families last resort is gendered products- even if they dont identify as such. The family sees it as being picky and not knowing what they want, surely THEY know better.

And its. You know. After years or such treatment the child is simply going to start shrugging instead of actually saying what theyd like or what they had their eyes on. This 70 buck game couldve been a nice easy gift, but its not because the person has already bought it because they know no one else is willing to consider it a gift. Theyre not going to wish for a limited edition plush or figurine from their favourite series because its seen as cringe so they already bought it themselves too. Theyre not going to wish for a comic or manga or self published stories.

And then theyre silent and shrug. And the families relationships suffer too because theyve ignored every hobby this person has. The person that has been othered and considered weird and picky. The person whos hiding. Always hiding and masking.

Rather than showcasing them in the big rock anthemics that would come later in TXT’s journey, it’s the more seemingly subdued moments that sizzle here. “With resentment, my heart is heavy / ‘Cause you don’t understand me,” Beomgyu and Hueningkai murmur in the second verse, every ounce of that weight pouring through their words.

7. ‘Good Boy Gone Bad’ (2022)

On the lead track from 2022’s ‘minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’, TXT fully embrace the moment when it feels like you’ve hit an emotional rock bottom. Instead of wallowing in the misery, they make it their new super power – there’ll be no more “pathetic days” left on the calendar when you rise up with hearts “gone dead”. The concept of fate emerges on this sunkissed house jam, the beats forming a linking pattern between TXT and the person they believe is “meant to be”. ‘I’ll See You There Tomorrow’ is fresh and breezy, while its post-chorus refrain of “there’ll be no more sorrow, I’ll see you there tomorrow” could serve as a slogan for the comfort that spills out of the group’s catalogue.

2. ‘9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)’ (2019)

The title track of ‘The Dream Chapter: Magic’ more than lives up to the sorcery in the album’s title. Sprinkled with sparkling melodies that form the aural equivalent of the magic dust that accompanies wands casting spells in movies, the song captured the heart of much of TXT’s early storyline. It’s an ode to friendship and the feeling of finding people to run alongside you as you buckle up for the rollercoaster of life.

Tomorrow X Together have never been ones to shy away from trying something new, and that spirit quietly fuels ‘Eternally’, the stand-out track from ‘The Dream Chapter: Eternity’. What starts out as a gentle lullaby pleading soon morphs into something darker and prowling. The beat switch is tellingly signalled by a rapid-fire gunshot and the verse that follows feels like a villain origin story. That the group are able to pull off the revolving door of switch-ups on this track with such elegance is nothing short of impressively exhilarating.

you curse chicago and its cold winter weather, curse your lack of sweaters thick enough to brave a chicago winter because you've got an hour and a half before you need to leave for class and none of your (clean) sweaters are going to protect you from the cold, even if you wear a coat over any of them. you make a mental note to put warmer sweaters on your birthday and christmas wishlists. you peek out the window of your bedroom, watch the gently falling snow, let out a heated sigh.

when you turn your focus back to the open closet before you, your gaze falls on the many wool sweaters your girlfriend has accumulated through the years as a chicago native. you eye the many sweaters hanging in the closet, weighing your options, even though there's only one clear one.

"breakfast's up!" sydney calls from the kitchen. a couple seconds after, you can hear the sound of ceramic against laquered wood, punctuating her words.

still in your pajamas, you slip into the dining room. your plate is laden with a stack of fluffy pancakes and topped with your favorites; she doesn't even have to ask you what you want on them anymore, she has them memorized down to a t. you settle down into your chair, grinning when she passes by you and bends to press a quick kiss to your cheek.

"morning again," she says as she sits down across from you.

you return the greeting, picking up your fork and butterknife, digging into the meal she made for you. there's silence for a few moments as you savor the first couple of bites of breakfast before you glance out the window; hell, it looks like it's snowing harder or maybe you're just being overdramatic.

"do you know how long it's supposed to snow today?" you ask after swallowing a bite of your pancakes.

she shrugs, looking up at you. she's in the middle of chewing, so she raises her hand to cover her mouth before she answers through a mouthful of pancake with strawberries. "no, but it'll probably be going for a while."

you let out a sigh and nod, focusing your attention on your food. like a sixth sense, she sets her utensils down and stares at you, chewing and swallowing.

"come on. what's up?" she asks and you curse her too for knowing you so well.

"just…" you answer almost bashfully, refusing to meet her eyes. "can i borrow one of your sweaters?"

"i don't know. will i get it back this time?" syd's voice is light and airy with just a hint of playful mocking.

you know she's going to cave and say yes anyways because she's your girlfriend and she loves you, but still, you look up and give her your best puppy dog eyes and pout combo.

"of course," you say truthfully. "please? none of my sweaters are built for this kind of weather."

she starts laughing at your expression, a dorky little giggle that has her covering her eyes. "oh my god, knock it off. you're playing so dirty right now!"

you can't keep it up much longer either, joining in her laughter just a few moments later. syd waves it off, trying to catch her breath.

"you know you can borrow my clothes whenever you want," she states when she finally recovers. "you have your pick of them."

breakfast continues, the two of you chatting about things over the rest of your meals. when you've both cleared your plates, your girlfriend picks them up and takes them to the kitchen to get them in the dishwasher; she also heads in there with a vow to make you a quick lunch because you told her you had a busy day and no time to get your own lunch. you head to your shared bedroom to get dressed.

a few minutes later, syd meets you at the front door, holding a little lunch box. when she sees you, she smiles a little nervously and hands you the lunch bag.

"yeah… when you look this cute in my clothes, i don't know why you think i'd tell you no."

her words make your skin heat and you glance away, biting back a grin. "thanks."

the two of you share shy smiles and as you're getting ready to step out of the door, she stops you, cradling one of your cheeks to press a soft kiss to your lips.

"i'll see you when you get home," she says, her lips brushing yours as she speaks.

you nod, giving her a second quick little kiss before stepping away and waving before you close the door behind you. armed with one of her best sweaters and a lunch made specially for you, you feel like you can take on the world, which is often how syd makes you feel. it's not something you'd trade for anything else.

hmm,,, i have a coffee preference post here regarding stan and kyle, but here are some other hcs i have (:

Kenny:

he has a very diverse pallet. he likes just about any food you give him unless its like, boiled unseasoned potatoes, but he'll still eat it. not particularly picky, but he does have preference for spicier foods or anything with loud and/or complex flavor profiles. he loves flavor bombs!

Cartman:

sweets and savory all the way. hes a southern comfort food enjoyer and a fructose fiend. everything from fried chicken, shepards pie, and ham to ice cream, and blackberry cobbler is on his wishlist. hes mildly picky in that hes not a fan of middle eastern or mediterranean food or things that are "out of his comfort zone." but he's still a big spice eater and loves mexican food in particular.

Kyle:

he was raised to not be picky because it's considered rude, but he's pretty picky in nature so he just learned to get around it. has some sensory issues regarding some cooking styles of vegetables and texture stuff. cant do cooked celery or onion because of the texture unless its finely minced, pureed, or powdered. not a fan of fish because he ate so much of it growing up, and because his mom would make these salmon patties that had would have bones in them so now any time he eats salmon or any fish he feels the need to vomit. he also goes kosher in middle school when he connects more with his faith so... no more denny's bacon specials lmao.

Stan:

definitely more picky then the other four when it comes to flavor. doesn't like spicy foods and hates the texture of onions so he has to use minced, pureed, or powdered in recipes. he has the cilantro gene which makes visits to kyle's family for dinner pretty embarrassing. he doesn't like to make a big deal about it but he HAS to tell ms broflovski because if something even has a whiff of cilantro the entire meal tastes like soap and stink bug chemicals. sheila is very understanding of this and doesn't mind too much because the flavor of cilantro can be easily replicated with other herbs/spices. also has a huge vendetta against celery. it does NOT just "taste green" kyle, it's WEIRD and SHARP and the cooked texture is GROSS! hates steamed broccoli but tries to get over that in high school by eating it in frozen meals to get accustomed to it. not a big fan of things that are too sweet. sweets are best when they're just sweet enough to be yummy but not overpowering or super rich. the only "rich" sweet he likes is chocolate torte, and ONLY with black coffee to balance it out and it HAS to be in small alternating bites: like bite of torte, sip of coffee, bite of torte, sip of coffee, and so on.

Craig:

very restricted diet that sticks mostly to bland safe foods. every day for lunch he eats one of those uncrustable pb&js or honey and peanut butter. surprisingly a lot of his safe foods are vegetables of some sort because he ate them a lot as a little kid so hes accustomed to them and they feel "fresher" than other foods that can be overstimulating. they cant be cooked though, only raw. so he loves those veggie platters. broccoli is crossing the line a bit for him though because of the odd texture, so that's iffy for him. carrot sticks, celery, and ice berg lettuce are great though. some other non-veggie safe foods are white meat chicken or turkey, and instant mashed potatoes. he cant do normal mashed potatoes because they taste almost... smotheringly starchy?? the same with baked potatoes. but instant Idahoan brand instant mashed potatoes are lighter and smoother with a different taste. he can do cooked green beans as long as they still taste green and weren't cooked in a broth/grease of any sort, but he cant do peas because they're too mushy and weird.

I love teaching public school, but kids just don’t have access to replacement supplies - unless they come from me.

SOULBREAKER DIGEST: JANUARY 2024

Welcome to the first Soulbreaker Digest! I will be making posts overviewing the contents of each Soulbreaker Update video like I did for the teaser trailer! Now, go watch the latest Soulbreaker Update video:

Welcome to the rest of the post! It will be split into a few questions, including game updates, answered Q&A questions, theories, and misc. I will not being going through the non Soulbreaker content discussed.

GAME UPDATES

Dice Death and Dating is now Soulbreaker! So much new content as been added that it really requires a rename! (exciting!!) And the reason for the name is spoilery

Nothing has been cut from DD&D (awesome!)

Gameplay has been being rebuilt to make it more satisfying, responsive and juicier.

The main gameplay loop is finished, work on story and other content is going to be worked on now to get it to a state for a public demo.

Work has been done on the Soulbreaker's sprites! And we got to see the walkcycles!

New enemies! Twiggy, Teevy? (Look the subtitles call it TV so IDK how it's actually spelt) and Burnie (also nicknamed explodey) They're more basic enemies and also "little bastard"

Story progress! The game is almost half written at this point, polished and all.

Q&A ANSWERS

Taken directly from the video!

Q: "Is our main character canonically nonbinary, or is it one of those "its you so they're whatever you are" type of deals." A: " I'm happy to confirm that it's the latter. The character is whatever you would like them to be and the reason for that is that, while the character does have their own personality and their own story, we still wanted it to be you because the game's also still got some dating sim in it and if there's like a weird disconnect then it just feels off, you know? So the character is very much you. It's whatever gender you prefer them to be honestly. It's kind of like Link from Zelda, technically link is a dude but you know." Q: "Will there be permadeath and if so how is that going to work story-wise?" A: "Permaddeath no not exactly, the game is a roguelite and the lite part means every time you die you get to retain some of your stuff. You'll be dying a lot probably, but if you've played games like Hades, you know, you can come back check in with some of the story elements that are maybe in the House of Hades, before you then gear up and head out to your next run. So kind of a similar flow like that for Soulbreaker." Q: "I remember when talking about Soulbreaker, Cult of the Lamb was mentioned as inspiration! Are there any other games that are noteworthy to its inspiration to give us a good idea of what we'll be seeing?" A: Definitely so, Cult of the Lamb is a huge one, I mean everybody at the studio loves it. But some of our other Inspirations for Soulbreaker are Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells, and Hades, because they're all fantastic games, we all love them, and really we're just combining them into like the Bound Dead Cult of Hades kind of thing. It's going to be so much fun, and if you like any of those games or you're curious about them you're going to love Soulbreaker, so yes..." Q: "What will our ranged attack arsenal be like? Will we be able to attack at range at all?" A: "Yes. So you'll be able to cast all sorts of spells, and there's actually currently some talks in the studio about adding a dedicated ranged weapon as well, so, yes on all fronts! Melee and ranged you guys." Q: "Is there going to be co-op play?" A: Not for now. This is an idea that's floated around, but to be honest, co-op takes a lot of time and effort to do right, and right now we're focusing on all the other features instead. This is one of those 'maybe wishlist features', would be cool if that could be added one day, but for now? No, it's not going to be in the game." Q: "Can we befriend the tarrasque?" Q: "No no no, the REAL question is, can we ROMANCE the tarrasque?" A:

Q: "What is the power system in the game? Like, can the little Soulbreaker guy unlock new abilities, or will it be more based on loot and magic items?" A: "Yes, both actually. There will be some upgrades you can unlock to permanently upgrade yourself, and there's also a ton of items, kind of like in Binding Of Isaac, that you can use to upgrade your player during a run. It should be amazing chaos." Q: "Will Gorthan and Julian be in the game?" A: "Absolutely! In fact, the whole Fool's Gold cast will be in the game. Gorthan and Julian will likely take the place of merchants / blacksmiths in the game.

Theories and Misc observations.

So, VERY interested in the name Soulbreaker being spoiler teritory! I'm guessing the term Soulbreaker means something tangible in the game, as in its a class or a title of some sort. Maybe it's related to the mercury infection, maybe you can fight it *because* you're the Soulbreaker.

Happy to have some of my questions answered. VERY happy Julian and Gorthan are back (Over the course of the development for @fghuntforthecrystals I have grown pretty attached to Julian and Gorthan). I hope we get lots of banter and stuff with them! I need more Julian content in my life!

Also interested in the mention that, while the Soulbreaker's gender is up to the player, they have their own personality and story. Was really hoping they would have their own personality and I'm very happy about it!

Congrats on my friend @alynwrench for getting their art shown in the Sands segment of the video at the start too! That's awesome! We love Alyn here!

Last but not least, excited to have the new enemy sprites, will be adding them into my Soulbreaker Kristal mod at some point, though I will have to guess on how they attack (minus Burnie) since we didn't see them in action.
