Cammie had mentioned the students from Beacon were here, had been training with the Ace Ops, and Val just had to see for himself. It had been a frequent discussion among their little group, and they'd all been intrigued, interested in the group of fighters.
They'd all done quite well in the tournament, after all, and well, with the way Cammie spoke of them, they were all that much more intriguing.
"Training hard, are you?" he asked with a grin, leaning forward on the bench outside of the training room. "I've heard great things."

she blinks once or twice, looking up at the woman with a curious gaze before forcing her bubbly personality back to the front. "hey thanks. i was just thinking how i would like something to drink." she grins, taking the juice pouch and immediately digging in.
sweet. not exactly her taste, but she'll take it. "haven't you been handing these to everyone? that has to get tiring. make sure you get somethin' for yourself too."

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: THE ANAHEIM DUCKS ENDED THE BRUINS'S SIX GAME WIN STREAK EDITION! (and they brought the bruins into OT for the first time this season!)
tonight, cammy played his 900th game, gudas scored his first goal as a duck, my son and my dad scored goals in the final two minutes of regulation to tie the game, mac-t scored his first game winning goal of the season in overtime (i love you! i'm so proud! enjoy your forehead kisses!), and my lovely z-baby started a scrum over our son, leo, getting a hard hit which resulted in him drawing a roughing penalty by lindholm! and z led all forwards in time on ice with 22:49 minutes! all without getting a penalty!
oh, AND LEO GOT HIS FIRST ASSIST TONIGHT ON MASON'S GOAL! jackson also assisted on the goal, which means that all three players involved are under 23! we are, after all, the youngest team in the league, and it's starting to pay off! they're 2 for 2 on the roadie, so let's keep this up!

split time back and fourth between newark and greenwich village
the type of couple to wake up at sunrise, get a coffee and bagel from the corner truck and walk through central park
luke is for sure the one that runs into pigeons and acting like a fool
only to get kailey to laugh
life's mission of luke is to make kailey happy and laugh at all times
intimate touching instead of kissing in public, always having to hold hands or have a hand on a thigh, of their lower back. especially if they go out at night, luke makes sure they are glued to each other at all times
the most competitive board gamers (monoply- absolute feral and scene it harry potter- she will kill whoever- including luke to win. so will luke.)
kailey got luke into harry potter and made him read the books early on in their relationship
actually, she got him onto reading in general. will read anything now.
luke demands one broadway show a month from kailey, meaning they put on the cast album and she belts out the songs with him.
luke absolutely adores kaileys mom, helen. will constantly ask about her and shamelessly asks for home cooked meals from her.
kailey adores it and whenever he gets homesick, she brings him over to her mom's or invites her to hang out and he's grateful for the relationship
luke does not meet alex until July when she invites him out to Washington dc for a visit
one of their favorite dates is to go to painting or paint pottery
they also like to go to watch movies, because she is a movie fanatic and it's something simple to do
her first game that she goes to is the last home game before christmas break, with a win over detroit
nicknames for kailey: pretty girl, calls her by her middle name 'kai', my romashka - meaning my cammie or chamomile, and my lioness
nicknames for luke: pookie, lukey, my love, darling, and Mashunechka (an generic intimate nickname)
huge fans of ice cream and ice cream dates
huge sweettoothes in general
when summer comes around, kailey visits michigan as much as she can between working her nannying job and working at the local bookstore in georgtown.
once her dad finds out about him, kailey and him go to cape cod
around their 6 month mark, kailey see's something on social media and quickly feels like luke might be cheating on her based on the limited space between the two. she even calls her dad about it, but does not mention specifics.
their song is: say yes to heaven, by lana del ray
just like how people belt out to taylor swift and are obsessed with her? that's them with olivia rodrigo and tate mcrae. no hesitation.
when kailey's in a particular mood or stressed with school, luke will come over to her apartment or she will come to his and jacks and they will have a star wars marathon.
as a fashion major, she feels entitled to update his fashion. as well as jacks, because they both need it.
she researches curly hair routines, and the both of them continuously try new things to find out the perfect routine, for him.
she teaches him russian, dubbed "little lion lessons". she teaches him the basics and simple greetings and conversation words. he surprises her though about six months in when she is having a harder time with her mental health, and gives her a whole ass talk in russian and like she thought that she knew he was the one she wanted to marry. but she REALLY knew he was the one.
luke learns enough russian to have a basic conversation with kailey and alex. alex is pretty stunned to say the least. he goes, "you mean he didn't flunk out of highschool?" in old slavic to which luke didnt understand.
uncle geno is the BIGGEST fan of the two
she tells him before she tells her dad
when pittsburgh visits new jersey, he invites her out to dinner along with luke.
in summer of 2024, she joins the cast of hadestown at the off broadway theater for a limited time run as eurydice, for the month of august. luke comes to her first week of shows before heading to michigan to get some things settled, before pulling quinn, jack and his parents for the finale on the 29th. after a two-day staycation, her and luke head back up to nyc and jersey for the year.
cape cod is their place - they get a offseason house in 2028.
luke and kailey ended up going 4 times during their first summer being together
they have a very important talk one morning over coffee and croissants and just know that that is where they are meant to visit at least once an offseason.
some angsty thoughts:
once she graduates in 2026, she has a hard time figuring out what she wants to do. her dream is to open a boutique clothing store in manhattan somewhere or on the cape or georgetown, but doesn't know short term.
ends up going to Washington for about two months, and it just so happened to be when alex was moving from Washington to new york to get back together with kaileys mom once he retires at the age of 41, a year after kailey graduates, he and her mom decide to give things a go again after some really good years the past few.
but she's in Washington while he is back in michigan, and even though luke is trying his hardest to give her the space she needs and craves, its difficult. he is moody af and at times does NOT train.
kailey calls sent a text over in july, stating she needed a break for a bit and that she would reconnect with him once the season begins.
luke has such a shit show of a summer after that + the beginning of season.
kailey spends july through September in the hamptoms with her parents, after alex helping fulfill her mom's dream. summer in the hamptons. (for longer than a week)
luke gets hella jealous because andrei visits for a week in august before heading back to carolinas. he hates how close the two are now that they are on a break.
OH and he also does not like her bestie chris, and thinks he still is in love with her but we'll get a blurb for that at some point hehe
when kailey returns to nyc with her parents she does not expect to see luke in the city.
he always used to say he hated the city when he was not with her
that the reason he loved the city with her, was because she gave it life and energy. he loved seeing it through her eyes.
she was very shocked to see him and he was stunned too. he didn't expect to see her the first time he headed into the city.
but nico being the swiss princess that he is, has to come up and greet her when she goes to dinner with her parents at Soho house
and then the rest of the group comes up, and alex is NOT happy
he doesn't care for any of them, she whispers in russian "be nice dad."
but he see's luke and relaxes a bit.
he really likes luke and began to feel like maybe they could be the real deal before their break.
but anywho
alex talks some sense into his daughter (calls her a dummy) and literally drops her off at the train station to head down to jersey to talk to him. (will get blurb at some point!)
and she does
and yknow, they get back together and what not.
and ofcourse, not without luke promising that he's gonna marry her one day. even though they had talked about it many times, and their future together- she knew it to be soon.

Cammy's Unbreakable Spirit by Jade Gretz
Cammy White, a freelance operative with a penchant for trouble, found herself amidst a dusty labyrinth of an antique market in Bangkok. The air hung thick with the scent of incense and spices, a symphony of haggling voices the soundtrack to her treasure hunt. Her objective: a rare artifact rumored to grant its owner unparalleled combat prowess.
Following a cryptic map scrawled on a napkin (courtesy of a shady informant), Cammy navigated the maze of stalls overflowing with trinkets and forgotten relics. Just as doubt began to gnaw at her, she stumbled upon a hidden alcove, shrouded in cobwebs and shrouded in an unsettling chill.
In the center of the alcove, nestled amongst tarnished silver and chipped porcelain, lay a rolled-up parchment. Its edges were singed, the script etched in a language that defied recognition. An almost palpable aura of power emanated from it, sending a shiver down Cammy's spine. This was it. The artifact.
Ignoring the prickling unease, Cammy unfurled the scroll. The symbols writhed and pulsed before settling into a language she inexplicably understood. It spoke of an ancient martial art, a discipline honed by forgotten warriors, its techniques imbued with otherworldly power.
Driven by her insatiable curiosity and a healthy dose of recklessness, Cammy devoured the contents of the scroll. Words burned themselves into her memory: ethereal strikes that defied physics, a preternatural awareness of her surroundings, and an almost superhuman level of strength.
The knowledge flooded her mind, an exhilarating yet terrifying torrent. It felt like an alien language taking root, pushing against the very fabric of her being. But before she could dwell on the strangeness of it all, a voice slithered into her mind, a sibilant whisper that sent a jolt of ice through her veins.
"You have awakened the Tiger's Fury," the voice hissed, slithering around her mind like a serpent. "Now it awakens me."

Piper and Cam head back to their dorm, and are pleasantly surprised to see their respective aunties there. “Megs and I were nearby at Laurel Library* so we decided why not visit our nieces and check in on them?” Iseul says as Cam wraps her in a bear hug and Piper does the same to Megan. “I’m glad you guys did, auntie.” Cam says, blinking rapidly to stop from crying. Iseul hears the sappiness in her voice and hugs her back tightly. “Dang it, auntie Is.” Cam tries to joke. “I was doing okay with homesickness but seeing you made me all sappy and emotional again.” She adds, and Iseul smiles. While Megan checks in with Cam, Iseul hugs Piper as well. “How’s your and Cammy’s first day going?” She asks. “Hectic and new but good.” Piper says, and Iseul smiles. “I’m glad, and how are you doing?" She asks. “Honestly? I’m a bit homesick but excited to do so many things like a dorm movie night and spending time with Cam at the library.” Iseul grins as her eyes get a slightly faraway look. “Yeah, I had a lot of good times at that library too." She adds, and Piper snorts and says. "I know, Cammy overheard you saying that you took auntie Megan there when you guys were in college to make out." Iseul blushes. "We didn't just do that, we studied and read and talked about our classes and books. Which is the only thing you and Cam should be doing there." Iseul adds in a jokingly stern voice as Piper grins. "Oh, sure auntie." Piper says.
Iseul and Megan head back home after checking on their nieces, and Cam suggests she and Piper woohoo. Piper grins and says alright, and they do that and head to bed. The next day, Cam has some pistachio ice cream and then she and Piper work on their term papers and semester projects. (I don't want them to fall behind, and plus it's Wednesday in game so those are due very soon. 😳)

Hey, do you think Zach celebrates his bday- like first, with his mom when he was young, second when he's at blackthorne/teen, and now after uws with cam?
Hi friend, the short answer is yes.
I think Catherine tried to celebrate Zach's birthday. At least for a few years. The important ones in her book. 1, 2, 3, 4... And then she just stops.
It's too hard to be a single mother. In her eyes it's too exhausting. She does try. But she gets tired of failing so eventually she stops. She stops trying so hard. She just doesn't quite see the point...
It started as a dinosaur coloring book. And then it was a box of hot wheels. And then it was a blanket...
By the time Zach was 8, everything became more practical. A new pair of boots. A set of throwing knives. A pack of socks...
And then she stops. She just forgets.
Zach doesn't mention his birthday. He doesn't care. But every year, he picks up a pack of cinnamon chewing gum, a singular package of peanut M&Ms, and a tiny pack of playing cards. He wanders down the halls of Blackthorne or down the streets of whatever city he's in, and he sits.
He stares at the sky, breathes deeply, and whispers a broken happy birthday...
But when Cammie finds out Zach's birthday is in November, she wastes no time in making Zach's night the best night ever. She orders burgers and fries, Chinese food, Italian food (even though its not the same as authentic Italian). And then she picks up a slice of cake, pie, a giant cookie, and a ton of ice cream from each and every grocery store, ice cream truck, and ice cream joint she could find within 45 minuets of their apartment at Georgetown. And she practically dumps it all out on the floor of their kitchen/living room. And they eat until they can't anymore. And they laugh and they talk. And they tease each other and then they just sit in silence. Until Cammie leads Zach away from the mess, pulling him to the bedroom.
