yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: THE ANAHEIM DUCKS ENDED THE BRUINS'S SIX GAME WIN STREAK EDITION! (and they brought the bruins into OT for the first time this season!)

tonight, cammy played his 900th game, gudas scored his first goal as a duck, my son and my dad scored goals in the final two minutes of regulation to tie the game, mac-t scored his first game winning goal of the season in overtime (i love you! i'm so proud! enjoy your forehead kisses!), and my lovely z-baby started a scrum over our son, leo, getting a hard hit which resulted in him drawing a roughing penalty by lindholm! and z led all forwards in time on ice with 22:49 minutes! all without getting a penalty!

oh, AND LEO GOT HIS FIRST ASSIST TONIGHT ON MASON'S GOAL! jackson also assisted on the goal, which means that all three players involved are under 23! we are, after all, the youngest team in the league, and it's starting to pay off! they're 2 for 2 on the roadie, so let's keep this up!

mason pov (third person: he/his)

as mason finished getting his shoes on, he texted trevor to tell him that he was about to leave, quickly putting his phone in his pocket and heading out the door. the two men luckily living in the same building. all he had to do was go down a few floors. what felt like moments later, mason exited the elevator strolling down the hallway to trevor’s apartment, excited to finally spend sometime with his best friend.

“what’s up mother fuc- oh hi.” he says shutting the door and seeing no other than trevor’s ray of sunshine girlfriend, dixie, sitting on his couch. he sees her mumble to herself before opening her phone.

“where’s trevor?” he asks and she slaps her phone down on her legs.

“why?” she retorts.

“we’re supposed to hang out today.” he says placing his keys on the counter. it seemed like the internal feud he had with the girl grew by each breath she took.

“you don’t have to be with him all the time you know. my birthday dinner is tonight and i’m his girlfriend so you can’t just expect him to be available for you all the time.” she replies simply. mason was about over her and her bullshit.

“wow.” he scoffs.

“what? i’m his girlfriend. did you not hear me the first time?”

“yeah i did, and that means nothing to me.”

“well it should, so stop fucking prying and digging in our lives to hang out with him.” she says.

“wow my fucking bad.” he says walking past her into trevor’s room where he stood in a pair of sweat pants fixing his hair after a shower.

“oh hey mason.” he says casually.

“sup.”

“you okay?” trevor asks, clearly tip toeing.

“yep totally.”

“that’s not promising.” he says replies.

“yeah it’s not, i’m leaving.” mason says getting up and walking back out of the room.

“wait mason i can-“

“no you can’t explain dude. listen, we made plans a fucking month ago and you’re canceling on me the day of? i never even fucking see you because of her,” mason says pointing at dixie, “she has completely ruined our friendship and i can’t lie and say that it doesn’t upset me or piss me off.”

“excuse me?” she tries to interrupt but fails.

“mason i swear i was gonna tell you so we could reschedule but i-“

“no, i don’t even fucking care anymore. listen man, if you’re gonna let that bitch dictate your every day then so be it. i don’t fucking like her, i don’t wanna be around her, and i don’t care that i’m saying this in front of her, she needs a fucking attitude check. i was there for you dude. through everything and now, because of her, me and our friendship mean jackshit to you. i’m sorry but i can’t do it anymore.” mason finishes grabbing his keys and exiting trevor’s apartment, not letting him even reply. his head was spinning, he didn’t know where to go, he just knew he didn’t want to be alone.

y/n pov!

you heard a quiet knock on the door of yours and leo’s apartment. you weren’t expecting visitors so you were unsure of who could be standing there. you look through the peephole and see a visibly distressed mason. quickly, you unlock the door and open it.

“hi.” he says quietly.

“hey mason, uh leo’s not here.” you say with empathetic eyes.

“it’s fine because i need to talk to you.” he says, and your heart flutters at the idea of him coming to you.

“is everything okay?” you ask shutting and locking the door behind him.

“no.” he says sitting down on the couch.

“what happened?” you say sitting down next to him.

“so i was supposed to hang out with trevor today.”

“oh yes leo told me about that, why aren’t you?”

“it’s dixie’s conveniently scheduled birthday dinner and he forgot to ask to reschedule until i got there. mind you we planned this for a MONTH.” he says rushing his words, his voice slightly wavering.

“and?”

“dixie said some smart ass remark about how ‘i can’t expect him to always be available for me because she’s his girlfriend’ or some bullshit like that. and then he came out as i was about to leave and then i went off on him AND her and now i think it’s completely burned a bridge.” he continues, obviously fighting back tears.

“oh mason, i’m so sorry.” you say placing a caring hand on his leg.

“he’s supposed to be my best friend but ever since he got with her he’s changed and i never see him and now that jamie’s gone what am i supposed to do?” he asks letting a tear fall.

“come here mase.” you say opening your arms for him. you wrapped the brunette in your embrace, allowing him to cry without judgement. you rubbed his back soothingly.

“sorry i just cried to you about this. how embarrassing.” he sniffles wearing an apologetic smile, pulling away from you.

“no don’t be embarrassed mason, everyone needs to cry.” you say wiping his tear soaked cheeks.

“this whole situation just sucks. i hate it. i just lost my best friend to a rude ass bitch.” he says trying to laugh it off.

“your feelings are valid mason, just breathe okay?” you say pulling him back in for another hug.

“do you have any plans? i don’t wanna be alone.” he says wiping his nose with a tissue you gifted him as he pulled away.

“i was just gonna start a movie if you want to join me.” you smile at him, feeling sorry for what had just occurred.

“if that’s okay?”

“of course, come on.” you say taking his hand in yours and dragging him to your bedroom. you leaned back on your headboard as mason climbed in bed next to you. you hit play on your remote and got comfortable under the covers.

“mason you can get under the covers.” you giggle as he nervously follows suit. soon after he gets comfortable, a long comforting silence takes over the room. without a word, you somehow found your way to mason’s side. your arm draped over his torso, your head on his shoulder, his head leaned on yours.

“you remember that time i went out with you, leo and daniella?” he asks breaking the silence.

“i do.” you reply.

“that was one of the best days i’ve had in a long time.”

“was it?”

“it was.”

“can i ask why?”

“well i felt like you guys wanted me to be there and it was just so much fun. i’m so glad leo introduced us you know?” he smiles looking down at you.

“and why would that be?”

“because he introduced me to my dream girl.” he smirks causing your heart to skip a beat.

“me?” you say, cheeks burning bright red.

“yeah.”

“this isn’t you just saying that because you’re upset about dixie and trevor right?”

“no no but it’s made me realize that i need to spend time with the people that care about me and people that i enjoy being around. that’s what brought me here.”

“i care about you a lot.” you giggle and he presses a short kiss to your temple.

“same here, it’s just a plus that you’re beautiful.” he smiles and you bury your face in his shoulder out of embarrassment.

“hey don’t get all shy on me.”

“i like you a lot mason. when he invited you to come i was so nervous.”

“awe really?” he giggles.

“yes, really.” you mumble.

“i can see us spending a lot more time together now yeah?” he smirks and you nod in response.

“would you want to stay over?” you offer.

“if you’ll come with me to get my clothes, then yes.”

“okay.” you say pressing pause, following the curly haired boy up to his apartment. he changes into grey sweats and a tshirt before following you back down to your apartment. you opened the door to see leo and daniella at the counter eating takeout.

“oh uh, hey guys.” mason says awkwardly.

“hey mason, what’re you doing here?” leo asks.

“well i-“

“i’ll tell him.” you say cutting him off.

“dixie completely destroyed him and trevor’s friendship so he came to me about it and now he’s staying over so he’s not alone.” you simply say to your baby brother.

“i knew there was a reason he keeps leaving me on read. asshole.” leo says shaking his head.

“i’m staying over if that’s okay with you?” mason says, wrapping a light arm around your waist.

“hey, i’m little brother, i have no say. just be good to her.” he laughs.

“you know i will.” mason says, his words causing your heart to feel at ease. you take him by the hand back into your room and get right back into your previous position, holding on a little more tightly this time.

“i hope this is making you feel a little better.” you say quietly.

“it is.” he replies and you kiss him on the cheek, his scruff tickling your face.

“i hope he realizes what a bitch she is.” you state randomly and the two of you bust out laughing.

“you know what? me too, me fucking too baby.”

Y/N just wanted to forget about this week from hell. In Vegas, she forgets just about everything, including her aversion to marriage.

"I told you this was a bad idea. Bringing rookies to Las Vegas is bad luck!" Alex groaned loudly, walking back and forth in the suite's sitting room.

"This isn't bad luck, this is Trevor being a dumbass." Quinn corrected from his seat, his eyes glued to his phone. "Well, him and the rest of you jackasses. No offense, Leo."

The rookie looked away from the amazing view to look at the veteran. "None taken."

Trevor sighed, throwing his head back against the seat rest. Quinn wasn't wrong about him making really dumb decisions. He could feel the gold ring burning into his skin as he listened to his friends discuss his latest fuck-up. He had really gone and done it this time, hadn't he?

"First of all, Leo was never here, alright?" Jack asserted. "The only thing worse than getting married when you're one shot away from getting your stomach pumped is to do it with a drunk minor you got a fake ID for in the entourage."

"This is why I don't drink with you guys." Jamie said from the bathroom.

"No, you don't drink with us because last time you did you puked everywhere."

"Guys! Not the time." the blond man intervened, raising his hand in the air, the golden band demanding everyone's attention. "I need to figure out how to undo this."

Everyone looked at each other, no clue what to do next. It wasn't common for a group of men in the 18-24 year-old range to know about legal proceedings or how to clean up their own messes. It was usually all tidy and taken care of before they even realised there was a problem to be dealt with.

"Well, first off, we need to find your wife." Quinn pointed out. "Then, we need to get down to whatever wedding chapel you dumb idiots stumbled into, and ask for an annulment, I guess. Oh, you should warn your agent and ask for a lawyer, too."

"Can you guys imagine Z having to give a random chick half of his money because he got blackout drunk in Vegas? Oh dude, you'd go down in hockey history." Alex chuckled to himself, getting hit with a pillow not long after.

"God, my mom is going to kill me." Trevor groaned, throwing himself on the large, unmade bed he had woken up in with a complete stranger he had decided to marry staring down at him.

"Forget about your mom, Trev. The Ducks are going to lose their shit." Cole mused. "This is terrible publicity."

"There's no such thing as bad publicity, brothers." Jack countered, poking Trevor's back with the remote he found on his dresser. "Get up, dude. Quinny's right. We've got to find your wife and convince her to unmarry you."

"Oh trust me, she doesn't want any of this." he gestured to his body, going limp again after he did. "She ran faster than Bolt when I showed her the name on the ring."

"Yeah, well, we need to get to her before anyone else does and this gets out." Quinn said matter-of-factly, annoyed that, yet again, he has been roped into one of Trevor's shenanigans.

"Does she know who you are?" Jamie asked, propped up against the doorframe.

"Nope. She didn't do the screech and she wasn't taking pictures of me sleeping when I woke up. Last time that happened..."

"This happens regularly?" Leo nearly screeched, looking panicked.

"If you're Trevor, yeah." Cole shrugged. "Never to this extent until today, but... Don't worry, rookie, the fact that you look alarmed already tells us you've got more functional brain cells than he does, you'll be fine."

A sudden knock on the door halted the conversation, prompting Quinn to release another exasperated sigh and answer it. He should definitely stop letting his brother convince him to come on their trips, he already knew he'd be the babysitter at the brink of a nervous breakdown by the end of it.

He opened the door, being greeted by a small woman, backed up by tall redhead, surprise evident on their faces.

"Can I help you?"

"Yeah, we're looking for the ass my best friend ran away with and ended up married to last night. You know anything about that, sad-looking little boy?" Y/F/N/2 fired away, pointing at the eldest Hughes.

A cackle came from inside, Cole turning up beside him in the next instant. "I think you're in the right place, ladies."

Quinn rolled his eyes, stepping aside so the two women could come inside, meeting the other men in the living room, who immediately sized them up and down, eyebrows raised, most likely waiting for their reaction.

No reaction. They could not give two shits about them, and the annoyed looks on their faces were proof of it.

"Where's Travis?"

"Trevor." Y/N corrected her friend, using her fingers to rub at her temples. "I'm pretty sure we've got the right room."

"Yeah, you got the right one..." the blond man spoke quietly, probably for the first time in his life, coming from the bedroom. "Wife."

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: MY BABY DADDY SCORED HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON EDITION!

tonight, my duckies won 7-4 against the flyers! coincidentally, the only time the ducks scored 7 goals last season was also in a 7-4 win where trevor scored and stromer assisted on it! isn't that fun? yay stats! that's my mans and my hero!

you'll notice that i put 0.5 as the penalty count, and that's because z sat for a too many men bench penalty, which don't count towards his personal minutes, but he was still in the box!

and our son! he's taking after his father with his second penalty of the season! i’m so proud of you, leo! i love you! we love criminals in the zegras-hughes family <3
