This is just a list of cliches I don’t really like. And remember cliches are good, but they’re better when you add your own twist to them so people don’t get turned off by it.

ONE. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ their tongues fought for dominance , no, no, and no. This will simply not do. It’s sooo so so so overused and cliche and weird. If you use this in a story I guarantee you’ll lose customers.

TWO. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ using orbs to describe eyes , his glowing orbs, orbs as dark as night, it just sounds funky and I don’t see it used a lot a lot, but still try to avoid it. in my opinion it just sounds weird, I guess it just depends on how you use it in a sentence.

THREE. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ ( person a ) didn’t know where they ended and ( person b ) began , now this is a tough one because it depends on context. You can write this, just try to change the wording. I used something similar to this in a story of mine but it wasn’t word for word. This phrase alone is overused, so just try and change the wording of it, if that makes sense.

FOUR. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ he forced his tongue down her throat , again, something that is overused and sounds weird. It can depend on context when you use it, but it needs to be a hot scene for it work. just try to avoid or rephrase it, or make it fit into the scene.

FIVE. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ he glared daggers into her , overused af. there’s other ways to describe a piercing glare.

SIX. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ sparks going off when person a kisses person b , there are other ways to describe a first kiss with someone, but I used to see this one a lot. They would always say sparks went off when he kissed me and I was like nahhh

SEVEN. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ person a released a breath they didn’t know they were holding , now this one isn’t that bad in my opinion, but when written word for word it can be very overused. There’s other ways to write holding your breath that you can make unique to you as writer. This exact phrase is overused, but you can always change the wording depending on the context.

EIGHT. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ you like what you see? , tbh, ig this one isn’t that bad and it can depend on the character saying it, but I think it’s so corny and cliche for someone to say. If I see it written, I immediately think the author just isn’t that good at dialogue 😭

NINE. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ his eyes darkened , apparently people don’t like this one, but I do 😭 I don’t think it’s that bad, and it all depends on context and how repetitively you use it. Using it once is good, but if you keep repeating it then it feels repetitive and unoriginal. is it overused? Yes, I’ve even used it. Is it that bad? No. 9/10 for me.

TEN. ꒱ ₊˚⊹ his gaze sent shivers down my spine , my thing with this is it is kind of unrealistic as you do not shiver when someone looks at you. However, you can feel uncomfortable and your skin can get that chilled feeling, so it’s not so far off. This is another phrase you may want to reword as the literal phrase is overused.
