Should Kyman be canonized or just kept the way things are with their weird relationship? XD

ok this is a rlly good question. i personally would love to see it canon bc i have absolutely no life and i ship two animated 4th graders together but i acknowledge the fact that the majority of south park fans don’t give a shit abt ships and only watch the show for the comedy LOL. so yeah i can see how them making kyman canon would piss off A LOT of people or ruin the show for them (and canonizing pretty much any ship between the four boys) so if it doesn’t happen it’s not the end of the world for me. however, i do feel like there are some things they could do to make kyman happen that would be satisfying for ALL the fans so it won’t seem like something that comes completely out of nowhere. first of all south park is a COMEDY and i’ve talked abt betore how kyman works 100x better than any other fanon ship bc it’s funny af and works with the tone of the show. so yeah they would rlly have to crank up the comedy on it to the max so it’s not something that’s taken too seriously. i mean i do feel they should give us serious moments of C&K here and there to show some character growth and development between the two characters and their bond, but yeah the primary focus of a sitcom is to be funny with only occasional serious/emotional moments here and there. BUT ALSO i feel like matt & trey would need to amp up the obviousness in the hints we’re getting. even tho the kyman shit seems rlly obvious to the testies bc we’ve overly dissected it, i feel like most people don’t notice this shit bc the hints are so damn subtle lol. even tho there are some people who have said that people they know irl who are just casual viewers notice the kyman shit but i feel like the majority of people don’t care and aren’t looking too much into it. bc yeah if matt & trey make it more clear that kyman is a thing and cartman and kyle like each other and continue giving us hints and foreshadowing, except this time they make it more noticeable among casual fans, then i feel like more people might root for it and it’ll feel earned when it does happen. i feel like it would need to be more like the gay hints abt stewie in family guy which are soooo obvious to literally everyone it’s just a known canon fact at this point that stewie is gay LOL (and there’s even compilations on youtube of it). however, the gay shit with cartman is def more debatable and more subtle so a lot of people don’t notice or care. so yeah i think if they’re rlly serious abt making kyman canon matt & trey need to stop pussying around and make it a little more clear and tackle it head on. the show def has done a good job developing their relationship throughout the years and the ship gets more and more intense each season, so yeah all they need to do is keep up the good work with that while sprinkling in a little more gayness and cranking up the obviousness and intensity of their romantic tension.

I love him to pieces irl, I swear, but my hand slipped while I was writing and this is where we are now so I hope we can all accept this is purely fictional. “Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.” George burst out of Lando’s closet. He ran his hands through his hair.

“Ewww!” Lando exclaimed, prompting Georget to quickly cover his mouth.

“Keep it down! We don’t need Riley to know we were spying on her,” George chastised. He wasn’t anticipating such a climatic resolution from his plan, but here they were. All he wanted was to know what was up with Riley. Why she had been avoiding him and keeping things from him? It wasn’t like her. Not with him. They were supposed to be best friends.

They could hear the events that took place down the hall just fine through the thin hotel walls. It also helped that Lando’s room was at the end of the hall, so he had the perfect view of the encounter from his peephole.

“What are we gonna do now?” Lando asked. “Charles kissed Riley! Never mind that, Riley kissed Charles!”

“It’s not our place to step in and do anything about it,” George said as a matter of factly. 

Lando rolled his eyes. “Oh please, if you believed that we wouldn’t be here right now doing what we’re doing.” 

“Incorrect, Lando. I was never here,” George corrected him.

“Mate, come on,” Lando said. “We both know you’re gonna do something about it, so stop pretending.”

George huffed in response. “She just hasn’t been herself lately,” he said glumly. “I thought maybe it was something to do with her whole dating Pierre reveal, but clearly she doesn’t seem to care much about the guy if she’s over here snogging Charles.”

Lando scoffed in derision. “Charles doesn't snog. I mean, he's much too prince like don't you think? But honestly, you’d think she’d consult her best friend–”

“Second best friend,” George jutted in correction.

“–before two-timing a guy,” he finished without falter. “What good am I for then, George? What good am I to her?” He barked dramatically as if that was what was most important at the moment.

“Keep your voice down, mate!” George said again. “Never mind, I need to get going anyway." “Sooo?” Lando asked.

“So what?” George questioned.

“So Riley! What are we gonna do? You never answered my question.”

“I think it’s high time I had a conversation with our Monegasque prince. Don't you think?”

Out of all the places George was expecting to find Charles–his room for starters–the hotel bar was not one of them. It didn’t make sense given that Charles hardly ever touches his drinks when they’re all together. If anything, it only drew more concern in George about the situation.

“What are you doing here, mate?” Charles questioned, his eyes glazed over with the distinct feeling of disappointment. 

George was surprised that Charles had spotted him at all. He quickly wiped any emotion off of his face and took a seat on the bar stool next to Charles. “I could ask you the same thing,” George responded coolly. 

Charles let out a groan, possibly in frustration or annoyance. At what though, George was unsure. “Did she tell you to come here? To berate me for my actions? Demanding an apology as always?” He huffed.

“No, mate. She doesn’t even know I’m here,” George answered without giving into Charles’ childish whining. This response, however, only made Charles hang his head lower until he swung his head back taking the final gulps of his drink. George winced at the sight as if he could feel the burning in his own throat, but Charles didn’t show any signs of discomfort. He really was annoyingly perfect like a prince, George scoffed to himself.  “I just want to know what’s going on. Riley is my best friend and from what I can see, you and yours are toying with her. You know what she’s been through. You know she doesn’t deserve it.”

Charles grits his teeth at the insinuation that he’s torturing Riley for fun. Not when he feels just as tortured by her in his own right. “It’s not like that. It’s not like that at all,” he spits out.

“Then explain it to me,” George shrugs. “Explain to me what it is you think you know about Riley and why I shouldn’t just cut your head off for hurting my best friend.” Charles tenses at the threat and George feels a surge of achievement at the sight.

“I don’t want to hurt her, but just being around her is agonizing for me,” Charles senses George’s glare on him and quickly explains himself. “I think I’m in love with her,” he says finally.

George is silent for a beat. “Oh. Oh,” is all he can say. This was not the take he was expecting to hear. He wanted to put a stop to all of this, but he knows well enough that there was no stopping this if Charles really means it.

“Yeah,” Charles says in agreement. “But it doesn’t matter because she doesn’t feel the same way. Not to mention, it’s my best friend she’s messing around with. Not that he deserves her, but he’s always been a bit of an idiot.”

“Well, what are you going to do about it then?” It’s only the next logical thing to ask in George’s mind. 

He also takes note of the people beginning to pass more frequently through the bar. It was so late into the night that it had already given way to morning. Early risers in the hotel would notice soon enough that two Formula One drivers were sitting at a bar, one drinking his sorrows. It wouldn’t be a good look in the media.

“Nothing,” Charles shrugged. 

“What?!” George almost shrieks, drawing eyes to their attention. “You can’t just not do anything about it! At the very least help me get her away from Pierre’s clutches. If you think me wanting to cut your head off was bad, it was generous compared to what I want to do to your little French friend.” 

Charles shuddered at the thought. “It’s not my place anymore. If Riley wants to get her heart broken by someone who would be glad enough to do it, I can’t stop her. It’s her choice, no matter how volatile it makes me.”

“Yes, you can, you prat,” George sneers. Charles looks at him with astonishment. Up until this moment he had always thought of George as poised and dignified.

“Tell her how you feel,” George tells him as if it was that simple. “You’re saying it’s her choice,” he continues, “but how can it be her choice if she doesn’t even know she has options to choose from.” With that, he pushes his stool back and stands up. 

He doesn’t wait for Charles’ response as he pats the other man on the shoulder and says, “I suggest you get out of here soon, mate. Wouldn’t want the public to think poorly of their Monegasque prince.”

Charles does leave soon enough to return to his room, but going there means having to pass by Riley’s room. And unfortunately for him, it was right as Pierre was exiting it.

His friend gives him a smirk as if the two are in on some secret, but he doesn’t say anything as he descends down the hall and out of sight.

Charles opens his door bitterly and plops onto his bed in a most unrefined manner. The comfort he felt as he sunk further into the mattress was not enough to combat his racing anxieties and the anger he didn’t know he felt. Because that was what he felt when he saw Pierre exiting Riley’s room. He wanted to punch his best friend in a way he had never felt towards him before. He didn’t know how to explain the rising feeling of anguish at the sight of him leaving her room otherwise. 

Maybe George was right. He has to do something about this. He has to win her over because if he can’t, he doesn’t think he’ll survive the torment of Riley Wolff. Even if it means taking Pierre down with him.

But first, he needs sleep.

New Turtle getting her thoughts out

I was looking for a bl recommendation and saw that The Untamed was everyone's favorite couple. Then I read that it’s censored and that nothing actually happened and was about to skip it but both lead actors were so attractive, I just had to give it a try. I loved the show. I waited till the end to look up the actors cause i was afraid their modern look would interfere with how i view them. They were just as cute irl. I watched the 9 minute video on the boat, saw their chemistry and knew I was gonna get hooked with my obsessive self. By going down that rabbit hole I found a whole separate love story that was somehow less censored than the one they were acting in. 

I’m sure they weren’t expecting people to get so hooked on their own personal relationship and i bet it wasn’t easy seeing their every move dissected and fans projecting their own desires onto this pure thing that is THEIRS. But, they glow together and it’s hard not to look. It's a privilege to witness and I hope they understand this and forgive us. I could write a whole essay about this point. They radiated pure love, affection, admiration. With all the dark forces in the world, chemistry like theirs reminds you that good things can happen too. That there is true beauty too. Magic. I think they were also in awe of what they found. That type of connection isn’t something you come by everyday. I’ve experienced similar relationships before, it makes your life so much richer. Anyway, what makes me think it’s romantic?  

I’ve never had that much energy for someone that I didn't have a crush on. Always trying to be near them, always teasing, flirting, staring. My friend worked with a married guy once who used to playfully hit her and told her “i hit you cause i can’t hug you”, kinda creepy i know, but watching them i could help think of that. The desire to be close. I could list all of my favorite moments but you guys already have. I actually like this one. Maybe I’m reading into it but Yibo seems legit angry and not his usual smiley self when he’s around gg. Look at him with that intense blank stare, and gg doesn’t know what to do with himself lol. Then they fight (i wish they camera would have stayed on their faces) and break the tension. This is the only time I’ve seen them like this. I remember watching that and thinking 1) oh they are close close if they’re fighting like this 2) this seems unprofessional get it together boys lol.

I try to be rational and tell myself that just because i can’t relate to that level of interest towards a friend, doesn’t mean that it’s not possible. Truth is, on some level i kinda hope for their sake that it’s not romantic. As much as I love romance, romantic love is fickle. Nothing is much stronger and meaningful than true friendship (I’m projecting here cause my bestie is my soulmate and my most meaningful deep relationship). Plus the idea of being a gay Chinese celebrity sounds like HELL. Just to imagine the levels of paranoia they would have to deal with. Someone hacking their phone, the government possibly listening in on their conversation. Jesus. That would put so much stress on a relationship. Plus, they are both so freaking busy. Anything is possible through and from the side they definitely looked in love.  

Whatever they are, I hope they are still close. I feel like the more successful they get, the lonelier it can get. In my imagination it’s part of what connected them in the first place. They could allow themselves to shine brightly in front of each other cause the other person was just as beautiful, just as charismatic, just as bright, just as confident. There was no need to be humble or walk on tip toes around each other. They were so real with each other and that’s hard to find for anyone, especially celebrities who have to deal with things that most people can't relate to. I would imagine they know this and don’t take it for granted.

I love the end of Untamed cause i love an open end. We know enough. We know their characters, we know they love each other, we know they meet again and now we get to imagine what that would look like. Same with Yizhan. I love not knowing. I didn't enjoy the press & interviews as much, i didn't like seeing their bond capitalized. I'm so happy their relationship, whatever is it, is now only between them.

Hi! I finally read HDWTOTL after seeing the cover art submissions on my dash for days. I won’t be emotionally the same ever again. Thank you, genuinely. But anyway, I was wondering if I could get some general writing advice?

I haven’t ever finished a story, and my problem is this: I can’t propel it forward. I have ideas for the beginning or middle of a story, but they’re just vague, disconnected scenes or emotions. I can never bring it to an end. And I can’t seem to bring people from location to location in a way that doesn’t feel very awkward.

Sometimes I look back at the writing I’ve done in a day and I realize it’s nearly all dialogue. Is this just my sign to be a screenwriter?

Or is there another angle to telling a story I’m not seeing?

How does one go from being a shit storyteller to a good one?

oh my gosh, thank you for reading hdwtotl and reaching out!! and yes, i can absolutely help you out, i'll throw my thoughts + advice down under the cut <3

i've always struggled with exactly what you're describing until relatively recently. i could get the barebone structure of a story down (beginning, end, vague plot points, dialogue-only scenes, etc.) luckily you mentioned you have disconnected emotions as one of the building blocks, which is, imo the most important thing you can have as a writer.

all that writing is is having an emotion and using all the tools in your arsenal to make someone else experience that same emotion.

that's all it is. what you're describing re: pacing and progression are all valid concerns, but i think you should remove that from the equation for now and just focus on what certain plot ideas make you feel, and how to evoke that feeling in others. personally, i struggle with properly explaining myself UNLESS i'm writing fiction. like, i can't tell you what i'm feeling, but i can make you feel the same way, and in the end we're now on the same wavelength. i don't think that's THE way to write, but it's the way i approach it and i couldn't do it any other way.

as to how to grow/push past what you're specifically struggling with: i think what helped me the most to develop myself as a writer is write the world around you. if you saw a sunset over farm hills in late october, how would you describe that to depict the feeling it evoked in you? the chilliness, perhaps spookiness, the beauty WITH the context that it's ushering in darkness, the dying plants, the cows huddling for warmth, the sound of a passing train. both the material and the immaterial work together in tandem in fiction -- what does the narrator sense from both? do that until it becomes second nature; if i see something incredible irl, you best believe my mental typewriter is going nuts. (the bentley scene in chapter 11 of hdwtotl had existed in my brain for MONTHS sentence-by-sentence WITH paragraph breaks before i finally got it down lol)

so if i were you, that's what i'd work on first before trying to bring it bigger picture with a beginning-middle-end as i think your pacing will naturally develop from it as well. what do you see, how do you feel, and how can the reader come away with both of those things without having been where you are themselves. also single scene oneshots to get in some practice translating that to fictional spaces.

also ik i just sent one but i cannot pass up the chance to infodump about a story me and a friend are working on because let’s be real no one irl actually cares. it’s more of a concept so far, as in we’ve done a lot of world building but not much actual writing of the story.

so it’s about this kid called ellis who’s like 5/6? and she’s grown up in a giant house in the woods with a creature sewn together frankenstein-style from who knows what. she barely sees it, although it occasionally leaves dead animals on the large dining table for her to eat (it doesn’t have a very good concept of what human children might want to eat).

i’m the woods near her house lives a mountain spirit. they’re normally quite social creatures, who tend to live in large communities in cave systems and such, yet this one seems to be living alone. she keeps seeing it, and suspects it may be stealing her possessions (although it profusely denies these accusations).

nearby, in a nicer section of woodland, another girl called ruth lives with her parents in a cottage. she has never left these woods, and has never needed to, for her parents grow their own food and are probably vegan i guess so no need for anything else???????? it is always raining in these woods, because her parents angered a petty weather witch before ruth was born and she cursed the rain to forever follow them. ruth herself is cursed by a demon, who she believes to be her friend. seeing as she is also about 5, and her parents cannot see it, they have always assumed it to be her imaginary friend.

ellis’ mother was a witch, and when her child was stillborn, she made a deal with something (we haven’t decided what lol) that every year, until her child’s 4th birthday, she must bring another child as a sacrifice in return for her daughter to live. she had 4 years to spend with her child, and must then exchange her soul in return for ellis to live. knowing that she won’t be around to look after her much longer, she constructs a creature to look after ellis once she is gone.

also the demon haunting ruth is not her friend

there’s some other stuff, but the ideas aren’t fully constructed, and the story changes everytime i tell it haha

That actually sounds so cool. I’d love to read it if/when you guys finish it. I love odd and mysterious creatures. I’ve got a story I’m working on myself and I’m in a similar situation. I’ve got character designs, I know what I want the world to be like, I know what I want to happen in it, I just need to actually start writing.

Don’t worry about writing something too long either, I love reading about cool stories like this.

okay so the fact that MGG “loved” the Jeid storyline and AJ hated it, was based on the sounds of it actually extremely upset about it, seems super telling. I am probably grasping but seems to me a bit like something he might have pushed, which is gross and not a thing “friends” do when it was something that made his friend and coworker clearly upset and uncomfortable. Which I guess seems very fitting of their characters with Reid doing what he wants even if it upsets JJ.

but god how the actors and creators felt about it just makes me hate it even more and also hate MGG. Ugh. Ew. Poor AJ.

I don’t know much about MGG (or the actors’ friendship irl) but I feel like he was always just into the idea of JJ and Reid together from the beginning. Especially when it’s the whole “nerd boy x pretty girl” trope (I hate to say it lol). Idk if he jokes around with it bc of the unauthorized docs as an example and he jokes around a bunch in general, but I know he had a crush on AJ irl if I’m not mistaken.

AJ (from what it seems) in the early seasons didn’t have much against the idea bc she was curious of how it would’ve gone after that date (mostly bc the show wouldn’t emphasize much on characters’ personal lives). And she did admit herself that she saw them as more like siblings, but I think she jokes in a silly “what if they had hooked up” way and understood the show would never go there. Then over time, it seems like the way she talks about JJ and Reid’s friendship, she makes it clear that they’re only platonic friends.

I’m not a huge fan of MGG and for some reason, he doesn’t vibe so much with me. But I’m not sure if he’s the one that pushed for the prison storyline also and it was honestly unnecessary for the show (I think the reason was to put him in more dramatic scenes which to me is off bc he’s not so good of an actor haha). So it wouldn’t surprise me a lot that he wanted this jeid storyline and it makes no sense, like for what? For Reid’s closure on JJ “reciprocating” his feelings? It seems more like an opportunity for his to show off dramatic acting but let me tell you… he wasn’t even that great in the eps for jeid! In fact, AJ did way more work carrying the storyline she didn’t even want and was forced to perform. She did her job well and still hated it. And it makes me more mad too when Erica finally decided to go against even her own narrative of JJ and Reid being like siblings, just for more pain to Reid’s character (her profiting character). Little to no regard to how it will affect JJ’s character! And AJ thankfully knows her character well enough that it does not look good on her part (especially with the obvious fact that she’s married).

SEVENTEEN AS MY UNI CLASSMATES

A/N: I should be studying, but my mind is fried and I’m getting bored. I’m in graduate/professional school (i.e. not college - I’m not going to specify what program I’m in specifically because I’m not comfortable sharing, thanks for understanding) and I think one of the biggest culture shocks to me was the fact that socially, not much has changed since high school LMAO. There’s still drama, tea, stereotypes, etc. despite all of us being “grown-ups.” Anyways, these past couple days I’ve been thinking about what Seventeen would be like as my classmates and decided to share it with you all. 

This is just for shits and giggles - please don’t take it seriously, obviously I don’t know what they’re like IRL.

HIPHOP UNIT

Seungcheol: A kind upperclassman who I would just see around - in the hallway, at the library, at a party, by the sink. We'd either be friends or not to talk to each other at all. There is no in between.

Wonwoo: The quiet guy who sits in the back row of the auditorium during lectures and just focuses on his schoolwork. He just goes to school here and trying to get his degree - no more, no less. If I know him, it's because we had a project together and we’re just cordial.

Mingyu: THAT guy who is genuinely nice, smart, hardworking, well-known, and well-loved by everyone. He probably hangs out with the guys who like to lift and go to bars on Thursdays, and the gals would be all up in his space because he’s so emotionally in-tune and easy to talk to. Truly, however, he’d only has a couple friends he’d consider close and dear. Despite the fact that he is (one of) my bias(es), you’d never catch me by his side - I don’t like attention there are already too many people tryna pry and be a part of his life since he just radiates good vibes all around. I’d be admiring from afar lol. 

Vernon: HE IS A VIBE 🤩 MY PLATONIC SOULMATE! MY BFFL! We’d both be so aloof to the social climate at this school because we just want a peaceful school year and want NO part of the drama 😭 Catch us studying in the back corner, laughing at our own inside jokes. People watching is our hobby. During our free time we’d literally just be wandering the streets of university looking for cool restaurants/stores, maybe vibing to music, though our tastes would differ much here. 

PERFORMANCE UNIT

Soonyoung: Low-key, I could see us being good friends too 🤔 We’d bond over dance (yeah I dance 😳 - not well though LOL), the fact that we’re both technologically challenged, are a little slow to understand abstract concepts, and get distracted easily, but somehow, we make it by 😂 Also, outside of GoSe, he seems like a chill and quiet guy (he’s an INFP I think?), just opting to hang out at home, go on walks, watch TV, etc. I could do this - I’m not big on going out, though I’m not opposed to trying once in a blue moon.

Jun: There are 3 possibilities: 1) He’d be like Mingyu, 2) He’d be sweet and friendly, but keeps to himself, only letting a few people into his life, or 3) His inner Gemini will come out and he’d be kind, but just utter chaos - we’d never get group projects done. 

Minghao: A deep thinker, asks really good questions in class because he’s genuinely intrigued. I would just be in awe of him and his calm demeanor. #GOALS

Chan: Low-key, I feel like he’d be a milder version of Mingyu 🤔, in that he’d just be less extroverted? No one has anything bad to say about him. He’s CONFIDENT and he knows he’s good, but doesn’t feel the need to flaunt it. His actions speak for themselves. There is a slight chance we might be friends, but emphasis on the slight - less than 1%.

VOCAL UNIT

Jihoon: Similar to Wonwoo who just minds his own business, except for some reason, I would feel the urge to bother him and try to befriend him. He’d end up being so annoyed by me - that love-hate friendship where we lovingly throw shade at each other. 

Jeonghan: A school friend. Treats university like a 9 - 5 job. You will not catch him hanging out in the café in front of the lecture hall before class nor will he not stay after class to chat with you. Man’s gotta beat traffic. 

Joshua: Polite and “professional” nice (if that makes any sense), but you’ll never know what he really thinks about anyone 👀 Because of this, I would have a hard time trusting him and being his friend tbh 😭

Seokmin: He’d be that guy who’s genuinely kind to everyone and has no bad intentions 😭💔 Even if he doesn’t know you that well, he’ll strike up a conversation with you if he sees you sitting by yourself. It’d flow so smoothly and easily. He somehow remembers that you have a cat or you went to get your hair done last Thursday. You’d just leave with very good vibes 🥺

Seungkwan: By default because he’s so attached to Vernon, we’d also end up being friends. Even though he has no part in it, he’d know all the tea amongst our classmates and keep us updated. We would bicker frequently (lovingly ofc), maybe throw hands in the parking lot behind the university stadium on our way home because he told me it was disgusting to have pineapple on my pizza.

ugh nat i need help. i totally cant get over swiftwyn, like ever since they broke up I’ve been more heartbroken ab it than I think they themselves are lol. Okay SO I think you've analysed it very correctly - you're mourning something that existed in your head and it's difficult to get closure on something that's not yk real. For Taylor and Joe, breaking up was the result of falling out of love (which is normal but sad). For you, you're having to break up with Swiftwyn without ever falling out of love with them because, as you rightfully point out, you don't know them and weren't involved. You loved the concept (that's all other people's relationships can ever be if we're not somehow caught up in the middle of it). You don't have to stop loving the concept. It's not that different from idk The Doctor and Rose together or Meredith and McDreamy or idk that gay Supernatural ship.

So my advice is take a deep breath and allow yourself to still like them as a ship from when they're together. Them being broken up in 2023 doesn't mean you can't imagine 2016 them when Delicate comes on (if that's what pops into your head), same as you can picture Jake and Taylor when ATW plays and same as you can rewatch episodes of your favourite ships even when the couple later breaks up or idk the show ends.

Because we're operating with the concept, not with real life.

Now here's where it gets tricky though. We are liking concepts but dealing with real people - that's where liking celeb couples gets weird. So while it's perfectly okay to listen to Delicate and imagine the dive bar or look at the potato quality pap shots of them or whatever, what's not okay is harassing them or the recurrent "DAD COME BACK" jokes (which mostly stopped now that TK is around, which goes back to how this is concept not real life). Because like... they're real people who just got over each other and that's sad and I can't imagine dealing with my own issues and having strangers "mourning" it for me or telling me who I should date next. People are mad weird.

As for "love isn't real" - well, Hollywood love isn't really. The Notebook doesn't happen irl. I mean read this interview from Goldie about Kurt. Kurt and Goldie broke up/took separations in both 2000 and 2004. Then they realised that even though they pissed each other the fuck off, they're better off staying together, and here they still are now. One day, maybe they'll take another separation and stay apart after that. Who knows!?!?! NOT THEM. So certainly not us. Love is incredible and magical but it's also going to have ups and downs and require work and compromise and if the bad starts outweighing the good then it's time to find something else.

Cave Na’vi Clan Ideas

I’ve been kicking around the idea of a clan of Na’vi who makes their homes deep underground in cave systems and i’m currently in the vague ideation phase so any feedback/input would be appreciated! 

Clan name - Vawm’slär (literally dark cave smashed together lol)

Some basic ideas I have for the clan is that I would love for them to have big ol’ ears like a bat. Great hearing, but vision that is so-so by comparison. Those of this clan rarely leave their underground homes so their daytime vision is pretty poor but nighttime/dark vision is decent. Still nothing compared to their hearing.

As a result of their bat-like nature the Vawm’slär have developed a communication similar to echo location to communicate with one another over vast distances in the cave system as well as to better map out the caves they’re traveling in.

I’m torn on their skin - if it should be a dark blue or extremely light. Many animals irl that are born and spend their entire lives in caves have very pale complexions to the point where some of them are even entirely translucent. Alternatively a very dark complexion could be interesting to make them blend into the darkness of the cave better. I’m on the fence!

I think a good chunk of their culture would revolve around cave paintings. They would paint with bioluminescent paints that light up in complete darkness. Their clan’s history would illuminate the walls. They would also use the paint to help guide them through the caves by painting certain areas with painted markers.

I think overall they would be a very isolationist clan. Sure, they respect that they are connected to other Na’vi through Eywa and such but that doesn’t mean they go out to socialize much with their neighbors. I think very few would know of their existence and others would think they’re a myth. It would be very rare to see a Na’vi of this clan just walking around on the surface. They would probably seem very alien even to other Na’vi. 

Anyway these are just the basic thoughts and ideas I have so far! I’m open to feedback!

ok time for icarly edition of the big 3. it’s the layers of an onion. i talk abt the rising sign first bc that’s how u come across to others on first appearance, then the sun sign is like ur identity & shit, and your moon is ur deep emotional side. all of the icarly characters’ birthdays have been confirmed so yeah all of these sun signs are canon but the rising & moons are my wild guesses. imo these sun signs are ON POINT and the icarly writers or whoever the fuck did a good job picking the characters’ birthdays lol. except for spencer tho idk if scorpio would’ve been the best sign i’d pick for him. okie….

CARLY:

yeah carly is DEF a libra rising she comes across super nice, sweet, polite, & friendly and she’s always mediating conflicts when sam & freddie are fighting LOL. but yeah when u peel back the onion she’s a canon leo (her bday is july 24) bc when u get to know carly better she’s not as sweet as she seems and she’s actually rlly bitchy and bossy AF like a leo LOL. (which is why her & sam get along bc sam is an aries which is also a fire sign so that’s why carly enables sam’s cruelty and bad attitude sometimes AND why they both like to be in the spotlight). she’s a total diva & an egomaniac bc the bitch named the webshow after herself and thinks it’s all about her (look i know how to make fun of my own sign isn’t it great how we leos know how to take a joke) & carly is a HUGE leader too. i’m also a libra rising leo sun so i have the same problem where i come across all nice & sweet at first to most people but then when they discover my leo they realize how much of a cunt i rlly am LOL (and then they hate me bc they thought i was someone they could use & manipulate at first but then they discover i’m not so they’re like oh shit bye i’m done with you). i feel like most of us leos are like carly we’re all nice & friendly and shit but we’re not afraid to let out the sass and be mean if we have to which is carly af LOL. and then carly is a capricorn moon which explains why she’s def the responsible one of the group. carly is rlly mature for her age and has her shit together considering the fact she’s always the one who ends up parenting spencer and not the other way around.

sam def gives me earth rising vibes so i feel like she’s a taurus rising. sam comes across rlly dependable and loyal (she sticks by carly’s side through thick and thin) and sam keeps shit real too like a taurus. AND she loves food too LOL. but yeah peeling back the onion she’s DEF an aries which is EXTREMELY fitting bc they’re the aggressive, feisty, impulsive ones of the zodiac and that’s literally sam’s entire character. but yeah peeling back the onion even MORE i think sam is a cancer moon bc deep down sam is sensitive AF like a cancer and she’s rlly intuitive too which is why she’s so manipulative in so many episodes LOL. jennette mccurdy is a cancer irl so i feel like there’s a lot of cancer vibes in sam’s character too. it also makes her aries outbursts like 100x more volatile and emotional bc of all the mood swings she has. sam is a rlly caring person she just doesn’t like to show it prob bc of her aries sun lol. yeah he’s def a virgo rising. freddie comes across rlly brainy and analytical & he’s extremely dependable too and quick to lend a hand and help someone out if they need it. peeling back the onion he’s actually an aquarius which is fitting AF. freddie is a total tech nerd and aquariuses are the innovators of the zodiac lol & he’s rlly aloof and overly logical abt shit but freddie is still rlly friendly, nice, & easygoing like a typical aquarius. but deep down freddie is a pisces moon bc freddie is sensitive AF and gets butthurt easily lol. he’s a rlly passive person and he gets pushed around easily and taken advantage of like a pisces which was why he let carly string him along for 47373892 years and let sam bully the shit out of him LOL. freddie is too nice for his own good and has a total martyr complex bc he helps bitches too much who don’t deserve his help.

SPENCER:

One of the biggest things that annoys me is when people are passive aggressive or don’t intentionally say what they mean. Something that I don’t talk very much about here online is that I’m neuro-divergent. I have both ADHD and Autism, and sometimes it can be difficult for me to understand intention behind people’s words both written and verbally communicated. I can get easily frustrated with people who don’t say what they really mean but expect me to know better. 

My current favorite song is “Nerdy Love” by pH-1 & Yerin Baek. It’s catchy and upbeat! lol

I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished too much being part of the Naruto RPC, but I did write a post about something here. I also wrote one for something I dislike about being part of the RPC there, too. 

I’ve made a lot of friends here within the RPC, but I’ll talk about one in particular. Unfortunately, they’re no longer RPing and we’ve lost touch with one another over the years, but I hope they’re doing well. Her name was J, or Julia. They had an amazing portrayal of Kakashi Hatake and they were one of the first writers I interacted with here on Tumblr. Have you ever had an amazing connection with someone where the writing almost mirrors one another’s and flows, and the muses just have this amazing chemistry together? Well, that was what it was like writing with Julia. She wrote wonderfully and we wrote a lot. I consider her a great friend and I miss her, but I look on those memories of writing with her very fondly. They were some of my happiest and greatest, too. 😌

My most depressing moment while writing for this community would probably have to be when a friend of mine decided they no longer wanted to ship with my character. The ship had become one-sided on my end where I was enjoying it, but my friend wasn’t, and to be honest, I was pretty sad about it, although entirely understanding. I’ve wanted to explore other AUs where perhaps the ship could continue on, but it doesn’t seem like that will happen and that’s perfectly okay. Naturally, I mourned over it like the sad sack I am and then carried on. lol No one should sacrifice their muse for the sake of a ship.

My most embarrassing would probably have to be writing my first somewhat spicy RP here on Tumblr. I came from a different platform where we had private chats or would roleplay through Google Docs, so the thought of writing smutty RPs for the entire world to see was something I had to get use to.  😅 😂

Aaaaaaaa you’re so sweet I hope you enjoy the novel!!!🫶Its A Lot and I won’t pretend like it’s not lol. But I love it so much, I think Stephen King is a genius and IT is an insane masterpiece.

As for Bill❤️❤️❤️my son. I adore him so so much, and I wish he was appreciated more. I think a lot of the movie fans didn’t like him bc they watered down his character A Lot in the movie. You only really get a glimpse of the real Bill (novel Bill imo) in IT 2017&2019. The movies watered down all of the characters (which is a whole separate conversation — I could probably have a rant like this for each of the Losers) but it’s especially a shame with Bill since he’s the main character and the audience misses out on so many of his key traits.

The novel makes a point of making sure the reader knows Bill would die protecting his friends and that all the Losers are in this together. They all actively want to kill It and want to protect each other. One of my biggest problems with the movie is how much the Losers fight and how at times they don’t even seem to like each other?? It literally counteracts all of their characters traits in the novel and what’s important about their friendship.

I do think the fandom has grown to love & appreciate Bill more since when I first joined. The Bill hate used to be sooo bad, but it seems to have died down mostly. I don’t think he deserves the hate he gets. And tbh I think a lot of people would have liked him more if the movies did a better job of actually showing his personality and not giving him such a bad case of main character syndrome. I actually think it’s so funny bc every time I talk to someone irl who likes IT they always adore book Bill but they’re always like “yeah idk why the movies fucked him over so bad??” Bc in the movies you don’t see ANY of his personality if it doesn’t directly support the plot (finding Georgie, convincing his friends to go after It) whereas in the book he has so much personality and so much bravery and charisma. I also wanna be clear I love movie Bill!! I just think the writing did him a hugeee disservice.

And anon I loveee the hc that all the Losers are in love with Bill I think it’s so so so funny bc Bill is 100% oblivious to it. All the Losers are watching him like wowww🥰he’s so brave and handsome look at our fearless leader. Meanwhile Bill is like guys look at this cool frog I found do you wanna hold the frog. Heart of gold. Dumb of ass. But seriously, even if the losers love for him wasn’t romantic, I do think they loved him and looked up to him. And I think he loved them and looked up to all of them just as much. The losers love for each other is such a core part of the story, it’s what makes the story so beautiful. It’s this wonderful mix of horror and love and childlike wonder and the harsh realities of the world.

A lot of the time I stay up so late that I fall asleep without even meaning to but if I can’t sleep then sleep aids or sad music do the trick more often than not. And if we’re talking about positions I always sleep on my side with like one leg up. I know it’s bad for your back but it’s sooo comfy.

What redacted boy holds no appeal to you and why?

Ollie is probably my least listened to. He seems like a really sweet character but I just can’t seem to get into his videos, I would say it might be because they’re more mundane than the others but my other two least faves (out of the love interests) are probably Gavin and Vincent so that doesn’t add up.

Tell me about the one book/movie/tv show you know all the words too.

Bojack Horseman. I think the shows really clever and I often find myself rewatching and finding new details every-time. I think it’s a bit of a comfort which is strange since the main character is basically always in trouble for something but a lot of the characters talk about relatable things that I’d never seen anyone else mention before.

If you had to change your name what would it be and why?

Laurie. My mum wanted to name me that when I was born but my dad didn’t like it. I prefer it to my irl name so probably that. I’ve also always liked the name Parker.

Huxley. I’m not too sure why I think it’s cause he’s so easy going. I love camping and also find myself a digging holes a lot so that could also be a reason lol but if I could hang out with any redacted character it would definitely be him.

Besides my favourite characters entire playlist. I’d say either the inversion or Aaron’s sleep aid. I really like the inversion I just think the story telling and emotions are amazing and you get to hear so many different characters. And there’s just something about Aaron’s sleep aid that make me feel happy. I think it’s the way Smartass falls asleep in the chair with him.

Hmm, this was a thunker, since Four and Eight are a really interesting combination. What I think they have in common is an intelligent independence, a self-reliance that Elliott could really work with.

Both Fours and Eights seem to be characterized by a strong sense of identity- they have an unshakable confidence in who they are and who they want to be. Elliott strikes me as an excellent partner for this type of person, because he’s very supportive and loving in his own genial, earnest way, if you know what I mean? He would be neither overbearing nor neglectful. Elliott would just always be by your side, encouraging and kind and ready to support you however and whenever you may need.

Additionally, I think you and Elliott would like a lot of the same things~ You mentioned loving camping, which reminded me of the dreamscape he made with the campfire by the lake and made me picture of the two of you going together, fighting over who gets to control the aux cord on the way there. I can also see him coming over on another normal Friday night and ready to settle in for a night of watching your favorite show together.

Elliott strikes me as a The Neighbourhood boy, and I cannot put into words why. He just is. I like this song for him in particular because the vibes and tone of it are so romantic and dreamy (pun intended). It’s the kind of song on the kind of playlist he’d have for your nights together- chill, lo-fi kind of tunes that would play while you talk through the night or fall asleep together.

Runner-Ups:

Damien was definitely a contender for runner-up. Other than the Enneagram type, where I think of Damien as a Six, I think y’all have a lot of similarities like your sleep hygiene and the type of shows you like. James strikes me as another good match because of his stable, solid temperament that I think would match well with a thoughtful, independent partner.

Okay obx after season one feels super kid show like to me it’s literally an ma show but they don’t cuss anymore or anything also certain actors for the show literally seem so over this show as a whole like they didn’t go to a ton of interviews for the show this season and the whole pougelandia speech they had Sarah do was weird to me and I wish they didn’t put jj and kie together so unnecessary to do that cause no everyone in the group is dating and I doubt they’ll break any of them up the writing was good season 1 then it went downhill after but also I don’t really like the show either because everyone from the show in real life Is problematic or dating or hangs with problematic people like it’s crazy how famous they all are now and how many followers they have 2020 right after the show came out when everyone were friends was the vibe anything after like right after it came out the vibes were gone the new season gave me like shows I watched when I was young I also don’t think any of them act very well

There is a lot to unpack here but I’m gonna try lol…

I don’t necessarily feel like the last season of obx felt like it was for kids so much as I felt like they were trying to be more family friendly. I think with the first season the idea was that the show was for like teens/young adults. After it took off and really got popular I think the Pate’s and Netflix realized it was whole families that were watching together, not just the demographic they intended to appeal to. I mean, I’ve watched some really great kids shows on Netflix (Anne with an E, Julie and the Phantoms, Babysitter’s Club, She-ra) and just because no one really curses on obx and there aren’t any explicit scenes doesn’t make it a kids show. I curse a lot irl but I don’t think that cursing has ever added to a tv show (language is vast and unending, you don’t need to say fuck twenty times to get your message across and if you do that’s just bad writing).

I obviously can’t speak to actors’ decisions not to do every interview but I’d imagine that some of it had to do with scheduling conflicts. Like yeah, for the majority of them OBX was their first major show but it’s not the only show they’re ever gonna work on. I mean Madelyn Cline alone has a lot going on, and I know Rudy has done one or two other things besides OBX, it stands to reason that they aren’t just sitting around waiting for interviews post-filming and that they have other job obligations. I also don’t really think not being on an interview is proof that they’re “over” the show. Maybe they are but also they’re making a shit-ton of money so I’m sure they can suck it up and be professional.

Story wise, I’ll agree that I didn’t really love this season, which I’ve definitely said multiple times. It just didn’t have the same vibes as season one. I’ll agree too that I didn’t love the Poguelandia speech or even the idea that Poguelandia (which is a stupid name, thanks JJ) was paradise on Earth. I can’t go on vacation with someone for longer than three days without absolutely losing my shit (and I know that’s just my autistic ass not transitioning well but you can’t tell me getting stranded on a deserted island was all good times…I’ve seen Castaway).

I think the Kiara/JJ storyline was all fan service. Which like, on the one hand I love fan service. But you know who does fan service well? Pysch. After season one I think the vast majority of the fandom wanted Jiara to happen but the Pate’s had already written Kiara getting with Pope and weren’t prepared to amend that who season one ending in season two just for the fans. But obviously in season three the fans won and Jiara became a thing (I’m still holding a candle for JJ/Pope).

As far as the cast being problematic…as I said earlier, this show got way bigger than anyone could’ve known and this was the first major show for a lot of this cast. When you become that famous that quickly you aren’t gonna make everyone happy all the time and you don’t have a team of people curating everything you do and say. Also I hate this idea that someone is problematic and we immediately can’t like them anymore like…there just needs to be some definition to the term or something.

Yeah I’m sure some 20-somethings who are suddenly super famous and who exist in a timeline where everyone strives to know everything about you all the time aren’t going to have the most spot-free reputation but unless they like actively murdered someone/assaulted someone/are antisemitic/racist/homophobic/transphobic/Islamophobic etc. I’m not gonna subscribe to this idea that you can’t like their work because they’re problematic. (Harry Styles is problematic but everyone loves him…I love Taylor Swift. Is she problematic? Yeah, a lot of the time). People are people and they aren’t perfect. And expecting a 20 year old that suddenly has hundreds of thousands of followers to be is insane.

And finally, I disagree that none of them can act. As I’ve said before, I think Madelyn Cline and Drew Starkey are their most talented actors. Jonathan Daviss and Rudy Pankow are also fantastic actors and they’ve really had some excellent scenes where I’m just blown away by their talent. So I wouldn’t ever say none of them can act.
