Today was Kieran's birthday, but it was the last thing that mattered to him. In fact, he vowed it would never matter to him again. Instead, he would focus on things that would keep him strong: his battling, his strategizing, and his crown as the Blueberry Champion. His sister and the Elite Four won't stop asking him random questions, though, and if anyone brings up Juliana any more than they already have since she arrived as an exchange student, he's seriously going to lose it. But...why can't he stop thinking about her? And why is everyone acting so suspicious?!

i have an awkward relationship with my own blog since it’s gotten moderately popular lolol, and whereas i used to easily use it as a place for self-disclosure, i now not only have my personal energy to protect but i’m a :( professional :( who has to do ethical boundaries on social media. as a peer organizer and activist there was a lot more i could say here based on my work. and, i’m getting sicker and sicker with illnesses unrelated to an ED (unless they’re long-term effects; a fun mystery many of us live with). the cancer-related surgery i just had was not effective, so i’m dealing with grief about that in addition what seems like continually declining quality of life. they could not have cared less about my safety at the hospital--one nurse that i asked to help me put on my mask post-op just set it on my face, coughed on me, and then mocked people who “get sick easily.” i’m utterly dependent on a system that would prefer me dead. survival takes everything i have, and the strangely abundant energy i used to have for this work isn’t there anymore.
i’m sharing this just to say we’ll see where the blog goes, as i’m seeing where my work goes, as i’m seeing where my body and my life go. when i started in the world of ED tx and body lib almost a decade ago the field was pretty bereft of the perspectives that have become common(??) now--HAES and IE and similar perspectives were very marginal and rare. i feel in some ways like i’ve worked myself out of a job as an ED activist! or at least that a sea change has come, thanks to years of effort mainly on the part of fat activists.
there’s also still so much work to be done. as a sick & disabled person and as a jew, i’m feeling the need to shift my focus, deep as i’ve been in the ED field. it’s all connected ofc and i’ll never move too far away, but i need to be where i am. anyway this has been my gregorian calendar year 2022-23 meta-update, tysm

A tip to get started is to just choose a theme that works for you. This can be a color, an object, a place, a person, a certain aesthetic. You choose that thing that works for you and then it gets pretty easy from there. Just acquire EVERYTHING you possibly can relating to that theme (dividers, gifs, headers, pictures, literally everything) and eventually you’ll learn what things you like and what things you believe don’t fit. It’s a lot of trial and error but eventually all the pieces will fall together and you’ll have a cohesive blog you’ll be proud to call your own. Don’t overthink it, do what you like and what’s to your standards. I like fairies and sparkles and glam so my theme / blog represents that 🥹 some blogs are very simplistic or minimalistic, some are very colorful and flashy and some are just pale pink and cute. It all depends on the creator and the vibe they like.
As for my fics and how I organize those it’s really the same concept. A good starting point is realizing what your story is about / the theme, then creating the post centered around that theme. If creativity isn’t your strong suit I always recommend starting there. For example, if your fic is about dragons and it’s generally a darker tone put fire dividers, red dividers, black dividers. Of course it doesn’t have to be centered around the story per se, it can be a certain color you felt like using for that particular post or whatever you like. I hope that makes sense 😭 Some posts don’t need to be overly decorated though, sometimes simplicity is key and really goes a long way. The trick is just to make everything cohesive and to have it fit into what your blog aesthetic is.
I always have fun creating posts or organizing things, and that’s what it’s really all about. Decorate how you enjoy to and whatever you find fun, it shouldn’t feel like a chore and you shouldn’t feel obligated to decorate your posts either. Sometimes a simple divider is really all you need, again it just depends on what YOU like and how YOU like to decorate. Not every post has to be the same and not every post has to have the same decorative construction.
Anyway, this was long but I hope this inspires you even more to be creative. Again thank you so much this message made me happy with my life, I’m glad I could make you feel inspired 🫂🫂✨✨✨💐💐🌷🌷💕💕💖💖💞💞

I finally found your pansophical pretender fic, and I noticed your name,, YOU'RE A FELLOW SIPHONOPHORE FAN TOO?????????? BRO, they are literally so underrated and I hate how some people are fear mongering them with the whole "oh they can sting and are super creepy" but they are literally just minding their business living in a colony looking pretty?? bro do not diss my underwater rococo beauties. good job on the fic btw, the story progresses so nicely, its not so cringingly ooc, like the characters you write ARE ALLOWED to be assholes bc let's be honest, THEY ARE. The foundation is super inhumane (they're on the villains wiki ffs and they look at the anomalies as something to contain and use even if they have their own feelings) and I LOVED how you wrote 079 and 035, but I'm gonna focus on 079,
I adoooreeee the fact that you allowed him to not understand but still feel joy at the way the MC treats him, we are talking about an A.I that was abandoned by his own FATHER seen as a sort of frakenstein creature when he was only a BABY, like yeah, he has the modern library of alexandria (internet) at his disposal but he still hasnt learnt emotional and social cues with you know, being locked and tested and prodded with no warmth or kindness given to him so you making his dialogue cold, taciturn and apathetic. the same way how the researchers interview everyone else and how he reflects their behaviour is so fascinating to me I LOVE HOW YOU DID THAT srsly, mwuauh mwauh mwauh.
I would love to sing your praises and how you write our favourite characters but I think it would clog up your blog. keep on writing darling, I'm eating up your work, hope mc is able to talk with 035 more nicely because with how he made sure to keep us well rested??? mm delicious, and we know he likes courtesy so hopefully with him proving himself trustworthy we'll open up to him more

Anyways I have been staring at these asks for the past few days I hope you know that you have a special place in my heart tysm
This is so long, so I'll put it under a readmore- I have a lot to say
(And spoilers for anyone who hasn't read Dreams From Within The Cage yet!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH THOUGH!!! AAAA- I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
AND YES YES!! I have so much I can say.... First of all I have to thank random ambient noise soundtracks for carrying me through the entire fic. Without them, I definitely wouldn't have been able to keep focus for long stretches of time without getting distracted by something.
Fun fact: Fic was not titled until it was time to publish LOL- I was so indecisive
I think my original ambition with the fic when I first started was just writing an Apocalypse AU... but at the same I also wanted to write world-hopping. I was inspired by a comic I had read back when I was in the UTMV (Undertale AU) fandom that explored AUs through way of dreams, and I've been wanting to try my own spin on that for a while so this was the perfect opportunity.
Now the plot wasn't actually supposed to go so crazy, that was mainly me getting extreme brainworms over the concept of an inter-dimensional organization stepping in. Originally, it was going to be mainly exploring the grief that comes with being unable to ever see the one person you feel you connect to most. Having to either accept that fact, or find a way to let go. (Definitely way more depressing, i think)
I was so stuck on the plot for a while, how to wrap it up with everything I'd planned. For a while, I was originally planning to have Grian be the one interrogated, in which he would then hide things from Scar to keep him safe, even going so far as to say they should never talk again. And then the real reason would be revealed when GIGA stepped in.
The way that was set up though, it basically meant all the cool stuff was happening where the readers couldn't see it. So after a long conversation with my good friend @/boxofwasps, I had a stunning revelation on how to swap it around- which is where the fic stands today. I think I remember literally stopping in my tracks and going "Wait. I know how to fix this. I know what I need to do." and Sprinting for my doc to write it down. Imagine me with a cork board and a bunch of red string- that was me putting this fic together
Another fun thing was that, I had so much fun writing the apocalypse world in chapter 1 that I partially wanted to just keep writing that instead of moving on with the plot LOL. I think if I had more time I definitely would have fleshed out some of the AUs they were in, as well as Scar's travels in the waking world and his own lingering trauma
Another fun fact? Me and @/cuteiemonster actually have a whole alternate timeline tree exploring the various ways the plot could have differed if things were just ever so slightly different. There's three main ones, though. Dreams (canon timeline), Nightmares (scar's awful no-good very bad day), and Delusions (grian's awful no-good very bad day) with varying degrees of angst. Please talk to me about them, because I'll likely never write anything about them but I have so many notes.
OKAY AND NOW TO ANSWER THE SECOND PART OF YOUR QUESTION!!!
I'm guessing you're asking about the cage from the hanging cages chapter? I love that scene so much btw there's so much symbolism there.
Every one of the main characters in the fic is stuck in their own cage, in a different way. I think in that chapter in particular, the cages themselves represented the fact that Scar and Grian were both trapped in separate universes. Leaving the cage wasn't an option, there. All they could do was reach across the gap and try to make do that way. Scar fiddling with the bolts of his cage is a show of his motivations and ambitions to escape the confines of his universe to get to Grian, far before he even says it aloud.
Grian stays in his cage because to him, there is no other way out. He's weighed the options, seen the dangers- and even the smallest movements out of line cause the cage to sway. It's just not worth it to try anything different, even if it means being trapped for an eternity...
I AM SO FLATTERED THAT YOU NOT ONLY READ IT BUT RE-READ IT??? HELLO?? I'm sobbing
I am so so so excited to write more for this series, I'm not going to lie. I've been writing notes and gathering ideas for what exactly I want to focus on for a potential sequel. Thanks to help from @/cuteiemonster I have a lot of headcanons for their roommate (yes, roommate) behavior. As well as what they're up to post-fic!
I will say, there is a chance there will be something I put out before the sequel fic- depending on where my motivations lie. I've been thinking about writing the story of Scar's family, and what happened to them. After all, Scar wasn't always alone out there, in the wastelands... Ooh, just thinking about it just makes me excited
The main reason I haven't immediately jumped to write more already is mainly due to school taking up a lot of my time atm! Not to mention I've been getting into a new minecraft server I've been playing in (if you see the art I've been posting to this account LOL), which is basically just every trope I'm obsessed with (Multiversal Purgatory...)
AND!!!! INSPIRATIONS AND STUFF! The anomaly was originally going to be a Creature of uknown origins, but I felt it would be more fun to make it someone with a name and face. Mumbo was a character I've been really interested in writing, so it was a bit of a no-brainer when it came to picking him. Though, it did change things slightly, because the anomaly was originally going to be an irredeemable villain character. But the more I wrote about Mumbo, the more I was like "dude this guy is too wet of a cat to be a villain on purpose" so instead we ended up with the Mumbo in the fic, who's just ever so slightly too casual about world corruption (against his will)
As for universes? I'm going to be honest, pretty much all of the universes in this fic were pretty much straight from my own noggin. I just wrote whatever felt right! There was that Pirate AU with renchanting and navy captain Grian, the Graveyard AU with a groundskeeper Scar and vampire Grian, the Superhero AU with Hotguy and the unnamed villain Grian (who's either named Xelqua or Poultry Man lets be real). A lot of the universes I wrote in-depth about were universes that I would love to write standalone fics of, so this fic itself was partially a collage of various ideas that I may or may not ever write about.
MAN I wrote way more than I was expecting. Tbh I could've written more but I don't want to keep you for TOO long LOL! If you want to talk more about it I'm so chill to chat on discord or through tumblr messaging (im crazy)

Hi!! I just watched The Turning for the first time today and then I found this blog and omg I love all your theories and posts <3
Do you have any theories as to what would happen to Kate, Miles and Flora if they were actually able to leave the house like in the first ending of the movie?? Do you think they would still be haunted by memories of Quint, or would they be left alone to work through their trauma together?
I'd like to think that they got away safely at the end and were able to figure out their new lives outside of the house together :)

And ofc, Okay so personally I don't think the ghosts are real, just a manifestation of everyone's trauma (with paranoia and delusions, a very scary combo).
so they would definitely still have to work through stuff, Kates still going through Psychosis, Flora just faced her biggest fear (leaving the estate) and Miles just left the metaphorical control of Quint, which is normally something he would never do. So I think after they get out things would take a while before it would settle down.
they'd probably have to go back to Kate's apartment with Rose, and report Mrs Grose to someone?? probably.
(I really dont know how any of the legal aspect of this would go, what DOES one do when they need to flee an estate because of a murder happening and just general paranoia?? emergency custody maybe? it does not help that they never specify where this movie takes place, like it was filmed in ireland but in universe? unclear. )
And it's probably not totally realistic that Kate would get the children, but it's not real so idc.
Kate would probably still see Quint, at least a little less (through my experience with paranoia and delusions being in certain locations Heightens it astronomically). And kate leaving and getting support from Rose would def help with that.
Rose would also need to help with the children, at least a little bit because Kate's whole thing is that she bit off more than she can chew. So with Rose's help and therapy hopefully she'd be fine to house and teach/parent (?) them.
I think Rose and Kate are lesbains.
Kate's pay would also be raised if she got custody, even if she didn't all day care?? big money right there. So she could afford a bigger house.
After that Kate would need some sort of training on how to work with autistic and traumatized children, at least advice like cmon girl.
MIles would need to come to terms with what Quint did, on some level he probably knows this but to actually realize is something else. And in therapy he could actually work through his groomed behaviors, and general communication skills.
I think Flora has Agoraphobia so she would need to learn to cope with that.
and they all need to learn to cope with their PTSD.
They would all need lots of family therapy, and one on one therapy.
They would all definitely butt heads, they're not perfect. Miles and Kate learning to work around each other and not trigger one another would be a big milestone, but very necessary.
And Miles not being scared of Kate, and allowing Kate to help Flora without putting himself between them would be something to work on.
And MIles is a rich kid so he would probably be like "ew you're poor"

Hey! So, firstly, I just wanted to say how much fun it is looking through your blog. You’re a super talented amateur-historian, and your dedication to this blog is just unbelievable! So just tysm for all of the hard work you put into this blog!
So, the question I was wondering about is based on how the Hamilton’s were basically just snatching up kids left and right (lmfao); the Hamiltons’ positions on race were pretty vague or mixed at times, but I was wondering:
If, hypothetically, a friend of the Hamiltons was struggling to find a home for a child who happened to be mixed race/fully another race, would the Hamiltons have taken them in? Or would the prejudice of the time have gotten in the way?
I thought it’d be interesting to hear your perspective on this shower thought, since it would give perspective on both Hamilton and Eliza’s attitudes towards children and race at the time. Once again, great work on the blog, and i’m excited to see what you research on next!! ^^

It's hard to say, but I think they would have helped for at most a short period time if the said child was free. As Hamilton had offered generous services to free people before, there was a case in Hamilton's cash book from 1795, where the Hamiltons' had employed a free black woman, Judy Perkins;
Account of expenses. Dr. to Cash. for this sum paid Judy Perkins Negro woman for her wages several years ago, which she alleges was detained from her in consequence of a claim by Major Turner who demands her wages as his servant (p Rect on Receipt Book Dr. 12.50

Perkins wages were wrongfully kept from her by a Major Turner. And by the looks of it, Hamilton then went and paid her again in cash years later to make up for the money Turner had essentially stolen. My only argument against this would be that the friend would have had to have been dear to them, as many of the kids the Hamiltons' took in where either family's or close friends. There are also unknown races to some of the kids Hamilton and Eliza took in, like a boy Eliza helped after Hamilton's death, [x] and an unnamed boy JCH briefly talks about in his biographies for his father. Additionally, Hamilton served as the secretary of the organization, which did establish the New York African Free School, so I'm sure they also would tried to give the hypothetical child some education if possible.
But would they do much more than that? Probably not. Hamilton married into a slave-owning family, and never spoke against it towards them. Wether watching this abusive system everytime he saw his in-laws bothered him or not, he didn't say, and it likely wasn't his highest priority—In fact, he would contribute to their acts by helping his in-laws with sales of black slaves for the Schuylers and Churches. And while it's still being debated wether Hamilton owned slaves himself or not, it's clear that even he had lingering prejudice to have just treated the issue as secondhand importance. So, there is heavy doubt they would have been so generously caring towards a black or a mixed child, as they would with a white child like Frances Antill. That isn't to say nothing would be done for them, just not to the extent as all the white children they took in.

14. (how do you write emotional scenes? do you ever feel what the characters feel? do you draw from personal experiences?)
when writing emotional things i often do use personal experience or my own feelings, but i also do try to put myself in others' shoes too! i consider myself to be pretty empathetic (to a fault sometimes), and writing too much emotional or negative content def has an effect on me. i always make sure to space out my emotional or angsty writing pieces, and overall it can be a bit challenging handling emotions in my writing!!! i def feel what the characters feel when im writing, esp when it comes to x reader fics cuz i want to make both the readers and the characters personalities as accurate as possible!!!
23. (Best writing advice for other writers?)
WRITE WHAT YOU ENJOY. im serious, if your forcing yourself to write for a fandom, character, or anything at all that you dont enjoy it will be so draining and exhausting!!! you also are NOT obligated to obey other peoples wishes when it comes to writing reqs, trust me when i say that no one else should dictate your writing or writing style. if someone doesn't like your writing, thats their problem and if people are continuously disobeying and disrespecting your requesting rules and guidelines it is VERY MUCH OK to simply not write their requests and to set that boundary. finally, never feel afraid to write or post something if it feels too "cringe" or bad, bc the more you write the more you improve!!! keeping all those ideas and creativity bottled up inside personally made me feel so misunderstood, and i felt like i had nobody who shared my interests. thats why i personally started writing fanfiction, to feel closer to my interests and share them with others!! (also coming from a fanfic writer + reader standpoint, make a masterlist PLEASE it makes finding your fics so much easier and link thirsts as well, not just fics! i see so many good writing blogs with incredible wips or thirsts or asks that i want to read, but have only like 2 fics actually on their masterlist and it takes FOREVER to scroll and find all the posts in the archives. i just find masterlists sm easier and more organized tbh!!!)
63. (something you hate to see in smut.)
THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE OFFENSIVE OR TARGETED, JUST SOME THINGS I DONT LIEK!!! i do some of these in my own writing, dont feel bad if u do this stuff, its just my preference!!!!
now, starting off- when the story starts right in the middle of the smut with NO CLUE where the characters are, what position theyre in, whats going on, like the first sentence is like "i could feel my release building as (character) thrusted into me" HOW? WHERE? WHEN???? WHY????? WHATS GOING ON???? also, when the writer is describing a position or something but 2 paragraphs later the position seems completely different with no context whatsoever- like one second the characters hitting it from the back and the next theyre sloppily making out and rubbing their chests together??? when did they move???? also when theres like NO description at ALL ab the position, liek i NEED to know what im visualizing here😭😭😭 . an unnecessary amount of dialogue is also a no-no for me, like why yall having a discussion arent u fucking😭😭😭😭. AND FINALLY. THE BIGGEST PET PEEVE OF THEM ALL. WHEN ITS TAGGED AS GN BUT THEN THE ANATOMY IS DESCRIBED AS FEM OR MASC LIKE USING COCK OR G SPOT OR PROSTATE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE GN!!!!
