Furina having some cute little particular spot/tactic which makes her let out the cutest, sweetest giggles with snorts in between and navia is so in love with that laugh that she lightheartedly Abuses that spot shkddhh for example like Furina's bellybutton or pressing soft little raspberries on her belly has her writhing, red painted on her face and a huge wobbly smile, soft giggles and whines followed by little snorts, and navia has to physically hold herself back from kissing furina while she's all giggly like that (she failed)

Picking up where we left off…

In the immediate aftermath of the Incident, Dream and his brother manage to escape the facility. But things are not okay yet.

The developers had tried to remove the part of Nightmare that had learned what it meant to care for others; what they ended up doing was a soft memory wipe.

When you perform a soft memory wipe on a bot, there is a short window in which it’s possible for them to recover the files that you’re trying to overwrite. Dream could not have known this. And with what little freedom he had, he did not have the time he needed to pull off a miracle.

And so what happens is that while bits and pieces of Nightmare’s old personality slowly re-awaken, his memories do not. He doesn’t remember his bond with Dream, (on Dream's end, they've been introduced to each other twice. on Nightmare's, only once) he doesn’t remember all the times he held back or why Dream hesitates now, and he certainly doesn’t remember the old handler he was once so fond of. (Who has since gone missing.) But he possesses information he can't explain. There are commands deep within his archives that contradict themselves. Pathways that lead no where. Orphaned strings of code.

Nightmare feels like he’s been used but he can’t tell by whom. This state of confusion, and the feeling that he is missing large chunks of his own mind, is what leads to the break out and all the violence that occurres during it.

When they finally escape the facility, that alliance ends. In Nightmare's mind, Dream is still an enemy. He is labeled as a threat in his files. (Dream was a participate in the violence done to him. And because he knows he was also a participate in the violence done to Dream, he doesn't understand Dream's insistence on following him anyway, or likewise why Dream helped him escape.)

Nightmare can't trust another bot anymore than he trusts a human. He needs time to sort himself out. Patch himself up and preferably that needs to be done as far away from humans and their constructs as possible, and that includes Dream. They go their separate ways; by which I mean Nightmare warns Dream not to follow him or else. Devastated, Dream lets him go. He tells himself to be content with the knowledge that at least his brother is free. They both are. He has to be happy with that...

He is left alone until the day he meets Ink and Blue.

random midnight ramblings but.... its tragic how difficult it is to effectively pull off a jealous!mikan plot in au fanfics, not bc mikan hasnt been jealous (bc she HAS and HOW) but bc natsume is so devastatingly a one-girl-only kind of guy that its hard to put him in a realistic situation where mikan would be jealous in a meaningful way.

like in the sports fest arc, natsume is forced into pretending to date (?) luna. he holds her hand and spends all his time with her, meaning that mikan HAS to confront her feelings in a way she didnt have to before. its a pretty big deal in terms of her storyline, but natsume had to be forced into that situation for it to actually play out. otherwise, he'd never leave mikan's side.

and that's pretty much the biggest problem for fanfic writers who wanna explore that aspect of jealousy: how to realistically have that storyline play out in a world where natsume is not in the da class/a child soldier. how to get natsume, who is ultimately only interested in mikan when it comes to romance, to even glance at another girl without it being forced.

it's very weird to think about and i think it's part of the reason why i've never really liked the idea of natsume having ex-girlfriends who actually meant something. narratively, i'd honestly rather have natsume be a playboy and y'all know i dislike playboy!natsume so much.... at least if it's some sort of ridiculous serial dating without any real feelings involved it stays true to natsume's unique devotion to mikan. i still don't like it but ig if i had to choose...

so yeah it's a weird and tricky situation and i get it, fellow fic writers.... it's so hard. bc i LOOOOVE mikan's jealousy so much but it's so hard to make it come about in a natural way that stays true to natsume's character.

#ig thats why fics just feature a nm-aged luna who is infatuated w natsume for whatever reason to cling to him #i respect that tbh. its really the closest u can get to the vibe of the sports fest arc so it makes sense #besides luna is so flexible u can really make her play any role as long as its antagonistic to mikan #ive read a LOT of ga fanfic #ive been reading gaffn for more than ten years so i know all the tropes! and i feel sorry for us that jealous!mikan isnt easier to produce #when hsau fics say natsume has never been kissed.... yeah u get it. you GET it #general apathy abt romance and dating and then theres mikan! i rly cant see natsume being romantically interested in anyone else #i get he's 10 in the manga but he's forced to think like an adult so its not like mikans problem of immaturity #i could talk abt this forever but im tired so im gonna try to go to sleep #ga #natsumikan #little anya things #gakuen alice

I really think silly goofy and critical analytical can coexist!! When I watch something and say it’s bad, that doesn’t necessarily have a negative connotation

When I think something is bad it doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s enjoyable!! Something can be fun, it can be creative, it can have me giggling and kicking my feet, and while from an analytical standpoint the writing is bad, what’s important is that it’s fun!!
