Her hands rested shyly above the mattress. It was hard to believe that this was the same person who had broken 4 ribs of the now arrested suspect earlier. He grabbed a chair and sat down next to her, remembering the night before when she had tended to him, even if it was only with soup and healing conversation. It was only fair that he should return the favor.
