Laudna feels that second heartbeat in her chest, reverberating through her body in an unnatural rhythm. It almost takes her out of the moment.
Almost.
Because in the next moment Imogen's hand is in her hair and Laudna's own heart skips a beat, calling her back into reality.
Like being pulled away from the cliff that she had been balancing on, Laudna falls into the kiss. Her thoughts quiet and she melts into the sudden silence. All she feels is the warmth of Imogen's lips on hers.
