Employers on job adverts: We champion diversity and inclusion! We thrive to make everyone feel welcome! We want to make a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected!
My autistic ass, who has heard that empty rhetoric way too many times and has had terrible experiences with so-called 'inclusive employers':

When I’m working on a project that turns on my hyperfocus constantly, I’m not great with eating (and I looove eating!!!) ...because I’m too excited and busy to bother, so I make sure I have a decent meal in the morning and I take my meds basically with the second mouthful, so it doesn’t kick in straight away and by the time I finish eating I’m ready to get working with food in my belly :) (I’m a slow eater, can’t help it)... and for when I really can’t be bothered, I have a vegan protein meal replacement chocolate powder with fiber, vitamins and minerals, so I make a big glass of that with yummy coconut milk... and I buy tuna and rice bowls to have for lunch, just have to heat it up or can eat cold too, that makes life easier not having to prepare the food and I can just grab it and eat as I work...
I forget to eat quite often and I just did three laps around my fairly big neighborhood without eating. Now all I feel is r e g r e t. How do I remember to eat when it’s time?
The only thing that helps me is getting into a routine where I do things at the same time every day and I make a meal time in between two daily activities. If my routine starts to slip or my sleeping pattern gets bad I stop eating and things gets rough.

3 Reasons Why I’ve Changed My Business Name To My Own Name
Tips you can take from my learning journey and save yourself the time, trial and error I went through…

I found out that I had ADHD in my first year of teaching. Everything about that year was overwhelming: organizing my classroom, planning ahead for lessons, staying focused on one thing at a time while teaching, remembering dates and items that I needed for a lesson, etc. I had to take a teacher survey for a student of mine who was being tested for ADHD. The whole time I was filling it out I was thinking “oh same… haha, me too… wow, that’s me… wait, that too… wait, that too? Wait…” So I scoured the internet for ADHD information, followed some ADHD blogs, and took some self diagnosis tests. I was honestly amazed that there was a disorder that described literally everything about me, and I didn’t even know it! The worst thing about it was that it was ADHD, a name I had heard in so many places and about so many KIDS, and I had no idea that it was what it actually was. I eventually got diagnosed with moderate ADHD, and it was the most validating experience. But I wish that I had known when I was a kid, rather than finding out at 25. I wish I knew as a kid that there was a reason why I procrastinated and forgot everything, no matter how hard I tried. I wish I had known then that emotional dysregulation and RSD were symptoms rather than personality flaws. Overall, I just wish that I had known sooner that I had ADHD. And I wish that it was common knowledge what ADHD even is - not just trouble with focusing or being hyperactive. It wouldn’t have made anything easier to know sooner, but I might have loved myself more if I had known before now.

I love this video from Jessica, she put it all together perfectly...
I was going to watch this documentary to see what it was all about, but honestly, after watching Jessica’s video, I feel like I might have changed my mind...it’s going to be pure frustration...
I understand people without ADHD abuse the stimulant medication and that is a real problem, especially for younger adults and kids using it to boost performance and study etc...and then developing a drug problem and that’s not OK...so something had to be done to raise some awareness and scare them from taking it so lightly... what people don’t understand is that it’s safe IF YOU HAVE ADHD! if you don’t, it will WRECK YOUR BRAIN!
We naturally have a deficit of dopamine and serotonin and noradrenaline, so we take medication to normalise those neurotransmitters so we can operate more like a neurotypical person. If you are already neurotypical, you will be causing an overload of dopamine and serotonin and noradrenaline in your brain, which is the same as taking recreational drugs...and once those levels normalise again, you have withdrawals...because the pills make you high...
Now, if you HAVE ADHD, you don’t get a “high”...you just get focused and calm, not jittery and hyper...and with the right medication and right dosage, you don’t really experience any side-effects at all (I don’t). And on my days off, I don’t take my meds and there is absolutely no withdrawal at all! You are just your normal self...no physiological disturbances...
The message I want to finish with is that just because people with ADHD safely take these medications, doesn’t mean they will be safe for YOU -if you don’t have ADHD...don’t be fooled by that excuse that “lot’s of people take it so it should be fine for me too”... what do you think would happen to you if you started taking high blood pressure medication, when your blood pressure is just fine? You are going to feel dizzy and weak because then your blood pressure will go from normal to low! Just because people with high blood pressure take it safely, doesn’t mean it’s going to be safe for you because you don’t have the issue to start with!

How to handle Overthinking with ADHD
If you have ADHD like me, chances are you know the feeling of overthinking. So tow to handle overthinking with ADHD? Most probably that's what you do most of the time.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/empreendedoresTDAH/
Vejo vocês lá! Não se esqueçam de compartilhar esse vídeo com as pessoas que você conhece e acredita que iriam se beneficiar dessa comunidade...desde já agradeço a sua audiência ;)

I haven’t watched it yet but will def watch it some time this week and let you know how I find it :)
Watching Netflix’s “Take your Pills”…
Hi Friends - long time no chat!
I’m jumping back in after watching netflix’s new Doco “Take Your Pills”.
I’ll be going back and blogging about some of the things the doco says or implies that rang true or felt dismissive to me. I’ll throw in some stats when it’s useful!
Reblog or message me letting me know if there’s anything you would like me to mention!
How did you feel watching it? What would you like to know more about? What do you wish they had said/not said? What have your friends and family said about it?
It’s an open floor for your opinions on the piece.
As always, try and keep it brief because, let’s be real, we all got AD/HD here.

ADHD makes us feel insecure in running our businesses because we feel we can’t trust ourselves to get things done, so in order to try to take more action we end up making ourselves busy doing things that not necessarily will help us really move the business forward... 😓 that’s why we need a system to help us operate the business in a way that works with our brain so we can use our time and energy more efficiently without having to bust our behinds 14 hours a day every day, and be able to use our ADHD brain for innovation, creativity, determination and all the good things that do come with it... ;)

HOW TO WORK 6 HOURS A DAY, GROW YOUR BUSINESS AND SUCCEED AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WITH ADHD
After running the ADHD Entrepreneur Community and Support group on Facebook, Nick and I have been doing a lot of research within the members of the group about what their biggest struggles are to grow their business, having ADHD.
We have been delivering content and doing challenges in the group to help out, but it was time to get SERIOUS about this. We understand that a struggling entrepreneur cannot afford to work with a Business Coach and an ADHD Coach and that there are gaps there even if you have 2 coaches, one might not understand what it’s like to have ADHD and the other might not be business inclined. So we put together a course with all the strategies Nick and I have developed and have been working amazingly for ourselves and set up an operating system you can easily and practically implement that will have you growing your business and only working 6 HOURS A DAY! Yes! We want to mitigate the things we struggle with, having ADHD and make room for the good parts, the creativity, the problem solving, the innovation!  And you don’t have to pay thousands of $ and depend on a Coach on a regular basis! We will be there supporting you along the way and once you take on this program, it will change the way you run your business AND YOUR LIFE! You will be able to switch off and spend time with people you love, do things you enjoy and have a good night sleep every night, with the confidence that you will kick ass again the next day so you don’t worry and stress as much.
If you are thinking about starting your own business or just started or you are struggling to grow your business because your ADHD gets in your way, makes you scattered and lacking focus, remember...the only difference between those entrepreneurs with ADHD who succeed and those who don’t is the ones who do learned how to focus their time an energy towards actions that would actually help them grow their business...and you can save yourself years of pain and frustration and disappointment and self-doubt by not letting this opportunity pass by! It’s time to change and take control - all this potential we have CAN come to fruition if you know how to take over the driver’s seat from now on...
We will be telling you all about HOW YOU CAN WORK 6 HOURS A DAY, GROW YOUR BUSINESS AND SUCCEED AS AN ENTREPRENEUR WITH ADHD ON THURSDAY 1st of Feb 7PM EST LIVE in the ADHD Entrepreneur Community and Support group on Facebook
