This is your daily reminder to not be ashamed of making your life easy for yourself.
Cut your food into small pieces, make the font size 30 on your e book, use straws to drink, get a pen that’s comfortable to hold, take more naps, walk slowly, eat another cookie, buy velcro shoes, re-watch the part you couldn’t understand the first time, write things on your hands so you don’t forget it… whatever you want and/or need
Don’t let anyone tell you how you should be doing things. We don’t need to prove each other anything

Choosing to use mobility aids is not giving up.
It’s actually a huge step to choose to pay attention and listen to your body’s needs and you shouldn’t have to be embarrassed or feel like a failure for using them.

*I had to work with the character limits so I had to leave it at neurodivergent/mentally ill, but this also applies if you identify as psychiatrically disabled or mad
If you're thinking to yourself "I'm not disabled/chronically ill, I'm just in pain all the time/constantly fatigued/my stomach always hurts/I'm managing/I'm okay if I do [x]" perhaps reconsider. I'm not going to tell you how you have to identify, I know how it feels to think 'I don't have it bad enough to be disabled' but try to take stock of your symptoms/situation with fresh eyes. You can become desensitized to your symptoms.
Sorry if the wording is weird, I'm very tired.
Please do feel free to elaborate in the tags. This is about personal identity
Reblog for bigger sample size etc

Just throwing this out there, as a disabled person, running a blog about my journey, if you are transabled DO NOT INTERACT.
i hope all y’all transabled people know you’re fucking ableist and i genuinely hate you for making my disability into an aesthetic ❤️

If I didn't ask for help with my laundry, it wouldn't have gotten done.
If I hadn't asked for help with food, I wouldn't have eaten today.
Sometimes asking for help is all you can do. But it's still really important work.

Me being formally diagnosed with a disability (hEDS) has caused some strange reactions in my family.
Like, my dad, who was previously trying to get me to get a second job, is now trying to get me to apply for disability (which I don’t want to do yet) and my mom, who was previously lightly dismissive (due to thinking I was a hypochondriac which tbh I really don’t blame her for, I’m a little dramatic), is now not dismissive. It’s like now that a professional has agreed with what I’ve been saying for years, everyone has a different perception on the situation.
