Headcanon #20
It’s the beginning of June and every single student of Duel Academy is either busy studying for exams or enjoying the nice, sunny weather that has finally arrived at the school after weeks of rain.
Judai is too busy being lectured about Pride Month by none other than his boyfriend Johan, who’s been celebrating it at North Academy mostly by himself and is now more than happy to finally share it with the other boy.
No one in their friends group is too surprised when they see both of them wrapped in a huge, self-made and slightly wonky rainbow flag wherever they go from then on, cuddling and being even more obnoxiously in love than before.
They all secretly agree on how adorable it is, though.

One headcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart
There’s the headcanon that Johan never got to know what exactly happened in the Dark World, like Judai becoming this evil, partially because he thought that Johan had died.Of course Johan likely witnessed some things that happened, but he never understood the exact reason or the real extend of what went down. So with all of that, he is unable to completely understand why Judai is so devastated after he sees him again or why he sometimes has that sad expression in his eyes or nightmares that he can never fully explain to him.But of course, Johan would still be there for him anyway, because despite Judai acting tough and reassuring him again and again that he is fine, Johan knows that for a long, long while, he really isn’t.
One headcanon about this OTP that mends it
That’s a tough one, because there are so many lovely headcanons out there!
One of the main ones and probably one of the most talked about is Johan actually accompanying Judai after he leaves Duel Academy. Like whether he catches up with him later or follows from the start - the imagine of him traveling all these cities with him, taking stupid selfies and also slowly watching Judai recover from the trauma of the Dark World is what I would totally have wished for for these two. Especially after they basically spent all their time togehter at the Academy already anyway and seemed quite inseperable there.

What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other?
Judai would totally try to act as normal as possible, while still getting flustered around Johan as soon as he realises that there may be a little more feelings than he originally thought.
He would also slip up sometimes when simply saying absolutely normal things, like “You wanna go out on a dat-duel?! A duel? Just a duel, a normal friendly duel!”
The main thing though would be him trying to impress Johan the hardest he could. He would be a 100% convinced that Johan would never date someone who is not matching him in (duel) strength etc., so from now on he drags him to every single one of his duels to prove himself to him (which completely confuses Johan a little, but he, of course, goes anyway).
Johan himself would be a little bolder.
He would totally charm his way into Judai’s heart and not deny any feelings for a second.
A smirk here, a little wink there. He absolutely loves seeing the super confident Judai blushing at that, even though he’s a teeny-tiny bit scared that Judai might not feel the same way after all.
He would also be the one confessing to him first, while Judai would contemplate if he’s ever going to tell Johan at all.
