Quell arrived a moment later. She looked gaunt enough to cut in half with a paring knife, but she was rigid and proud as ever. Adan followed her in, giving the room only a cursory glance. After Adan came a woman Nath didn’t recognize at first—a jade-skinned Twi’lek with white-patterned head-tails and a confidence that made Quell, in comparison, look like a trembling child.
General Hera Syndulla.
Legend of the Rebel Alliance. The woman who’d helped free Lothal, survived Scarif, and led the charge at Endor. Commander of the battle group and special guest aboard the Lodestar. If she was making time for a briefing, they were in for very good news or very bad.

Were you friends with many other kids growing up?
Well, I did move around a lot, which made it kinda hard to make friends. But I did have a handful, like Poe Dameron and a few others! He was probably one of the closest friends I had

So, Jacen... got any special women in your life? Besides @askspectretwo ,of course
*grins* as a matter of fact, I do!!
She's a Corellian G9 Rigger-class light freighter! And I know what you're thinking: "Jacen that ship is positively ancient! Does the hyperdrive even work?"
And I would say YES of course it does most of the time. She's called the New Dawn, and is mostly built of salvaged parts. She's technically Ezra's ship-- long story as to how he got her, but let's just say Ahsoka was involved. And a smuggler-- not Han Solo, this smuggler is way cooler
Anyways, he got it a little while before he got home. It was kind of a bonding point for the two of us, since we didn't totally get along at first. The two of us, with help from my mom, of course, have repaired her and worked on her for years as a team. And we've traveled all over the galaxy on her!
I'll admit (reluctantly) that the New Dawn doesn't always work totally how she's supposed to, and that she isn't the best or fastest ship in the galaxy (that's the Ghost, of course. On both counts). She can also be incredibly hard to fly for anyone who's not me or Ezra or @laughingphoenixleader, because my mom can fly everything
But she's mine, and I wouldn't trade her in for anything. She talks to me like nothing else does. And of course I talk back, it would be rude to ignore her (Ezra says I'm crazy, but he talks to loth cats, so what does he know?)

what’s your favorite story you’ve heard about Kanan?
Oh, that's hard. It kind of depends on what kind of story I'm in the mood for. The one about him and Rex saving Ezra from the ship with the gravity well is a classic (especially when Ezra shoots them. Cracked me up every time, the way Rex would tell it)
But overall, my two favorites are the story about when he showed himself as a Jedi for the first time, and when he and my mom met for the first time

so what's your relationship with the Force like?
Uhhhh... complicated
See, the thing that I did not know growing up is, not all Jedi have the same level of Force sensitivity. As it turns out, some of them have a very, very different level of ability to tap into it, and can't do all the things that your average Jedi can
And that's me. Honestly, for a while no one even thought I was Force sensitive. I can't levitate worth a kriff, and my precognition sucks (although I don't usually see the benefit of that, anyways). Don't even get me started on some of the incidents I've had while trying to Force bond with animals-- although strangely enough, I do just fine when it comes to Loth wolves
Connecting with the Force just normally isn't as easy for me, or tapping into it. But I still have the enhanced reflexes, and I have a few other useful tricks! *grins*

SAY NO MORE
Hera Syndulla. Incredible pilot, inspiring leader and ten out of ten mom (although she could stand to let me eat cookies for breakfast more often). She took on the incredible task of dealing with my dad (a real pain in the neck at the time) at eighteen, and was even younger when she left home to fight for the Rebellion
She's an incredible pilot who broke through the Lothal blockade, flew over Endor and Scarif, and outflew Darth McFreaking Vader
Let me just break down for you how impressive that is. Darth Vader, scourge of the Empire. Previously known as Anakin Skywalker, an immensely talented pilot who was known as the best-- and also HIGHLY Force sensitive. No one could outfly him
Oh, except for my mom. Who isn't Force sensitive in the slightest. Anakin Skywalker was caught in his own ship's tractor beams by a non-Force sensitive woman roughly half his age
Force, she's awesome
Not only is she an incredible pilot and leader, but she also took care of her crew like she was their mother (except for Kanan, of course *grins*). She basically raised Sabine and Ezra, and Kanan is definitely not the only one who should be credited with them growing up to be so awesome. And he'd agree with me on that! She does an amazing job at taking care of all of us, even when it's hard
She's an inspiration, my personal role model, and a captain anyone would be proud to fly with. People don't give her enough credit, but everyone should know that she's right about everything all the time
And I also really hope she shows up in the live action shows
One like and I'll make a super long post about how and why Hera Syndulla is so cool

Browsing an archive Corellia for... totally normal reasons, and I found a YT-1300 Corellian freighter owners workshop manual
Which is honestly so funny to me because I guarantee you Solo used his as a doorstop or something

Where did you grow up? Were you with your mom most of the time or did you have other family members taking care of you?
I've kind of lived all over the place, honestly. Obviously I was with my mom when I was first born, and she took care of me for as long as she could while we lived on Yavin 4 (or so I'm told. I don't remember much about this part of my life, honestly).
But after our base on Yavin 4 was gone, she had to figure out where to send me to keep me safe. I spent time with a lot of different people throughout the war, honestly-- Sabine on Lothal, Uncle Zeb on Lira San, even Rex and Wolffe once or twice
When I was about five, the war ended and my mom retired from her position as General. When that happened, she came to get me, and after that, I grew up on the Ghost and at the flight school my mom runs (ten out of ten, would recommend!). At that point, I had a lot of different relatives showing up and taking care of me, but the main ones then were Sabine, Ezra, and my mom. As well as the various pilots she hired to work at her flight school after the war
Hope that answers your question!

(okay, this is gonna be probably my one and only out of character post, but I just want to make a note of something: feel free to send me asks that aren't necessarily canon compliant, whether it's relating to Legends stuff or Kanan being alive, etc. I'll tag those as #(canon divergent) and the others as #(canon compliant) when it applies!)

what’s your favorite thing about flying?
Force, what ISN'T my favorite thing about flying? The feeling of freedom, of all the other problems and distractions falling away, the literal feeling of it. Up there, it doesn't matter who I am or where I came from, whether or not I'm a Jedi. There's no place I'd rather be than the sky, especially if I have one of my favorite co-pilots with me *grins* particularly my mom!
And sure, if I make one mistake I could send us all plummeting to a fiery demise-- but really, that's half the fun, isn't it?

Hello broccoli boy! 💚
What do you think of your older brother Ezra?
Hello awesome Mandalorian person!
Ezra? He's a total pain sometimes, and if I had a credit for every time he tried to Force bond with an animal that later tried to kill us, I'd have enough to pay for the many repairs the Millenium Falcon so obviously still needs
But also, one of my best friends in the whole world and the guy who taught me everything I know about being a Jedi (part time, I should add). He's gotten me out of trouble just as often as we both manage to get into it, and he's one of the main people out there who talks about how much I remind him of both my dad AND my mom.I'm really glad he's my brother
But seriously, who tries to Force bond with a giant white spider?

Does Hera ever tell you about Kanan?
I've heard a lot of stories about my dad from most of the crew-- and my mom is definitely among them
I know it was hard for her at first, especially when I was little. It would make her sad just thinking about him. But she didn't want his memory to die. So she'd tell me one story every time we saw each other while she was working with the New Republic. And when the Empire was properly defeated and she came home, she told me even more
So in summary, she does. It's not always easy, but she does
