“Is there… anything I can help you with?” the summoned demon asked awkwardly. Their tone of voice was so much different than expected that even the human became uncertain.
“Uh…” Human eloquently began. “Are you… the Devourer Of Worlds?”
The demon cringed weirdly at the name. “Kinda…? That was actually my dad’s title but he’s not around anymore sooo… I guess it’s mine now.”

Short Prompt #1268
CW: forced mind control.
"And just what do we have here~?" the villain purred as their henchmen dragged forth a struggling stranger. "I see we had a little rat hiding in the vents."
The moment the intruder made eye contact with Villain, their entire body froze before going near limp. The criminal made a 'come hither' motion with their finger, and the stranger stumbled forward like a puppet on strings.
Smirking, the villain tilted the other's chin up with a gentle hand. "And just what might you be doing here~?"
"I was sent here to secretly gather information about your plans," the spy mumbled, helpless under Villain's spell.
The villain hummed thoughtfully. "And who sent you?"
"Hero," was the response, and it was all Villain needed to put their latest plan into motion.

Short Prompt #1232
Between the rustle of leaves a shaky breathing could just faintly be heard, shallow and panicked. The villain listened intently with a smirk, his footsteps silent as he stalked closer.
Behind one of the old trees, his prey, the hero, sat in the dirt. Their body was hunched over and tense, shivering. With their eyes squeezed shut, they were unaware of the danger crouching down before them.
Villain admired their terror in sadistic glee and let his cold breath gently graze their face. There was a pause, Hero going stiffer than a statue before an ugly sob broke past their lips.
The villain cooed mockingly, “Oh, no need to cry, little hero! I know I found you pretty quick… but how about I give you another chance?”
With fear and a glimmer of hope dancing together in their eyes, Hero finally looked at him. Villain smiled wide with much too sharp teeth. “Twenty… Nineteen…”
Wide-eyed, the hero jumped to their feet and ran without a glance back, their heart wildly thumping anew in their chest. The villain's hungry eyes watched them disappear amidst the woodland brush, holding down his urge to chase, chase, CHASE!
Until…
“Three… Two… One…” Villain let out a quiet laugh.
“Zero.”

"Be careful on yer journey, traveler," the merchant warned, handing the knight their supplies. "A wicked beast wanders these woods."
"That is exactly why I'm here," Knight explained, puffing out their chest proudly. "I'm here to rid the forest of that monster once and for all!"
The salesman didn't look very impressed, having seen many cocky warriors cross this town. "Well, good luck on your quest."
The knight left with their head held high, and the merchant - secretly Monster in disguise - watched them leave with a growing smirk.

The warrior poked the monster's corpse with the blunt end of his spear. Upon receiving no reaction, he heaved a relieved sigh and turned to his partner with a smile. "Yup! See? I told you I could handle it!"
"Yeah, I guess you... Uh..." Healer trailed off, watching as the corpse started twitching and rising back up to its feet.
Warrior, with his back turned to the creature, froze when it began to growl once more. He and the healer exchanged glances.
"RUN!"

The criminal smiled and waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, you know I can take care of myself. I've just never had the drive to do something different before!"

Villain stopped right before their enemy and carefully started to retrieve something out of their pocket. "I've decided to become a salesman! Would you like to buy this?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"This!" With a great smile, the villain pulled their hand back out and swiftly punched Hero in the face.

A blur of bright amber dashes through the trees with paws black as charcoal running across a sea of golden leaves, the dry brush crunching with the fox's every move. A loud thunder sounds just behind, slamming repeatedly against the ground, and the fox smirks as its prey approaches.
With a mischievous glint in its eye and the flick of its tail, the forest floor alights with a magical flame that quickly devours everything it touches.
Everything, but the fox, that is.
The foolish humans cry out in pain as the fire catches them in its jaws, and the fluffy spirit laughs as it feasts on their flesh.
