The Pichi Richi ran from Port Augusta to Quorn and back. The trip was 6 hours in total - two hours there, two hour break for lunch, two hours back.
I literally loved every moment of this ride oh my god
The engine and all the carriages were like 100 years old.
I really really loved standing on the outsides of the carriage and just watching everything go by. We also went on a really nice sunny day so most of the trip we had out heads hanging out the window it was the best!!
Every now and then we'd cross a bridge and there would be people waiting to take photos, and on the day I was wearing my conductor hat so I would wave it out the window!! It was the coolest thing ever!!
Unfortunately you can only attach one video, I would do more because I filmed so much beautiful scenery through the Flinders ranges but here's one with my dad hangin out the window at the end -
Overall this trip was like the coolest thing I've ever done and I would do it again a hundred times over. My childhood dream had finally been accomplished 🚂
(there's also a possibility that my dad and I might volunteer for the railway, very excited)
Alrighty! So I've been posting a lot less on here due to me being very deep in other stuff especially my webcomic, so I've decided that I'll put my Instagram and YouTube here because I post more stuff there
Today my family and I drove down to visit the small town of Peterborough. This town was once a bustling railway town, it was where all the railways from Western Australia, New South Wales and Victoria met. Of course the town still takes pride in this, they have old locomotives and carriages on the side of the road with memorials describing their routes.
Y class locomotive
But the main attraction of this town is the "Steamtown heritage train museum" which houses and preserves locomotives and carriages which used to run throughout the 18th and 19th century. As well as a few diesels. The museum's most interesting feature is their turntable. It's one of the last, if not the last turntable left in Australia, despite it not being able to run anymore.
The turntable was surrounded buy a very big shed which kept two steam engines (one Y class and one T class), three deisel engines, and a lot of really cool different types of carriages that were used for different purposes.
But what I was really excited for today was the sound and light show that they did at night. I had seen the ad for this show since I was really young in my towns local cinema so I genuinely couldn't wait to finally see it!!
To watch the show we were all brought out to the turntable and sat in the carriage that was on it, and a huge screen came out Infront of the sheds. The light show told the whole history of Australia's rail system. It was incredibly fascinating. It ran for around an hour and I loved every minute of it. I didn't realise how rich the steam engine history was in Australia until today and I'm so so happy we came here.
During the credits, the engines all lit up to the tune of an old song. I had seen a clip of the engines lighting up in the old ad and ever since I was a Thomas loving kid, it's always reminded me of Tidmouth sheds, and it always will.
If anyone that's sees this lives within South Australia I highly recommend visiting this museum! It's completely worth every second <3
Still wary about posting new art mostly due to just worrying about it being stolen/reposted. But I didn’t wanna sit out pride without even a little nod and support. Plus I needed a new banner for ages.
I did also just want to thank everyone for the insane support I’ve gotten over the last week or so. I’ve got tough skin and usually get over things like this, life’s too short to hold grudges and not do the things you love doing because of a few shit bags that might get you down. And I’ve been reminded of that by all the amazing and lovely asks and messages I’ve gotten. Honestly I’m not deserving of all you genuinely beautiful people but I am eternally grateful nevertheless. I’m so lucky to be a part of such a supportive and caring community of people in this fandom. I still want to sort out how I’m feeling but once I do I want to keep posting, for everyone who has shown me so much support 💖 this blog wouldn’t be here without y’all.
And once more, Happy Pride Month. This blog is a safe space for anyone of any background. We are all human, and as long as we treat others with the respect they deserve, we deserve the same. Xxx
I agree, I've been afriad to post other stuff because of my followers. Because if I stop posting Thomas stuff then everyone who followed me specifically for that will unfollow. But I have been working on a webcomic that is very different to my content on tumblr so if you're interested let me know :)
why do people not interested in TTTE anymore??? some people do not post TTTE. why???
Some, if not most, people do not produce content for strictly one fandom forever. That is just a fact of life. People find new stuff they wanna post about, and go to that. Doesn't necessarily mean they're not interested in, as you say, TTTE anymore! People's focuses are split, and they have every right to choose which interest to post on. And some people may completely lose interest in something they loved so dearly. And that is valid.
Not even gonna lie, you sound frustrated that you're seeing TTTE creators posting other shit, or not posting enough TTTE. Not a single one of us are obligated to purely post one thing for our entire lives here; we are not computers programmed for a single purpose.
If you're gonna put shit like this in the inbox, especially worded like this, it sounds like you're whining about a supposed lack of TTTE content from all these creators when in reality they could be busy, doing shit for another thing they like, or just...not making content. They should not have to make TTTE content every hour of every day to satisfy your hunger for it, and it is honestly a selfish mindset to think that they're machines that can pump out TTTE content every waking moment for your consumption. ┐(´ー`)┌
How many people’s most beloved childhood stuffed animals are actually teddy bears, like I feel like that’s a thing someone made up. Reblog this and put what your longest owned and/or favorite stuffed animal as a child was in the tags, inquiring minds want to know
