this is to add up from @lovee-infected's analysis back in 2020 about leona being in the lion guard (read it here) but i randomly binged-watched the lion king series and realized scar was part of the lion guard before and has a tattoo which signifies his position. was also gifted "the roar (roar of the elders)" as his weapon but he must use it wisely or else he'll lose both his position and power (to which he eventually did).
the roar is booming, thunderous, and powerful. leona's roar is loud...really loud and it's not just his roar, it's his voice in general. AND HIS UNIQUE MAGIC IS "KING'S ROAR" and he seems well-educated in his country's defense mechanism. here's the difference between "king's roar" and "roar of the elders" take note of the bolded words
ROAR OF THE ELDERS/THE ROAR (The Lion Guard)
The Roar is strong enough to blast downward-falling water upward, scatter a pile of boulders, or force someone else backward, sometimes sending them flying miles away. However, if the Roar is used in anger, regardless of the intent, it can cause mass destruction and there is a risk of it rebounding like an echo, which can cause natural disasters such as earthquakes. When used in anger, the clouds will be dark and stormy...before Kion uses the Roar, he always tells everyone to get behind him...So he [Scar] tried to employ the rest of his Lion Guard to help him overthrow Mufasa, but when they refused, he destroyed them (Roar of the Elders from The Lion Guard Wiki).
KING'S ROAR (Leona Kingscholar)
In Leona's dorm uniform card, we see him confronting his dorm mates after they mobbed on Jack. His dorm mates threatened him [Leona], questioned his position as their boss and why does he have the right to order them around. He told Jack to "stand back" while he handles them himself. To deflect them and show them his power he used "King's Roar" which resulted in his dormmates and Jack saying:
"My foothold is trembling."
"The terrain is rapidly shifting."
"The ground is splitting?!" (Jack)
During his overblot, the skies and the clouds turned dark (as it commonly does during overblots). It showed that it can harm a person (such as Ruggie) by turning them into dust/sand. Ruggie also mentioned how he doesn't want to get involved in a blast from Leona's unique magic's full potential. Here's to say that turning something into sand ISN'T the only thing his unique magic can do.
ruggie also mentioned during his magishift club wear card that leona's voice is loud and that they can hear him very well despite the spectators being noisy (translation credits go to @mysteryshoptls):
We can hear Leona’s voice pretty good even when we got noisy spectators durin’ a game. Guess lions just got a healthier roar to ‘em.
if the roar of the elders is used for good and must be used for good, then king's roar is the twisted version of the roar of the elders since it is seen as something dangerous instead of something that can be used for good. seeing as the leona's unique magic was feared upon by his people in the palace, the roar of the elders, on the other hand, was seen as something admirable and worthy for a person to have.
heck the roar of the elders is confiscated if they're used for bad and evil as it musn't be used for ill-intentions. meanwhile, leona's unique magic is implied to be used for ill-intentions because "anything he touches turns into sand" and what good can it bring, right?
Okay, but we all know deep inside that the boys can take Leona's child away because it's Leona, and they like teasing him while also spending time with his little one. But imagine if they did it while Leona's spouse was present 😭
Spouse: Leona, where's our child?
Leona: Oh boy, here we go. One of the herbivores took them away. I tried, but... UURRRGGGHH!
Spouse: WHAT?! LAST TIME IT WAS DRACONIA! WHO TOOK OUR KID THIS TIME?! *Stomps out of the room to look for MC*
Leona: Vil, where's my child-
Vil: Did you schedule an appointment with me?
Leona: Why would I need to-
Vil: I'm a famous model. Everyone needs an appointment before coming to me.
Leona: You kidnapped my child.
Vil: I don't see that as a reason for you to be excused.
Vil: Rook.
Rook: Oui, Roi du Poison.
Leona: What the- *Rook drags him away*
Leona: Give me back my child, dammit!
Vil: ...
Toddler MC: *walks in, rubbing their sleepy eyes* Unca Vi?
Vil: Come here, sweetheart.
Toddler MC: *walks to him* Dada here?
Vil: Yes. But he had to leave immediately. *carries them up*
Vil: So that means you'll have to stay with Unca Vi a little longer.
Toddler MC: *answers sleepily* Yay...
Vil: *chuckles* *rubs his cheek on theirs* You're really adorable.
Leona: You people need to make your own babies and stop kidnapping mine.
Rook: *chuckles* Roi du Poison is quite busy to think of starting his own family. And it just happened that your child is exceptionally adorable, Roi du Leon!
I know the Quidditch Tournament was weeks ago, but exams were being a jerk 🙄.
Anyway, here's a fanart for Slytherin's victory in Harry Potter: Magic Awakened's Quidditch Tournament 2023 in the Ashwinder (Asia) server featuring my two OCs. Congratulations to us snakes for winning first place. (Click for better quality)

I noticed????? ??????? ?? ? ?? Bro's consistently sniffing out magic 😳
***Spoilers for Stage in Playful Land below the cut!!***
In book 1, he sniffed Yuu in the Botanical Garden and noted that they don't have any magic at all; then in 5-70, Leona notes that he detects faint traces of magic (post-OB battle and post-stadium fix); neither Ruggie nor Jack noticed it, ONLY Leona.
Now in Stage in Playful Land, Leona reveals that he doesn't smell magic on Gidel. So????? He has the ability to sense if someone has magic or not based on smell alone?? (The same seems to go for the environment; he can smell when magic has been cast.) Does that mean he can also gauge a mage's power level based on how strong the scent is?????? (He doesn't comment on Ferro's smell, though it has been indicated by other characters that Ferro has very little magic himself.)
Leona seems to be the only one capable of doing this; I don't recall an instance of another beastman (that naturally have heightened senses of smell) doing something similar. Did Leona specifically train to gain this ability (maybe some kind of special royal privilege of the Kingscholar household)??? Did he train himself???? Or is it just a gift he was born with????
Basically, Yana uses bold lines and colors to emphasize a character's expressions and emit their personality more. Like, you can REALLY see how this character is so different from the others. The scheme used also screams their personality.
kinda out of topic, my bad, but like how do y'all know which cards are illustrated by yana and which ones are handled by others? like i know this batch of cards were illustrated by yana bc of the credits but idk abt the others
art style!!! yana has this specific art style that just literally screams yana toboso in comparison to others. especially with the coloring, it's on the spot. i'm sure most of us heard about issues with the skin color and yana's are accurate (considering she designed it). there's also a huge difference with the eyes as the way yana draws eyes are very expressive and full of life. she also mentions on twitter which card she has contributed to. also the line art and the color schemes differ GREATLY. here are some examples:
yana's art style
these are not yana's
also not yana.
although majority of the art works are still made by yana (especially the first set of cards like the ceremonial robes, lab coats, etc.). yana has this certain favoritism with malleus, riddle, ace, deuce, leech twins HAHSHSJHJHAHJA. for the more complex arts or for major event cards, all of those (at least the majority like rollo) are made by yana herself
How I feel every time I use Crucio or Avada Kedavra in duels.
(CLICK FOR BETTER QUALITY)
Okay, but just imagine all the spells that we cast, including the unforgivable curses, are actually being casted BY our MC, lol. And since it's MC vs MC, everything seems okay because well... It's the players controlling them, and it's a game for us . Imagine the reaction of the professors, students, and MC's friends get when they see their friend casting Crucio at the opponent, and the opponent casts Avada Kedavra back and then both of them cast Obscurus at each other LMAO. The gang are just sitting there terrified and wondering why MC won't die after getting hit with the killing curse multiple times and just falls to the ground instead. LOL, WE MAKING IT OUT OF HOGWARTS WITH THIS ONE MY FELLOW MUGGLES! THE MINISTRY IS ON US! IT'S EITHER THERAPY OR AZKABAN!!!
I mean. John was literally losing himself at that time. Not to mention, Gary kept crawling at his back, so he kept on going back and forth, questioning himself with his faith. If it really was God, he wouldn't have let John bargain with whatever he had left atm. I mean, the dialogue had him offering things that may seem good, but given the sequence of how he did it, it made you do a double take.
This just reminded me how grateful I was to have met my classmates in 10th grade. The boys didn't question makeup, they all had an eye for the arts and just considered makeup like anything art related. Never questioned it, just went with the flow. They were annoying but boi did I love them.
makeup on men
Y’all ever notice how companies irl can be so ridiculous in trying to help men maintain their “masculinity” by making traditionally feminine products sound “more manly”????? Like calling foundation for men “war paint” because MEN CAN’T WEAR MAKEUP, THAT’S ONLY FOR GIRLS
Then you got the TWST boys casually slaying it in makeup for a lot of their looks 😩 I just KNOW Vil would not approve of companies that make pointlessly gendered products like the friggin' war paint men's foundation and the "for women" pink pens/j
Lazy or finicky characters like Leona and Floyd, and introverts who don’t want to be seen in public like Idia will still do their makeup. Even the traditionally “manly men” like Jack don’t think twice about eyeshadow and eyeliner. No one dismisses makeup as something “just for girls” or something that threatens their sense of self or masculinity. At most, they may complain about how bothersome it is to so makeup, but don’t talk it down as a strictly feminine hobby. Makeup is embraced as a normal thing. (The one exception here is maybe Epel, who comes from a village with very conservative views on gender roles. However, he has recently started to change and reconsider his opinions; this was a point of contention in book 5 that served as major character growth for him.)
I just think that's a really neat thing (of many neat things!) about Twisted Wonderland! ^^
Yes! Especially Leona's case. It makes me sad that majority of the fandom mischaracterize when he's more than that (Setting the fact aside that I see my father in him lol). He's smart, fierce, caring, and kind at times. Man was raised right but grew up hearing whispers about him being inferior and "evil". He isn't just some lazy lion who can eat people up with words and comments, he's more than that, but he's suffering and he doesn't find anything to try and prove it anymore. But he does try, he tries to make it up for everything he missed, he's trying to get up and be better. To beat those rumours and insults thrown in his way, he needs to get up and fight but you can see in his development that he's taking it one step at a time.
the mischaracterization of leona, vil and sebek by the fandom is WILD
