Hello I would like to discuss an idea with you. I was overthinking objects as we do and I thought about the possibility of Taco regretting what happened in the past with her and pickle. The specific scene that made me think about this is the one where Taco was going to go in the portal for a "second chance" in their words which you would assume is about the money but that doesn't really make sense if you think about it too much like I did because she already had Mic and up to that point everything was going pretty smoothly so there was no way she could predicted the whole splitting apart thing. you could maybe say she didn't believe in mic or maybe she wants to go back in the past to try to do it right and win the competition which I believe the contrary. it seems like taco saw mic on the same level as her because Taco seems to see her as a friend, and like I said before there was no way she could predict the splitting happening so there was no point of her going back to do things right when everything was already going right. So I believe she might have been trying to go back maybe to become something different not what everyone especially pickle sees her as. Have a fresh start and become friends with pickle maybe even be better with the other contestants if she so wanted to and maybe even more true to her real self. Also I like to mention it not out of her nature to ditch one friend to get something she wants like money, or a old friend from the past she might wish she would have been better to. So what are your thoughts?

Hi ok so first off I Love this ask. You hit everything perfectly and I 100% agree. I’m going to add on with things that I’ve personally observed, but you’ve pretty much said everything that needs to be said.

Did Taco want to go back in time because of Pickle?

So right now it’s impossible to say exactly what Taco wants from Pickle. But we know she does want Something from him because she continues to try and reestablish contact with him after season 1.

In episode 1 of season 2, Knife says that they’ve received “another” letter from Taco. This tells us she’s sent more than one. The fact that Knife looks to Pickle, and that Pickle speaks as if the letter is towards him, implies that this letter, and however many she’s sent beforehand, was addressed to him, which makes a lot of sense considering he’s the only one that Taco was ever really friends with at that point. So we know that Taco has sent multiple letters towards Pickle. But why?

This question is important to answer why she would want to go back in time, as I agree, it couldn’t just be for the money. Taco seemed to have full confidence in her plan to help Microphone win, and when the portal opened, it was during a point where her trust in Microphone had really strengthened.

So what other reason would she have to go back in time if not for the money? As you’ve already said, it seems the reason would be to get back into contact with Pickle. But it’s important that we figure out Why.

Now Justin Chapman, one of the writers of inanimate insanity, has said some interesting things on the topic that I believe are definitely worth noting.

Now I could spend all day analyzing this one ask, but what i feel is important for This question are the words “he has not followed up in any sense nor followed any instructions given in the letters.”

So the letters have Instructions. She wants him to Do something. It’s impossible to say what that is specifically, though it’s easy to theorize based on context.

Pickle also says in reference to the letter “I don’t need her pity” implying that somewhere in the letters, he was being pitied, or he Assumed that it was pity. Now I assumed this implied Taco either offered to help him in some way, or was kind to him somehow, as I can’t imagine any other way he could interpret “pity” from her, but I’m open to thoughts from anyone else on this topic.

If my assumption is the case, I’d imagine she was relatively kind in the letters. As there’s really nothing she would be able to offer him at this point. Pickle lives in a big hotel with all of his friends, meanwhile Taco is essentially homeless and has pretty much nothing. Plus we’ve been given no canon reason to assume she’s offered him anything

All of this seems to lead to Taco having some need to reconnect with Pickle. It doesn’t seem like she’s trying to get something from him, as she specifically reaches out to him and not, for example, Balloon, who was in a much more unfortunate state at the time and would have been easier to manipulate. Even if this truly is more manipulation, she wants Pickle in her life above anyone else.

So we have a good case on the idea that Taco wants to be part of Pickle’s life again in some way. But there’s one thing that really convinces me that he was the main reason that she wanted to go back in time.

When Microphone asks Taco about the portal, Taco looks away before completely changing the subject. The bond between Mic and Taco was growing stronger at this point and they started finally working as a team. And yet Taco refuses to say what her reasoning behind reaching towards the portal was.

Microphone knows about Taco’s past in season 1. She recognizes her in the forest automatically and makes multiple references to season 1, so theres no reason she wouldn’t get it if Taco had said she wanted to Win. Especially since they still weren’t super close at the time.

Even as they get closer as teammates and friends, Taco refuses to tell Microphone why she reached for the portal, no matter how many times she brings it up. We only see Taco this serious about keeping something to herself One Other Time: when Knife starts talking about Pickle.

Taco tries very hard to prevent Knife from telling Microphone about Pickle. Just as she had tried to keep her motives behind the portal a secret. And she is clearly very upset when he does.

And Heres the part that really makes me think Taco must have been trying to get back to Pickle:

When Microphone hears the news about Pickle, she’s not shocked or surprised. She looks down at Taco, and then immediately insists that she’s changed.

How would Microphone know that? What makes her so confident in the fact that Taco wouldn’t do that now?

It’s because she’s connected the dots between Pickle, and Taco reaching for the portal.

After this moment, Microphone completely stops pestering Taco about the portal. She drops the topic all together despite being so interested before. Why? Because she doesn’t need to press anymore.

It’s very clear to me that Microphone makes a connection between what Knife says about Pickle, and Taco’s actions in the lab. As her behavior regarding the portal completely changes after this interaction. She’s sure that Taco has changed because she’s Seen Taco’s desire to do better. She knows that if Taco had a chance to go back and fix things, she would take it, because Microphone has seen her try.

So yes, absolutely I agree. Taco wanted to go through that portal for Pickle. I can’t say for sure what exactly she would have attempted to do if she had succeeded in going through that portal, but I can say with almost certainty that it has something to do with her broken relationship with Pickle.

My opinions on the MBTI types

ESFP - Very cheerful and social, cares a lot about people's opinion and fashion

ESTP - Quite social and a bit arrogant but can be kind and helpful to loved ones

ISFP - Adventurous, artistic, tends to hide their feelings and are kind

ISTP - Also adventurous, tends to care a lot about nature and seems insensitive and uncaring but really just lack the emotional intelligence to express that they care about others, Everyone either simps for them or hate them

ESFJ - Very social, enjoy helping others and very kind but can be insane and violent when they want to

ESTJ - Hardworking, not very emotional, perfectionistic and basically every teacher's favourite student

ISFJ - Enjoy helping, smart, very kind, loyal and empathetic

ISTJ - Hardworking, seems quite serious but can be funny and kind sometimes
