Amazing Creatures
Elephants Elephants are one of my favorite animals, too. I still have my stuffed elephant named Potsy that I’ve had since I was about five years old. I kept him on my bed with me until I was around 13. Although he’s packed in the shed with other belongings currently, I’ll never part with him. Elephants are intelligent, emotional, maternal creatures – all traits that have been used to describe…

Mean People
Why do people have to be so mean? Like downright mean? I started a new job last week and the first three days weren’t too bad. Then on my last day of work for the week, a different co-worker from another shift was helping out. First, she was rude about something with a client. Then, she came over by me and said ‘hey, how ya doing?’ to which I replied, ‘hi, I’m good, how are you?’ She said…

Healthy Yumminess
Fresh potatoes, yellow squash and zucchini, chopped garlic cloves, sautéed with oil, creole seasoning, Himalayan salt, dried chives, and basil. The kitchen smelled incredible and supper was delicious!

Home
I’m always thankful for days spent at home. I am a homebody at heart and love to be in my space. Introverted, I don’t always want to be out and about, part of the crowds. Unless I’m shopping, visiting loved ones, out for a walk, or going to a local event, I’m perfectly content being at home, surrounded by own belongings and my cats. It’s where I find comfort in a world of chaos. My son and I…

Communities Coming Together
Up north, I worked in a role that was part family services and part early childhood education. Part of my role was to help families find local resources within our community when they needed a little extra help. Offering information about the food pantries in our area was a resource for families to utilize. We had two food pantries available for anyone who was a resident in the area, income…

My Current Testimony
I recently decided to renew my faith in the Divine, in God. I have always held a good amount of faith, of belief, in a Higher Power, in our Creator. Life, however, has gotten in the way many times, resulting in laziness on my part to pray and show gratitude. Recently, in this past year, I have started branching out to learning about other belief systems such as Buddhism, Paganism, and Gnostic…

Tiny Home Living
Just over a month ago, my adult son and I moved back to Mississippi to be near our family. It was time. Everything seemed to be pushing us away from Wisconsin. While the state is absolutely beautiful, the winters are harsh and were becoming more of a nuisance. The first snowfalls are always beautiful and the holidays are not the same without a bit of a winter wonderland surrounding you, but six…

Missing Piece of the Puzzle
Last year was a rough year. I had a co-worker who caused a great deal of anxiety, was more controlling and the type who liked everything being carried out her way. I felt more and more that I needed to speak up and have my opinions heard. I prefer doing my work more efficiently and in an organized fashion. I don’t hoard materials and supplies and want meetings or gatherings to start and end in a…

A New Beginning in the Blogging World
I have not blogged in quite some time and my prior blogs were under a different pretense.  I wrote often about my journey into vegetarianism and shared my thoughts and reflections on health issues and animal cruelty.
I’m thinking these future blogs will be more of a journal for myself and maybe will continue to be inspiration for others.  As I’ve always said, even if I can reach even one person who is touched by my words or experiences, then it makes all the difference and is worth it. Humanity has become quite cruel on many levels.  However, we really only have each other in this world.  So, I believe reaching out and trying to find common ground is the first step in sharing truth, making connections, and finding oneself.
My future blogs will be random.  It may be a passionate rant one day and an honest expression of faith, hope, prayer the next.  It may be a retelling of something funny that happened, sarcastic analogies, or possibly something that made me feel sad or confused.  My life is day by day and I am okay with that.  I enjoy writing and am willing to post my thoughts online for others to connect with, if they choose. Regardless of what I write about, I will say that my words will always be real and honest.
Stay tuned…

None But You
God always knows when to send me that nagging feeling, that feeling that I know means ‘you need church, get your butt to church’. A couple Sundays ago, I was in church when I heard the pastor announce a very convenient message, one that I needed to hear in that moment. “No one can condemn you. No one can charge God’s chosen.” It had been an emotionally taxing week dealing with typical chaos –…

“When the faith is strong enough, it is sufficient just to be. It’s a journey towards simplicity, towards quietness, towards a kind of joy that is not in time. It’s a journey that has taken us from primary identification with our body and our psyche, on to an identification with God, and ultimately beyond identification.”
