“ — okay, i’ll bite. the fuck is it?”
“This is why I like visiting you, Red. You’re always so polite.” Ren sat on the corner of his desk and regarded him. “I’ll tell you the truth - I’m really bored.”

sephirothskeyblade:
Sephiroth had found the consultant in no time. Something about this whole situation felt oddly conversant. That despite how strange all of this was, he knew ShinRa so well, knew its inner workings and employees so well, he had known where to find them immediately. Part of him wanted to feel proud, but on a much deeper level, it was unnerving. If he became too sure of things, they would get to him.
Whenever situations at Shinra HQ felt too familiar and calm, he knew right away that he needed to be more suspicious of what was going on. After all, the last time around that he felt like his life was going well and he knew what he was doing and where he was at, they had decided he needed to get married.
He made sure the consultants knew exactly what they had to do, also ordering them to fill up the fridge a little and to change the bedsheets. At least make the place feel a little homely.
Once they had his instructions written down, he turned around to go back. After all, they had to practice a few more times and there were more things to discuss. He barely knew her at all, he needed to figure out who he was going to live with.
As he came back in, he gave her a quick nod.
“They’ll make sure to bring everything to my apartment. You don’t have to worry about anything.”
He sat down next to Ren again, not sure what he wanted to do next. Well, he knew what he wanted to do, but that was not an option. He wanted to talk to his friends about this, he wanted to get their help with everything that was going to happen to him, that ShinRa had planned for him. But as things were at the moment, that wasn’t going to happen.
Ren nodded back at her superior. “Thank you. Maybe...after we go over it one more time, we can call it a day? They’ve officially retired me from SOLDIER, but I’m sure you have other demands on your time today than babysitting me.”
She looked toward him, finally finding the courage to meet his gaze squarely. It was a difficult thing to do, meeting those otherworldly eyes, but she felt the need to say what she had to say. “I’m truly sorry that they’ve done this to you, and I’m sorry you’ll end up stuck with me for the rest of our lives. But...I’ll do my absolute best to not be a burden or get in your way. And I’ll do my best to be perfect in front of the cameras, so they’ll buy everything. I know it isn’t much to offer, but it’s all I can do.” She stood to her feet. “Shall we?”
She went through their routine, the script they’d decided on one more time with him, then gave him a small smile. “I think we have it pretty well down. If you want, we could run through it once or twice more this evening, though. After all...if we’re going to live side by side, I have a feeling we’ll be spending a lot of time together.” Ren stood herself to attention, trying to at least give him the respect that a superior deserved from a subordinate. “I know that they put us in this room, but they didn’t give us orders to stay here all day, and since you’re the highest rank in this room, if you say we’re dismissed, I’ll consider myself dismissed.” She gave him a small wink, a tiny gesture she hoped would convey somehow that she considered them to be on the same side and awaited his order.

sephirothskeyblade:
Sephiroth watched Ren closely, waiting for a reaction. He was fully aware that what he had suggested also meant a big step for her and giving up some of his already meager amount of privacy for him, but based on the information he had, this still seemed like the best option. And ShinRa had probably planned for something like this to happen either way.
Seeing her positive reaction definitely helped him calm down a little as well. Seeing her so tense had as well as the thought of everything Hojo did in his lab made him clench his jaw and tense his shoulders a lot more than he would like to admit.
Ren promised immediately to not take up much space, that she didn’t bring much with her and that she would not be too noticeable. And while she clearly meant well, Sephiroth hoped that she would not be too disappointed with how impersonal the apartment was going to be, especially for two people. It was minimalistic, white except for the somewhat-badly-hidden touches of color and everything in it served a clear purpose. Perhaps they would have to go and get some decorations on some point because otherwise Ren might not feel too comfortable living in a place like that.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll tell them.”
That way he could at least let them know that they also needed to dispose of the colorful pillows and coasters while they were at it. Might as well make the best of this situation.
Sephiroth got up and awkwardly squeezed Ren’s shoulder the way Angeal or Zack did usually. It felt weird and unnatural and he was not sure if the reassuring intention behind it came across at all. If anything, he might just have made her feel even worse.
Trying to immediately forget about that, he left the room to go after the consultant.
Ren noticed the way his jaw tensed when they spoke of Hojo, and realized they might share something in common in that regard. Experimentation on members of SOLDIER wasn’t something Shin-Ra discussed publicly, but it was a fact that any member was basically aware of - they were the playthings of the science department. And Sephiroth had been raised in SOLDIER...so she couldn’t help but think that Hojo’s cruelty was something he was all too familiar with. She thought about it a bit more when he left the room to tell the consultant they’d be sharing an apartment.
Thinking of that also gave her a small jolt. She never imagined she’d be in this situation when she joined SOLDIER...she was Sephiroth’s unofficial fiancee and about to be sharing his apartment. Not that it was anything he wanted, nor the way she imagined, but she wondered if it made her terrible if a small part of her was slightly excited at the prospect of being this close to someone she’d admired and looked up to since she was much younger. Still, it wasn’t as if she’d be able to talk to him about their first meeting in this horrible situation, much less thank him.
This sort of thinking would get her nowhere. She needed to be prepared to be as unobtrusive as possible, and not cause issues in her new residence and this new life she was being forced to live. She straightened her back and sat straight as the door opened again.

ancientblxde:
Did she really understand or was she tagging along with what he said just to fill the silence of waiting for Lazard to finish up what he was doing? Honestly it could have been either or but Masamune didn’t care since not long afterwards, Lazard’s door opened up as he beckoned both of them inside. Hearing the blond director as he spoke up about the changes, ah then he did get the email his master sent, very good. Walking into Lazard’s office, as he was so familiar with it thousands of times over from how many times him and his master even set foot in this place. Though standing near the purple haired soldier as Lazard started explaining the changes since thanks to Hojo being the asshole that he was. Whatever right?
However turning his attention as the female introduced herself, Masamune nodded back as he then shook the younger’s hand, though tilting his head a bit since her eyes widened a bit. Raising an eyebrow as nothing really was alarming him that she was off her handle, he just hoped she worked well with him in the mission. “Rehwyfar……I assume that’s why everyone calls you Ren right? Easier to pronounce and easier to remember. Same with my name, Masamune but Masa rolls off the tongue easier.” Plus a second class, now he was wondering if she was up for promotion but didn’t want to ask that question as of yet as he let his hand drop from the handshake as he faced the director.
“So, what’s the low down of the mission Director? My master briefly informed me but was too much in a hurry to get to the labs so I might ask the main man in question.”
When he took his hand from hers, Ren realized how oddly she was probably behaving and her cheeks burned a bit with embarrassment. Still, she couldn’t help staring at him every now and again, wondering if what she’d heard was true, or if the Lifestream was somehow punking her.
Lazard adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose. “We’ve received reports that an elite group of Wutai resistance is infiltrating Midgar with designs on eventually infiltrating the company and getting close enough to assassinate the President. We’re relying on the two of you to track these insurgents and flush them out before they can accomplish this mission.”
Ren stopped analyzing her partner as Lazard explained the mission. This was far more important and high priority than any mission she’d yet been sent on. No wonder Lazard had originally intended the mission for Sephiroth. She gave Lazard a salute. “We won’t let you down, sir.”
Lazard regarded Ren for a moment. “I know you’ve not been a 2nd for very long, Ren...but you’ve performed admirably up to this point, and that’s why we’re trusting you with this assignment.” His gaze shifted to Masa. “And we’re trusting YOU to back her up, Masa.” Ren felt her PHS vibrate in her pocket and pulled it out. “You should just have received the intelligence we have regarding the location of this pocket insurgency, and the description of the person we believe to be their spy. When you are ready, please depart for the slums immediately.” He sat back in his chair. “Dismissed.”
Ren saluted and went to leave the office. She decided it was wise to check and make sure her materia was of the sort she would need for this mission before running out into the streets. After all, she would only be able to call on magic she had materia for, lest Masa suspect her secret. She waited for the blade to catch up to her before saying, “I’m going to double check my materia really quickly before we leave, if that’s okay.”

sephirothskeyblade:
Sephiroth allowed Ren to just rest for a moment. Clearly she needed to sort out her thoughts and something like that would not benefit from being rushed. And as awful as this situation was to him, he was used to ShinRa’s nonsense, he had experience with their plans and ideas. She didn’t. At least not to this extent. So as overwhelmed as he already was, she was probably a thousand times worse off with all of this.
He sat down next to her, unsure what to do with himself for a moment. He wanted to comfort her somehow, show her that he was there for her as much as he could, give her some reassurance. In the end, he took too long trying to think of something to do, so he just sat there as she spoke up again.
Hearing her apologize was strange. None of this was her fault, she had done nothing wrong. In fact, she had helped him quite a bit! He was glad to have her in this situation and not someone who just decided to use their new unique position to show off how incapable Sephiroth was on a social level. There were always people that were just a little too excited to make him look bad and while Shinra could usually provide some damage control, it was hurtful, and in this situation, with everything being public like that, potentially useless. If everyone out there saw him incapable of normally interacting with someone he didn’t have to deal with on a day to day professional level, he might not be able to recover from that. And neither would ShinRa.
As soon as Ren hinted at one person in particular scaring her, he sighed, knowing exactly who she was talking about. Of course. Everyone had their issues with a colleague from time to time, that much was normal, but there was only one person out there who terrified even the higher-ups themselves and never ceased to horrify.
“I understand.”
His own apartment was a bit of a mess at the moment. At least by his standards. Genesis had called it sterile and eerie before, so he had tried to change that, adding some plants that had died almost instantly and some touches of color in the form of red and pink pillows and coasters that he immediately began to despise so he somewhat nonchalantly threw them behind the sofa and underneath the toaster and microwave so he no longer had to see them. Still easy enough to get them back out whenever Genesis decided to come over. But surprise guests would definitely find this strange and with the image of Sephiroth that most people seemed to have, maybe even psychopathic. Either way, they would be weirded out.
Despite all of that, he decided that those things could be explained away easily enough and looked at Ren, telling her: “You will stay with me, then. Far away from Hojo.”
His eyes meeting hers gave Ren a strange sensation...Sephiroth’s eyes were so unique as it was, with their feline pupils and mixed green and blue coloring. Ren could easily see how a person could get lost in them. When he made his offer to her, she snapped out of her musings on his eyes with a jolt, however. She had not had it in mind when she explained her dread of the labs and her fear of Hojo. It seemed almost too generous and she was about to turn it down, when she realized there really wasn’t any alternative. It was either move in with Shin-Ra’s greatest general, or live near the labs and risk becoming Hojo’s newest plaything.
Not that she hadn’t already experienced that. She knew he’d tampered with her - experimented on her - at least once, and she had a strong suspicion there had been more times. And giving him such access to her, he was bound to find out the secret she was working so hard to conceal. So she gave Sephiroth a small smile, one she hoped conveyed at least some of her gratitude. “Thank you, I really appreciate it.” She pondered for a moment about the effects the consultant said they had obtained from her apartment.
“I don’t...have any furniture, nor many clothes or possessions period. I won’t take up much room.” She said this apologetically. He was generous enough to allow her to stay, she really didn’t want to disrupt his life any more than was necessary. She would be glad to sleep on the floor if it kept her away from the labs. With this in mind, she got to her feet. “Do you want me to tell the consultant?” She already felt a release in her chest, like a weight had vanished and she could breathe again.

sephirothskeyblade:
It was strange. He had been sore many times in his life, but this was different. His face felt sore. Not even in the same way his muscles did after a particularly good workout where he could at least enjoy the feeling, because it meant he did well. His face just hurt from this game of make-believe that ShinRa had forced onto them. His cheeks felt hard and when he wasn’t speaking, he had begun to bite the insides of them. His eyes were burning. He had realized halfway through their last practice round that he had just straight up forgotten to blink at all, that he was so focused on doing things the right way that he had to actively remember to breathe, to blink and to move beyond the instructed motions.
Nevertheless, they seemed to be getting better. So, at the end of the day, he would be alright. Ren still seemed a little worried about everything, but compared to the first couple of minutes they had spend together, she appeared a lot calmer now. That is, until one of the consultants interrupted them.
Nothing the consultant told them seemed particularly strange or out of place, at least as far as Sephiroth could tell, but having been with ShinRa for so long, he might just not be able to notice anymore. Ren seemed more than just a little perturbed, though.
Sephiroth could not exactly pinpoint what had caused her reaction, whether it was losing her apartment or that she would have to wait for one to become available here. Or even that she had to stay near the labs. For him, the labs were a fairly normal place to stay. Not all of the rooms were particularly comfortable, but since he was usually undergoing wellness checks or tests while he was there anyway, he couldn’t have cared less. The scientists around the labs had been a much bigger factor of discomfort for him than the rooms he had stayed in. Still, he understood if the labs were the most unsettling part in all of this for Ren.
Then again, he might have misinterpreted her reaction all together, since she quickly turned back to face him and suggested another round of practice.
He stared at her for a few seconds, thinking about whether or not it was appropriate for him to ask about how she was feeling. Nobody had informed him about the details of Ren’s contract with ShinRa, after all, and she might have been aware of all these things before and simply reacted negatively towards being interrupted.
“Do you want to? You seem…stressed. I would not want you to continue if you were too…”, he stopped, trying to think of a word that did not immediately reveal his suspicions about the cause for her discomfort. “…if you were too fatigued. We can take a break.”
Ren took a grateful breath and sat back down. “Yes, that sounds good.” Not that it was actually going to solve anything, but at least it would give her time to collect herself and settle her nerves. She took slow, deep breaths, folding her hands like a small tent over the bridge of her nose and closing her eyes for a moment.
After she’d had a moment to breathe, it occurred to her that he might think this was a reaction to the situation between the two of them, that she was simply overwhelmed and unable to continue. Yes, it was true that they were being thrown into this with no regard for their own desires and feelings, but that didn’t change the facts. They were going to be married in a short time, and whether or not that marriage was based on affection, it wouldn’t be a very good one if they were both working to hide things from each other all the time.
So she decided to have an honest moment with Sephiroth. “I’m sorry for this. It has nothing to do with you. It’s just I’m not overjoyed at being placed so near to the labs.” Ren explained.  “I’m actually not fond of medical, but I think it’s mostly because I’m absolutely terrified of one person in particular who works there, and the thought of them being that close...” She shuddered involuntarily as a shiver ran up and down her spine, but she did her best to force her unease back down. “Anyway...I just need a moment to get my composure back. Thank you for suggesting a break.”

turkoftheslums:
“I know, I know,” he snorted with a smirk. “Me n’ Rude go on walks n’ stuff around the city on occasion. Hell, we’ve even grabbed coffee together. It won’t be any different than that.”
Exhaling through his nose, Reno laced his fingers together and leaned back in the chair. “Honestly, yeah. I feel ya. Us Turks don’t really trust R&D much.” Sure they did odd jobs for the science department such as gathering research specimens and helping gather candidates for the SOLDIER program but that didn’t mean they had to like each other.
“I mean– yeah. I’m not exactly one to speak regardin’ stayin’ in bed here.” His past escapades could attest to that. Getting Reno to stay in the infirmary WITHOUT security was always a ridiculous hassle. “But you’re on the right track to gettin’ the staff t’let you out. Sign the documents promisin’ you’ll be good and woosh, you’re out. Or that might just be me with my bad behaviour.”
And a naughty smile to go.
Ren was feeling a little like she was crawling in her own skin. If Reno left the room now, she wasn’t sure she wouldn’t grab onto his jacket and beg him to stay, which she knew the redhead wouldn’t like, but her distrust and paranoia was so thick, she felt like any doctor or nurse might be Hojo’s spy.
The next time a nurse came back, she insisted on getting her discharge paperwork. Limping out to her apartment in the slums might be tricky, but better that than here. She signed the form that said she was leaving against advice, and went into the bathroom in her hospital room to change. Once she was back in uniform and not helpless in a bed hooked up to an IV, she felt better. She turned to the redhead and gave him a smile. “So...I’ll meet you at 8? Let’s see what we can get up to.”

unrequiteddeath:
The journey from the apartment complex to the weapon storage was relatively short, and from the Director’s perspective, without issue. Not that he expected there to be anything amiss– and yet, in his vocation, there was almost an unwritten rule of anticipating the unexpected.  “Of course, Miss Tenjou. I think you may have… a misconception about SOLDIER. While we have some restrictions regarding workplace matters, your personal life is… largely kept private. What you choose to do with your belongings is not necessarily something needing permission.” He explained as he approached a booth where a once sleepy looking worker looked up. But all signs of fatigue vanished once the said worker realized who it was that had come by.  “Good afternoon, Mr. Smit. This is Miss Renhwfar Tenjou. She will need an issue of standardized gear. I also believe she has some personal equipment to be inspected”
“I understand that, sir, I just thought mailing weapons might generally be frowned upon.” Ren followed Lazard, and at his greeting to the worker, she removed two pieces of metal from the pockets of her jeans. As she put them down, they unfolded with a snap into two circle-shaped blades, each with a paired materia slot in the center. The metal that comprised the blades was inlaid with blue gems at intervals, and both blades looked wickedly sharp.
As the worker took them from her to inspect, she accepted the bundle of Third Class fatigues, as well as standard issue boots, and the famous belt with the SOLDIER logo on it, as well as suspenders, shoulder armor pauldrons, and gloves. She hoped she wasn’t going to find out they were two sizes too big or anything, she hadn’t seen a single recruit her size since they arrived. “Sir, will I need to have these altered?” She asked as they waited for the inspection of her weapons to be finished.

A Special Existence
Of course his master would ask him to take his spot in the mission but seeing how Hojo had called him last minute for a series of test, not caring if he was assigned for a mission or not, the blade got the instructions needed and his master quickly emailed Director Lazard explaining the change. Still, normally he never took on a mission himself but knowing that he was a partner made it a bit easier as he sighed and nodded. While he might be a weapon of a First Class Soldier, that doesn’t mean he was equal to his master’s skills since it was in fact the opposite. Yet seeing how there was nothing else for his master to say to him, the blade and him parted ways before making his way to the director’s office. Might as well be early just in case right since this was a change in plans and the director has to change a bunch of orders around since it wasn’t his master going.
Getting out of the elevator as it dinged and opened on the Soldier floor, he looked around to the other thirds and seconds that were around as he few were laughing with their friends, and the rest were going about their day as he breathed out. As he started walking, it didn’t take long for the weapon to make it over to the other’s office, only to find that the door was closed, meaning that he was in a meeting with whoever as he sighed. But he did also noticed the 2nd class waiting there as well and shrugged since perhaps she was there for a mission from the director and arrived to early as well. Weren’t they the suckers? Sighing as he then took out his PHS to see if he had any updates from his master, he then paused as he raised an eyebrow, glancing over since the female soldier seemed to be staring at him.
Great, already off to a fantastic start no? But putting his phone away as he turned his attention towards her as she then smiled at him before greeting, the silver tilted his head before hearing her speak. “Indeed. Need to make sure that the director got the change in the mission since I will be taking my master’s place as he had been called last minute by Hojo.” He wasn’t giving too much information away he hoped as he crossed his arms but just enough to keep the other occupied.
“Oh, I see.” Ren nodded, even though she wasn’t quite sure she understood. Who was he referring to as ‘master’? She didn’t know of any SOLDIERs having servants. He could not possibly be a member of the President, or Vice President’s household, right? Before Ren could ask any questions, the Director’s door opened, and he beckoned her inside. “Come in, Ren. And you as well, Masa. I was briefed on the changes.” When she saw the tall, silver-haired man enter with her, Ren realized he was replacing someone on HER mission. His ‘master’ whoever that was. “Please excuse the change, Ren. Originally, I had 1st Class Sephiroth assigned to this mission, but it appears the good Professor has derailed that plan. So please meet your new partner for this mission.” He nodded at Masa. Ren held out her hand to shake the other’s. “Hello, sir. I’m Second Class Rehwyfar Tenjou.” As soon as her hand brushed his, the voices of the Lifestream exploded in her ears, growing louder, whispering components...and a name...that made her eyes widen. She clamped her mouth shut, stunned at what she had found out. Could this person really be the personification of Sephiroth’s weapon??

❴⚔❵ —❝Apparently Shin-Ra’s reach is farther than we know.❞ It doesn’t surprise him at this point. He merely continues his trek, ignoring the onlookers as he makes quick, purposeful strides back in the direction he’d came. ❝Do you remember how you ended up there? Did anyone approach you?❞ To have taken her this far out to a facility that looks as though it hasn’t been used in months stands out to him. It’s the details here that matter. As of now it doesn’t make much sense. When he’d found her, she’d been alone. Whoever had taken her fled the scene. He doubted whatever they got her for had been fulfilled. He may have interrupted the perp before they could do anything. At least, he hoped. ❝Once we return, it’s best you get checked.❞
“I...um...” Ren tried to think back to what happened before the lab, but her mind was a blur, with images she couldn’t seem to hold onto flicking by her mind’s eye. “No, I’m sorry. Nothing’s coming to mind. But since it’s a Shin-Ra lab...there is a reason why I might have ended up there.”
She hadn’t told him her secret. She hadn’t told anyone. But since this whole thing had happened, she knew it probably needed to be shared. But not here, and certainly not back at HQ. “Maybe, if you wouldn’t mind, sir...we can just go back to my apartment? I’m not comfortable returning to HQ when I’m unsteady like this.”

Things You May Not Have Known or Had Forgotten About FFVII
So I read some compilations of FFVII recently that were going around and I thought I’d make one of my own. For newer fans and older ones – From serious ones to hilarious ones, I’ve named a few. (Some spoilers)
Genesis’ fan club is sponsored by his foster parents in Banora.
Genesis’ parents saw the task of raising Genesis as a mere job from Shinra, however their affections for him grew over time.
The abandoned Banora mine was Genesis’ “secret base” as a child. It is home to his childhood accomplishments, and his place of play. Genesis also made Banora juice a product and even won an award for it, the “National Agriculture Awards, Processed Foods Category.” He keeps the reward there in his trophy case.
Genesis actually ends up with two fan clubs, not just one. The Red Leather, and Study Group. His fan club split because of a disagreement (his fandom is discourse haha) on what subject to focus on. Though Zack can cause them to merge again.
Reminder Sephiroth uses an entire bottle of shampoo and conditioner in his hair each time he washes it.
Sephiroth used to sneak into the training room with Angeal and Genesis to spar. His fan club knows this.
Speaking of his fan club, the Silver Elite is very exclusive and Zack could only join after taking a quiz to prove his knowledge of Sephiroth.
Apparently Professor Hojo leads this fan club, posing as the head chairwoman.
Angeal was a thief as a kid. He grew up stealing things. People never mention this. He was a thief by necessity, but that’s still a huge character point in his life that’s always overlooked for some reason.
Angeal’s fan club talks about his love of nature, and how he’s a skilled cook. Not only that, but he seems to have an unusual skill of successfully cooking new dishes with leftovers.
Angeal carries a camera with him on missions. He uses it to take pictures of beautiful scenery. His fan club says it is his most valuable possession, and a gift from his mother.
Zack may have been Angeal’s actual protégé’, but there were a lot of SOLDIERs who revere Angeal and considered him their mentor and idol. He was genuinely, ‘the ideal SOLDIER operative and the organization’s spiritual leader.’ He passes this influence on to Zack.
Lazard wanted revenge, but when he became an Angeal Clone he became almost like Angeal’s own Remnant. People forget he helped bust Zack and Cloud out. Lazard also confesses Angeal’s real dreams to Zack, confessing that what Angeal most wanted was to help Zack, to save Genesis, and even to save the entire world.
All of the Trinity SOLDIERs did in fact have hero complexes.
It isn’t just fandom that Angeal refers to Zack as a puppy. That’s canon. Angeal’s mother Gillian tells Zack that in her son’s letters to her he mirthfully refers to his pupil as Zack the Puppy in them, and remarks on his puppy-like traits. Much to Zack’s embarrassment.
In some form or way, Zack’s parents have adopted Cissnei into their family.
Also, Zack’s been missing for years and his mother is seriously worried that this might mean Zack won’t be able to find a wife. Which while hysterical, is also so incredulous to even think about.
Sephiroth was actually expressive throughout Crisis Core, and he openly tried to bond with Zack. When he was on his way to Modeoheim and heard Zack was in the area he purposefully stopped to see him and pass on recent information to him. Despite how Sephiroth is normally portrayed as being incredibly standoffish or lacking in the EQ department, and Zack is portrayed as the bundle of reassurances, that encountered showed the exact opposite. Sephiroth was shown to have an openly sarcastic side and was shown to reassure others when faced with their distress – like he did with Zack. People always forget this, myself included.
Zack literally beat the crap out of three armored gun-wielding Genesis copies while in his swimming trunks and only wielding a beach umbrella.
Kunsel is the most unsung hero of Crisis Core, and probably the whole Final Fantasy 7 franchise tbh. Don’t ever think for a minute he’s a minor character like he is labeled. Throughout the game he boasts insider knowledge regarding the movements of Genesis, Angeal, Sephiroth, and even knows that the Jenova Project resulted in a huge fiasco twenty years ago in the science department. He even actively emails Zack when he escapes from Nibelheim to try and help him and was ready to go against Shinra for his friend. Worst part is? No one actually knows what happened to him after Crisis Core. Did he escape? Did Shinra get him? Did something else happen? Who knows.
Hilariously, Aerith turned down Zack’s offer of a date in life, and in death. Girl really did that. Read her novella.
Tifa and Cloud mutually pined for one another as kids, despite the popular belief that it was only Cloud who had a crush. The fact they sort of avoided each other after the incident on the mountain is what made Cloud think Tifa doesn’t like him.
Tifa and Aerith were able to complete each other’s sentences, and they did this several times in game. They were also together most of the time when they went to towns. And when Cloud talks about wanting to meet Aerith again in the Promised Land, Tifa says she wants to see her again too.
Vincent was lowkey funny and it was honestly the best. Don’t believe me? He once told Yuffie, “I don’t care what you’re doing, so much as the stupid way you’re doing it.” He also told Reeve he didn’t think he dressed very interestingly (in DoC), which was made even funnier when Reeve stated he’d spent all morning trying to decide what to wear beforehand.
Houdini literally has nothing on Yuffie. She has been escaping from elite officers, the top ninjas of Wutai, since she was a very young princess.
In the game you could dress Cloud up with a choice of dresses, tiara, and even undergarments. Apparently Cloud is beautiful enough that even with Aerith and Tifa dressed up and standing side-by-side to him, he was still deemed more beautiful than they were. Following that thought, Cloud later removes the dress when they spring their trap on Don Coreno. However Cloud doesn’t ever actually seem to remove his… undergarments. So, it could be canon that Cloud goes around wearing lingerie for a great deal of the game under his fatigues. Heck maybe the whole game afterwards. Sit on that for a while.
Cloud, Aeris, and Tifa sequentially threatened to, “Chop off, rip off, and smash,” Don Corneo’s junk. While doing a dramatic one-leg up on the bed lean-in pose. Gangsters.
Cloud actually said, “I ain’t INTERESTED in a bunch of scrubs like you!” when he removed his disguise again. (Again, the lingerie stays underneath?)
Also while speaking about disguises – we can’t forget Red XIII/Nanaki dressed up on that boat and literally everyone was too drunk to see through his Scooby-doo disguise can we?
Hojo actually does have a lot of admirers. And they’re not all academic. Let that settle in. Or don’t. Its creepy either way.
Palmer got hit by a truck and flung off screen during the game – now that was funny!
And perhaps most hilarious of all to remember… Does anyone else remember being turned into a Toad, and then everyone being turned into a Toad, and having an all frog vs. frog death match? Because that was something that could legit happen.
These were some off the top of my head. I didn’t want to add too many, but if you guys would like some more wacky funny facts let me know and I’ll make another one.
Here's some from me: Sephiroth has 23 different scents for his shampoo, and Shin-Ra rotates them. But his favorite scents are rose and vanilla.
The top three Firsts (Genesis, Angeal and Sephiroth) like to sneak into the VR Training room and...wait for it...take turns balancing a Banora White apple on their heads while their friends threw their swords at them trying to hit the apple. Because that seemed like a rational thing to do with their time. And apparently, Sephiroth is the champion of these games and has NEVER missed.

Sisters-in-Arms
“Oh! I’m Akirah, ma’am! Akirah Satoru,” she jumped to answer, even saluting in the process. Though she’d best start moving quickly or risk getting swamped. When did this place get so crowded!
Akirah tightened her grasp on the suitcase, ducking just like her ‘guide’. “If that other Second is the rule instead of the exception… I’ll have to watch my path a bit more carefully,” she sighed with a little smile. As the minutes wore on she was starting to relax. Though it was thoroughly embarrassing to realize that she’d gone just so far off course!
A whole other section of this building… though she probably should have expected as much with such unique circumstances. Akirah kept a close eye on her surroundings the whole way, including the elevator. That kept her decently distracted from her starstruck amazement from earlier…  “So it’s over here!” She reached for a pocket, tugging her own new keycard free. “I’d better keep this somewhere really safe then…”
With a little effort, the cadet hefted her suitcase inside, and to say she was surprised was an understatement. “I was expecting a little dorm room!” Akirah gasped aloud, dropping the case and running ahead a few steps, “This is a whole house!”

“Did everyone in SOLDIER get a place like this?” … she’d collected her suitcase one more time, carrying it further in while taking in the rooms.
Ren tried not to giggle at the young cadet’s bewilderment. “Yeah, it’s pretty standard. You should see Sephiroth’s place. It’s much bigger than this.” She gestured to one of two double beds in the main bedroom, which had its own door and sat to the side of a small sitting room area. The door leading in branched to the right where there was a small bathroom, and to the left a kitchen and a bar with stools to sit at. “My bed is this one.” Ren pointed as they went into the room. “You can make yourself at home in the other. And you can use the drawers and closet as much as you want, I don’t have anything in there except my extra sets of fatigues. And my socks and underwear of course, but you’ll know which drawer is mine.”
Ren went to sit down at the kitchen table and let the girl, Akirah, get her stuff put away so that she could lead her back to commissary.

“oh fuck off.” his desk was a mess, but that was a norm. had been ever since he first took the damn thing all those years ago & that definitely wasn’t going to change any time soon. “whoever invented paperwork should burn in ifrit’s fiery ass.”
Ren tried not to giggle at the analogy. It was a very odd picture to the imagination. “Don’t look at me.” It took another moment, but she managed to bring her laughter under control. She shifted slightly, leaning her hip against the edge of his messy desk. Hard to believe, but this mouthy redhead was still someone she considered one of her closest friends. Not that she had that many to begin with. And not that he returned the feeling in any way.
“But the real reason I ended up down here is that since the Mass Desertion, they’re not really allowing anyone in SOLDIER off base, and I’m tired of being poked and prodded for ‘fitness tests’ or to serve Hojo’s twisted whims. So I thought I’d come and see what the person who gave me these was doing at the moment.” She gestured at the goggles perched atop her head almost exactly like his were. “And see if I could possibly annoy him a little.”

"Hey, Ren!" Reno calls as he enters the room carrying a mysterious cardboard box. The redheaded Turk had recently clocked back in from patrol and carried the box with him the entire time. "Came across a cupcake sale while on patrol today. Didn't know what ones you like so I bought a whole box of 'em."
Ren looked at the proffered bakery box, and could hardly believe that Reno had it with him his entire patrol, yet all of the cupcakes looked pristine. “These are all for me?” She looked at the yummy-looking treats and picked up a chocolate cupcake with a purple frosting. “This one is calling my name, so I’ll start there.” She grinned at him. “Thanks!” She stood on tiptoe to kiss his cheek to emphasize her point. “I’d do our patented handshake as well, but it’s hard to do with a cupcake in my hand. I’d hate for it to end up on the floor.” She took a bite of the cupcake and enjoyed the delicious moist chocolate, not paying any attention to the purple frosting that now adorned her upper lip, making it look like she had a mustache.

“Why would I bring you any paperwork? We’re not from the same department, Red, and I haven’t done anything to incur either wrath or interest from the Turks in a while.” She smirks at the redhead. “But even if I DID come bearing dead tree carcasses with writing on them...something tells me you wouldn’t be done with them in a while, judging by the state of your desk.”

“if yer here to give me more paperwork, leave.”

A Special Existence
“We need to keep our eyes on her. This one...this one is...different. She is...special.”
There is a face that she can’t make out looking down on her, and a voice that haunts her nightmares. Then inevitably they take a turn for something far worse.
“It looked like...our...our dead mothers...and our dead brothers...”
A calamity from the sky...slaughter...sickness...madness...and blood.
Ren sat upright in bed, her breath coming in harsh gasps. They were getting worse, these nightmares. Worse every day since she woke up in medical two weeks after the AVALANCHE attack on HQ and found herself suddenly promoted to 2nd Class. They said she had a head injury and that’s why her memories were absent. But they also seemed very anxious for her to accept the promotion and not ask too many questions.
Ren ran a hand through her short, violet hair. No point in trying to get any more sleep. Might as well get the day started. She had a mission today, after all. She dragged herself to the shower in her apartment, got dressed and left for the train. When she got to HQ, she headed to commissary for a quick bite and some coffee, before finally reporting to the Director’s office, still a good 15 minutes early. She was waiting outside the Director’s door for his current meeting to finish, when she noticed another person approach.
She did a double take, because out of the corner of her eye, she thought the person was Sephiroth...but when she turned her head to look full on at him, she noticed differences. For one the color of the eyes was off, for another...well...the Lifestream was urgently whispering to her about something, which it didn’t usually do around any of her fellow SOLDIERs. Still, they might have been twins...
Realizing she was being rude, standing there staring, Ren tried for a smile and started with a greeting. “Hello. Waiting for Director Lazard as well?”
