Jade’s POV was heartbreaking, I felt everything, the pain, the fear, the love and so much more

For me the ending was perfect for the story, even if I wanted so moreeee

If you love A Thousand and One Nights, Middle Eastern culture and YA Fantasy, add to that, some words in Urdu, the must for me, then this book is for you^^

The story is captivating and so beautiful :)

When Sharhrzad volunteers to be the next wife of the Caliph of Khorasan, Khalid.

I just loved Sharhrzad (Shazi) from the beginning

« My king.” I will live to see tomorrow’s sunset. Make no mistake. I swear I will live to see as many sunsets as it takes. And I will kill you. With my own hands. »

Shazi and the beautiful monster Khalid won me over

« The caliph swiveled to face the shahrban. “You’re right, General. You do not understand. And you may never understand. Regardless, I’d like to introduce you to the Mountain of Adamant . . .” The caliph glanced back at Shahrzad, a ghost of a smile playing across his lips. “My queen. »

« I could never love such a man . . . such a monster. » well he already stole my heart girl

And I feel goosebumps and butterflies in every Khalid’s scene, word...

« Khalid stayed silent for a moment. “You have a beautiful laugh. Like the promise of tomorrow.” »

« When he caught her staring at his mouth, Khalid exhaled slowly. “Shazi—” “Be with me tonight,” she breathed. “In all ways. Be mine.” His eyes turned to fire. “I’ve always been yours.” He cupped her chin in his palm. “As you’ve always been mine. »

Shazi was a refreshing main character. Did I mentioned I loved her ?

« She nodded. “I can’t say I’m surprised. As for me? I believe I’ll leave this set of goods on the rack, as well. I have no interest in . . . tiny cucumbers.” At this, Khalid’s head twisted to hers, his eyes registering shock. And the edge of his lips twitching. The silence around them was deafening for a painful beat. Then a wild chorus of amusement filled the air. »

My royal couple, they are sexy and consuming <3

I missed the original brothers, the romance, the true BDB and with this book, The Black Dagger Brotherhood world is back!

This book follows two couples: Marissa and Butch / Craeg and Paradise.

And let me tell you that Blood Kiss was a really good start with GREAT female characters

I shipped Paradise ( an aristocratic daughter who’s father works for the King as his first advisor ) and Craeg ( a commoner who joined the training program )

« It was raw and it was honest, just between the two of them. And that made it … beautiful. Because it was real. »

« Do you like playing with fire, girl?” he growled. “Because if you keep looking at me like that, I’m going to burn you to the ground. »

Magic Mike scene with the females, OMG freaking hilarious, best scene of the book.

« They’re watching Magic Mike,” someone said. “Is that a children’s show?” He sat back as Fritz put a heaping plate of lamb in front of him. “Thanks, man—oh, thanks, yeah, I’d love a drink. I’ll take a Lagavulin on the rocks—” Butch stopped talking as he realized the entire table of males was looking at him. “What?” “You haven’t heard about Magic Mike?” Rhage demanded. “No.” He leaned back again as his drink was delivered. “Thanks. Is it like Barney?” “It’s about strippers,” Hollywood countered. Butch frowned and lowered the glass from his lips. “I’m sorry? »

I loved the new, young recruits and I am looking forward to seeing more of them in the next books

I never disliked Marissa even though I shipped V and Butch and I missed them so much

« I need to go on a date, he thought. “Where are we going?” V asked in his ear. Shit, he’d said that out loud. “Not you.” “Hurt. Seriously hurt over here,” came the tinny reply. »

I loved how Paradise and Craeg couldn't resist each other

« If I kiss you,” he growled, “there’s no going back. I might not fuck you right here, right now, but I’ll have you on your back the instant I get the goddamn chance. »

« I’m going to show you how to take care of that by yourself. And you’re going to make me come when I listen to what it sounds like.”

I think I liked Marissa even more in this book than I did in her own

When V told Marissa about Butch and Xhex

When Craeg saved Paradise’s life after their fight

Just a little sad that I didn't get any Quay in this book, but over all I loved this book and can't wait for the next one :)

Vespertine was a fantastic, emotional, heartbreaking and passionate story.

I loved everything about this story, from the plot to the amazing characters, Nicky and Jazz. I really tried to read the story slowly and to savor every word but I failed.

I wanted to see how this was going to turn out. 17 years have passed since Nicky & Jasper has seen each other.

Let’s talk about the topic, a priest and a rockstar, forbidden love, hidden desire...

‘God owned his soul, but Nicky would always have his heart.’

**** SPOILERSSSSS ****

First we met Nicky, or Nico Blue (aka Nicholas Blumfeld), the talented songwriter, and guitarist for the very popular rock band called, Vespertine.

He is A star, A mess, A broken and lost boy, also dead inside, lonely, sad. ...

‘Until he could fix himself, the music was as sick as he was.’

Father Jasper Hendricks, or Jazz, is the priest who loves God and his work. And he runs a LGBT homeless shelter. He is also the boy who captured and broke Nicky’s heart at seventeen.

He is the openly gay Catholic priest in his small hometown of Little Heights, Maine.

When Nicky ( fresh out of rehab ) decided to get his shit together and returns Home to get a fresh start. I wanted to hug him so bad

« He’d almost found what he was looking for when the man spoke, and Jasper’s eyes flew open. “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned…. so much.”

Nicky and Jazz in the confessional...

« You’re sorry I’m angry? What the fuck does that mean? How about you’re sorry for what you did instead of how I’m feeling. »

« Oh, I know. Maybe you’d like me to forgive you for fucking me through the mattress until I cried out for your precious God ? Screwing with my head for months before you dropped your bombshell of priestly ambition on me?” He was on a roll now. Jazz’s silence goaded him.

« I remember every minute, you know? From our first kiss to our last.” Nicky dropped his voice. “The first time you put your mouth on my dick. Yeah, I remember that really fucking well. »

« But everything spilled out, unstoppable now. “It was you and the lack of you, and me swallowing all the cocks in the world hoping to fill the place inside that just wanted your goddamn smile; your hand in mine. Just your presence. Just to hear you breathe. It would have been enough. »

When Jasper ( not Jazz yet, because falling for him took me a few chapters ) is struggling with his feelings toward Nicky...

« Give me the strength to be what Nicky needs, to show him the way out of darkness into his light.”Because he used to shine so brightly. Jasper covered his face and whispered, “Amen. »

« Jazz’s fingers were electric on his wrist and Nicky pulled away. Jazz’s cheeks flushed and his eyes went dark with emotion. “You said you thought I’d never loved you.” Nicky stared at Jazz. His throat went tight, his heart pounding hard. »

“I knew I was gay from a very young age. See, I met this little kid with dark brown, wavy hair and sky-blue eyes and he stole my heart.”

Jasper and Nicky have a history and it began with a friendship. They were friends, who shared all their firsts and then were torn apart.

« With his first words, “Hey, my name’s Jasper,” he’d somehow grabbed hold of Nicky’s hands and pulled him out of the cage he’d been in his whole life. He’d made him a real boy. Fucking Jazz. »

The religion aspect of this romance was done beautifully and respectfully

« You know that I’ve never made a secret of it even though my orientation should be of no one’s concern. I live a celibate life just like any other Catholic priest.” He bristled. “And I’m not the only out gay priest in the world. As long as we don’t commit sexual acts, just like heterosexual priests, we’re allowed to serve. Has that changed? »

Now that Nicky is back, Jasper’s conflicts are back in spades. He’s now questioning the path he chose.

« I felt Him in you, in the joy I felt when I was with you. It confused things for me.” Nicky shuddered. “That’s creepy.”

“What?”

“Feeling God in me? Like when your dick was up my ass, you felt God? »

« No, you still don’t get it. I was looking for any possible way to get out of being a priest. I didn’t want this, Nicky. I wanted you.”

“Well, you could’ve fucking had me,” Nicky spit out. “So don’t tell me this shit. Don’t tell me you wanted me over God because that’s bullshit. You could have motherfucking had me. »

It’s sexy as sin...

“What is it, Father? Am I getting to you? Does it bother you that I still want you?” Nicky leaned forward a little and that wicked, wicked smile sucked all the oxygen out of the room. “Does it bother you that I still jerk off thinking of you? »

Jazz memories

“ At fourteen Jasper stands under Nicky's window, eyes closed listening to Nicky's music and thinks, I love him.

At sixteen, he watches Nicky sleep, sees his beauty and thinks, I want him.

At seventeen they run fast and free in the rain, and when they kiss it tastes like cloudburst, smells like wet leaves, and feels like the world ends and begins all over again. “

« He remembered what it was like to undress for the first time in front of the boy he loved. And oh heavens, he’d loved him so much. Even though it’d been dark, every angle of Nicky’s pure, untouched body was seared into Jasper’s brain like a tattoo. He’d learned to see with his hands that night. To drink with his eyes and feel with his mouth, and he’d thirsted like he’d been cursed to never be satisfied again. »

I loved the other characters like Ramona, Mrs. Wells, Nicky's Parents, Gus, Lizzie, Jason, except Jazz’s mother

« Is that what you wanted for your future, Jasper? Yes, I did my best to keep you away from him, and I was right to. He’s an addict and a whore.” “Mother! »

The part with the fox & badger tattoos

All I can say is this book is beautifully written and brings out so many emotions, an amazing story about love, second chance and forgiveness.

The End is too beautiful to spoil but I loved it. Nicky and Jazz gave me goosebumps, made me cry, they hooked me emotionally..
