8 YEARS AGO TODAY!! I made a similar run, however it was in Northeast Kansas City and it was my first run after the last time I would be in detox!! Not to go to much into my story, however in May of '04 I got clean off of ephedrine however alcohol and anger became my new friends and they were growing stronger every day!! In Aug of 2007, some friends who I consider family in SC made sure I made it up to MO to get some help. I wasn't ready then however it planted a seed that grew!! Fast forward to Nov 3, 2011 I left detox and thanks to God, the Healing House and COR, I made my first run sober and haven't drank since. I met my wife, we have two beautiful daughters and I'm enjoying life. Please don't think this is a alcohol is bad post its not! I have friends who can drink and I hang out with them and am totally fine with it!! No its a brief post about my journey, how I've been blessed because something that had complete control over me I was able to turn it over to God and the new journey. I had no idea I would get married and have kids, I never went on vacations after I left the service, I had no plans or ever thought I would own a house....now I have all of that and the most important is a family to share it with.
