One of my favorite kennings for Loki is "farmr Sigvinjar arma", which translates roughly to "the cargo of Sigyn's arms". Add a little Gustav Klimt to the equation, and you have an idea that's been plaguing me for months.

Recently I've been doing a deep dive into red flags that one may run into while in occult spaces. It's best to be educated so that in the instance you come across one of these red flags, you know when take the information you're receiving with a grain of salt. The following is a list of some red flags I've come across in my time as a Pagan. Some are pretty obvious, others not so much.
• Claiming St. Peter's cross is Satanic, or that Ankh is Christian
• Thelema, Aleister Crowley, or Magic with a K
• "Qabala" rather than actual Kabbalah
• Talking about Atlantis as if it's real
• Saying "real Satanists" don't believe in Satan or refusing to acknowledge the difference between theist and non-theist Satanists
•Claiming a crystal, incense, oil, herb or whatever else can be used in place of medicine
• The use of lightning bolt symbols, the Black Sun, etc
• Saying aliens built the Egyptian pyramids or that humans bred with aliens
• Saying the Illuminati controls everything or talks of a "New World Order"
• Weird fear-mongering or out-there conspiracies about Freemasonry
• Vaguely alluding to an all-powerful group that's only ever referred to as "the elites" or "they"
• Doing closed practices they aren't apart of
• Refusing to cite sources, or if they do cite sources, it's a TikTok or something
• Referring to ANYTHING the Nazis did
• Tribal tattoos from a tribe one isn't apart of
• Claiming they'll provide you forbidden knowledge or that if you follow their way of life you'll reach God or whatever
• Any mention of Aryans or some superior race
• Joy of Satan or The Order of Nine Angels
• Claiming "you were meant to see this video!" when it's a video that is showed to hundreds (or thousands) of people based on an algorithm
• Gatekeeping practices, worship, tools, etc, from a sex. IE, "only women can do this spell!"
• Recommending any work from scammers (ex: Joe Dispenza)
• Discouraging learning the history of a practice
• Claiming deities from different pantheons are the exact same. (Ex: Aphrodite and Venus)
• Using AI in place of real art, imagery, people, etc. (Seriously, I've seen shops on Etsy try to sell me tarot readings with a photo of an AI generated old lady claiming to do the readings, marketing it as if it's a real person.)
If you have ANYTHING else to add, please feel free to do so.

So, I'm sure I'm not the only one upset seeing how nazis are appropriating Norse runes and stuff more lately (Also: 🤢 🤮) I've seen others before say that those who practice norse/etc should continue to wear them but to also wear their pride and BLM stuff loudly with them, so as to (A) not just let the nazi's have them, but also more importantly (B) so that people seeing them wear it wouldn't be uncomfortable or scared because it'd signal they didn't side with the SHitler babies.
And all this has made me want to design pride runes or something. Make designs of them that are so blatantly gay that nazis won't wanna touch them. Fucking rainbow runes- Just cover them in all the pride flags. Anything to tell nazis "fuck you, you can't take them."
And so I've started with these designs below. Loki written in runes over a few different flags that remind me of him and that I felt others would resonate with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've got the full-res designs hosted on my Ko-fi as free downloads for anyone who wishes to use them. Print them on a shirt, make yourself stickers, use on gifts for others- whatever. I'll also have them available on Threadless for those who don't want to or can't print them on stuff themselves but still want something with the design on it. Each sale will also make an automatic donation to various LGBT+ charities like The Trevor Project and the It Gets Better Project.
I'll be making more rune designs and also be taking requests for a bit if there are any pride rune/norse designs anyone might want to see made.
(Also while I was brainstorming ideas I drew some rune stone sets, [my fav is the glowy one] I'll put them under the cut so this isn't so long)
But yeah I'll probably be adding these to my Ko-Fi as free downloads too eventually. If anyone is super interested, or wants to make a request, just shoot me an ask and it might get me to upload them sooner lol

Things that have helped me feel closer to my deities:
Praying before their altars (bonus points if you write your own)
Read books other than their myths (books you think they’d enjoy themselves)
Meditating with them
Learn about magickal subjects related to them
Dedicate a journal for notes and document experiences you have with that deity (including moments where they’ve assisted you and any divination conversations you’ve had with them)
Listen to their messages and follow through with them
Light incense that reminds you of them
Find artwork that feels like that deity and hang, print or save them
Divination Methods (Runes, Tarot, Pendulums, Bone Throwing, etc.)
Watch content on different subjects they’re related to (documentaries on death, relationships, crime, etc.)
Dedicate, care, and/or name pets, plants, plushies, etc to them
Learn not just their pantheon and myths but the culture that influenced them
Wear jewelry dedicated to them (bonus if you have that deity enchant them with protection)
Share meals with them
Thinking of them in passing (like “hey that thing reminds me of *insert deity*”)
Talk casually at their altars and give them an itinerary of your day
Define your relationship with that deity and refer to them accordingly (if its a more formal/in reverence, use a formal title. if it’s warm/personal, use an affectionate name.)

A Prayer for the Eclipse
Blessed children of Mundilfari,
Fair of face and full of grace,
Carriers of sacred lanterns,
Bless us and walk with us today.
Though clouds are overhead I see You
Shining brightly upon Midgard.
Break through the overcast skies of my life
So that I may follow your paths.
Mark our time with your power--
Máni with the shape of your face,
Sól with the strength of your warmth--
That we may live and bloom under your lights.
Illuminate our paths and brighten our journeys
As we move through the cycles of our lives.
May you guide us as we run from our oppressors
And from those who wish us harm.
Let us ride with you upon your chariots,
Oh, drivers of the cosmic wains.
Bring us to solace and serenity,
Warmth and prosperity.
Máni and Sól, blessed twins of the skies,
I give thanks to you for the light you bring to us.
Hail, Charioteers of the Celestial Wagons.
Hail, Guardians of the Moon and Sun.
Hail and be well on this day when you meet,
And the skies darken with the force of your love of one another.

what's your username's origin story?
It's based on two songs by the band Against Me!, fronted by trans woman Laura Jane Grace, specifically "The Ocean" and "True Trans Soul Rebel." Her music was very influential while I was exploring my transness for the first real time.
Some lines that really stuck out to me, and ultimately inspired my username of both this side blog and my main, ocean-in-my-rebel-soul, are:
"THE OCEAN":
"If I could have chosen where God would hide his heaven // I'd wish for it to be the salt and swell of the ocean"
"There is an ocean in my soul where the waters do not curve"
"TRUE TRANS SOUL REBEL":
"Does God bless your transsexual heart? // True trans soul rebel // True trans soul rebel"
Thanks for asking!

Hey there. Normalize unconventional divination or worship. Just because it's not in a book or an article does not invalidate what helps you.
Is your relationship with your deity different from other practitioners? Who cares. It's your personal journey. This isn't an organized religion, you have the ability to pace yourself, think outside the box and learn what works for you as an individual.

Hot take but you can’t learn about paganism without also learning about white supremacy and how it uses pagan religions to push hate group agendas all over the world today. If you don’t learn about the connections between the two and how it operates, your ignorance enables white supremacists to keep on doing it and using it to recruit others. People in our community who do nothing and stay silent are literally a part of the problem, there is no opting out whatsoever. Divorcing the two makes the issue repeat itself over and over and over again.
It’s not hard to include this in your research and stay aware. It’s the bare minimum.

A reminder to pagans.
Dear friends and practitioners, the gods will not punish you for simple mistakes. Trust me. It is not easy to anger the gods.
If you are not actively after them to insult and try hurting them, they do not care.
No, they will not punish you for not being productive either, in fact I think they actually understand. Life is hard, for me it surely is often. The gods will not be mad at you for forgetting to give offerings, pray, take care of an altar, ect. And I believe that each time life is hard, it’s best to try and do a bit of praying, nothing too grand, just muttering/whispering a little made up prayer or hymn to the gods. They will most likely listen.
So, again, just breathe. The gods are not mad at you, neither will they punish you.

I’ve talked at length about how much I love how different and diverse religions are and how beautiful I think it is how people how found their own paths in life.
But as someone who lives in the west, it’ll always make me a little sad to see how guilty the people who practice Christianity in my life feel sometimes :(
It hurts my heart hearing people so young tell me they’re afraid of not being good enough to be worth heaven. I’m forever appreciative I was raised in an environment that didn’t push or pull me to any faith and let me find my own path. In bad environments, I know organized religions have the power to hurt and abuse.
I know my deity’s have never made me feel unworthy of happiness. The only requirement I’ve ever felt from them is to fulfill the potential I was given. I know guilt and fear will always be a big part of organized religions, but I really wish every religious community could be based on the joy and warmth their gods give them, and not the fear they inflict or how to be superior to others.
I literally just want to grab every religious person and remind them they’re worth their deities love and time- always!!!
How do other hellenists feel about organized religion?? Do you guys ever feel guilt within your practices?

I feel like when people get into deity work, deity worship or anything deity related we all kinda think that we NEED to communicate with them, we NEED to do tarot cards with them, we NEED to reach out and actively work with them. But I feel like that's not it. Yes, you can communicate with them if you and them want to. Yes, you can do tarot cards with them. Yes, you can actively work with them, but you don't HAVE to. I think you can also just light their candle, give them an offering and just spend 20 minutes or however long you want listening to music with them and just chatting to them about whatever is on your mind and they won't mind it. Because you are putting in the effort and your time to be with them even if it's not doing any of the things you see a lot of pagans and witches do on tiktok.
