We need to have a nomination for “Stupidest thing Tumblr.com has ever believed” and just move into an official Top 10 List.
For my nominations, I’m putting up:
If you eat a chocolate bar a very specific way, you will break physics and get infinite chocolate.
or
It is impossible that you spelled “Berenstain Bears” wrong and is, instead, more likely that the universe fractured into separate, overlapping realities in the last 20 years.
I can’t decide which is more beautiful. It’s why we need a vote.

in related drama, it's not erasure or minimizing or disrespectful* to hold an event on National [marginalized people] Day. every day has multiple holidays and events attached to it. we have Chase's Calendar of Events at my library and it's a gigantic book listing all the holidays, festivals, and events taking place on every day of the year. if there were only one thing allowed to happen on each day, the thing would be MUCH shorter. and also we'd run out of days.
*(not inherently disrespectful. if you're holding an anti-X party on national X day, that's disrespectful, but most people don't do that because then they'd be assholes.)
this post brought to you by the memory of a time (last year) in my fandom when someone tried to hold a fanart fest during Lesbian Visibility Week and they were accused of erasure because the fanart was of men.
honestly like i get the poly(nesian) vs poly(amorous) thing, and n(on)b(lack) vs n(on)b(inary), and i’ll change to polyam or ply or enby if asked to avoid confusion, but i also need yall to know that like…its okay for one abbreviation to have multiple meanings. theres only 26 letters and we can reuse some of them, no one is “stealing” anything.
Animal Crossing did not attack Air Conditioners.

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

adults are always talking about how “kids will do anything to get out of school” and okay, first of all that’s not true, but I think we really need to ask why that idea holds so much sway.
children’s brains are hard-wired to take in new information and acquire new skills. consider, for a moment, just how thoroughly our society had to fuck up the concept of education for it to be a normal thing to assume kids are universally desperate to avoid learning.
