Definately Lightyear, because of how it felt as of the people upstairs requested for more Toy Story content without continuing Toy Story.
The film also seemed like an experiment for a dramatic Pixar film. That's a fine concept, but it doesn't work for Lightyear because of how it's a kids film from the 90s, where there would be more silly aliens and colour put into the work. (Which is why people headcanon that it's a remake of the original film) And somehow, Elio feels more like Lightyear that Lightyear.
Also just to add, cus I didn't realise it sooner, that film pulled a 'Bury Your Gays' trope.
I’ve seen a lot of people say Pixar has gone downhill so I’m curious

Yeah, I saw it aswell. But I just believe it's a coincidence
I just watched the new Pixar trailer of Elio and it got me thinking...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You guys remember Elliott from Earth? Y'know, the Cartoon Network show. It must be coincidence bcz this cartoon is about a kid visiting a new planet too
First off, Elio's name is really similar to Elliott's one, only an "l" two "t"'s are missing
Second thing, both their moms are working really hard, probably even having the same jobs abt astronomy
And last but not least, the towns from the two planets look somehow... Identical?
Idk, it's been a while since i've watched Elliott from Earth but let's just say I have tiny memories of this show and I see identical stuff between this show and the upcoming movie
But the only difference is that Elio is not with his mom out of earth and doesn't have a friend like that dinosaur- (If that blue thing won't be with him often in the movie)

I mean...
An 11 year old kid with a single mother gets abducted to a society filled with aliens. Also the similar names: Elliot & Elio
Though I'm pretty sure it's just a coincidence since pixar films take more than 5 years to be made.
But genuine question: Has anyone ever hears of Elliot from Earth?

Some small theories/prediction about Elio
Tumblr media
Elio may be autistic (or neurodivergant):
The synopsis of the movie says '...Elio is an artistic, creative, and an avid indoorsman who finds it hard to fit in.' Avid indoorsman means someone who prefers being indoors, and may be associated with autistic kids. So it's bold how Elio is dragged out of his comfort zone by getting abducted.
Elio will become the mask:
Basically meaning that he will take the actual role as a leader at some point in the story.
Tumblr media
Olga will attempt to look for Elio via computers:
I mean, duh. Her only child got kidnapped, and the last time she saw him is through the computer screen. So, they'll most likely be a B-Plot of her tracking down Elio. Though, I doubt Olga will go to space in the story.
Tumblr media
The father is deceased:
I mean, it's an easy prediction. But one detail that can support this is the family photo, where they're in front of a plane. This could imply that the father must've been in a plane crash.
Elio and Olga are POCs:
I'm not familiar with the director's background, but Olga in the photo does appear to be brownskin, + the photo frame seems to be omitting from a specific culture.
Elio wears an eyepatch because he has poor vision in his left eye.
Simple.
These are just fun speculations though.

Ya'll, the Nimona teaser is here and I'm already obsessed and excited. Still weird that Netflix would drop the TEASER when the movie is coming out in (at the time of this post) 1 month and 12 days, but I learned to not expect much from them.
Though I'm still wondering how this film is gonna adapt the violence in the book. Yes, I read the book, and yes there is blood and violence in it. Nimona KILLS people, and the movie definitely isn't gonna shy away from her bloodthirsty tendencies. I mean look at her.
Tumblr media
She's like if teenage Vi got Jinx' personality.
But this is still aimed for kids, so it's most likely going to downplay the murders. I'm very curious on how they're gonna Nimona.

I really needed this post, because I find these kinds of edits everywhere on tiktok, and the comments are no better :( Like, I get why Turning Red ain't popular cus it's a film clearly made for a demographic, but why do people need to edit the movie in a bad light just to put DreamWorks up?
Not just that, but some edits would include LGBT scenes from disney properties and use "🤓🏳️‍🌈" Like, what are you trying to say here?
Unpopular take: Turning Red is amazing and so are it’s themes. (Spoiler free).
I want to start out by saying that I do believe that GDT’s Pinocchio deserves the prizes and all the prise it gets. And so does Puss in Boots: the last wish.
However, for all the prise that’s been thrown their way there’s something problematic that needs to be adressed and it’s not about the movies. It’s about some of thier fans.
I am not here to defend Disney, I hate what the House of Mouse has become and even before they certainly had a lot of questionable things about them. Normaly I would be spitefully happy about all the flak they are getting if it wasn’t for the fact that all the hate has been directed towards a movie that does not deserve it.
Turning Red.
Here’s an example of what i mean.
undefined
youtube
Now before you haters start, this is not to say that Puss in Boots or Pinocchio are bad movies, in fact I love them too, i just happen to love Turning Red too.
Turning Red is an amazing movie that, in it’s own way, breaks as many conventions as Del Toro’s take on Pinocchio does. But while that movie get it’s well-earned applause, Red gets undeserved hate for a number of reasons that are way beyond the movie’s control.
One is that the movie is linked to Disney, and because it happened to be their project that drew more attention last year, it ended up being the one in which Disney’s dissaponted fans took out their frustration on.
Another is the whole double-standard of people who are okay with a “kid’s” movie having themes of death, war, panic attacks and unintentionally harmfull parents, but are still too conservative to have themes of being an pubert and panicking about not knowing what’s going on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing that pepole seem to miss is that this movie was intentionally made to be cringe at times and uncomfortable for some people because being uncomfortable is a HUGE part of being a teen. But instead of offering thier sympathy to a girl who is lost on both her body and on who she is, like everyone is at that age, they want to call her gross or inmproper and act as if they are over it.
Being a teen is about doing things we may be embarrased about later on cause we don’t know any better and adults who are supposedly wiser are often uwilling to help or even acknowlege that. So we are often forced to play by ear and figure things out by ourselves.
That is what this movie is about, it’s not a heartwarming, frightening tale of a wooden boy or an epic satire of a fearless hero who laughs at Death. It’s a juvenile and weird story about suddenly understanding that growing up is messy.
It’s not fair to compare Turning Red to those because it’s not doing what those movies want to do but the thing it wants to do.
You can tell right away from their artstyles. Pinocchio and Puss in Boots have more stylized designs that are eye catching and fun to watch. And Turning Red has a more simple but still energetic and overtly cartoony style. That allows for the expresive over the top faces and gestures in the movie (which also ties into the themes of puberty feeling all over the place).
Tumblr media
Like Guillermo del Toro said when he got the Oscar, animation isn’t a genere it’s a medium. And Turning red doesn’t deserve to be held back by the double-standards people wish to have for said medium; or the hate for the company that helped create those double-standars; or the inmature pepole who still wish they had done things diferently when they were younger.
I always knew this movie wasn’t gonna win the Oscar and that’s fine by me, Domee Shi (the movie’s creator) didn’t do this movie to win a prize, she made it cause she had a story to tell about making room for all the messy and unruly things in our life. If not to let it out, then to admit it’s there and it’s okay to have it.
If you still don’t like this movie or Disney and think Pinocchio and Puss in Boots are better, that’s fair. But stop bringing Turning Red and the people who enjoy it down just because it’s not what you expected or “Oscar worthy”
If you agree with me, reblog or repost this and spread the word. This movie needs someone in it’s corner.

World building elements I noticed in elemental
(Pun intended)
Tumblr media
This one might be a stretch, but around the board are the water, earth, fire and air elements.
Tumblr media
Water people get their own seats to sustain their habitat.
Tumblr media
Same with earth people.
Tumblr media
Air people can sit upside down. Also, the headlines on the side are pun based.
Tumblr media
The train has drains incase water people shed some water.
Tumblr media
An extremely brief shot of the city.

Obviously this is an exaggeration, but I do see this alot in cartoons and games. (Also anime, but those are projects from Japan, so it doesn't count.) These are some examples I found:

Li Mei|Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Mei Dragon|Lego Monkie Kid
Mai Su|Next Gen (Pronounced Mei)

Well. Aren't I an idiot on that last point. How did I not realise they were the same person? They literally have tha same build.
Characters of Strange World
So as I am waiting aggressively for the actual trailer for Strange World, I've been watching the trailer on repeat and may have noticed some stuff. Also, the rest of the cast has been announced. So this is just a list on who the characters are and stuff.
Tumblr media
First we got the protagonist Searcher Clade (weird name but whatever), voiced by Jake Gyllenhaal. Someone who is part of the Clades, family of explorers, but prefers being a farmer, said from the quote:
"I'm not an explorer, I'm a farmer."
The line may seem like something a wimp would say, but the trailer shows him to be a curious guy who lacks any survival skills and all that. And I sorta predict him to be the cautious voice of reason. Not bad for a protagonist.
Tumblr media
Then we Searcher's dog, rumored to be called Legend. Not much to say bout him, cus he's presented as a typical sidekick pet, besides from the fact that doggo's missing a leg.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is most likely from a rare disease called Osterosarcoma, which causes dogs to lose a limb. That's really cool, considering I don't find alot of disabled dogs in media. I'll probably come to like him.
Tumblr media
Then we have the supposed deturgonist, Ethan Clade, voiced by Jaboukie Young-White. A 14-16-year-old teen who is Searcher's son, and longs to explore. Guy reminds me of Jim Hawkins alot. Teenage boy with a golden earring exploring new terrain? Plus I'm pretty sure he's riding some kind of hoverboard. Also, and surprising fact, he's apparently gay with a love interest in the film + his VA is also openly gay as well. But overall, I'm excited to see his character.
Tumblr media
This lady over here is Meridan Clade, voiced by Gabrielle Union. She is Searcher's wife and Ethan's mom who has a skill in piloting. Not much to say about her other than she pretty.
Tumblr media
This over here is Jaeger Clade, voiced by Dennis Quaid, and is Searcher's explorer father. Dude's gonna get a hella load of simps, mark my words.
Tumblr media
Now this fine woman is Callisto Mal, voiced by Lucy Liu, and is the leader of the expedition, while most likely having no blood ties to the Clades. She looks like an enjoyable character, but Lucy Liu was the last person I expected to voice her. Probs cus I'm use to Master Viper's sweet voice.
Tumblr media
Yup, this thing will be crucial, and his name is bloody Splat. I guess he's gonna be the creature to navigate the Clades through the Strange World (ha). I bet my money Alan Tudyk got his creature sounds covered.
Tumblr media
Wait, who the fuck are you? He was in the trailer during the running on pink fish thing. Maybe he's a character called Captain Calypso Kahn. Cus that name is said to belong to a character in the film, but it isn't confirmed. Other than that, potential antagonist?
And those are all the characters shown to be I Strange World so far. Let me know what ya'll think.

I know Wendell and Wild isn't out yet, but I have a huge feeling this will happen. Naturally tho, because of what the first panel says, but I hope the reviews won't just be 'It's not as great as Coraline" or something similar.
