spoiler-free lightyear thoughts! 🚀
i just saw lightyear and i thought it was really good! not a new pixar favorite for me personally, but it had lots of heart, it was really funny, and i loved the new side characters (especially sox)!
the animation was spectacular as per pixar tradition. the soundtrack was brilliant, although the previous few films had more memorable soundtracks imo.
i can definitely tell this movie's trying to set up a sub-franchise within toy story, and i'd love for them to expand upon it.
by default, i'm more of a fantasy/coming-of-age type of person over sci-fi (which is why inside out, coco, onward, luca, and turning red are my favorite recent pixar films) but i still saw the film because i love pixar, i love toy story (the first three), and i love buzz lightyear!
chris evans did a great job voicing this buzz, and i can definitely tell he was very excited to do this movie. the other actors were great too. i loved keke palmer as izzy (anyone remember true jackson VP? those were the days)
i think this is gonna be one of those movies where it grows on me with every watch, but i still enjoyed it, and i would like to see more adventures in this world.
i'll give it an 8/10! i recommend this movie to sci-fi fans and toy story fans alike!

Pixar's Lightyear was gonna have Zurg be Buzz's Father like mentioned in Toy Story 2 .
Buzz's Father was gonna be named Larry Lightyear, in honor of "Lunar Larry" one of Buzz's unused names.
However this was scrapped since they wanted a twist more fitting or similar of what Sci-Fi movies would...

And also the fact that MEMES were what skyrocketed the Minions box office.
Basically, this is a vent cus I've seen those vids where it's like 'Lightyear LOSES over Minions film. Pixar is FURIOUS.' While ignoring the disadvantages the film has with making money. This is to not salt on those who prefer Minions, you do you, this is to salt on them vids and post that keep pointing out Pixar failing at the box office while Illumination is winning.
Bonus salt: I saw one video saying how Lightyear's director insulted the Minions film since its doing better. And I'm here shaking my head at the obvious clickbait, cus no sane director would insult another person's work because it's financially doing better.

SO, its no mystery or secret that i have chosen the pixar movie onward to be a main hyperfixation for the past (what, its been roughly what.. six, five months??) this movie is a personal favorite. The main comfort media, if you will.
But it has been brought to my attention that lightyear has been released, so i just watched it and yeas im gatekeeping it too,,, comfort movie #2 welcome to andy’s hyperfixation square!
I like buzz! But the main favorite has gotta be the pen guy! And buzz. AND SOX!! Dude spent 62 years on that laptop, and first thing buzz did was break the thing-
