I heard reference to something about how all anime are required to have good looking cabbage because of That One Time. So simply looking up "anime cabbage" I found the source.
Some harem anime way back in the day had an episode where the characters cooked, and they animated cabbage so terribly like this it left a bad mark on the anime community forever. Apparently this is part of the reason why all food usually looks good in anime, even moreso than the regular show sometimes. With cabbage being especially well drawn.
A complaint, apparently in a paper.
The first show when released internationally was reanimated in this part.
And high quality or low quality cabbage is sometimes referenced.
I learned of this because the most recent Hologra episode has noel eating cabbage, tearing apart a fine quality cabbage into two low poly halves.

Congratulations to Marcille DungeonMeshi for achieving Pathetic Little Man status on tumblr, a hard glass ceiling for many female characters to break. I look forward to calling you my sopping wet beast and poor little meow meow for fandom days to come. Keep trucking babygirl, you'll bag Falin one day

It’s so fucked up how tiktok culture has made clout-poisoned people turn the public into content, every day I see people minding their business have their entire faces put online for thousands of likes, a couple kissing on the train, a lady dancing across a cross walk, a guy nodding his head to the music at a club, a lady buying a banana at the store, ring camera footage of the neighbors kids being stupid. Just let people live jfc

For all its profound tragedy, there was something magnificent in Mariko's death because it was an act she chose for herself.
Not only did it serve a purpose — by dying, she lays bare the tyrannical nature of Ishido's regency and furthers Toranaga's broader plan — but it was a fulfillment of the duty she believed she owed her father and her disgraced family name.
For years, she has asked for permission to die — from her husband, from Toranaga — and been denied. Even her foreign lover protests against the sacrificial choice she wants to make, begging her to remain alive if only for him.
In the end, she does not ask permission. She reclaims herself — Akechi Mariko — and chooses her fate, one that belongs to her alone.

unexpected 成語 (idiom) lesson on
Bluey ~ The Sign (S03?E49?) 🙀😻
The story that Calypso was reading to Bluey's class? That is the story behind the Chinese idiom,
塞翁失馬 [焉/安知非福]
usually, only the first part (塞翁失馬) is uttered in practical use
🇭🇰🇲🇴 coi³ jung¹ sat¹ maa⁵ [jin¹/on¹ zi¹ fei¹ fuk¹]
🀄 ㄙㄞˋ ㄨㄥ ㄕ ㄇㄚˇ [ㄧㄢ/ㄢ ㄓ ㄈㄟ ㄈㄨˊ]
🀄 sài wēng shī mǎ [yān/ān zhī fēi fú]
Literal meaning: The old man of the frontier lost his horse (how could he know if this is not fortuitous?)
Meaning: Similar to the sayings, “a blessing in disguise”, “every cloud has a silver lining”.
And there's actually a Wiki entry for this! Quote from Wiki:
“One of the most famous parables from the Huainanzi (淮南子; 'Master of Huainan'), chapter 18 (人間訓; Rénjiānxùn; 'In the World of Man') dating to the 2nd century B.C. The story exemplifies the view of Taoism regarding "fortune" ("good luck") and "misfortune" ("bad luck").
The story is well-known throughout the East Asian cultural sphere and is often invoked to express the idea of "silver lining" or "blessing in disguise" in Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese.”
The Chinese language nerd in me was getting increasingly stoked as Calypso read out more and more of the story…I was like, wait a minute…this sounds bloody familiar…and then I had my Aha! 🙀 moment…😸

I watched the new Bluey episode The Sign just now (watched at double speed of course). You guys ever heard the term "Shaggy dog Story?"
Yeah. That was The Sign. Should have figured it was a dead giveaway with actual shaggy dog characters as the "antagonists" lmao. Typical clever writing!
