The MCU has always had a quip/comedy problem
This isnā€™t only a Phase 4/5 problem
Endgame turned Thorā€™s trauma from the events in all the other movies a joke about his weight because of his binge eating. They undercut the intensity of Scott coming back from the quantum realm and how thatā€™s the solution to the problems by making him randomly say, ā€œis that a sandwich?ā€ In the middle of it
Infinity War constantly undercut the stakes with terrible humor. Seriously the leads stopping to quip at each other in battle with the big bad of 10 years is a joke, and the worst offender of this Tony, Peter, and the Guardians. Did we really need Drax spoiling the emotional moment that Quill and Gamora had about her making him promise to kill her if Thanos shows up with his stupid slow motion joke. Peter Parker is a joke in this movie, being clueless about whatā€™s happening and just making jokes and being awkward
The MCU caring more about quips and humor than serious stakes and character moments because they canā€™t let it get ā€œtoo darkā€ has always been a problem, people just didnā€™t notice before because it was characters they love doing it. Now itā€™s characters that donā€™t have any nostalgia attached to them, and people see how grating and annoying it is
Is this a problem with every MCU project? No. The Captain America trilogy has never had this problem, the OG avengers, and in phase 4 WandaVision, Loki, and Doctor Strange (even though that movie had other problems) didnā€™t have this problem. But it is still a problem that the MCU as a whole has

The thing that annoys me the most about the MCU being on a downward spiral is that the path forward was so obvious. Everyone LOVED WandaVision and Loki, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, right from the moment it was announced, was always the most anticipated Phase 4 movie (and than it made almost a billion at the box office so if it was actually good, it definitely would have made that much)
Making the MCU more magic based was the OBVIOUS solution. Make Strange, Loki, and Wanda the primary characters of the multiverse saga. Make it the big team up be Secret Defenders with them, Clea, and Brother Voodoo (after introducing both of them), not fucking Thunderbolts. Give Wanda and Loki solo MOVIES after how incredible their shows were. Make the MCU more magic based, and put ground level MCU and space MCU on the backseat
This was the obvious thing to do. But they didnā€™t do it because they would rather have Love and Thunder, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, and The Marvels over what their audience actually wants

The best two characters in the MCU and Marvel was stupid enough to bench them both
At least Loki got an INCREDIBLE ending though. Wanda was done SO dirty

I am simultaneously deliriously in love with the ending of Loki season 2 and absolutely loathe it
On one handā€¦Shakespearean tragedy at its finest, essentially circling back to Lokiā€™s original Thor 2011 character arc by reversing it, and Loki has literally ascended to godhood. In the end, Lokiā€™s ultimate selfless sacrifice was to sit upon the highest throne in the multiverse, and that to me is tragically ironically beautiful
On the other handā€¦Loki being alone makes me want to burn Marvel studios to the ground and do other unspeakable things
Best and worst ending of all time f u Eric Martin

I have so many feelings about this ending
He said he didnā€™t want to be alone, but he is alone now, but it was the choice that he made to save his friends, and everyone else. He has killed countless people, but now he is literally the Tree of Life. Itā€™s a devastating ending, but so beautiful and poignant too

I am Loki of Asgard, and I am burdened with glorious purpose. LOKI ā€” 02x06 ā€œGlorious Purposeā€
