“I’m a black man carrying the stars and stripes. What don’t I understand? Every time I pick this thing up, I know there are millions of people who are gonna hate me for it. Even now, here… I feel it. The stares, the judgement. And there’s nothin’ I can do to change it. Yet, I’m still here. No super serum, no blond hair or blue eyes. The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.”

I’d like to apologise for this post as I wasn’t trying to erase Sam from the situation and I recognise in that scene where Bucky mentions him throwing the shield like it was nothing as his privilege and I completely understand that! I was just looking at Bucky’s perspective personally and how he was feeling. That doesn’t mean I don’t agree with Sam or his feelings because I do, he has every right to do what he wanted with the shield and that was his own personal choice and I stand by him on that.

Thinking about how in this scene you can see how much it has affected Bucky that Sam gave away the shield. You can see how much he relied on Steve’s beliefs and that’s what has kept him going but the thought of the shield being with someone not worthy pains him because now he doesn’t know if Steve’s words about him were right, so he’s second guessing himself and that breaks my heart.
