Reading Maria Montessori's actual books has shown me that she was a genuinely great teacher who cared about children and was willing to try new things again and again to find a system that could work for any child regardless of mental or physical ability.
Looking at "Montessori" parents on Instagram has shown me that people will spend tons of money on something they consider more "elite" without ever knowing WHY Montessori designed her toys and lessons in the way she did, and will make them less accessible to the very children she designed them for. The poor and disabled.
I've been trying to read this one since last year but never properly started or gave in to it. I've tried another book from this author, "One of us is lying" and it was a DNF for me. At the time it didn't pulled me in, I'm trying to see if this one is different because it's about family secrets and I love this kind of story. I finished "Carrie" and loved it, 4 🌟 in my Goodreads. Now I'm waiting for another one from the library but thought I would start this one in the meantime.
Margaret White is a bitch! Great way to find out about periods!! 🙄😳
"E Eva foi fraca e soltou o corvo no mundo - prosseguiu a mãe -, e o corvo chamou - se Pecado, e o primeiro Pecado foi o coito. E o Senhor puniu Eva com uma Maldição, e a Maldição foi a Maldição do sangue. Adão e Eva foram expulsos do Jardim e lançados ao Mundo e Eva descobrira que o seu ventre se enchera e estava grávida." p. 49
Reading this to my pregnant belly! 👌 This kid is already getting to know his mom's tastes on books.
I can't believe how good this book is so far. Glad I get to read this and other SK works and be amazed. I know it has a lot of deaths at the end but I don't think I'll be able to think bad things of her, I would just bring her home and show her a better childhood 😢
