Finally, it was your first day of your last year of highschool. You walked into the room and sat at a random desk while you waited for the teacher to show up. Looking around the room, you noticed a few people you’ve had classes with before, so you figured it would be easy enough to talk to them throughout the year.
After a while the bell rang and the teacher arrived. She greeted the class and explained some ground rules, as well as assigning everyone seats.
“Yn… looks like you’re sitting alone for now, your seatmate isn’t here. Sit at that table in the back corner, near the window” She smiled and pointed at the table for two. You walked over and placed your bag on the empty chair since your seatmate wasn’t here, which you honestly didn’t mind.
While your teacher continued explaining the course, there was a knock on the door. When she opened it your face immediately flushed red and your heart started beating a million miles an hour. You could feel your body heat up as you started to panic, doing your best to conceal yourself at the back of the class.
“You must be Nishimura Riki, I had your older sister!” Your teacher smiled once again. “Your seat is right in the back, near yn”
“Thank you” He said politely. His voice hadn’t changed one bit, still attractively arrogant yet somehow still playful.
You moved your bag off the seat so he could sit, and looked out the window. It didn’t matter how long it had been, a day, a month. Almost five months now. You couldn’t face him, not yet.
“Ok, your first assignment is to get to know your seatmate. Talk to each other for a while, and if I notice you aren’t participating it’s a write up” The teacher announced. Your heart sank to the floor and you shifted uncomfortably in your seat.
“Yn…” Riki started. You could feel him looking at you.
“Yea?” You barely whispered loud enough for him to hear, and it didn’t help that you were still facing away from him.
“Look at me. We have to at least pretend to do the assignment”
You turned slightly, just enough to make it look like you guys were talking. You both stayed silent for a while, until RIki sighed and broke it.
“How are you?”
“I’m good. You?”
“Been better, but I’m good”
You cringed internally at how dry and awkward you both were being, but also because this was the first time you guys talked since he broke up with you back in April.
It was a cloudy day, one of your favorites. You had just finished classes and your long-term boyfriend texted you to meet him outside of the school, right near the big tree you guys always met near. The spot where he confessed to you.
You walked happily to the spot, a content smile plastered on your face as you couldn’t wait to finally see your comfort person after a tiring day.
“Riki!” You called out for him. When he looked up at you, you could tell something was off. You ignored it though, assuming he just had a hard day.
“yn…I need to talk to you”
Your smile faltered but you nodded, signaling for him to continue.
“We’re breaking up”
“What?” You felt a pain in your chest, like he just drove a knife through your heart. The more he spoke, the further it went in.
“We’re breaking up. I can’t be with you anymore” He sounded cold, like he didn’t even care and just wanted to get this over with.
“Riki…why?” You asked. You swallowed the lump in your throat and wished that you would be shaken awake from this nightmare, with your boyfriend by your side to hug you and tell you it was all a bad dream.
“I just said it!” He raised his voice. You took a step back and your first tear fell down your flushed cheeks. He had never raised his voice at you, never did anything to hurt you. So this? This was terrifying.
“I…I’m sorry” You stuttered out.
“Whatever…Bye” He shoved his hands into his pockets and walked off, not even sparing you another glance.
After that day, you never talked to him. You were too scared to text him, and did anything and everything to avoid even seeing him or his friends at school.
“That's good” You swallowed thickly, the painful memory making it hard to concentrate on what he was saying. He went quiet for another few minutes, then placed his hand on top of yours which was resting on the table.
“Look at me…” He said softly. You hesitated, but finally looked up at him.
To your surprise, his cheeks were just as red as yours, if not worse. His eyes looked like they were trying to tell you something, they looked sad and apologetic, like he really regretted what happened. It took everything in you to not break down right there, to not cry over something you’ve wasted thousands of tears on already.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry” He whispered. His thumb caressed the back of your hand with the same gentleness he would use back when you would reach for his hands when you would get nervous.You could tell how hard he swallowed by how his adams apple bobbed up and down.
You continued looking at him, your eyes tearing up and the lump in your throat getting bigger by the second.
“I’m sorry” He repeated. His voice came out as a broken whisper, the complete opposite of the confident and teasing way he would speak to you when he chased your adoration.
“Why did you do it?” You asked tearfully.
“I’m so sorry baby, I really am” He repeated again. The old pet name fell from his lips so naturally, he barely realized he did it until he heard the broken sob escape your lips. You didn’t even cry this much when he first broke up with you, and it was breaking him the more he realized how bad he had hurt you.
“I was just having a really hard time, I was really stressed. Between school, soccer, my parents, and everything going on, I didn’t want all that shit to affect you. I didn’t…I didn’t wanna hurt you, ok? That’s the last thing I wanted, and I thought it would hurt you less if we just broke up. I’m sorry” He explained.
He reached his hand out to wipe your tears as he spoke, the few tears that fell from his own eyes going completely unnoticed byy him.
“Why wouldn’t you tell me? I loved you so much, I would’ve helped you” You sobbed.
“I know you would’ve. I should’ve just told you, but I didn’t want you to worry about me baby, you had your own things and I didn’t wanna make it worse-”
“You wouldn’t have made it worse Riki, you were the one thing that made all that stuff better! I would’ve done anything to help you, I don’t care, as long as you’re ok”
He nodded and quickly wiped his eyes as he finally realized the salty tears dripping onto his cheeks.
“I know. I was just in a really bad place, and leaving you made that so much worse baby, I really need you” He stroked her damp cheek with his free hand.
“Me too. It was so hard without you” She finally looked him in the eyes, her own bloodshot ones still stinging with tears.
“I still love you baby…”
“I love you too”

“Wait, try this one!” Misora laughed, handing you another one of Konons eyeshadows. You put it on over the other make up you were already wearing.
“Wow, it looks good! You should keep it!” Konon complimented you and took a few pictures of the three of you on her bedroom floor, with all of her makeup spread around you.
“Really?!” You smiled. You loved the color, and the fact that she was letting you keep it? Treating other people well really ran in the family.
“Of course! I never wore it anyways”
“That's cuz it didn’t look good on you” Misora teased, which earned her a light smack on the head from Konon.
The three of you were so busy talking and laughing that you didn’t even hear your phone ringing beside you.
“Konon, have you seen yn? She said she would be here like a half hour ago- oh” He stopped mid sentence when he saw you sitting on his sisters bedroom floor, laughing like his sisters were the funniest people on earth.
“Oh, you’re back!” You smiled at him. He didn’t return it, and just said “Yea” and walked off to his bedroom.
“Oooh, someones jealous,” Misora laughed.
“Go get your man, I don’t wanna deal with him being cranky later because he ‘barely got to see you’” Konon waved you off and you sighed. “You don’t wanna deal with him? He’s probably not gonna let me have any of the snacks he got!”
You walked out of her room and knocked on Rikis door.
“Ki? Lemme in”
“No, go with Konon and Misora”
You immediately walked in and sat near him on his bed, laying your head on his lap and looking up at him.
“Are you jealous?” You asked, with a bit of mischief laced in your tone.
“No…” He looked away from you. You smiled and sat up to make him look at you.
“Whyyy? I was just waiting for you to come back from the store so they let me hang out with them!”
“You could’ve come with me!” He finally looked back at your eyes and sulked.
“You left before I even got here!” You hit his shoulder.
“Fine. But even lately you’re always hanging out with them, I feel like they’re stealing you!” He wrapped his arms around your waist and buried his face in your neck, his warm breath tickling your skin.
“Nuh uh! They could never steal me” You kissed the top of his head.
“Really? So you'll hang out with me more than them?”
“I think I have to”
“Have to?! I thought you liked being with me”
“I know, it was a joke” You smiled and cupped his cheeks. You kissed his lips gently, just to show him how much you really like being with him.

After what felt like forever, you finally got home from your hair appointment. It didn't even take long, just a simple cut and style. But what made it feel like years was the fact that you couldn't wait to show Heeseung. He knew you were going out, but you never said anything about your hair.
"Hee?" You called out. You heard his footsteps approaching the kitchen and he leaned on the doorframe, a few feet away from you. He looked at you with a smile and came a bit closer, examining your new style.
“When’d you do that?” He put one hand around your waist and used the other to (gently) touch your hair.
“I just got home, when I said I was going shopping I actually had a hair appointment”
“It’s so pretty baby, it suits you so well” Heeseung pecked your lips and leaned back to get a better look at your hair.
You could tell he definitely loved it.

“All done! Do you like it?” Your hairdresser asked. You smiled brightly and got out of the chair, thanking her and walking towards your boyfriend who sat on his phone in the waiting area of the salon.
“Jay,” You called. “I’m all done, how does it look?”
“He got up out of the chair and smiled. “Beautiful as always. Want me to pay?” You playfully rolled your eyes at his offer and grabbed his hand to walk out of the salon.
“I already paid, don’t worry”
“Then at least let me take you to dinner. You look so beautiful, you have to show it off somewhere!” He pulled you into a soft kiss as you exited the salon.
“Fine, lets go!”

“Baby, what should we- Your hair!” Jake walked into your bedroom and the first thing he noticed was your freshly cut and dyed hair. Yes, maybe you should’ve told him, but where's the fun in that?
“Do you like it?” You looked up at him while he sat next to you on your bed. He grabbed a chunk of it to take a closer look. It was beautiful on you, the dark red highlights suited your features perfectly. It was just a bit jarring at first, that's all.
“It's so pretty, just caught me off guard” He laughed nervously. He really did love it though. He sat near you properly and continued playing with your hair, while you giggled at his actions.

“Do you notice anything?” You sat down on the couch near Sunghoon while he was watching some random show. He turned his head towards you and scanned your body a few times, before raising his eyebrow.

“I know, it goes good with your haircut,” He smiled.
Your face lit up and you leaned in closer to him. “So you noticed? Does it look good?”
“It looks beautiful angel” He kissed your cheek and leaned back in his seat, going back to watching whatever he was watching while playing with your hair.

“Sunoo, come here!” You yelled for your boyfriend, who was probably already doing his night time routine because he got tired of waiting for you to be done at your hair appointment.
“I'm doing my skincare, come in the bathroom!” He yelled back. You walked in and saw him with a face mask on and his hair tied into a little ponytail on top of his head. “Finally, you’re back! Lemme see your hair”
He turned away from the mirror to look at your hair. “Wow, it’s so pretty! Your bangs frame your face well” He smiled as he ruffled your hair. You hit his hand away from your head and backed up.
“Don’t touch, I just got it done!”

“Hey babe” Jungwon kissed your lips as you walked through the door. He knew you had just gotten your hair done, so he paid extra care to look at it a bit closer today.
“Your hair looks really nice! She did a good job” He gently twirled a strand around his finger, making sure to not mess up the loose curls your hair was styled into.
“Thank youuu” You smiled “It didn’t take long either, I think I’ll go back next time!”
“You should! That lady really knows what she’s doing, it looks beautiful” He patted your head and led you to the living room, where you guys cuddled and continued talking about your days while Jungwon played with your hair.
Nishimura Riki
“Nishimura Riki, what did you do?!” You shrieked. You knew your boyfriend could be dumb, but not this dumb.
“I’m so so sorry baby, it got in the way and I didn’t notice!” He tried to comfort you and say it didn’t look bad, but he was just making it worse for himself.
You needed some help cutting the tag off of your shirt, and Riki so kindly offered to help. While he was cutting the tag though, he didn't realize your hair had gotten in between the blades of the scissors. Now, your mid-length hair had a nice big chunk taken out of it.
“How do you not notice something like that?! I swear I’m gonna kill you Riki!”
“Baby please, I’ll take you to the salon right now, I’ll even pay!” He grabbed your hand and caressed the back of it with his thumb to try to calm you down.
“Yea, you will! Let’s go” You basically dragged him out of the house and into the car so he could drive you to your hair salon.
Time skip
“All done! See, it’s not bad, you look amazing with short hair!” You hair dresser complimented as you both walked over to the front desk where Riki would be paying. Once his wallet was drained, he took your hand and you guys left the salon.
“See, I told you! You look so pretty no matter what, but I really like this style on you!” He smiled. You tried your best to not show that you agreed, but he could see the very obvious smile on your face when he complimented you.
“Maybe it wasn’t that big of a mistake!”

notes - i was peacefully scrolling through pinterest and this photo made me think of way too many things i need to say rn
"Tired?" You asked playfully. It was clear your boyfriend was exhausted, but even like that he was the cutest thing ever.
"Shut up and come here" He playfully held his arms out and you immediately complied, gently straddling his lap. He rested his hands on your waist and you draped your arms around his shoulders so your hands could play with the hair on the back of his neck.
"So how was your day?"
"Oh god" He sighed "It was so exhausting, I wanna just sleep for the next few weeks"
You giggled and continued playing with his hair. "You don't have anything tomorrow, right? We could just spend the day in bed relaxing if you want"
"Yea, but that's tomorrow. I wanna relax right now" He rubbed his thumbs in small circles on your waist and lifted his head off of the back of the chair to look at you.
“I can tell” You smiled and pecked his lips.
“So are you gonna help me?” He raised his eyebrow.
“Help you relax? What do you want me to do?” You teased. It was obvious what he wanted, just by the way he stared at your lips, but it was too funny to see his face twist at how you were playing dumb.
“Come on baby, I’m tired” He complained. You smiled and leaned in, connecting your lips in a gentle kiss.
“Relax” you pulled away and whispered. You leaned in again and kissed him, this time more fervorous. He gripped your hips a bit tighter and leaned back. You could feel him relaxing underneath you, despite how desperately his lips chased yours. You pulled away and went back to playing with his hair.
“Did that help?”
“Mhm. I think I need to relax more though”
