I have no words to express exactly how much I loved Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. But I’ll try - it’s now my go to example of a sequel improving upon the original dethroning The Godfather Part 2 and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I love everyone of the new characters and am so glad to see Puss and Kitty back together. Every single aspect of the movie was perfect and my god this is the Antonio Banderas comeback I will remember (there is no Uncharted movie) and him and Salma still have the fiery chemistry they had in Desperado. Best part, my cat loved it just as much as I did!
Now that the position of principal is sadly open at Nevermore Academy, (I’ll never forget Larissa Weems and Gwendoline) I nominate Michelle Pfeiffer as her successor for two very important reasons
1. More Michelle and Tim Burton needs to happen and this is the perfect project.
2. The status of the Nevermore principals being better than Albus Dumbledore must prevail.
One of the best parts of Wednesday was the iconic duos of Wednesday and Fester & Enid and Thing. As much as I love Nevermore (so much better than Hogwarts!) if season 2 chooses a different setting like San Francisco or New Orleans and I’d not mind it at all. Just give me Wednesday, Enid and Thing teaming off with Fester and Cousin Itt for a while.
I have been a Spider-Man and Batman fan even before I became a comic book fan. They were my introduction to superheroism and they are to date my benchmarks on heroism. And one of the biggest reason was my favourite Batman movie ever, which is Batman: Mask of The Phantasm. And the recent passing of Kevin Conroy still raw in my heart - I want Matt Reeves to adapt the story in The Batman sequel.
One of the biggest reason is Robert’s Bruce being the perfect age for the return of his teenage/first love and how similar his Bruce is to where Kevin’s Bruce was in Phantasm. Alone and borderline apathetic towards himself. Second the tone and setting are perfect for it and Andrea Beaumont is the Vesper Lynd of Batman love interests. And I trust Matt Reeves completely to do the story utter justice.
If I have to put down on record my favourite MCU characters/movies and I am fairly certain it’ll be my favourite trilogy it’d all involve Guardians of the Galaxy and what’s amazing is they were the characters I knew the least about but damnit James Gunn assembled a team that made me friggin fall hard. I love every single piece of GoTG media more and more with every watch.
I love every character individually, I love the interpersonal relationships of the crew and how they grew in front of me and not as an off-the-screen “just trust us on this”. I love that Peter and Gamora romance took it’s time and developed step-by-step. I love Meredith Quill, her taste in music, the effect she’s had on Peter and through him - on the Guardians. I love grumpy dad Yondu. Loved the Christmas Special.
The man she loved married and had children with her best friend/roommate and when their daughter came under her care, she actually tried to help her and went out of her way to do so. Even dying to help her. In short, Larissa Weems deserves all the love sadboi Snivellus Snape got all these years simply because of Alan Rickman, and in a much shorter time - Gwendoline Christie was so phenomenal and the character deserved a longer time on the show.
So, I’ve rewatched Black Adam like five times by now and honestly - I do not get the hate it’s getting. It’s a superhero movie that’s actually fun and Dwayne Johnson is clearly passionate about the character and has gives a career best performance here. Atom Smasher and Cyclone are adorable and amazing, Aldis Hodge is the best Hawkman has looked EVER, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate is as charismatic as his best James Bond performance. It doesn’t really do anything that damages the possibility of a DC Movie Universe but gives JSA the chance to get a movie in League of the JLA which if you’re an actual fan of capeshit, you’d be excited about. Also Black Adam elevates Shazam by existing because you actually get to see what kind of hell Billy and the Shazam family can raise without making them a cynical, Snyder-ed caricature of who they’re supposed to be - the way a good nemesis should be.
On episode 6 of Wednesday and Enid is the Juliette Fairmont of Werewolves and I am equally protective of them both. I will adopt all monster bunnies and I will protect them fiercely.
So since Andor is over for now, I decided I’ll watch Wednesday because well, it’s The Addams Family and Tim Burton - I’m on Episode 1 so No Spoilers - Jenna Ortega is so good as Wednesday and I have officially adopted Enid as my imaginary little sister. Emma Myers! Also Principal Gwendoline Christie is serving like always.
P.S: Wednesday and Enid - these two are definitely going on to be more than “roommates”, aren’t they?
