“because they saved my life. And i’ll save theirs. and even in this dark, dark cave… they make every day a smiley day”
companion piece to this, drawn two years ago for a sweet moment between fcg and fearne. and now a commemoration to the life and light of fresh cut grass
So I made this pre-91, but never finished it, then opened my video editing software to maybe make an fcg video to cope and laughed my ass off when I realized this was still in the works. Team detonation you were so dear to me.
in line with earlier meta of mine about fae nature vs nurture, im currently fixated on ira in campaign 3 episode 31 saying, "what am i, if not a lifelong master of things that evolve into something greater?" but in campaign 3 episode 89 telling fearne (about their fae nature and tendency to untruth & betrayal) "we cant help but be... ourselves". ira knows he is built to push boundaries in every way he can and yet cannot or does not want to unbox himself from his "fae" traits of manipulation turned to sinister purpose. i think a very pointed analysis of ira's psyche can be made on learning whether he uses fae upbringing & everyone's perception of him as a monster as an intentional excuse, or if he genuinely doesnt see how he could be different.
while every impulse would want to say the former, the thing is. when i look at his attempt to look like a gentleman in his tattered suit, and his bow before xandis rather than scaring them when they freaked out as his visage, and helping the calloways (even as he probably manipulated them) grow a garden in their cave, and the way he both insults but genuinely seems to value & prop up fearne lately.... you do tend to wonder if he leans toward the latter.
"There are a lot of stories in Exandria of mortals who stumbled their way into the feywild and fell in love with an enchanting fairy that they met there. But there's one story of a fairy who stumbled into this world and fell in love." (EXU: Calamity Episode 3)
this is my 2023 secret santa gift for the lovely @merelyspecters! had a blast with the colors and formulating some headcanons for the early days of Laerryn and Loquatius's relationship.
