I am exploring moments... The ones that never get recorded...The ones that stick in your mind...The more you think about them, they fade. They are delicate images of life and I'm going to re create them. This is the first. A moment of utter emotion: On my last day in the township. The teachers began to speak to the children in xhosa (their native language). Soon after I realised they were explaining that it was my final day with the masiphumelele family. They all began to sing the national anthem to me. They sang the whole thing. But I only registered four lines. I was too emotional to take it all in. Soon after followed cuddles and laughter. But in between was a delicate blur, because emotion took over. A precious and delicate moment. I will be recording these through using delicate materials, that explore the idea that these unrecorded moments are neither here nor there. They are fragile images of the mind.
